Detour Continues Support of Homeless Veterans

Detour Continues Support of Homeless Veterans Through Goodwill's Patriot Place

Proceeds from "Soldier's Sorrow" and "Homeless of the Brave" Benefit the Organization

L-R  Jeff Rose (Detour), John Bratten (Veteran, Recipient of Patriot Place Good Move Award 2014) and Kathleen Arndt (Patriot Place Program Director)

Detour is proud to announce they have presented additional funds to Goodwill’s Patriot Place Project from proceeds of the sale of their songs "Soldier’s Sorrow" and "Homeless of the Brave." Yesterday, band member Jeff Rose presented Kathleen Arndt, Patriot Place Program Director, a check in the amount of $2,000. An additional $3,000 in matching funds will also be donated from Detour’s fans along with future donations from the band's record label, Mountain Fever Records.

"Soldier's Sorrow" appears on the Detour's current album, GOING NOWHERE FAST on Mountain Fever. “We are honored to be able to be part of this effort to assist homeless Veterans.  All of the friends of Detour have been so supportive of this effort and we thank them for buying our music to make these donations possible.  You just can't beat the Bluegrass Music family,” said Rose.

Mountain Fever Records President, Mark Hodges certainly agrees saying, “Bluegrass is the most personable genre of any music. It's more like one big family and when you have such big hearted and humble people like Jeff Rose and Missy Armstrong along with the rest of Detour, it's easy to see how their fans and friends are so willing to help out and get involved with this great cause that they have chosen to support. I'm proud to know them and honored to work with them.”

Several years ago, Rose wrote "Homeless of the Brave" (from their previous album A BETTER PLACE) as a direct response to a story that he heard on the radio about the plight of homeless veterans. He was stunned to learn that there are approximately 70,000 homeless veterans in this country and over 600 in northern Michigan alone.
He then made the decision to donate proceeds of the sale of the song to Goodwill's Patriot Place that is a transitional housing community for Northern Michigan’s homeless veterans.

"Busy City" Hits Number One, While"Only Me" Featuring Willie Nelson Moves To Number Two

RHONDA VINCENT Takes Top Two Spots on National Bluegrass Chart
WATCH AS RHONDA VINCENT DELIVERS A VERY SPECIAL MESSAGE!

"Busy City" Hits Number One, While"Only Me" Featuring Willie Nelson Moves To Number Two

Nashville, Tenn. (November 11, 2014) -- Rhonda Vincent, who the Wall Street Journal named "The New Queen of Bluegrass," has reason to celebrate as she takes the top 2 spots on the November Bluegrass Unlimited chart. "Busy City" takes over as the brand new #1 song on the national monthly survey.  In addition to holding the top spot, Rhonda also moves up to #2 with "Only Me" featuring Willie Nelson.

"Busy City" is an up-tempo bluegrass track, which speaks about living a busy lifestyle, and constantly being on the go.  The Jesse Daniel penned track was originally cut by Rhonda's two daughters who make up the bluegrass duo Next Best Thing. Rhonda liked the track so much that she decided to record it, along with releasing it as a single.

Both tracks come from Rhonda's latest album, Only Me, which debuted at the top of the Billboard Bluegrass Albums chart earlier this year. The special 2-disc album features a collection of half country and half bluegrass songs. The Rage assist on the bluegrass side of the album, while the 6 country songs feature "ACM Steel Player of the Year" Mike Johnson on the steel guitar, Tim Crouch on the Fiddle, in addition to many more world class musicians.

KENNY ROGERS ANNOUNCES FAREWELL DOWN UNDER TOUR

KENNY ROGERS ANNOUNCES FAREWELL DOWN UNDER TOUR

ROGERS TO PERFORM IN AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND
FOR THE LAST TIME EVER IN JANUARY & FEBRUARY 2015

Nashville, Tenn. (November 11, 2014) – GRAMMY Award-winning country superstar and contemporary music icon, Kenny Rogers, will return Down Under in January and February for his Farewell Down Under Tour, which will include his final concerts in Australia and New Zealand ever.

The tour will begin in Sydney on January 23, 2015; followed by shows across the country in Tamworth, Newcastle, Melbourne, Launceston, Gold Coast, Townsville, Perth and Adelaide; then a concert in Christchurch, New Zealand before concluding the tour in Hamilton, New Zealand, on February 15, 2015.

While the concerts scheduled in January and February 2015 will be Rogers’ final performances in Australia and New Zealand, the legendary vocalist will continue to tour in other parts of the world.

Rogers has toured Australia and New Zealand numerous times — including his first visit as a member of the First Edition in 1973 (Rolling Through New Zealand Tour); with Dolly Parton in 1984 and 1987; with Reba McEntire in 1998; and more recent solo tours in 2008, 2011 and 2012.

"For all of the traveling I've done around the world, Australia and New Zealand remain two of my favorite places to perform,” Rogers said. "When I was with the First Edition, we made this same trip several times, and no matter how many times I've gone, I've always loved the audiences Down Under. They have a great sense of humor, and they've always treated me with such great respect, so for that, I say thank you.”

Since his sold out 2012 visit to Australia and New Zealand, Kenny has been honored with an induction into the American Country Music Hall of Fame and the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award – his sixth Country Music Association Award. Previous prestigious accolades include three Grammy Awards, eighteen American Music Awards, eight Academy of Country Music Awards and sales of more than 120 million - one Diamond, twenty Platinum and thirty two Gold albums, making him one of the Top Ten Best Selling Male Artists of All Time, according to the RIAA.

Rogers’ music has always crossed boundaries and the hit maker is still making monumental cross-over appearances at some of the world’s most prestigious festivals up to this day. In 2013, Rogers made his first appearance at the largest outdoor arts spectacle, the Glastonbury Festival, playing to over 130,000 enthusiastic fans, and at Morocco’s world music, Festival Timitar. In 2012, the country legend was welcomed with open arms at Bonnaroo, where he performed his own set with surprise special guest Lionel Richie and later joined Phish on-stage as a surprise guest himself for a rousing version of The Gambler.

In addition, Rogers has earned a GRAMMY Award nomination and CMA Award nomination this year, along with longtime friend and collaborator Dolly Parton, for their new duet, “You Can’t Make Old Friends,” which is the title track of Rogers’ current critically acclaimed 32nd studio album released by Warner Bros. in 2013. The magical Kenny & Dolly reunion was only the third time in the studio together since their Real Love hit in 1985.

Rogers is an enduring artist with a distinctive voice, gift for storytelling and universal appeal. He has consistently sold out venues where he performs from a chart-topping catalogue spanning seven decades and including multiple hits such as The Gambler; Lucille; Coward of the County; Ruby Dont Take Your Love To Town; Reuben James; Lady; Islands in the Stream; She Believes In Me; We've Got Tonight; Daytime Friends; Sweet Music Man; Through The Years; You Decorated My Life; Buy Me A Rose; I Cant Unlove You; and many more.

As an actor, Kenny starred as Brady Hawkes in The Gambler - five films which became the longest running mini-series franchise on American television and another movie inspired by his hit, Coward of the County.

His autobiography, Luck Or Something Like It - A Memoir, was a New York Times Best Seller in 2012 and continues to receive stellar reviews. Rogers has also produced several books of photography and received an Honorary Masters of Photography from the Professional Photographers of America earlier this year.

Don’t miss your last chance to see the legendary Kenny Rogers in Australia and New Zealand on his Farewell Down Under Tour in Australia and New Zealand, where he will be joined by some of the brightest local stars.

New Single "Great American Heroes" by Newton & Thomas

New Single "Great American Heroes" by Newton & Thomas

Nashville, Tenn. (November 11, 2014) - Newton & Thomas are proud to announce the new single release, “Great American Heroes” that recently made its radio debut on Nashville’s WSM Radio 650 AM Coffee, Country and Cody show. This inspirational and patriotic new tune was written by the award-winning songwriter, Mark “Brink” Brinkman. All proceeds from the sale of the song will benefit the American Security Council Foundation - a non-profit organization promoting the Strategy of Peace Through Strength.

Pinecastle Records has made it available for purchase at iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby and to radio stations at AirPlayDirect.

“On behalf of myself, Steve Thomas, and Mark Brinkman, I can say we are all truly honored that the American Security Council Foundation will use this as their signature song to help raise awareness to their wonderful cause,” said Mark Newton.

Brinkman shared his thoughts on writing “Great American Heroes” saying, “As my son, Zac, was joining the USAF I began thinking about ‘heroes’ and the moral fabric of our nation today.  I wanted to write a song to make a statement and honor the ‘real’ heroes in our lives. The dad that works double shifts so that his kids might go to college and have a better life than he did….the mom that keeps the family together, sacrifices personal gain for the benefits of her children…the teacher that can shape the life of a child and inspire them on to a lifetime of learning and contribution to society…and the men and women who put their lives on the line every day for our freedom. These are the ‘real’ heroes that we need to be lifting up! I hope the song helps to redefine the word ‘hero’ and focus on the people with hero qualities - sacrifice, selfless, caring, courage, giving, love, fearless, etc.”

Newton & Thomas will perform “Great American Heroes” during the upcoming American Security Council Foundation (ASCF) benefit concert featuring The Band Perry, along with JT Hodges. This highly anticipated event will take place Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Historic Dodgertown Holman Stadium in Vero Beach, Fla. The festival gates will open at 3:00 PM with various activities and exhibits. The festival will raise funds for The US NAVY UDT/SEAL Trident House and the ASCF Scholarship Fund that provides scholarships to the children of Active Duty Military, Veterans, Law Enforcement and First Responders,” said ASCF Director of Operations Gary James.

Ticket prices are $35 General Admission; $55 Reserved (stands); $75 and $100 Premier Reserved Seating (field). General Admission Parking is $10 and VIP Parking is $15. Tickets may be purchased by calling 1-800-514-3849 or by visiting the ASCF event website.

COUNTRY ALL-STARS CELEBRATE THE DOOBIE BROTHERS

COUNTRY ALL-STARS CELEBRATE THE DOOBIE BROTHERS

Released on Nov. 4, Southbound, highlighting the songs of the Doobie Brothers, was a labor of love for Gary Overton.
“The first concert I ever attended was the Doobie Brothers in Phoenix in 1972, when I was 15 years old,” said the Sony Music Nashville Chairman and CEO. “They were opening for Three Dog Night and I was blown away by the music. I’ve been an avid fan ever since.”
So when David Huff pitched the idea for Southbound, Overton quickly agreed. The producer got the idea for the project when he attended a Lady Antebellum show. “They matched up ‘American Honey’ with ‘Black Water,’” he recalled. “And I saw these twentysomething people singing ‘Black Water’ as much as they were singing ‘American Honey.’”
In addition to the Doobies themselves, an array of Country Music giants joined in on the Southbound sessions. Tyler Farr, Hunter Hayes, Casey James, Toby Keith, Love and Theft, Jerrod Niemann, Chris Young and Zac Brown Band were among those who took part – and in the process, fulfilled a few dreams of their own.
“My family and I grew up listening to the Doobie Brothers,” said Sara Evans, who performed “What a Fool Believes” on Southbound. “I’ve been a huge fan of their music my entire life. I’ve covered several of their songs in my live show throughout the years, but singing with Michael McDonald, who is such an icon, was an extreme honor.”
The Doobies are also thrilled with the treatment their classics received on Southbound. “I was really happy with the way ‘Nobody’ came out,” said vocalist/guitarist Tom Johnston, a founding member of the group. “There’s a guy named Charlie Worsham that we worked with on that, and I was blown away by his vocals. And I really liked him. All the songs came out good, but that song got taken probably the farthest away from any original song on there. That’s one of the reasons I like it so much.”
Johnston also appreciated the enthusiasm and work ethic of the guest artists. “Blake Shelton came in with this attitude of ‘Let’s go! I’ll do it until you guys are happy.’ That really impressed me … very professional. Here’s a guy that’s got the world at the tip of his fingers with all the stuff he’s got going on, and he did three or four takes and was ready to do more. He was awesome.”
The Doobie Brothers continue to play live; on Nov. 5, they guested on “The 48th Annual CMA Awards."
“They are still doing 80-something shows a year,” Overton said. “We’ve got some opportunities for TV. We’re talking to the Home Shopping Network; they are very, very interested in doing something with the guys. Lots of things will be different as far as marketing for this because we’re not going to have a single. Pretty much everyone on the record has a very vibrant career, so they have their own singles out. And that’s OK.”
Overton expects a wide audience for Southbound. “Baby boomers listen to classic rock radio. That was the music of our lives,” he said. “This is like a fresh taste of it.”
