Annie Marie Lewis Teams Up With Rockabilly Guitar Great Danny B. Harvey

Niece Of Jerry Lee Lewis Teams Up With Rockabilly Guitar Great Danny B. Harvey For A Rockin’ New Christmas Album!

Los Angeles, CA - Annie Marie Lewis hails from one of the most distinguished musical families in history, and the closest thing to royalty America has ever had. As the daughter of vocalist/pianist Linda Gail Lewis and niece of legendary fiery rock renegade, “The Killer” Jerry Lee Lewis, she was dubbed the Princess Of Rock N’ Roll, but it’s her own musical talents that have earned her a worldwide fanbase. This year, the holidays are about to get a whole lot cooler as Annie teams with neo rockabilly icon Danny B. Harvey (Rockats/The Head Cat) for a rockin’ revamp of Christmas classics and soon-to-be favorites. The album A Rock N’ Roll Christmas In The USA will be available starting December 2 on Rockabilly Records, a division of Cleopatra Records, Inc.

From their romping take on “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer” to the bluesy, downhome Southern charm of “Merry Christmas, Baby,” this studio album offers stockings full of holiday cheer and more than a dash of good ol’ American sexiness - just listen to Annie’s ultra sultry take on “Santa Baby.” Alongside these longtime holiday classics are 2 phenomenal new compositions penned by Harvey, “Rock N’ Roll Christmas” and “Hush Lil’ Baby (Merry Christmas),” on which Annie’s vocal absolutely shine.

Harvey has nothing but praise for his Christmas collaborator, “Working with Annie Marie has been the thrill of my lifetime. Not only is she one of most talented singers I’ve ever worked with but she also has pure unadulterated southern Rock N’ Roll searing through her veins making her a force to be reckoned with. With Jerry Lee Lewis for an uncle, Linda Gail Lewis as a mother, Jimmy Swaggart and Mickey Gilley as cousins, she is the one and only true heir to southern Rock N’ Roll and rockabilly. Rockin’ is her family business and with this CD she does them proud.”

1. Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
2. Santa Baby
3. Rock N’ Roll Christmas
4. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
5. Santa Claus is Back In Town
6. Frosty The Snowman
7. Deck The Halls
8. Hush Lil' Baby (Merry Christmas)
9. O Come All Ye Faithful
10. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus

Trisha Yearwood Puts Music Back on the Front Burner

Trisha Yearwood Puts Music Back on the Front Burner
By Deborah Evans Price
© 2014 CMA Close Up® News Service / Country Music Association®, Inc.
The music industry has been through some seismic shifts in the last few years — just like Trisha Yearwood.
The Georgia native has reinvented and repositioned herself, becoming an Emmy-winning TV personality and New York Times best-selling author who is expanding her brand to include cookware and cutlery lines.
“I’m more surprised than anybody that I’m having these kinds of conversations,” Yearwood said of the opportunities that have been coming her way as a result of her two best-selling cookbooks (a third is due next spring) and her Food Network cooking show, “Trisha’s Southern Kitchen.” Now in its fifth season, the show won a 2013 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Culinary Program.
As she’s enjoyed this unexpected new chapter in her career, fans have kept asking her if she was finished with music. On PrizeFighter: Hit After Hit, her first new music in seven years, she shows them she isn’t. “There’s a little bit of everything. It covers the gamut,” she said of the album, which includes new versions of 10 of her greatest hits along with six new songs.
On top of that, PrizeFighter marks Yearwood’s debut as a Sony Music artist. Among the reasons she cites for joining the roster is that her husband, Garth Brooks, was already onboard. “We wanted to be on the same label because we want to do duet records,” Yearwood said. “We wanted to be able to do whatever we wanted and we’ve never been on the same record label, so it was kind of born out of looking to find a home that wanted to work with both of us.”
The title song, “PrizeFighter” (Jessi Alexander, Sarah Buxton and Ross Copperman), reminds Yearwood of her mom and others battling challenges in life. “When I hear this song, I see everything about my mom,” she said. “I think about the soldiers I visited at Walter Reed (National Military Medical Center). I think about little kids going to school and getting bullied. There are so many things going through my head. It’s a really cool song and it just seemed like the right title for this album.”
Yearwood was conscious of making the vocals sound like what’s happening on radio today. “Years ago, it was the norm to crank in reverb and effects and stuff like that,” said longtime friend and producer Garth Fundis. “She told me upfront she was looking for a drier sound, a little less reverb, a little more presence, a little more in-your-face. A lot of contemporary music these days, if you listen, doesn’t have as much reverb and echo on the vocals, so she wanted to specifically try to do that.”
Yearwood finds it interesting that with changes in the sound of Country Music, perceptions of her work have changed as well. “Somebody said, ‘They (the songs on PrizeFighter) sound Country,’” she said. “‘Was it intentional? Were you really trying to do something more Country?’ I said, ‘They’re not. They’re kind of classic Trisha stuff. It’s what I do.’ When I first started making records, everybody said, ‘You’re not traditional Country.’ And I said, ‘I’m more raised on the Ronstadt thing. It’s more of a contemporary Country sound. It’s not pop, but it’s definitely not traditional Country.’ Now, in the modern era of Country music, I’m traditional Country Music. It’s so funny.”
Whether it’s building her brand as a cooking guru or recording a new album, Yearwood brings passion and integrity to every endeavor and a deep sense of gratitude for every opportunity. “I really just never dreamed it would lead to all this,” she admitted. “But it comes out of something I love to do so I’m enjoying all of it.

Stanley was born in 1927 in Big Spraddle, Va. He learned to play banjo from his mother when he was a teenager. After graduating high school and serving in the U.S. Army, he joined older brother Carter in creating the Clinch Mountain Boys and began performing on local radio stations and at regional venues. After Columbia Records signed them, they become known as The Stanley Brothers and went on to record such classics as "Angel Band," "Little Maggie" and their signature tune, "Man of Constant Sorrow." During this time, he developed a unique style of playing the banjo that became known as "Stanley style."

After Carter died in 1966, Stanley continued to perform and record as a solo artist. Though the years, he helped mentor several future bluegrass and country music artists who performed in his band before embarking on solo careers, including Ricky Skaggs, Larry Sparks and Keith Whitley.

In 1976, Stanley received an honorary doctorate from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn., and he has been known as "Dr. Ralph Stanley" ever since.

He was presented with the National Heritage Award by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, elected into the International Bluegrass Hall of Honor in 1992 and inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2000. His performance of "O Death," featured in the movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou?," earned him his first GRAMMY Award in 2001 for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. The soundtrack album for that movie also earned Stanley both a GRAMMY Award and a CMA Award for Album of the Year.

His album Lost in the Lonesome Pines earned Stanley his third GRAMMY Award in 2002, this time for Best Bluegrass Album. His performance of "Me and God" with Josh Turner received an ACM nomination for Vocal Event of the Year in 2006. That same year, he received two major honors: the Living Legend Award from the Library of Congress and the National Medal of Arts from President George W. Bush.

He released his autobiography, Man of Constant Sorrow in 2009. Stanley received a second honorary Doctorate of Music degree from Yale University on May 19, 2014, and was elected as a fellow in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences on Oct. 11, 2014.

KID ROCK AND FANS GIVE BACK IN BIG WAY

KID ROCK AND FANS GIVE BACK IN BIG WAY

OPERATION TROOP AID TO BENEFIT FROM KID ROCK’S CHALLENGE; HARRIS JEWELRY PLEDGES TO MATCH FANS' DONATIONS UP TO $10,000 FROM NOW TO DEC. 15

Nashville, Tenn. (December 9, 2014) – Kid Rock has some of the most devoted fans in the music business. That is something the Detroit-based entertainer is well aware of, as his fans are known for driving long distances to catch his energetic live show. But, when he urges them to step forward for a cause that is close to his heart, they rise to the challenge in what could only be called an “American Bad Ass” way.

In announcing Kid Rock’s selection as the recipient of the Operation Troop Aid “Patriot Award” a few weeks ago, OTA founder and executive director Mark Woods stated that "Kid Rock is one of the most giving entertainers I have ever met. He really gets it. Last year, Kid Rock challenged his fans to help raise money to send care packages to the troops. In one short month, we were able to ship over 500 care packages just in time for the holidays. His art, legacy of family and Spirit of Patriotism is exactly why this award exists.”

But, that was 2013. Kid Rock has decided that he would go the distance for the veterans’ organization once again – and ask his loyal following to come along for the ride.  A longtime supporter of Operation Troop Aid, Harris Jewelry has pledged to match donations up to $10,000 donated by Kid Rock’s fan base from now through December 15th.  For information on how to donate, simply visit www.KidRock.com/carepackage.

Fans can also leave messages for those men and women who are serving our country overseas at that web address, as well. Packages will include items such as toiletries, cookies, candies, headphones, Kid Rock CDs and merchandise from Kid Rock, Made in Detroit, Badass American Lager, Jim Beam, Warner Bros. Records, and FEA/Live Nation, who are partnering up with the entertainer for the drive.

Operation Troop Aid was recently selected as the official military charity for Veterans’ Day 2014 by The Wall Street Journal, which profiled the organization on their website.

The Patriot Award is presented annually by Operation Troop Aid to celebrities that champion the men and women serving in the American Armed Forces. Kid Rock was awarded the Eagle Trophy for his countless endeavors to support troops overseas and at local hospitals and for supporting numerous military charities. Well known for his role as an American Patriot, Kid Rock, has performed at various military bases and continues to meet military personnel at every concert appearance. In winning the award, the singer stands in some impressive company, with previous winners including Hank Williams Jr., Toby Keith, Darryl Worley, Aaron Tippin, Gary Sinise, Charlie Daniels, Mark Wills, and KISS.
