About Rhonda Vincent:
Rhonda Vincent, dubbed "The New Queen of Bluegrass" by the Wall Street Journal, began her musical journey at the age of three, performing alongside her family members on what was called The Sally Mountain Show. She sang bluegrass as a teenager, then recorded a couple of mainstream country albums in the 1990's, when makeup artists cared more about her looks than her sound. She was asked if she could "get the bluegrass out of her voice." Confused and heartbroken, she put together her first bluegrass band, and found the most natural approach to her music was in the bluegrass realm.

In addition to being the most award winning band in Bluegrass music history, alongside her band The Rage, totaling over 100 awards, Vincent has also performed and recorded with the best of the best, including Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Keith Urban, Alan Jackson, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Daryle Singletary, Richard Marx, Hank Williams Jr and more. While being a 15-time "Entertainer of the Year," Vincent has established herself as one of the most visible, best-selling artists in the genre, whose cross-over appeal stretches well into the mainstream media.

SCOTTY McCREERY MIA FROM BMI AWARDS; ACCEPTS 1 MONTH LATER

SCOTTY McCREERY MIA FROM BMI AWARDS; ACCEPTS 1 MONTH LATER

“See You Tonight” Singer/Songwriter Nabs a Coveted BMI Top 50 Country Song of the Year Award

NASHVILLE, TENN. – (Dec. 14, 2015) – After having to miss the BMI Country Music Awards in November due to a prior commitment performing at the CMA Marketing Summit, Scotty McCreery excitedly accepted his first BMI Award in person last Friday afternoon, Dec. 11, for writing one of BMI’s Top 50 Country Songs of 2015: his Platinum-selling Top Ten hit “See You Tonight.” BMI announced its list of Top 50 songs in November at its annual event, but with McCreery unavailable, he didn’t want to just “mail it in.” McCreery wrote the song with Ashley Gorley and Zach Crowell, and it served as the title cut of his second studio album and earned him a Top 10 hit on both Billboard and MediaBase. The multi-Platinum-selling singer/songwriter received his award in person in Nashville from Jody Williams, BMI Vice President, Writer and Publisher Relations and Bradley Collins, BMI Executive Director, Writer-Relations.

“This is my first-ever award for songwriting, and to be acknowledged for that is a huge honor for me,” said an excited McCreery. “I was so disappointed that I couldn’t be there to accept it in person during the BMI Awards in November. BMI graciously offered to send the award to my home, but it was important to me that I come back to Nashville as soon as I had a break in my tour schedule and thank Jody and Bradley in person for their continued support and encouragement of me and my songwriting. I’ve been writing songs since I was a boy playing my guitar in my bedroom. I enjoy the entire process and have spent a lot of time in Nashville over the last few years honing my craft and learning from some amazing talents. Receiving this recognition is a wonderful way to end my year.”

"We are so proud to have Scotty McCreery as a BMI songwriter and are very pleased to present him with his first, of many I am sure, BMI Country Award for ‘See You Tonight’,” said Williams.  “I cannot wait to see what Scotty does next."

NASH Country Weekly Magazine’s “Country Music’s Sexiest Man 2015” has been busy throughout this year touring during the summer and fall as the special guest on the Rascal Flatts RIOT 2015 Tour as well as performing at theaters on his own. In-between concerts he has been writing songs and recording his next album, which is expected to be in stores in 2016 with “Southern Belle” serving as the first single from the forthcoming release.  The ACM and CMT Award winner has also been busy writing his first book, Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream, which will be in-stores on May 3, 2016 and is available now for pre-sale orders at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and wherever books are sold.

McCreery burst onto the national music scene in 2011 at age 17, quickly establishing himself as one of country music’s hottest new stars. Now just five years later, the talented singer/songwriter has sold more than 2.5 million albums and received both Platinum and Gold album certifications, debuted three consecutive albums at No. 1 on a Billboard chart, achieved one Gold and three Platinum-certified singles and two Top Ten hits, amassed more than three million followers on Facebook and Twitter, and received more than 150 million YouTube views.

CD: TAMRA ROSANES - Over The Ocean

TAMRA ROSANES
Over The Ocean
Where Have All The Flowers Gone - There Is A Tavern In The Town - My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean - Old Folks At Home - Home On The Range - Red River Valley - Greensleeves - Midnight Special - Shenandoah - Last Thing On My Mind - Down In The Valley - Goodnight Irene

Tamra Rosanes is without a doubt one of the best American American-Style singers to record and perform her music in the country of Denmark and the entire Scandinavian area of Europe for that matter.  Tamra is a kind of Dolly Parton of the Scandinavian countries, doing a lot of pop-country as well as traditional and classic country, but she also likes to sing the songs she grew up with, and put together this very attractive 'folk' style album.  Using some of the best of Scandinavian musicians as her backing, she has brought these old folk-songs alive again, with a very different approach, and certainly a very entertaining way.  I enjoyed listening to each and every  one of these great old songs, for a couple of reasons.  One, they are all songs that I have either performed or recorded for the Smithsonian Institution, and also because they are the best of the folk songs that still survive, and Tamra does a remarkable job presenting them in her very own very distinctive style.  She begins with the popular Pete Seeger song 'Where Have all The Flowers Gone."  Seeger is also one of the recording artists and songwriters that works for the Smithsonian.  It's Tamra Rosanes however, who brings new life to these songs. I especially liked "Home On The Range."  Somehow I can hear birds singing in the intro, and the harmony that accompanies her beautiful voice is very apt.  "Greensleeves" is another incredibly adapted song, old as it is, to a more modern presentation.  It's stunningly beautiful.  Tamra picked two songs written by the famous Huey Ledbetter, both of then written by his experiences in a jail cell.  The first of a train that ran by the prison late at night, and the second his girlfriend that lived in an old apartment house across the tracks from that same railroad.  Both excellently done.  This incredible CD was recorded in two huge sessions, one in Oslo, Norway, and one in Copenhagen, Denmark. A tremendous number of musicians, and all of them different for both sessions.  What a massive undertaking to be so well done.  For some reason my computer player would not let me listen to the last two songs, both of them classic folk tunes.  Kudos to Tamra Rosanes for a terrific CD that belongs right in the country, western, and folk music library of anyone who likes really good music.

CD: DON JOY & MELANIE LYNN - Cover Songs 2014

DON JOY & MELANIE LYNN
Cover Songs 2014
Til A Tear Becomes A Rose - Farewell Party - The Hand That Rocks The Cradle - Me & You - In The Misty Moonlight - We Believe In Happy Endings - Memories To Burn -  Bad Goodbye - Back In The Arms of Love - Until My Dreams Come True

This delightful couple came to our 40th Old-Time Country Music Festival in LeMars, Iowa, in 2015 for the first time.  They were remarkably well accepted, which is quite easy to understand, because of their super good harmony singing.  Both of them are terrific solo singers, but they really excel as a harmony duo. Not sure when or where they recorded this particular album, but just looking at the titles, you can see some of the best classic and traditional country music is represented here.  I don't remember some of the original artists, but just listening to these great songs done again by such a very 'real' country duet-style is a real treat.  Not sure when this was recorded, but I believe it's done with taped backing.  That isn't always bad.  In this case both Don Joy and Melanie Lynn are more than capable of make the recording sound like a regular studio production.  Some of these backing tracks are extremely well done, and it takes a good harmony duo to do this. Together, their voices support that great backing.  The steel is super good throughout the entire production. We don't know who the musicians are, wish I did, they are super good.  One of their special arrangements here is "In The Misty Moonlight," which turned out really well, especially the narration part which turned out just great.  I got to hear this duo, live, at the annual festival in Mountain View, Arkansas, in 2015, where they did a super good job at Lucy Jackson's performance center.  They are both well at ease performing for an audience, large or small, they still give us the real deal in country music. Some of these songs they recorded are sad losing-love songs, but they also put some really great winning-love songs on too, which balances the entire project as a nice all around entertaining experience. This couple has already won a CD of the Year award from the Rural Roots Music Commission, so once again we are going to forward this delightful CD to that same group who do such a good job with local, statewide, and regional artists.
