The Kruger Brothers "Go Pink"

The Kruger Brothers "Go Pink"
at premiere of Roan Mountain Suite

Award-winning trio supports Breast Cancer Awareness and Research

Nashville, TENN --- The Kruger Brothers have become world renowned for their unique classically-infused folk/acoustic music. The trio was recently joined by the The Kontras Quartet for the debut performance of an original work, commissioned to honor the region, history and legacy of Tennessee’s Roan Mountain. In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Paramount Center for the Arts in Bristol, TN was decked out with pink bouquets onstage and in the lobby for a reception with the artists after the premiere of the Roan Mountain Suite.

In honor of October's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the trio made a donation to Breast Cancer Research. A portion of pre-order sales of the recorded Roan Mountain Suite project was designated for donation. The CD is set for release in early 2017 and pre-order sales were available at the event.

The Roan Mountain Suite is the 5th commission granted to composer Jens Kruger and the Kruger Brothers trio. The performance coincided with the 50th anniversary of the inaugural meeting to conserve the Roan, an effort initiated by the late Stanley A. Murray, husband of patron, Judy Murray, of Kingsport, TN.

Originally from Switzerland, Jens Kruger began playing North American folk music at an early age and was particularly inspired by recordings of Doc Watson, Flatt and Scruggs, Bill Monroe, and other progenitors of country, bluegrass and folk music. He writes the music for all of The Kruger Brothers’ original tunes, collaborating with brother, Uwe Kruger, for insightful and stirring lyrics that complement the music. In 2006, Jens began his official venture into the themes and forms of classical music when he was commissioned to write Music from the Spring for banjo, guitar, bass and full symphonic orchestra. Jens has since received four commissions to write classical pieces which The Kruger Brothers have performed with various orchestral ensembles: Appalachian Concerto with string quartet; Spirit of the Rockies (commissioned by Canada’s iconic Banff Center) with a small orchestra; Lucid Dreamer, a chamber music piece written specifically for and commissioned by the Kontras Quartet; and now, the Roan Mountain Suite.

ABOUT THE KRUGER BROTHERS
Since their formal introduction to American audiences in 1997, The Kruger Brothers’ remarkable discipline, creativity and their ability to infuse classical music into folk music has resulted in a unique sound that has made them a highly respected fixture within the world of acoustic music. Born and raised in Europe, brothers Jens and Uwe Kruger began singing and playing instruments at a very young age, and began their professional career in 1979. With the more recent addition of New York City native, Joel Landsberg, (who comes with his own noteworthy musical pedigree, having studied with jazz great Milt Hinton), the trio has been performing together since 1995, and is now based in Wilkesboro, NC.
In their ever-expanding body of work – including 15 albums to date – Jens Kruger (banjo and vocals), Uwe Kruger (guitar and lead vocals), and Joel Landsberg (bass and vocals) – The Kruger Brothers personify the spirit of exploration and innovation that forms the core of the American musical tradition. Their original music is crafted around their discerning taste, and the result is unpretentious, cultivated, and delightfully fresh.

Cyndi Lauper & Friends Home for the Holidays Benefit Concert

CYNDI LAUPER'S TRUE COLORS FUND ANNOUNCES 6TH ANNUAL "HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS" BENEFIT CONCERT LINE-UP

Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Fund "Home for the Holidays"

Star-Studded Concert to Raise Funds and Awareness for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Youth Homelessness

December 3 at New York's Beacon Theatre

NEW YORK, N.Y. (October 24, 2016) – Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors Fund (www.truecolorsfund.org) today announced the lineup for its 6th annual “Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays” benefit concert on Saturday, December 3 at New York City’s historic Beacon Theatre to raise awareness about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth homelessness. 100 percent of the net proceeds from the concert will support the True Colors Fund’s programs.

Cyndi Lauper will be joined on stage this year by Aloe Blacc, Ballets with a Twist, Big Thief, Billy Corgan, Grace VanderWaal, Judy Gold, Kate Bornstein, Maya Jupiter, Oxymorrons, Sara Ramirez, Sharon Van Etten, Theresa Caputo, Tyler Glenn, and host Carson Kressley. Additional guests will be announced soon. Tickets will be available to the general public at Ticketmaster.com starting on Friday, October 28 at 12pm.

“For the sixth year, ‘Home for the Holidays’ will bring together an incredible group of performers to support the True Colors Fund’s work to end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth," said Lauper, the organization’s co-founder. “Our voices are stronger when we say something together. I’m so grateful to the artists, who are donating their time and talent to bring attention to this very important cause.”

In America, up to 40 percent of the 1.6 million youth that are homeless each year identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. Yet, less than seven percent of the general youth population is LGBT. The most cited reason for this disproportionate rate is family rejection due to the young person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.

Co-founded by Cyndi Lauper, the True Colors Fund works nationally to end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth. Through a broad continuum of public engagement, public policy, youth collaboration, research, and community organizing programs, the True Colors Fund is creating a world in which young people can be their true selves.

Some highlights of the True Colors Fund’s work this year include:

  • Hosting the second annual #40toNoneDay, a national day to raise awareness about LGBT youth homelessness, which reached over 98 million people online.
  • Partnering with The White House to conduct a Policy Briefing on Youth Homelessness to help prioritize the needs of youth experiencing homelessness within the Federal Government.
  • Launching the National Youth Forum on Homelessness, a youth-led project focused on ending youth homelessness in America, in partnership with the National Alliance to End Homelessness.
  • Releasing At the Intersections, the most comprehensive resource on LGBT youth homelessness, in partnership with the National LGBTQ Task Force.
  • Holding the third annual sold out 40 to None Summit, the only national annual gathering focused on innovative solutions to end LGBT youth homelessness in America.
  • Training it's second class of True Fellows, young LGBT leaders with experiences of homelessness, who conduct six-month service projects in their communities.
  • Releasing its second annual 40 of the 40 list, which highlights 40 LGBT young people who have experiences with homelessness and provides them with opportunities to engage in the organization’s work.
  • Providing free tools, resources, and training through its 40 to None Network for service providers and communities around the country to aid them in providing safe, inclusive, and welcoming support to LGBT youth experiencing homelessness.

“Home for the Holidays” is proud to have the support of: Platinum Sponsors Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP and Van Gogh Vodka; Gold Sponsors The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. and Jujamcyn Theaters; Silver Sponsors Kinky Boots, The Madison Square Garden Company, Masie Productions, Reveal, Stifel, and Keith Bell, Licensed Acupuncturist.

OLD DOMINION PACKS PLAYSTATION THEATER ON MEAT AND CANDY HEADLINING TOUR

BREAKTHROUGH BAND OLD DOMINION PACKS PLAYSTATION THEATER ON MEAT AND CANDY HEADLINING TOUR
In one year’s time, five-piece band goes from selling out Joe’s Pub to PlayStation Theater as single “Song For Another Time” crests Top 10
NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – Less than a year since their last headlining show in New York at Joe’s Pub (capacity 250), Old Dominion returned to a sold-out crowd of more than 2,000 fans at PlayStation Theater in Manhattan on Saturday, Oct. 22. The road-built band Miranda Lambert has tapped to join her on tour early next year, is currently criss-crossing the country on their own headlining tour which includes upcoming sold-out shows in Asbury Park, N.J., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver and a two-night show in Chicago that follows the recent at-capacity shows in Philadelphia and New York City, plus multiple other major market sell-outs.
“Simply put, I have never seen an artist grow from Joe’s Pub to a sold-out PlayStation Theater in just a year,” AEG Live’s Adam Weiser said of the band Vice predicted is “on the cusp of superstardom." “It's amazing to watch and to know that the best has yet to come.”
Old Dominion’s 90-minute energetic set included “Nowhere Fast” and “Said Nobody” from their debut album, Meat and Candy, as well as the two-week No. 1 “Break Up With Him,” their Top 5 “Snapback” and their current single, “Song For Another Time,” which is Top 10 and climbing. With dozens of songwriting credits to their name, the night’s set list spanned some of today’s biggest songs with the crowd at times so loud the band had to step away from their microphones to take it all in.
“We’re just starting our headlining tour, it’s called the Meat and Candy Tour,” Ramsey addressed the crowd during their set on Saturday night after finishing “Til It’s Over” saying,We’ve only played a couple of shows, but the thing that’s sticking out is … you guys sing songs like that, that have never been played on the radio before. And it makes us really proud of the album we made.”
In 2016, Old Dominion has seen wins at the ACM, Music Row, ACCA and AIMP Awards and is currently nominated for two CMA awards at the upcoming 50th CMA Awards in November for Vocal Group of the Year and Best New Artist. Kenny Chesney + P!NK Setting The World On Fire

Kenny Chesney + P!NK Hit No. 1 with “Setting The World On Fire”
Already a Two Week Hot Country No. 1, “Fire” is No. 25 Bullet on Hot AC
NASHVILLE, Tenn.: As Cosmic Hallelujah gets ready to drop this Friday, Oct. 28, Kenny Chesney and P!NK slide into the No. 1 spot on both the Billboard Country Airplay and the Media Base Country Airplay charts – as well as already spending two weeks topping the Billboard Hot Country Songs, which combines streaming, sales and airplay with “Setting The World On Fire.” With all that momentum and his chemistry with his duet partner, it’s not surprising the song is now making its way up the Hot AC charts as well.
“I knew the moment I heard this song, it was exactly the moment of life and love exploding, and everything turning Technicolor,” Chesney says of the song. “Finding songs that are in the moment are harder, but in this kind of moment, it’s almost impossible. And the idea of bringing P!NK in adds to that sense of this song is happening as we sing it. It’s funny how people respond to stuff that feels real and right now.”
Recorded in Los Angeles, the Josh Osborne/Ross Copperman/Matt Jenkins song surges with the kind of jubilance that occurs in real life. Whether it’s the “I love you” written in lipstick on a mirror, screaming out the car windows from euphoria or having the band on your t-shirt coming out of the radio, “Setting The World On Fire” is a pure expression of a peak moment – and the two people in it.
“I was really happy we were going to be able to release this second,” says the man The Los Angeles Times called “The People’s Superstar” of his 29th No. 1 single. “To have Country radio respond to P!NK the way they have, to be so welcoming, that makes me proud. I think when you bring an artist into country, you need to play to their strengths, but you also want them to feel caught up in what we do.”
Moving “Fire” into the second single position not only put Chesney’s follow-up to the four No. 1 yielding The Big Revival, it also brought a sense of buoyance to his always life affirming approach to music. The extra time afforded the 8-time Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year to align some new songs with his latest No. 1’s effervescence – creating what is now known as Cosmic Hallelujah.
“Sometimes a record turns, and it takes a moment to catch up,” Chesney admits with a laugh. “When we moved into ‘Setting The World On Fire,’ I think the whole vision fell into a new place – and it was a really good place. With the songs we brought in, suddenly this album was about the thrill you can find in any given moment, peak things that happen that are so every day. Watching the response, it makes me feel like a lot of people feel like I do – so this record should hit’em right where they live.”
Again co-produced with Buddy Cannon (Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard), Cosmic Hallelujah continues Chesney’s ongoing dialogue with his No Shoes Nation, kindred spirits as voracious to live life, unwind as hard they work and embrace all the good that life has to offer. After several twists and turns, including a trip to the top of the Country Airplay charts, it’s finally here.   (Link to order)
