JOHN CONLEE HAS NEW SINGLE ADOPTED AS TENNESSEE'S FOP'S OFFICIAL SONG FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT

JOHN CONLEE HAS NEW SINGLE ADOPTED AS TENNESSEE'S FOP'S OFFICIAL SONG FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT

"Walkin' Behind the Star" from John Conlee's latest project, Classics 2, strikes a chord

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 11, 2015) – Last week, country music icon John Conlee performed “Walkin’ Behind the Star” during an emotional ceremony honoring the members of law enforcement who had given their lives in the line of duty in 2014. The ceremony was held the morning of May 8 at the Legislative Plaza in downtown Nashville. President of the Tennessee’s FOP, John Crumby, announced that Conlee’s recording was now Tennessee’s Fraternal Order of Police official song for law enforcement. “Walkin’ Behind the Star” was written by Phil Thomas and the late Ronny Scaife.

Conlee’s poignant interpretation of “Walkin’ Behind the Star” from his recent ‘live’ performances and appearances on the Grand Ole Opry have sparked comments from around the country:

Howard R. Sills, sheriff for Putnam County, GA -- “For the last 41 years I have been a police officer and for the last 19 years I have been the Sheriff of my hometown community. Needless to say we in the law enforcement profession haven’t been thought of too highly in most of the national media of late. This media coverage has made me more than a little despondent. I was lamenting about all of this when I turned on the Opry show this past Saturday night. It was not too long after the show began before a wonderful breeze of fresh air swept across my veranda and from my old GE radio sitting up on the porch rail. That breeze was the moment I heard you announce to the audience and the world that the Opry wanted to take a moment to honor those who “walk behind the star” and you sang the song with the same title that I’d never heard before. It literally caused me to tear up and it lifted my spirits. I can not express thanks enough to you, the Opry and WSM-AM for the recognition during your show.”

Mike Kelleher, chaplain from San Bernardino County Sherriff department -- “With all the bad press our force is constantly receiving, I would like to thank Mr. Conlee for his uplifting song.”

James Bartels, police officer in Patriot, OH -- As a policeman shot in the line of duty, I found John Conlee’s comments and his performance on the Grand Ole Opry very moving. I would like to thank him for understanding the terror law enforcement endure everyday in the society we live in.

Derik Walker, K102 Country in Spokane/Sandpoint, ID -- Just wanted you to pass along to John Conlee that his song, “Walkin’ Behind The Star” was the absolute perfect song to play this week for our fallen officer Greg Moore of the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho police department. I can't tell you how many calls we got regarding the song and how much it meant to folks in the inland Northwest as they deal with this tragedy. Sargent Greg Moore served the people for 16 years, before he was gunned down in Post Falls, Idaho Monday night. Please extend our gratitude to John on behalf of the entire K102 Country family!

David Lyons, police chief in Savannah, GA -- I am a police chief in the state of Georgia, the immediate past president of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police and a career police officer. I heard you sing the song, "Walkin’ Behind the Star” and wanted to tell you how much I appreciated you. With all that’s going on in the world right now along with the attacks on our police officers, it is good to hear some appreciative words. Thank you and God bless you.

Conlee feels the song’s message could not be released at a more desperate time in our country. “I wanted to do this song to show support to police officers who are just doing their jobs. With all the turmoil going on I think they are relieved that someone is paying attention the other way and giving them a pat on the back.”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 12, 2015) – Not many artists can say they were on the CMA Board of Directors during the planning and formation of the inaugural Fan Fair which took place at Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium in 1972. Even fewer can say they will have the honor of performing their mega-hits at this year’s CMA Music Festival – but, Leroy Van Dyke has earned these bragging rights!

“We are proud to bring our Country Gold Tour to this year’s CMA Music Fest,” says Leroy Van Dyke. “In the formative years, I don’t think any of us could have foreseen the magnitude to which Fan Fair (CMA Music Festival) has grown, reaching its present importance and impact on the industry. It is a phenomenon!”

If you are fortunate enough to know him, you know Leroy would never brag. It’s just not in his nature. However, it should be noted that he is the only known entertainer who is also an internationally renowned licensed auctioneer. The hit song “Auctioneer” was written solely by Van Dyke while living in a squad tent during his stint in the U.S. Army. Leroy was a Special Agent, U. S. Army Counterintelligence Corps, in Korea. The debut single, in 1956, became an instant multi-million seller. In 1961, Leroy struck pay dirt again releasing his next mega hit “Walk On By.” This chart topper stayed at Number One for 19 weeks and remained on the charts for an incredible total of 42 weeks. Billboard Magazine named it “the biggest country music single in recorded history” based on sales, plays, and number of weeks on the charts!

Since its modest inception a quarter of a century ago under the direction of Gladys Van Dyke, Leroy Van Dyke’s Country Gold Tour, in various configurations, has been presented in 25 states and four foreign countries.

COUNTRY GOLD TOUR” performance for the CMA Music Festival is on Sunday, June 14 on the WSM Durango Music Spot Stage at 1:30p (with after-show autograph party!) – here is the lineup:

Hannah Bethel: As one of Country Music Association’s ‘Who New To Watch’ artists, this vibrant country artist’s latest release, You Wanna Be My Man, which is off her album Never Ending Sky, is getting an overwhelming amount of response from radio and media. Nashville’s renowned music critic Robert K. Oermann said “[You Wanna Be My Man is] pert and perky, with a girlish sweetness…Well sung and well produced.” Billboard said “Bethel proves herself to be quite the dynamic vocalist…Nashville better make a seat for her at the table, because she’s going to be front and center very soon.”
Hailing from Northern Michigan, Bethel’s previous critically-acclaimed singles has lead her to spend the last year touring the United States, performing shows from Alaska to New Jersey and everywhere in between. She has shared the stage with such artists as Trisha Yearwood, Frankie Ballard, Canaan Smith, Charlie Worsham, Joe Nichols, Rodney Atkins and Buddy Jewell. www.HannahBethel.com

Mitch Goudy: Chart-topping new artist Mitch Goudy’s latest single, My Girl’s Hand, is lighting up the phone lines at country radio and currently climbing the MusicRow Charts. When released, this single became the #3 most downloaded track alongside Carrie Underwood, Montgomery Gentry and Jeff Bates. This heartfelt country mid-tempo ballad is off his latest album, #ROWDIE, and was written solely by himself.
Following a successful groundbreaking year in the business, Goudy has been called “the new Brad Paisley,” “the mainstream Michael Buble,” and one of Country Music Association’s ‘Who New To Watch’ artists.  Goudy also infused fashion with country music with a STRUT Apparel deal – a high end fashion label that is taking the industry by storm.  Hailing from the cornfields of southeast Iowa, Mitch grew up with a sense of pride about who he is and a strong notion of what he believes. www.MitchGoudy.com

Claire Petrie: Traditional country artist Claire Petrie is putting her own contemporary country flair on a timeless classic tune (C’est la Vie) You Never Can Tell, which is her debut release to country radio. Originally sung by the pioneer of rock and roll Chuck Berry and country icon Emmylou Harris, she is getting high praise from radio and industry executives across the country, commenting on her vocal delivery and fresh sound. This tune is off her album The One, and was produced by country music industry veteran Jack Gale. It profiles her impressive vocal range throughout all eleven tracks.
With a musical mission to bring passion and purpose to the genre she loves, Claire has crafted her signature sound when she was on tour with her family. Raised in a large musical family in Saratoga Springs, New York, and currently in West Palm Beach, FL, she was born to musical parents who instilled a love of melody, harmony, rhythm and rhyme deep within her. www.ClairePetrie.com

CHRIS JANSON MAKES WAVES WITH ‘BUY ME A BOAT’

CHRIS JANSON MAKES WAVES WITH ‘BUY ME A BOAT’

Readies for Toby Keith’s ‘Good Times & Pick Up Lines’ Tour

NASHVILLE, TN (May 11, 2015) – Money might not bring you happiness, but for Chris Janson, it can buy him a boat and the truck to pull it. That real-life sentiment is the fuel propelling Janson’s hot new single, “Buy Me A Boat,” which was the most added song on Country Aircheck (MediaBase) last week.  “Buy Me A Boat” debuted on the Billboard Country Singles (BDS) chart last week and continues to rise as the most added new song this week.

It’s easy to see why fans and radio are championing Janson’s “Boat,” which cleverly infuses a working man’s sentiment with an irresistible melody. Co-written by Janson and Chris Dubois, the sunny summer anthem features an easygoing vibe with guitars that growl like a supercharged outboard motor.

“‘Buy Me A Boat’ came from a real natural place,” said Janson. “I like trucks, Yeti coolers, and boats. And who wouldn’t like to be rich,” he laughed. Declaring it the most delightful new song of the season, Music Row’s Bob Oermann said, “The shuddering-twang guitar work; the hillbilly-accented delivery; the wildly inventive lyric; the hook-filled melody; the blue-collar message. It’s all here, and then some. In a word, brilliant.”

Janson will spend most of his summer dry-docked with a heavy tour schedule that includes more than 20 shows on Toby Keith’s Good Times & Pick Up Lines Tour, presented by Ford F-Series, major festivals and headline dates. The nationwide tour kicks off May 29 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California.

With undeniable charisma, Janson brings a blue-collar, working-class, boot-stomping hillbilly swagger to bear on every live performance, earning him opening slots for Florida Georgia Line, music legends Merle Haggard and Hank Williams Jr., as well as over 90 appearances at the Grand Ole Opry. The talented songwriter began writing at just 18 with an impressive group of musicians from the likes of Guns N’ Roses to the esteemed Larry Gatlin and co-wrote Tim McGraw’s highest chart debut of his career, “Truck Yeah.” The Perryville, Missouri native first broke onto the music scene when he landed a year long, four show a day gig at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge on Nashville’s Lower Broadway. Janson is currently writing songs for his debut album.

NBC Sets 'Coat of Many Colors' Movie From Dolly Parton

NBC Sets 'Coat of Many Colors' Movie From Dolly Parton
Dolly Parton 'Coat of Many Colors'
NEW YORK, NY (May 11, 2015) – It's official!! During the NBC Upfronts in New York City this morning, where Dolly Parton made a surprise appearance, word came that NBC has greenlit the first original movie under its development deal with the music Icon, actress and songwriter. Coat of Many Colors, named after Parton’s song, will be based on Parton’s upbringing, with the Parton serving as executive producer.

Parton had called the 1971 track her favorite song she has written. It tells the story of how her mother stitched together a coat for her daughter out of rags given to the family, telling her the biblical story of Joseph and his Coat of Many Colors. But when the girl, all excited, debuts the new coat at school, she is ridiculed by her classmates for wearing rags (watch the video above).

The original coat is now on display in Parton’s Chasing Rainbows Museum at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN.

NBC’s deal with Parton, announced in January, includes a series of standalone TV movies based on Parton’s songs, stories and life. They will contain music but won’t be musicals, with Parton possibly appearing in some. Parton is developing the projects with production partner Sam Haskell of Magnolia Hill Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television.

Coat of Many Colors is part of NBC’s slate of event programming for next season, which also includes previously announced The Reaper, a miniseries based on the best-selling memoir by Sgt. Nicholas Irving, a decorated African-American sniper who was deployed in Afghanistan for 100 days, and holiday musical The Wiz Live!.
