JASON ALDEAN SELLS OUT AUSTRALIAN

JASON ALDEAN SELLS OUT
HEADLINING ARENA SHOWS ON FIRST-EVER AUSTRALIAN RUN

The ACM Nominee Electrifies Never-Before Sold-Out CMC Rocks QLD Country Music Festival

NASHVILLE, TN - Mar. 14, 2016 - Before serving as the first headliner to ever sellout CMC Rocks QLD Country Music Festival this weekend (3/12), ACM "Entertainer of the Year” nominee Jason Aldean additionally hosted capacity crowds when he brought what Rolling Stone dubbed one of "2016’s Hottest Tours” to Melbourne and Sydney.

“It’s pretty cool to see what’s going on in country music over there,” shares Aldean. “You never really know what to expect when you play a country you’ve never been before. But, from the minute we stepped out on stage that first night in Melbourne, it was obvious that the fans were there to stay as long as we kept playing and it only got crazier from there. We will be back for more."

Upon returning stateside, Aldean will perform on the 51st Annual ACM Awards airing April 3 on CBS, where he is the three-time reigning “Male Vocalist of the Year” and nominated in the category once again this year, in addition to receiving his fifth “Entertainer of The Year” nod. LOVE AND THEFT SIGN TO CURB RECORDS

LOVE AND THEFT SIGN TO CURB RECORDS
Nashville, TN – March 14, 2016 – Chart topping duo Love and Theft, known for their high-energy performances and emotionally forthright lyrics, have signed to Curb Records, one of the world’s leading independent music companies.

“We’re extremely excited and proud to have Love and Theft joining the Curb Records family,” says Jim Ed Norman, CEO of The Curb Group. “The chance to work with great artistry is first and foremost a privilege, but getting to add the incredible management team at Vector and long time friend and award winning Producer Josh Leo, is uncommonly rewarding. 1-2-3-GO!”

Taylor Childress, Vice President of The Curb Group adds, “This is AWESOME! We couldn’t be more fired up to welcome Stephen and Eric to the Curb family.  They are true artists in every sense of the word and we can’t wait to get to work with them and their team on taking their artistry to even greater heights.”

With their third record Whiskey On My Breath available now, the ACM/CMA/CMT-nominated duo Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson reveal growth as songwriters, as they push boundaries and build momentum that started with their #1 country smash “Angel Eyes” and Top 10 hit “Runaway.” The pair also saw top 40 success with “Dancing In Circles,” “Runnin’ Out Of Air,” “If You Ever Get Lonely,” and “Night That You’ll Never Forget.”

The title track from Whiskey On My Breath has recently been given a shot of adrenaline by Bobby Bones who fell in love with the song while touring with Love and Theft. The iHeart radio host was inspired by the powerful ballad touting the strength of the single as the next number one Country hit.

Whiskey On My Breath, which Liles and Gunderson co-produced with longtime friend Josh Leo (Alabama, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Restless Heart), was released independently via their own label, Hate & Purchase Music, allowing them greater liberty when writing and recording.

“We realized we had a chance to give fans a record that best represented us as artists when we decided to release the new album independently,” says Gunderson. “By signing with Curb, who are an independent company themselves, we have an amazing opportunity to work with them while keeping our integrity as artists.”

"We are honored to be signed to Curb Records,” Barker Liles adds.  “Mike Curb and Jim Ed Norman are both legends who share our passion for music and independence, so to be a part of a team who understands and believes in who we are and the music we are making is inspiring.”

About Curb Records
Celebrating over 50 years in the entertainment industry, Curb Records is one of the world’s leading independent music companies.  Owned and operated by Mike Curb since 1962, Curb Records has achieved 433 number one records, over 1,500 hundred Top Ten records and charted over 4,500 total records.  Today’s roster includes some of the top names in Country, Christian and Pop/Rock music.  Curb Records was honored as Billboard Magazine’s 2001 Country Music Label of the Year and Radio & Records Magazine’s 2005 Overall Gold Label of the Year.

CD: CHAD ELLIOTT - Wreck and Ruin

CHAD ELLIOTT
Wreck and Ruin
Matters of the Broken Heart - Swear I Could - Homefire Blues - Ghost of Townes - Mystery To Me - Wreck and Ruin - Brooklyn - Magnolias In The Trees - Walkin' Shoes Blues - The Rapture

I know Chad Elliott mostly as a folk artist from Coon Rapids, Iowa.  Well, that's how I know him best, but this artist is much much more than just that of a folk artist.  This album is total proof of that particular pudding.  A major factor in the 'production' of this album is Ken Coomer who gathered together some of the best 'stylist' instrumentalists I've heard in a long time, on an original project.  "Swear I Could" brings immediately to me a kind of old-style country story song with the just right and appropriate musical interludes.  This particular song also brings Chad's very good voice exactly to the forefront, exactly where it belongs.  In America today, the general population sure gets the wrong end of the stick when it comes to gifted artists.  We get a kind of 'pop-mass-bubblegum' style of music all over the top-40 charts. We rarely, and I mean RARELY hear the objective beauty of a devoted dedicated artist like Chad Elliott.  The line "I've been everywhere but where I should have been," is amazingly complete in context on "Homefire Blues."  That's the way Chad 'composes.'  Every song on this album has incredible meaning and interpretation.  Ken Coomer brings this all together in the way each song is treated.  This is Chad's 20th album, and by my estimation, perhaps his best one yet. Even the title track "Wreck and Ruin" is a very special undertaking for Chad.  He wrote the song after the Moore, Oklahoma, tornado of 2013.  The lyrics spell out a hopeless situation of a family expecting twins (Chad is a twin himself).  As the mother goes into labor the family finds itself in the back of a broken-down Chevy as a tornado bears down on the land.  Nothing is left standing, except the family, now with two babies named "Wreck" and "Ruin." This is amazing songwriting ability. Astonishingly, one year later, on Mother's Day, 2014, a tornado leveled his mothers home in Iowa.  No one was injured, they were all off to see a Lyle Lovett concert.  Mr. Lovett holds a special place in the hearts of all the Elliott's.  This album was recorded at Creative Workshop Recording in Nashville.

CD: JONI MORRIS - A Portrait of Patsy

JONI MORRIS
A Portrait of Patsy
Walkin' After Midnight - Strange - Heartaches - Leavin' On Your Mind - Seven Lonely Days - Life's Railroad - I Fall To Pieces - In Care Of The Blues - Sweet Dreams - Crazy Arms - You Belong To Me - Gotta Lotta Rhythm - Have You Ever Been Lonely - End Of The World - Dream Lover - Ring Of Fire - Crazy

To get this many Patsy Cline songs in one location, much less have them all sound so good is next to impossible these days.  But here it is, a remarkable adventure in music featuring Joni Morris.  And much more than just Patsy Cline.  When we hear "Life's Railroad" we hear an entirely different kind of arrangement of a very old mountain song.  You'll also hear some amazing keyboard offerings here by Kevin Jachetta.  Some mandolin too, but we don't know who's doing the playing.  I get really interested in the musicians that back stunning artists like Joni, and right off the bat, on the first song, we hear Mike Lothrop on harmonica.  Wow, does that sound great or what.  It takes me right back to those great days of real country music.  There's been quite a few original Patsy Cline videos popping up on the you-tube these days, the most recent being one of her performing with Ernest Tubb and Little Jimmy Dickens.  AND then, just when you think there are no new twists in good country music, Art Coleman joins Joni Morris on ukulele on "Heartaches."  And wait a minute, Joni Morris does not in any way imitate Patsy Cline.  She sings Patsy Cline songs in her own Joni Morris way.  Being in the business as long as I have, right now it's right at 70 years (well I started playing when I was ten), I can tell you that the way Joni does Patsy's songs, if these two ladies ever had the chance to meet, they would become instant lifelong friends.  Two gorgeous women singing words very meaningful to each of them, and then a rest, just visiting, chatting, talking about the last gig, where to next, and of course a good looking man or two.  Joni makes her home in Stockton, California, so she has had ample opportunity to 'feel' the songs she sings, and how her California audience reacts.  In most cases it's standing ovation time when you go to a Joni Morris concert.  She made the trip far East to Iowa in 2015 to accept induction into America's Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame for her continuing efforts in keeping country music country.  Nominated by Minnesota's top recording artist, Sherwin Linton, she did an amazing job stepping back in time at the LeMars, Iowa, festival.  And indeed, it was standing ovation time in Iowa.  Matt Cardinalli did the producing work on this album, and he did a remarkably fine job, good mix, good arrangements, good creativity.  This is one of Joni's earlier recordings, and I'm very glad to have the opportunity to review it.   More more more Joni, you are at the top of your game.
