"NASHVILLE ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT HONORS" -
Dr. Thomas Frist, Jr., Vince Gill, Martha Ingram, Jeffrey Steele Also Honored in New Issue
(Nashville, Tennessee...) - President of Opry Entertainment Group and Executive Producer ofNashville, Steve Buchanan is one of five Music City residents chosen by Nashville Arts & Entertainment Magazine in the inaugural "Nashville Arts and Entertainment Honors." The annual periodical also honors Dr. Thomas Frist, Jr., Vince Gill, Martha Ingram and Jeffrey Steele in the current issue, which is on newsstands now.
Growing up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, the man behind the scenes at Opry Entertainment Group for almost 30 years initially enrolled at Vanderbilt University to become an environmental engineer. His love of music led him to work on the school's concert committee, which was responsible for bringing such stars as Bonnie Raitt, Muddy Waters and Bob Marley to campus. The experience whet an appetite that has never dulled and cementing his profile in Nashville's skyline of movers and shakers.
His first job after graduating from Vanderbilt was with Nashville booking agency Buddy Lee Attractions. His desire to get a better business foundation took him back to Vanderbilt and the Owen Graduate School of Management. Upon graduating, his aspiration to use his marketing education in an entertainment-related business led him to accept a marketing manager position for the Grand Ole Opry. The career path turned out to be a great decision for him, the Opry and for the city of Nashville.
Buchanan's leadership has been credited with reviving and saving the venerable Ryman Auditorium. The historic venue now hosts sold-out concerts of virtually every genre of music and has won numerous industry awards. When 2010's historic Nashville flood poured several feet of water into the Grand Ole Opry House and threatened cancellation of the series that has broadcast continuously since 1925, he made sure the show would go on.
More recently, Buchanan pitched an idea to Creative Artists Agency and subsequently Lions Gate Entertainment in Los Angeles that became the hit ABC TV show Nashville. Now in its third season, the successful series has been one giant home run artistically, musically and as a branding tool for Music City. Shooting here and featuring local landmarks, the show has boosted Nashville as a travel destination. As executive producer, Buchanan says it was one of his proudest moments to represent the city and its famous music industry to the world.
To acknowledge the tremendous spirit of giving and encouragement the five Nashville honorees embody, Nashville Arts & Entertainment Magazine, a Glover Group Entertainment Production, is pleased to make a $1,000 donation to each of these affiliated charities of the honorees: The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Metro Arts Commission, The Frist Center for the Visual Arts, The First Tee Foundation and the Alex LeVasseur Memorial Fund.

“OH YEAH!” David Shelby
David Shelby’s sophomore project is a 7-song EP that is a follow up to 2013’s “Rust Belt Cowboy.” Shelby is a native of Detroit, Michigan, and identifies with the trial and tribulations of the working man (and woman) feeling the pain of the economic hit that the Motor City has taken over the past decade or so.
But if you think that Shelby’s new project is all doom and gloom you’d be wrong. All seven tracks celebrate Life as it should be lived when you need to put your cares aside and let ‘er rip.
The EP kicks off with the title track featuring a cowboy, clip-clop tempo that finds the narrator in a saloon looking at a hot young lady leaning on the bar and he starts to think what might happen. The song (written by Jeffrey East & John Ramey) includes a syncopated chorus that goes: “Oh yeah! Watch her walk away now / Oh yeah! Ain’t no doubt about it / She’s got the kind of rockin’ body that makes everybody just stop shake their heads and say Oh Yeah!”
The EP closes with “Prayer for the Broken” a powerful, hard-driving tribute to the Detroit worker that sounds like something Bruce Springsteen would do if he ever cut a country album.
In between, Shelby serves up five more tracks, including the clap-along, air-punching “Moonshine,” which is about… well, you know.
The EP is enhanced by fine production by Russ Zavitson and Music Brothers Production (consisting of Charlie English and Teddy Gentry, bass player with the supergroup Alabama). With this project, Shelby again proves that you don’t need to be a Nashville native to create good, solid country music that rocks, on stage and off.

RONNIE McDOWELL SET TO TAKE MUSIC TO THE MASSES
BELOVED ENTERTAINER ON ROAD WELL INTO 2015NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 4, 2014) – Ronnie McDowell has been bringing his unique style of Country Music to fans for four decades now, and the singer will continue to log the road miles well into 2015.
Just having released his tour schedule for the coming year, McDowell has concert dates lined up through the fall of 2015. With over thirty appearances on the Billboard Country Singles Chart, the Portland, Tennessee, native has been a favorite of radio programmers and fans alike since his tribute to Elvis Presley, “The King Is Gone,” launched his recording career in the fall of 1977. The single has gone on to sell five million copies worldwide. McDowell’s vocals have been widely compared to Presley’s over the years, earning his voice spots in such film projects as the 1979 biopic Elvis as well as Elvis and Me, a TV-movies inspired by the Priscilla Presley autobiography of the same title.
But, there’s a lot more to McDowell’s talent. He immediately followed up “The King Is Gone” with the top-ten hit ‘I Love You, I Love You, I Love You,” and was a regular presence on the charts with future singles such as “Wandering Eyes,” “Love Talks,” and “In A New York Minute.” He earned number one records with “You’re Gonna Ruin My Bad Reputation” and “Older Women.” Later hits included duets with Conway Twitty (“It’s Only Make Believe”) and Jerry Lee Lewis (“Never Too Old To Rock And Roll”), as well as a very well-received version of the standard “Unchained Melody” in 1990.
To date, Ronnie McDowell has released twenty-four studio albums, such as Good Time Lovin’ Man, I’m Still Missing You, and his most recent disc, Lost In Dirty Dancing. McDowell is also an avid painter, and has released several art prints of his work.

“I am so excited to be nominated for a People’s Choice award. It is always a good feeling to be recognized for whatever you do,” says Dolly Parton. “This year has been an amazing year! I released a new album Blue Smoke, traveled to Australia, Europe, and across America and even performed for 170,000 people at one show; woo that makes me tired just saying it. But seriously, I am honored to be nominated amongst these great gals.”
Dolly’s career has spanned nearly five decades and is showing no signs of slowing down. An internationally-renowned superstar, the iconic and irrepressible Parton has contributed countless treasures to the worlds of music, film and television. Some of her hit films have included Nine to Five, Steel Magnolias, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Rhinestone, Straight Talk, and Joyful Noise. Parton received two Oscar® nominations – one for writing the title tune to Nine to Five and the other for Travelin’ Thru from the film Transamerica.

People’s Choice Awards will air live from the Nokia Theater L.A. Live on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) on CBS.
About the People’s Choice Awards:
People's Choice, the original metric of pop culture, is dedicated to providing entertainment fans with a platform to express their opinions. The annual People's Choice Awards live telecast gives fans a chance to honor their favorite entertainers, while the People's Choice official website, PeoplesChoice.com, lets enthusiasts voice their choices year round through polls and editorial features.
People's Choice Awards celebrates fan favorites in movies, music and television and is the only major awards show where real people - not industry insiders - determine the nominees and winners, setting it apart from other awards shows.
In the age of American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and countless other franchises where the fans decide the outcome, People's Choice was ahead of its time.
For the past 40 years, many of Hollywood's most popular actors, musicians, television shows and movies have been named People's Choice Award winners by their fans. The event began in 1975 with 14 categories; winners included Mary Tyler Moore, Barbra Streisand and The Sting. In 2013, there were over 40 categories, honoring Katy Perry, Robert Downey, Jr. and The Hunger Games.
