Erica Nicole Gets Candid About Her Hearing Loss

Erica Nicole Gets Candid About Her Hearing Loss

(Nashville, TN)--Country newcomer and vocal powerhouse Erica Nicole has exclusively revealed to BILLBOARD her longtime struggle with hearing loss. Maintaining it as a secret for a long time, Erica Nicole, who recently celebrated her first Top 20 single, felt that it was finally time to talk about it.

Nicole reveals to Billboard: "For a long time, I have kept it in the hush hush category about it. Getting to share my story with fans, people should get to know me at my core. I feel guilty that I have kept it a secret for so long, because I think it's something that should be shared with people. I'm able to follow and live my dreams. Hearing impairment doesn't slow me down, and I wouldn't want it to slow anyone down -- whatever your dreams might be."

Nicole’s battle with hearing loss began in her late teens and has led her to become an advocate for the cause and lend her time and talent to charities. She is strongly involved with ECAD (Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities), an organization that is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for those facing such obstacles in their lives in addition to Nashville based Songs For Sound. This non-profit organization was inspired by Rascal Flatt’s lead vocalist, Gary Levox’s hearing impaired niece.

"I want my story to inspire people to never let someone tell them to keep something a secret," Nicole tells Billboard. "Being able to share my story of how I overcame it, how I go into the studio and try to deliver the best vocal that I can -- if that can inspire another child, adult, or a 65-year old woman, I want to connect with those people.”

Kenny Butterill Releases "Troubadour Tales" CD

Canadian Singer/Songwriter Kenny Butterill Releases "Troubadour Tales" CD
Guest Artists Include Donovan, Cindy Cashdollar, Redd Volkaert, Ray Bonneville, Zoe Muth, Audrey Auld, David Grier, Rob Ikes, Sarah Elizabeth Campbell and Washboard Hank

(Santa Cruz, CA) August 14, 2014 - NoBullSongs Records announces the release of a new studio album,TROUBADOUR TALES, by celebrated Americana and Alt-Country singer/songwriter/producer Kenny Butterill.  The CD, a follow up to his widely successful 2004 release JUST A SONGWRITER, is a compelling collection of a dozen stories and songs about real life, love and romance - all transcendent.
It is available for purchase on Amazon, iTunes and CD Baby.

The album features over twenty world-renowned guests including Donovan, Cindy Cashdollar, Redd Volkaert, Ray Bonneville, Zoe Muth, Audrey Auld, John Lee Sanders, Linda McRae, Jim Lewin, David Grier, Rob Ikes, and Washboard Hank.  Of note, this album marks the last recording of the late Sarah Elizabeth Campbell who adds rich harmony to "Greatest Love Story Never Told."

Recorded in ten studios over the past year, the project includes a cameo appearance by the legendary Scottish music icon Donovan on the upcoming September single, "Gaia Blues," adding what can only be called a perfect harmonica duet to Kenny's vocals.
Donovan, who also helped mix this track about Mankind's relationship with Mother Earth, remarked, "I really love this important 'green' song of Kenny's dealing with such an urgent matter ... it was a great collaboration with him."
Other highlights on TROUBADOUR TALES include the blistering satirical "Good Thing That Couldn't Happen Here" and "Flying With Buddha" a poignant song about life and death.  "Hocus Pocus," Butterill's personal tribute to JJ Cale, was recorded just three weeks before Cale's passing.

"It was an honor to work with Kenny.  This is one of the best albums I've ever heard.  I know Cale would have liked it too," shared producer David Teagarden, a long-time colleague and friend of JJ Cale who mastered the CD in Tulsa, OK.  Butterill has been called 'the romantic poet of Americana music' and is often compared to Cale, Gordon Lightfoot and John Prine.

Butterill is touring through 2015 in North America and Europe to support the release.
