NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 28, 2016) – Reviver Records is excited to announce the signing of Kayla Adams to their artist roster. “Kayla is one of the bright new talents that you only see every so often,” Reviver CEO David Ross said in a statement. “Her talent and enthusiasm for this business are boundless, and I am looking forward to enjoying many years of success together as we help to tell her story.”

Adams is a native of Montana, and has already began turning heads with songs such as “Sober and Sorry” and “Burn A Little Colder.” She learned her craft at both Nashville’s prestigious Belmont University and the famed Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music in Hollywood.

Counting such female artists as Miranda Lambert, Colbie Caillat, and SHeDAISY among her influences, Adams is more than ready to take that next career step. “Over the past couple of years, I have been blessed to make a name for myself both with fans and radio. I am looking forward to growing both of those bases with Reviver.”

Adams is currently working on her first project for Reviver Records.

Matt Farris Interview by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio

Matt Farris Interview by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio

CD: JAMES ADELSBERGER - Country Sounds

JAMES ADELSBERGER
Country Sounds
Back Home Again - Chug-A-Lug Another One - Could Be The Whiskey Talkin' - Electric Palm Jam - Guitar Pickin' Motorcycles Hungry Women - Liquid Hell - Me And My Sad Self - Mountain Man - Old Lovesick Fool - Riversong - The Day Hank Williams Died - The Holy River

It never ceases to amaze me how really good musicians will go the step further and record what's on their minds, whether it be a recently written song, or an instrumental lick they've been working on, or whatever.  This album by young James Adelsberger from Virginia is an instrumental, but quite different from a 'normal' instrumental, this one is special.  This young guy has a fascinating ability with music, not only with writing it, he wrote three originals on this release, and one together with Mike Johnson.  He also played all the musical instruments.  Except for some fiddle parts which were inserted by Michael Romans.  I'd hate to begin to try to identify all the instruments James used in the production of this very listenable CD.  This is a piece of music to play at a small party, or just to listen to while you're at home doing domestic chores.  Something for the patio or back porch when you want a little serenity and just plain easy listening music.  Mike Johnson is the producer of this album, and added nine of the original melodies.  These are the melody lines of vocal songs Mike has written in the past, however in the hands of James, it's a fun listen to some of those songs done instrumentally.  Mike and James worked closely together on production and engineering.  Super job well done throughout.  The CD was released on  'You and Me Records" which Mike Johnson created in 1987 for middle-of-the-road music as well as instrumentals, so here it is alive again with a super instrumental listening experience from a very gifted young man musician.  I have a couple of favorites on this release.  Jame's composition "Riversong" is exceptional, and Mike's composition "Me And My Sad Self" are both incredibly well written melodies.  Thanks for putting this out James and Mike, it's really fun to review records sometimes, especially when what I get to listen to the 'real deal' and it's absolutely totally entertaining.

CD: J. JEFFREY MESSEROLE - Kingsnake's Bite

J. JEFFREY MESSEROLE
Kingsnake's Bite
Kingsnake's Bite - Cheap Pillows - Cross The Cumberland - Life Is A Zoo Blues - The Pistol & The Flowers - Slow Dance Through A Burning Field - Widow To The Harvest - East Brooklyn Tabernacle Blues - Cut My Teeth, Warm My Hands - Wings Of Red

J. Jeffrey Messerole is very difficult to categorize.  He's his own man, and even though I had some difficult 'hearing' all he was singing, saying, extrapolating, and certainly sharing, listening to this poet-songwriter present his words, ideas, stories, and dreams was an adventure to say the least.  Jeffrey, believe it or not, is a real-deal folk singer from Iowa.  Not knowing the musicians present during the session, I'm assuming that Jeffrey is playing acoustic rhythm guitar, however there is some additional pickin' and playin' that emphasizes the strange differences that Jeffrey feels when he is in his music mode.  In "Life Is A Zoo Blues" there's a very nice resonator guitar adding to this very distinctive bluesy song, my favorite on this album.  This single song takes me back to Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers.  That same sincere, individual 'soul' approach to a 'story' in a song with 'blues' attached as the reason for its existence.  Some good harmony work throughout this album, and an occasional additional interesting musical instrument, like the harmonica along with the resonator guitar on "Slow Dance Through a Burning Field." Since I knew Moses Asch really well, and recorded six albums for him on Folkways (now part of the Smithsonian), I found Jeffrey's "East Brooklyn Tabernacle Blues" very reminiscent of some of those early Folkways artists, this song in particular where he sounds like two different voices, it takes me directly to Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee some incredible blues singers of the 20's.  It is so nice to hear this again, super.  All of these songs are originals by Jeffrey who writes from experience, about himself and the lives of his close friends.  I, like Moses Asch would have thought, consider him a kind of modern American folk storyteller.  He very easily paints a picture with words expressed in musical thought. Nicely done Jeffrey, I'm glad you're from Iowa, 'real' folk music is still alive thanks to you.

Tucker Releases Inspiring New Single

Tucker Releases Inspiring New Single
“What I Can Change” available now
Nashville, TN --- A gifted singer/songwriter, and self-professed “car freak,” Tucker has released a new single from his debut EP #Country. The inspiring new tune is “What I Can Change.”

Tucker is a multi-instrumentalist and a prolific songwriter who’s played and toured with Eric Durrance on the Jason Aldean (2008 CMT Tour), Jimmy Wayne, James Otto, Ashley Cleveland, Guy Penrod, Rick Derringer, Michael Peterson and more.

“My start in Nashville was with Eric Durrance. I became friends with Josh Gentry, whose dad is Teddy Gentry [of the iconic band, Alabama] and it was Teddy who had me come audition for the gig with Eric,” Tucker says. “We worked with Teddy for weeks to prepare for the 2008 CMT Tour. Working with Teddy Gentry and being a part of such an amazing tour was a huge highlight in my career, and a tremendous learning opportunity.”
“What I Can Change” is a sincere message about having a positive impact, about making the little decisions that make a big difference. It’s about spending less time on the phone, more time saying ‘I love you’ and letting go of the things we cannot control.
Although he’s been a highly sought after musician for some of the busiest artists on the road, every one of those artists have urged Tucker to record his own solo project. The thoughtful artist took his time … to learn the business, write, and develop his own sound. He cut demos, performed in and around Nashville, and continued to enhance the sound of other big names … until the time was right.
With his cleverly titled debut EP, #Country, Tucker introduced himself to Country music fans.
The project is inspired by real life situations and real people with songs based on the stories Tucker has lived and seen in the lives of those close to him. He believes in the truth and enjoys gathering stories from his own experience or situations he’s witnessed and setting them to music with lyrics that are honest, inspiring and real … songs that listeners connect with. He is most prolific when life has him spinning. It is when life is at its most demanding that the words come … often several songs at a time … perhaps in some subconscious effort to make sense of the wonderful chaos that is life and love and relationships.
When he’s not indulging his love of music, Tucker indulges his passion for cars; American “muscle cars,” street rods and more. “I’m a car freak. It’s something I shared with my dad, and plan to share with my own sons,” Tucker says. He enjoys car shows and just about every car-related reality show on TV. Tucker is currently restoring a 1968 Chevy Camaro.
“I believe in all of the songs on the project,” Tucker says, “but there’s something really special about ‘What I Can Change’ and it just seemed like the right time for this message.”

Jeff White Releases Right Beside You

Jeff White Releases Right Beside You
With credits that include Vince Gill, Alison Krauss and more, the ‘musician’s musician’
steps into the spotlight with his first solo project since 1999

Nashville, TN --- The term, “highly anticipated” is tossed around often in music press, but it can’t begin to describe the excitement among true music insiders surrounding the release of Right Beside You, the new album from Jeff White.

Music journalist, Jon Weisberger, has called Jeff White “one of Nashville’s under-sung heroes for more than two decades.” White has performed on an unbelievable roster of albums with artists including  Vince Gill, Loretta Lynn, Alison Krauss, Patty Loveless, Lyle Lovett, and The Chieftains, to name a stellar few. Every now and then, however, White finds time to surface as a front man, much to the delight of savvy audiences, and he has recorded two previous, highly-praised solo projects.

A true “musician’s musician,” White’s flatpicking, singing and songwriting chops are unmatched, and his tremendous skills are respected by both his bluegrass and country contemporaries. The independently released Right Beside You is available digitally on Friday, 3/25/16 and a street date for the CD is 4/22/16.

White’s early influences included Doc Watson, Norman Blake and Tony Rice. He developed his own flatpicking guitar style with Alison Krauss and Union Station. He has played for more than 20 years with Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill, and toured with Irish music legends The Chieftains. He helped to produce The Chieftain’s two Down the Old Plank Road projects.

White has produced five albums for acclaimed fiddler, Michael Cleveland. As a writer, his songs have been recorded by The Del McCoury Band, Alison Krauss, Dale Ann Bradley, Dan Tyminski, and The Infamous Stringdusters. His talents are highly sought-after on the road and in the studio.

White’s prior solo recordings are The Broken Road in 1999, and The White Album in 1996. He’s a guy determined to take the time to get it right, and that’s just what he’s done with Right Beside You, stepping away from his busy schedule as a touring artist and a producer to share something very special and personal.

The list of guests lending talents to Right Beside You reads like a Who’s Who of acoustic music legends. Eager to share their vocal and musical talents and stand beside White on the project are Charlie Cushman, Alison Krauss, Barry Bales, Shawn Camp, Jerry Douglas, Dan Tyminski, Vince Gill, Ronnie McCoury, Michael Cleveland, Del McCoury, Bekka Bramlett, Cheryl White, Laura Weber Cash, and The Chieftains.

The low-key prodigy with the extraordinary gift spent more than a decade preparing for this 3rd solo album. Still, it is a mere taste of what Jeff White can do. As a musician, songwriter, and singer, Jeff White underscores the very meaning of “triple threat” as he continues to hone his virtuosity while both embracing and transcending bluegrass, folk, celtic and country genres.

Right Beside You is a fitting title for this exquisite collection from ace flatpicker, vocalist, and songwriter Jeff White, who over the years has himself stood beside so many greats.
