Kevin Meisel & The Ragged Glories brillieren in Leipheim

Grand Ole Opry Star JIM ED BROWN IN STYLE AGAIN
With New Album Set For January 20 Release
With New Album Set For January 20 Release
First Single, "When The Sun Says Hello To The Mountain," Features THE BROWNSNASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 10, 2014) – JIM ED BROWN, a Country paragon, celebrates his 51st anniversary as a member of the Grand Ole Opry with a new CD, IN STYLE AGAIN, due in stores on January 20, 2015. The disc’s first single, "When The Sun Says Hello To The Mountain," features Jim Ed and sister Bonnie Brown, and is available to Country radio today. Programmers can find the music at AirPlayDirect and enjoy Jim Ed’s story behind the song here.
IN STYLE AGAIN, Brown’s debut for Plowboy Records, boasts guest appearances by Vince Gill (“Tried And True”) and The Whites (“You Again”), and a reunion with longtime duet partner Helen Cornelius (“Don’t Let Me Cross Over”). The title track was produced by Brown’s close friend and Country Music Hall of Famer Bobby Bare, while the balance of the 13-track offering was produced by Don Cusic. The project features top-tier Nashville session players John Hobbs (Piano, Organ), Michael Baker (Guitar), Glen Duncan (Guitar, Mandolin, Violin), John McTigue (Drums), Dave Roe (Bass), Chris Scruggs (Guitar, Pedal Steel), Gary Prim (Keyboards), Daryl Hornburger (Steel Guitar), Michael Baker (Acoustic Guitar), Brent Mason (Electric guitar), Dennis Crouch (Upright Bass) and Greg Morrow (Drums). Background vocals on “Watching The World Walking By,” “Laura (Do You Love Me),” “Lucky Enough” and “It’s A Good Life” were furnished by Bergen White, Lisa Silver and Kira Small McConaghy.
Brown’s first solo studio album in almost three decades, the new collection embodies Country traditionalism while showcasing Jim Ed’s signature smooth vocals. Each song was carefully chosen, and listeners will find a mix of favorites and new tunes, written by legendary composers Cindy Walker, Dean Dillon, Don Schlitz and Paul Overstreet. "I love new music." said Brown about the new disc. "I guess the whole world does. It's always good to hear a great new song – or a cherished chestnut.”
Jim Ed’s past recording partnership with sisters Bonnie and Maxine earned them hits with "I Heard The Bluebirds Sing," "Scarlet Ribbons," and the 1959 million-selling "The Three Bells". As a solo artist (with hits like the iconic "Pop A Top," "Southern Loving," and "Morning"), and as part of a CMA Award-winning duo with Helen Cornelius ("I Don't Want To Have To Marry You," and "Lying In Love With You"), Brown has earned his place among other Country legends. IN STYLE AGAIN proves Jim Ed is a timeless interpreter of a genre that is always in fashion.

2. Tried And True (featuring Vince Gill)

ABOUT JIM ED BROWN
During a seven-year run THE BROWNS charted numerous times, including the mega-hit “The Three Bells,” which was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop and Country charts, #10 on Billboard's Rhythm and Blues chart, and was featured in the final season of The Sopranos (2007). The Arkansas native enjoyed his first solo hit in 1965 and his signature song, “Pop A Top,” ruled the charts two years later. He and Helen Cornelius won CMA honors in 1976 for Duo of the Year, and the two enjoyed a string of hits throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s that included “I Don't Want To Have To Marry You” and "Saying Hello, Saying I Love You, Saying Goodbye." Brown has hosted four network television shows and a radio program, and served as a spokesperson for Dollar General Corporation and Arkansas Children’s Hospital. He currently hosts the nationally-syndicated COUNTRY MUSIC GREATS RADIO SHOW heard on more than 200 stations per week.

Freight Train Love
Freight Train Love - Help - Get Your Love - Diamonds - Losing You - Flowers On Mars - Whiskey Bottle Day - If You Don't Love Me - Lotta Love - Didn't Make It Alive
This very gifted beautiful and lovely country girl came all the way from St. Louis, Missouri, to LeMars in 2014 for some Rural Roots Music Commission honor and respect. She's right back with another incredibly lovely CD, many of the songs her own originals. I do enjoy listening to older country music artists that stay with the original 'seed' of what country music really is, but I also like to hear what young people without millions of dollars to make them stars also do with the 'seed.' I once heard it took 15-million dollars to make Garth Brooks a star. Not sure that's true, but I'm very glad Hilary Scott does not have that same kind of money. I'm afraid it would ruin her very beautiful originality, that she expresses so well, with and without love in these songs. Believe it or not, I believe the (I believe it's an old Hammond) organ on these tracks add not distract from her explicit and stone-cold truth-telling voice revealing the win-lose side of love. Some call Hilary a 'folk' or 'root' singer, and yes I believe that could be the case, but she's much more than that. Hilary sings the truth, the very 'seed' that made original country music so likable. No 'phony' here, no need for it, or that 15-million dollars. Why? Because the truth is better, and Hilary has that in her voice, her being, her 'reason' for being in music in the first place. You can probably see that I'm a 'believer' especially in the original and very satisfying 'sound' of Hilary Scott. There's lots of modern expression from the instruments on this CD, but it's not loud or distorting. It doesn't 'hide' the lovely voice of Hilary, and it remains 'expressive' just as it should. What a nice surprise for me to hear this lovely girl's voice, imagination, purpose, dedication, and 'music seeds' to close out my 'listening' time for today. Thanks Hilary, get ready because this CD goes to the Rural Roots Music Commission too. It's early in the season, but get set and ready to go. Look out Alison Kraus, you have competition.

ALLEN & NANCY JENSEN
Jack - Gentleman Jim - Call Me A Dreamer - Walter - Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Dakota Sunshine - The Last Recall - Old Love - Interlude
I'm so glad I had the opportunity in my lifetime to meet Jack Langley. This modest, incredibly talented man makes his home in Sioux City, Iowa. He is, in the minds of those who hear him in the upper Midwest, the best songwriter of true country music ever. Jack has actually had some of the sad experiences that makes his poetry turned song so incredibly beautiful. It was also my very good fortune to hear Jack and this couple, Allen & Nancy Jensen, begin their relationship creating some wonderful new sounds of a mellow, mild, heart-felt, 'country' music utilizing the very seeds of what created 'country' music in it's own infancy. Imagine for a moment a very nice quiet electric guitar, played exceptionally well, quietly in the background that just-right 'country' sound admired by so many in the past. Add to that a basic bass. Not a bass that plays leads or jazz riffs, a bass that adds and stimulates the music. Add some soft rhythm guitar to glue it all together, and then add an absolutely lovely flute to the mix. What? Yes, the first time I heard this, I heard those 'seeds' again, the imagery of creation, the lovely softness of another side of 'real' country music. How pleasant can it get? Voices, perhaps not the most cultured in the world but, absolutely perfect for the 'original' sound of 'original' country music. However when you hear Nancy sing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" you can be sure Dorothy is listening. It's a delightful interpretation of the old standard done in an exquisite 'country' style. There are those 'seeds' again, doing their job. For me, simplicity is the epitome of sophistication, the very reason I was attracted to old-time 'real' country music when I was just a small boy. Exactly what this incredibly well done CD is all about. OK, I admit it, it's just plain 'pretty.' Off to the Rural Roots Music Commission this one goes. I shed a few tears listening to my friend Jack Langley's songs, and shed a few more at the soft beautiful interpretation of the same by Allen and Nancy Jensen.

You Ain't Woman Enough To Take My Man - Sweet Dreams - I Don't Claim To Be An Angel/Honky Tonk Angels - Help Me Make It Through The Night - I Love You Arizona - Seven Lonely Days - Bill Bailey Won't You Come Home - I'm Not Lisa - Jolene - Somebody Somewhere - Coat Of Many Colors - She's Got You - South Of The Border - Stand By Your Man - God Bless America Again
One of the best things about the Country Music Associations CD Awards show is that it's over! It has become one of the most phony, money grubbing, ego maniacal music events in America. Which makes it even more pleasant for me to have the opportunity to listen to a 'real' country music artist to counter the incredible falseness of 'commercial country' music today. Angie Sanger is a 'real' country artist, and she proves it, with her real voice, her real presence, her real music backing....all of it 'real' country. She doesn't spend millions of dollars to get people to listen to her recordings. She doesn't run her voice through the magic-box to remove any irregularities. She doesn't 'buy' time on radio and television to 'advertise' her recordings. She doesn't have to. She's real, and the real-deal on this particular CD is absolutely amazing. Her selection of 'real' country music songs done by some of the most gifted female country singers in the history of the genre is stunning. When someone like Miranda Lambert steps into the spotlight to tell us all she's the most decorated female country music artist in history, she fails to 'remember' Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton, and Patsy Cline, all of whom have more awards than Lambert can count, and ALL of them are 'real' country singers, not a phony money clinging studio perfected voice like Lambert. Angie Senger is probably a name Lambert has never heard, but she should. One listen to this 'perfect' country voice should make chills in the spine, and it does to most 'true' country music fans. Be that as it may, Angie Senger sings circles around Lambert, and her backing band is as good, or better, than Nashville. Angie (unlike MOST female commercial country singers today) actually plays the rhythm guitar as well as the bass. Joe Chock is on the 'real' pedal steel, Greg Dobb and Mike Walters are on lead guitar, and Kipp Galloway is on a nicely mixed drum. And guess what, this absolutely wonderful CD was recorded in Minnesota. Oh please, don't tell me that 'country' music has to be recorded in Nashville. That's the worst place in the world to get a 'real' country feel in the music today. Take this one to the bank Angie, and I'll submit it to the Rural Roots Music Commission as well. Don't worry, Lambert can't 'buy' the Commission, they're not for sale.

Sydney Country Music Festival Brings Thousands To Bella Vista Farm
More than 6500 visitors from across Australia flocked to Bella Vista Farm Park on Saturday for the 2014 Sydney Country Music Festival.
Revellers filtered onto the historic farm park from midday on a glorious Sydney spring afternoon that provided the perfect conditions for country fans.
Fans were treated to performances by a sizzling line-up of artists including McAlister Kemp, The McClymonts, Beccy Cole, Wagons, Chelsea Basham, The Viper Creek Band, Ashleigh Dallas, Luke O’Shea and the finalists of the Silver Saddles talent search.
Also on offer was line dancing, whip cracking, The Hills Shire Music School’s ‘Jam Barn’ with country band ‘The Plough’, the Beaut Utes Show, country kids’ activities and more.
“The Sydney Country Music Festival has now grown from a few hundred attendees in the first year to more than 6500 in 2014. We are expecting it to grow even further in 2015,” Mayor Jefferies said.
“We’ve already locked in significant headliners for next year, with Adam Brand and The Wolfe Brothers confirmed to play and the event scheduled to go for two days.”
Over the course of his career, Adam Brand has earned three Platinum and five Gold albums. He has been nominated four times for the ARIA Best Country Album award and is the winner of 12 Golden Guitar Awards at the Country Music Awards of Australia, including multiple wins in the Song of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year categories.
The Wolfe Brothers captured the attention of the nation when they were voted into second place in the final of Australia’s Got Talent in 2012. The Wolfe Brothers consists of two brothers, Nick and Tom Wolfe, and, guitarist Brodie Rainbird and drummer Casey Kostiuk and describe their work as ‘modern country’.
Mayor Jefferies said that Bella Vista Farm Park is a proven major event facility, and feedback from fans has been overwhelmingly positive about hosting a country music festival in Sydney.
“The Sydney Country Music Festival was a great success and I want to thank Council staff, Catapult Creative, Power Creative and all the event sponsors for making Saturday such a wonderful occasion.”
“Not only did the event showcase some fantastic Australian country talent in the form of McAlister Kemp, The McClymonts and Beccy Cole to name a few – but it also helped to unearth some very talented young artists via the Silver Saddle Competition.”
