CHARLEY PRIDE HONORED WITH THE RECORDING ACADEMY’S 2017 LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

CHARLEY PRIDE HONORED WITH THE RECORDING ACADEMY’S 2017 LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 19, 2016) – The Recording Academy will honor three-time GRAMMY® award-winning country music icon Charley Pride with its 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Three-time GRAMMY winner Charley Pride taught himself to play guitar in his early teens, but he dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player. After playing in the Negro American League, he was signed by RCA Victor and in 1967 he became the first African-American singer to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. (Later, in 1993, Pride became the Grande Ole Opry's first
African-American member.) "Just Between You And Me" launched Pride to stardom, earning him his first GRAMMY nomination for 1966. In 1969, Pride scored his first No. 1 country hit with "All I Have To Offer You (Is Me)." The recognition led to a long and auspicious career for Pride, who is considered the first African-American superstar in country music.

The Recording Academy will also honor Shirley Caesar, Ahmad Jamal, Jimmie Rodgers, Nina Simone, Sly Stone and the Velvet Underground with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

"This year's Special Merit Awards recipients comprise a prestigious group of diverse and influential creators who have crafted or contributed to some of the most distinctive recordings in music history," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. "These exceptionally inspiring figures are being honored as legendary performers, creative architects, and technical visionaries. Their outstanding accomplishments and passion for their respective crafts have created a timeless legacy."

The Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates performers who have made outstanding contributions of artistic significance to the field of recording, while the Trustees Award honors contributions in areas other than performance. The recipients are determined by vote of The Recording Academy's National Board of Trustees. Technical GRAMMY Award recipients are voted on by The Academy's Producers & Engineers Wing Advisory Council and Chapter Committees, and are ratified by The Academy's Trustees. The award is presented to individuals and/or companies who have made contributions of outstanding technical significance to the recording industry.

Dustin Lynch versus Cassadee Pope

DUSTIN LYNCH To Square Off Against Cassadee Pope on Spike TV’s LIP SYNC BATTLE Wednesday (12/21)

Big-Hearted Star Raises Over $17,000 for Charity in Hometown Show

Joining Florida Georgia Line’s Huge DIG YOUR ROOTS TOUR in 2017

Nashville, Tenn. (December 19, 2016) – Broken Bow Records’ Dustin Lynch will make his hilarious debut on Spike TV’s popular musical gameshow Lip Sync Battle Wednesday (12/21) at 9/8c, squaring off against fellow country star Cassadee Pope in an epic showdown that’s not to be missed.

Hosted by LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen, Lip Sync Battle pits celebrities in a head-to-head fight to see who can deliver the most outrageous and entertaining lip-synched performance. Lynch and Pope will each take the stage twice in eye-popping, choreographed routines as they pretend to sing classic hit songs. The audience will then pick a winner.

The show first began as a much-loved bit on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, and has since become a broadcast and viral sensation.

In other news, Lynch hosted his third annual hometown concert in Tullahoma, Tennessee, on December 6, taking the stage with fellow songwriters Jim Collins, David Lee Murphy and Corey Crowder and raising $17,237 for local charities. Explaining that it’s easy to forget those who need help, even in tight-knit small towns, Lynch donated the money to local children’s charities Horse Play Inc. and 5Loaves4Kids, and collected a pile of Christmas gifts for the Tullahoma Fire Department’s Toys for Tots drive.

Lynch’s profile continues to rise on the national stage, as he’ll be the featured supporting artist on country megastars Florida Georgia Line’s upcoming DIG YOUR ROOTS TOUR, which kicks off in January of 2017.

Meanwhile, the sizzling Top 15-and-rising first single from Lynch’s third studio album, “SEEIN’ RED,” has been released to rave reviews and is already a hit with fans, with Rolling Stone praising Lynch's vocals as "one of his most soulful and assured to date” and Taste of Country proclaiming the song "unapologetically sexy." It follows the three-peat GOLD and PLATINUM success of singles “Where It’s At,” “Hell of a Night” and “Mind Reader” from his sophomore album, WHERE IT’S AT, and an equally steamy music video for the track was recently released.

For more information, visit DustinLynchMusic.com.

ABOUT DUSTIN LYNCH:
Since releasing his PLATINUM debut single, “Cowboys and Angels,” Lynch has catapulted onto the country music scene, with three consecutive #1s, two Top 5 albums, Platinum-level certifications and back-to-back summers on one of the biggest tours in country music (opening for Luke Bryan). Racking up over 55 million views on YouTube/VEVO, scoring 150 million plus streams on Spotify, soaring to #1 on the MTV Music Meter and selling 3 million digital singles, he brings a fresh combination of traditional influences and edgy intensity to the genre. Producers Mickey Jack Cones, Brett Beavers and Luke Wooten showcase his progressive sound throughout his sophomore album, WHERE IT’S AT (Broken Bow Records), which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Country Albums Chart upon release and has tallied over 1 million tracks sold to date. Realizing his long time dream of creating a fashion line, Lynch recently launched Stay Country. “Stay Country isn’t just a brand, it’s a lifestyle,” says Lynch. “It’s where I grew up. It’s home to the rivers I’ve fished, the deer stands I’ve perched, and the dirt roads I’ve roamed. It inspired Stay Country.” The line of accessibly-priced men’s and women’s shirts, hats, and accessories, all emblazoned with the distinctive Stay Country logo, can be found online at https://www.staycountryclothing.com.

THE JOURNEY HOME PROJECT DONATES $100,000 TO NASHVILLE VETERANS

THE JOURNEY HOME PROJECT DONATES $100,000 TO NASHVILLE VETERANS VIRTUAL WELCOME CENTER THROUGH NASHVILLE SERVING VETERANS COMMUNITY BOARD AND OPERATION STAND DOWN

501(c)3 Non-Profit Co-founded by Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie Daniels Funds Multiple Projects and Gives Back to Those Who Served

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 19, 2016)The Journey Home Project, co-founded by Charlie Daniels, presented a check for $100,000 to Operation Stand Down Tennessee on behalf of Nashville Serving Veterans Community Board. The gift will be used to staff the Nashville Serving Veterans Community Board’s Virtual Welcome Center in partnership with Operation Stand Down Tennessee. DevDigital, a local full service digital development firm that specializes in custom web development, enterprise and mobile application development, and web hosting will provide the design and hosting of the site at no cost.

“The true measure of growth in supporting our military community, is when like-minded Americans realize a need, and then take action. Charlie, along with DevDigital, Lt. General Keith Huber, Operation Stand Down and the board of The Journey Home Project are joining forces to create a Nashville resource center that will serve our military families in the way they so deserve. We are experiencing the incredible success of a center such as this at the Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center on the MTSU campus. I feel honored to be a part of this amazing process,” said David Corlew, co-founder of The Journey Home Project and Daniels’ manager.

Nashville-based 501(c)3 non-profit, The Journey Home Project, made 2016 a record year of giving with hundreds of thousands of dollars pledged to various initiatives. The organization, co-founded by newly inducted Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie Daniels and manager and music industry veteran David Corlew with Ed Hardy, Joe Longever and Mercedez Longever, was founded to make a difference in the lives of American veterans by helping to meet their education, healthcare and employment needs.

Highlights of the year included donating $50,000 to Shepherd’s Men as part of their 1,400-mile run from Boston to Atlanta to benefit the SHARE Military Initiative at Atlanta’s Shepherd Center. After donating over $100,000 to Middle Tennessee State University to create their Veterans and Military Family Center which opened in April, the center was named in honor of Daniels’ and his wife Hazel earlier this year. The 2,600-square-foot, $329,000 center is a one-stop-shop for MTSU’s approximately 1,000 student veterans and family members. At an event in October prior to a Tennessee Titan’s game called Tailgate for a Cause, The Journey Home Project presented a check to the organization A Soldier’s Child. ASC provides children of fallen military personnel who have given their lives in service to our country a birthday gift each year until they are 18. They offer multiple mentorship programs as well as scholarships to their members. Presently, over 2,500 children are enrolled in the program.

These funds are made possible through the charitable giving of individual donors throughout the year as well as major fundraising events including an annual gala at The Palm Restaurant in Downtown Nashville. Charlie Daniels’ 80th Birthday Volunteer Jam in November raised a considerable amount of money for the non-profit, featuring acts like Kid Rock, Luke Bryan, Chris Stapleton and more.

About The Journey Home Project
The Journey Home Project is a not-for profit organization that assists other not-for-profits in securing funds to help causes that benefit veterans of the United States Armed Forces. The Journey Home Project was founded in 2014 by Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie Daniels and board members: David Corlew, Ed Hardy, Joe Longever and Mercedez Longever. Conscious of the need to assist our nation’s veterans, they have set out to partner with organizations that do the most good, with the least overhead. Working in tandem with these organizations, The Journey Home Project is making a difference in the lives of American patriots.

Tay Schmedtmann gewinnt THE VOICE OF GERMANY 2016

The Voice Of Germany, THE VOICE OF GERMANY 2016

Tay Schmedtmann gewinnt THE VOICE OF GERMANY 2016
