Patriotism Soars with National Anthem Singers Announced for Chevrolet Riverfront Stage and LP Field; CMA Adopts “See Something Say Something” Public Awareness Safety Program; Enhanced CMA Music Festival App Available Now
NASHVILLE – The day before gates open to the 2015 CMA Music
Festival, CMA is throwing a FREE kick-off concert to get Nashville and every fan
that flocks to Music City for the Ultimate Country Music Fan Experience into the spirit of the Festival.|
Today CMA announced the performers for the CMA Music Festival Kick-Off Concert at the Chevrolet Riverfront Stage featuring SiriusXM Highway Finds. The event, curated by SiriusXM and hosted by SiriusXM The Highway’s on-air talent, will include performances by artists who are featured on The Highway’s Highway Finds, the SiriusXM channel’s ongoing initiative to introduce new Country artists to SiriusXM listeners and will take place Wednesday, June 10 (10:15 AM-7:00 PM/CT).
“The CMA Music Festival Kick-Off Concert has been extremely popular with our fans and adds another day of free music to the event,” said Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “It is just another way we can thank the local fans for supporting the Festival while also welcoming Country Music fans from around the country and world to Nashville.”
“We are excited to be working with the CMA for the first time on the official kick-off event for CMA Music Fest featuring SiriusXM Highway Finds. We're looking forward to curating a lineup of Highway Finds artists and putting together a great stage to kick off the week's festivities,” said John Marks, CMA Board Member and Senior Director, Music Programming, SiriusXM.
The FREE Kick-Off Concert is bigger than ever and features performances by SiriusXM Highway Finds artists, including A Thousand Horses, Greg Bates, Annie Bosko, Ruthie Collins, Jessie James Decker, Clare Dunn, Haley Georgia, Haley & Michaels, Sonia Leigh, LoCash, Jackson Michelson, Logan Mize, Jess Moskaluke, Old Dominion, James Otto, Outshyne, Parmalee, Carly Pearce, Adam Sanders, Canaan Smith, Dallas Smith, and Sundy Best (lineup subject to change).
The CMA Music Festival Kick-Off Concert at the Chevrolet Riverfront Stage featuring SiriusXM Highway Finds will take place at the foot of Broadway and First Avenue. Gates open at 9:00 AM/CT for SiriusXM invited guests and 9:30 AM/CT for the general public.
CMA also announced this year’s National Anthem singers for the 2015 CMA Music Festival. Katie Armiger will perform the National Anthem on Thursday, June 11 at the Chevrolet Riverfront Stage. Each night a special guest will be performing the National Anthem at the Nightly Concerts at LP Field. Thursday night it will be Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers, followed by Restless Heart on Friday, Kellie Pickler on Saturday, and Lee Greenwood on Sunday.
CMA is taking numerous steps in 2015 to protect the safety of fans, artists, and workers, so everyone can fully enjoy The Ultimate Country Music Fan Experience including safety shelters for severe weather and water stations for quick relief from the heat.
CMA also utilizes the “If You See Something, Say Something” program from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). “If You See Something, Say Something” is a simple and effective program to raise public awareness and to emphasis the importance of reporting suspicious activity to the proper local law enforcement authorities. All of those in attendance at CMA Music Festival are asked to be vigilant in reporting suspicious behavior and situations and are encouraged to call the numbers posted throughout downtown and at LP Field.
On the west side of the Cumberland River fans can report suspicious activity by calling (615) 880-1515. The number will be manned continuously during the Festival beginning Thursday, June 11 (7:00 AM/CT) until the last LP Field performance on Sunday, June 14.
At LP Field for the CMA Music Festival Nightly Concerts, fans can utilize the stadium’s text number by texting the situation and location to 69050. The phone number to call at LP Field is (615) 565-4494. The numbers will be monitored from the time the gates open until the end of the Nightly Concerts.

Eric Church Eclipses Yet Another Attendance Record in 2015
The Outsiders World Tour continues history-making trek in flyover
LINCOLN, Nebraska (May 21, 2015) -- With a simple yet propitious promise that no two nights will ever be the same, seven-time GRAMMY nominee Eric Church has fans repeatedly coming back for more. Last night's The Outsiders World Tour stop at Lincoln, Nebraska's Pinnacle Bank Arena further proved why the man Stereogum called "our greatest working rock star" has notched his fourth North America venue attendance record of 2015 with 15,823 present--a record previously held by Sir Elton John (November 23, 2014; attendance 14,368).
With his fervent band backing him the majority of the night, Church performed over two hours of original music with hits "Give Me Back My Hometown" and "Smoke A Little Smoke" interspersed by deeper album cuts like "Longer Gone" and "Livin' Part of Life" emerging from his vast arsenal.
"I'm humbled by the success this tour has had," Church adds. "The records it has set, by some of my muses and heroes, it's [all] very surreal. As an avid music fan, I'm not sure it's deserving in comparison to those I adore musically. I can only say this happened because, in my opinion, our fans are second to none."
The Outsiders World Tour topped Billboard's Hot Tours last month after Church set a new attendance record at Chicago's Allstate Arena on March 20 with over 18,626 present. Church also shattered Nashville's Bridgestone Arena attendance on January 10 with an unprecedented 18,411 fans assembled for what has now become the first of three sold out shows in 2015 in Music City (Church is opening Nashville's Ascend Amphitheater with two back-to-back sold out shows July 30 & 31). On April 7, he also broke the attendance record in North Dakota's Ralph Engelstad Arena, which was previously set by Sir Elton John's 2012 show. Since launching his tour in September of 2014, Church has performed to over 800,000 fans in more than 65 cities with nearly 20 stops continuing through September 2015.
The CMA and four-time ACM Award winner finished 2014 as country music’s top-selling artist, with the year’s highest debut and sales of any release in the format as the critical and commercial success The Outsiders reached Platinum status, marking more than one million albums sold. Debuting at No. 1 on both the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart and Top Country Albums chart, The Outsiders garnered GRAMMY, CMA, and ACM Top Album nominations and features his No.1 hits “Give Me Back My Hometown” and “Talladega” as well as his current single “Like A Wrecking Ball.” The Outsiders is the follow-up to Church’s Platinum-certified Chief, (named the 2012 Album of the Year by both CMA and ACM, and GRAMMY-nominated for Best Country Album) which featured five Top 20 singles: “Homeboy” (certified Platinum for sales in excess of one million singles); the Top 10 “Like Jesus Does” and the Top 5 “Creepin’” (both certified Gold for sales in excess of 500,000 singles each); and two No. 1 hits “Drink in My Hand” (certified Platinum) and “Springsteen” (certified Double Platinum for sales in excess of two million singles). Church’s 2006 debut album, Sinners Like Me (2006) and his sophomore album Carolina (2009) are both RIAA Gold-certified. Carolina had three hit singles: the Top 10 “Hell on the Heart” as well as Top 20 hit “Smoke A Little Smoke” and Top 10 smash “Love Your Love The Most,” which were both certified Gold. Sinners Like Me spawned three Top 20 singles: “How ‘Bout You,” “Two Pink Lines,” and “Guys Like Me.”

“You Don’t Know Me”
Make no mistake: this is not a collection of re-re-re-released tracks that turn up from time to time, and are often of dubious quality, when someone licenses the songs of a legendary artist.
There’s no doubt that Faron Young is a legendary artist, but this album is indeed a rarity: literally a brand new collection from the beloved singer who passed away back in 1996. As Faron’s son, singer-songwriter Robyn Young, says in the liner notes, the CD is a collection of very rare, one-of-a-kind recordings that most people never knew existed. They are from live performances, old radio broadcasts and old unreleased studio cuts. The tapes sat around, lost and forgotten for years.
Many of the tracks were cut on acetate pressings that were intended for a single play on the radio and were then discarded or destroyed. As such, several of the tracks were in extremely poor condition, and have been painstakingly repaired and modernized to contemporary standards by the dedicated people at Country Rewind Records.
Scott Oliver is the producer who was charged with the task of taking these songs and making them sound as if Young had recorded them today. As Oliver points out, this is not a re-mastered album, but essentially a brand new multi track project utilizing the resources and audio quality of the type available to current artists today. Understandably, all of the original recordings were one-track mono. Oliver has been totally faithful to the original sound while adding guitars, vocals and orchestral arrangements to breathe new life into tracks that would otherwise have been left for dead forever.
All of the tracks were originally recorded in one take, a single shot to get it right, recorded ‘live’ to acetate without ‘punch-ins’ or endless re-takes and tweaks. As a result, the tracks capture not only Young’s talent and faultless professionalism in his dedication to his craft, but also communicate a sense of fun and spontaneity that gets lost by the third (or thirtieth) take.
On some of these tracks, we here the radio announcer’s banter with Young at the start of the track, or the spontaneous applause from those in the studio at the end of a song. Every cut showcases Young’s magnetic personality and his crystal clear diction and pitch. The album features unique versions of his familiar hits such as ‘Goin’ Steady’ and ‘Hello Walls’ but perhaps the standout cut is the title track, “You Don’t Know Me.” The song was a hit for Eddy Arnold (and recorded by many other artists including Ray Charles, Jerry Vale and Elvis Presley) but Young’s version has a plaintive quality that could have given him a major hit if it had ever been released. Now we get to hear it all these years later.
The fifteen unique tracks on “You Don’t Know Me” will bring the voice of the “Hillbilly Heartthrob” to a new generation of listeners and will be a thrill to longtime fans who still love the legendary Faron Young.

Family Of Country Music Hall of Famer
Hank Cochran Launch The Pen Fund In His Honor
Fund To Aid Songwriters Diagnosed With Pancreatic Cancer,
Further Research & More
Nashville, TN (May 20, 2015) - The family of Country Music Hall of Fame member and award-winning singer/songwriter Hank Cochran has launched The Pen Fund in his honor. In conjunction with the Nashville-based non-profit organization, The Nikki Mitchell Foundation, Hank's widow Suzi Cochran and daughter Booth Calder hope The Pen Fund will aid songwriters with Pancreatic Cancer, support awareness, and further cutting-edge breakthroughs in research and development for the early detection and treatment of the disease. To donate to The Pen Fund, go to www.thepenfund.org or log on your PayPal Account.
"Hank loved songwriting, and he loved other songwriters," recalls his daughter Booth, Co-Founder of The Pen Fund. "He passed that love on to me, and that gave me an incredible drive to help others. Writers give up so much, and we believe that they deserve help, especially when facing a life-changing illness such as this."
During his long and prolific songwriting career, Cochran penned thousands of songs and earned over 40 B.M.I. awards in both the Pop & Country categories. In 1975, Hank was the sole writer to be inducted, by unanimous vote, into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. In the '60s, he had five songs in Billboard's Top 10. In 2003, three of his compositions ("I Fall To Pieces," "The Chair," "Make The World Go Away") were included in CMT's "100 Greatest Songs of Country Music" list. In 2007, Hank was honored as the first songwriter invited to perform in the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum's POETS And PROPHETS songwriter series. In 2012, acclaimed singer/songwriter Jamey Johnson released LIVIN' FOR A SONG: A TRIBUTE TO HANK COCHRAN (Mercury Nashville).
Country icon Merle Haggard called Cochran "the Hemingway of Country music," and award-winning songwriter/producer Buddy Cannon called him "the cornerstone of Country music." Hank remains one of the most beloved songwriters to ever walk the streets of Music Row. He was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in July 2008, following the removal of several cancerous tumors from his pancreas and lymph nodes. He passed away on July 15, 2010 at the age of 74.
"The statistics for the disease are awful," Calder states. "There will be an estimated 37,000 - 48,000 people diagnosed this year. Although, those numbers are smaller than most cancers, the percentage of people who die in the first five years following diagnosis is 94%, the highest of any cancer."
Currently, there is no early detection method in place for Pancreatic Cancer. "That's one of the goals of The Pen Fund," adds Suzi Cochran. "Early detection is critical to survival, but research dollars are at a premium. We hope to help in that area, while also making a positive impact on individual songwriters who are suffering through the disease. Hank's songs will always be remembered," Suzi adds. "And we hope his passion for the songwriting community lives on through The Pen Fund."
Suzi and Booth joined forces with The Nikki Mitchell Foundation because of the close-knit environment shared by its staff and supporters. "Nikki was Waylon Jennings' assistant for 21 years and a longtime friend to us all," Suzi recalls. "And it's a just a great organization." Country superstars Jamey Johnson, Keith Urban, Shooter Jennings, and Jessie Colter are just a few of the supporters of NMF, which recently teamed with another newly-formed organization, The Autumn Leaves Project. Launched by Grammy-nominated producer/songwriter/musician Butch Walker, their combined efforts will put the need for disease-specific research on the map, expand efforts for an early detection methodology, and ultimately, find a cure for this deadly disease.
