James Carothers Finding Nashville A Natural Fit

Newcomer James Carothers Finding Nashville A Natural Fit

Charting Single, WSM Radio Interview, Country Radio Seminar Performance & More "Firsts" Mark Singer's Fresh Start

Nashville, TN (February 23, 2015) - Newcomer James Carothers is finding Nashville a natural fit.  The talented vocalist moved to Music City a few short weeks ago, and a series of "firsts" have made for a warm welcome in spite of the area's cold winter weather.  On February 25, Carothers will make his debut on 650 AM WSM's "Coffee, Country and Cody" show as Bill Cody's guest artist.  The 9:30 a.m. CT interview and performance will stream live, and fans can listen in HERE.

James will enjoy his first Country Radio Seminar, sitting down for interviews throughout the conference, and hosting an industry breakfast/performance from 8-9 a.m. at Puckett's Downtown on February 26.  On March 18, Carothers will make his first appearance at the storied Nashville Palace when he joins numerous Country legends for the All-Star Whitey Shafer Benefit Show, hosted by Moe Bandy.

"It's been kinda crazy," admits the laid-back Carothers.  "I've been to the Grand Ole Opry, where I met Connie Smith and Jim Ed Brown.  They were fantastic, and it was so cool to meet Mike Snider; my dad wrote his biggest hit, 'Puttin' On The Dog.'"  In addition to rubbing elbows with the stars of the Opry, James has guested at world-famous venues The Station Inn and Tootsie's Orchid Lounge in recent weeks.  "I feel like I've finally come home," notes the Tennessee native.  "Even though I'm really making a fresh start."

His latest single, "I Must Be Alive" currently holds the #67 spot on the MusicRow Chart, and the track is opening doors for Carothers as it continues its upward climb.  According to Mike Thomas, KWRE/KFAV Radio, "This is the sound we've all been asking for ... real, honest Country that's hip enough to make it with today's fans."  Randy McDaniel, KXRB Classic Country expands, saying, "there's no doubt about this guy.  Give a listen to his new single and you might find yourself hearing a little Jamey Johnson, a dash of Travis Tritt and some 'Ol Waylon as well."

A favorite on the Southwest and Midwest tour circuits for the last several years, James performed regularly at venues ranging from county fairs, to honky tonks to outdoor events with over 10,000 fans from his previous home base in New Mexico. Recently signed to an exclusive, global booking agreement with Nashville-based Third Coast Talent, the engaging entertainer is looking forward to getting back on the road with his tight-knit band.  Gritty and original songs are his trademark, and James delivers stirring and hard-hitting performances in his gut-bucket baritone.

CD: ERICH McMANN - The Last American Songbook

ERICH McMANN
The Last American Songbook
The Red White And Blue - Redneck Hippie 2012 - My Heart Pounds When I See Your Face - Keep Me Loving You - Back On The Farm - The Ghost of Senior Carmello - I Don't Need No Woman To Tell Me How To Drive - The Branson Missouri Summertime Blues - The Time Has Come - The Last Song

The Last American Songbook is an audio snapshot of America, its people, music, and culture.  Written in a week by Erich McMann, recorded in a day, it's a young man's landscape of Americana through the many older styles of music we know as traditional country music, some western swing, some cowboy music, some folk elements, some trucker songs, some honky tonk and certainly a combination of all that America has given us in these genres of music, even gospel.  Much like Karen Mueller of Kansas, this young guy was inspired by the sights and sounds encountered on a road trip to America's heartland.  I really like Erich's close contact with traditional and classic country music.  This whole CD has a direct connect to the dance floor, just as it should, and it also has a direct connect to what America still is, even though major media, major recording companies, major music publishers, and major radio stations do not even know we exist.  But we do, and through the words and original music of Erich McMann, we are going to continue to exist, whether that big money enterprise wants us to or not.  Erich is not going to be quiet.  He's going to continue to BE TRADITIONAL COUNTRY MUSIC.  I say more power to you Erich.  I really like the fiddle kicking off some of these super good songs like "Keep Me Loving You."  How in the world can young America make it any plainer, any more sincere, than Erich McMann is doing it with songs like this?  I guess those of us who appreciate what he's doing, is very much in line with the Academy of Western Artists who nominated this song for their 2013 "Song of the Year."  This song is so much better than anything we hear on the top-40 country radio, it makes those charts the most unknowledgeable unaware unworkable 'judgement' of American music EVER!  Erich makes his home in Illinois, so he hasn't been poisoned by the so-called country music brand of Nashville that has removed the 'true' country music of America from the ears of the needy. Fear not, Erich McMann WILL be heard whether those poison pens like it or not.  Have to take a minute to introduce you to the musicians, because the definitely got into Erich's really easy music to like: Bob Smith on drums; Ed Mooney Jr. on steel; Sean Fried on guitar; Felipe Tobar on fiddle; Mark Baler on Dobro; Eddie Torrez on accordion; Jeff Frio on harmonica; Bob Dobro on piano; with additional vocals by Elisa McMahon and Ray Smith.  This is an all around very enjoyable music listening experience, and I shall forward this CD to the Rural Roots Music Commission for their listening pleasure, and see where they might take it.  My favorite song is "Keep Me Loving You" which is an easy pick, but I really also like 'The Branson Missouri Summertime Blues' mostly because of it's truth.

CD: KAREN MUELLER - Landscape of the Heart

KAREN MUELLER
Landscape of the Heart
Hangman's Reel - Green Green Rocky Road - My Cape Breton Home - Our Kansas Traveler - Spanish Fandango - Fly Around Pretty Little Miss/Barlow Knife - Fields of Gold - Little Martha - Landscape of the Heart - Heart of the Heartland - Sarah Armstrong's - Birdland - SLO Twilight/Julia Delany - Josefins Dopvals - I Ride an Old Paint - Forked Deer/Blackberry Blossom

This amazing CD is an incredible showcase of Karen Mueller's incredible musical talent.  I first met and heard her a long time ago in a land far away called Avoca.  It was there that Karen, just a young princess then, entered an autoharp playing competition.  She won of course, and went on to visit many far away lands, continuing her pursuit of a landscape of her heart.  Autoharp of course being her major musical instrument, but she added mountain dulcimer, guitar, and mandolin on her trek in life, and asked some of her close musical friends to make some contributions to this magical musical presentation.  The mountain dulcimer (Janita Baker), fiddle (Tom Schaefer), cello (Michelle Kinney), bass (Pete Mathison), drums (Art Dougall), bass & vocals (Mark Anderson), and herded them carefully to Sutton Sound in Atascadero, California, to create this simply beautiful musical experience.  Karen is not just an autoharp player.  She's a kind of 'wizard' on that instrument, and her own beautiful voice forces the autoharp to step back, quiet un-noticeably, to let the 'voice' emerge, beautiful and lovely.  She selected some beautiful and lovely traditional songs for this adventure, and they all turned out exceptional.  In her own words, "Places from our past can have great power to call up unexpected memories when we return there."  The title song 'Landscape of the Heart' is in the middle of this delightful recording.  The beauty of Karen's home state of Kansas and the great plains landscape, often ignored by those unfamiliar with it, is brought to the forefront of everyone's imagination as they listen to this lovely anthem to those very old and far away principles that Karen brings to the forefront so easily.  Karen goes on to say, "While much of this song (and this CD I might add), relates to her experience growing up in Kansas, it becomes universal when you consider the landscape of your own heart and the memories that continue to live there.  Music also has the power to transport us to another place and another time.  That's exactly what happened to me sitting in the sunshine in California, listening to this incredibly lovely musical tapestry of memories from far away and long ago.  What a simply wonderful feeling to tap ones fingers to the delicious melodies she plays on her autoharp, and tap ones toes in a meaningful step toward wizardry and a time long past but still very alive in the musical art of Karen Mueller. Thank you Karen for this wonderful experience. Searching for the stars in the landscape of my own heart is easy as I listen to your wonderful guidance, no mountains to climb, no clouds in the way, searching for the stars.  I will be passing your CD along to the Rural Roots Music Commission who are already looking forward to listening to your delightful memory maker.
