First the banjo, then a fiddle or two and now all they’re missin’ is a jug and a washboard and this would be one humdinger of a jug band. A few other things that I forgot, a front porch a couple of rocking chairs a dab of moonshine and a mountain, say maybe somewhere in West Virginia, Kentucky or Tennessee, that there’d be the best damn recipe I could come up with. Just in case I didn’t offend everyone equally let me also add North Carolina and South Carolina.
That was my first impression of, Cumberland Blues, also I had enough seriousness for one day. I will definitely have to give it to them they are really talented, and most likely this would be a great show especially at an outdoor venue. Maiden Voyage begins to really display his flat-picking. When someone can get those strings moving right and that fiddle going, I really believe you can do no wrong. But, I mean no wonder why this is the title track of the album. It is an utter raw display of talent that is second to none.
Won’t Fight Alone Again, leaves me with no alternative but to once again maintain seriousness. In this song you can really see his musical influences of Jerry Garcia and Bob Dylan coming through, but I don’t think either ever reached the level that he has. The Sweet Irish Lass, opens up just as you’d expect her too. Uhhh, that’s not what I meant. It’s an Irish jig.
Next, Big Legged Woman, you really get the Chicago blues influence with that flat picking he is well known for. The lyrics are great, I had only one problem with this one even though it was four minutes long I just felt it was over before I was ready for it to end. Breakfast at Georges, is just another song on this album that makes you say to yourself, it can’t get any better than this. This one is another instrumental, and I bet it was a difficult choice to make for the title track.
It’s kind of a shame that I get these albums song-by-song. I can imagine this album playing straight on through, especially where I live. This just reminds me of one of the great outdoor shows in a field in the spring down here in Florida that would last for a few days. And with that thought comes, Make it Through the Night, because those shows you’d go to a campground area afterword set up a tent and hundreds, if not thousands of others would be camping out as well.
Senorita is another incredible instrumental. And, Another Sunny Day in Caroline, bluegrass is thrown heavily in the mix.. This is really get up and move music. I don’t believe anyone could walk away from a show without complete exhaustion, and if they had a summer tour playing through Florida not only would I go, but I would probably have to be carried out on a stretcher from heat exhaustion.
This is one of those albums that you really need to purchase the entire CD. You really need to attend a show, or if you play guitar you really need to get on his site and either purchase his teaching DVD or get lucky enough to get lessons from him. Eric Lambert is a true master who has been doing this for over 35 years. Just add his friends and I don’t think there are more educated musicians in this genre. If I was absolutely forced to choose my favorite song, I would pick, Won’t Fight Alone Again, but I won’t because I have the entire album.

Jackson Browne, Loretta Lynn, Flaco Jiménez and Taj Mahal to Receive Lifetime Achievement Awards at Americana Music Association's Honors & Awards Show on September 17
Nashville, Tenn. -- July 8, 2014 -- The Americana Music Association announces the selection of Jackson Browne, Loretta Lynn, Flaco Jiménez and Taj Mahal as Lifetime Achievement Award winners to be presented at its 13th Annual Honors and Awards ceremony, presented by Nissan, on Wednesday, September 17 at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The show will be taped for air on PBS later this year in the Austin City Limits timeslot and titled ACL Presents: Americana Music Festival 2014.
Jackson Browne will receive the “Spirit of Americana Award, Free Speech in Music” co-presented with the First Amendment Center.
Whether galvanizing supporters of clean energy in the 70s or challenging U.S. foreign policy in the 80s, Browne's social voice has been almost as widely heard and appreciated as his era-shaping songs and performances. He's sung on the behalf of Farm Aid, Amnesty International, MoveOn.org's Vote For Change and was a co-founder of Musicians United for Safe Energy and nukefree.org. Browne’s music helped stamp the template for the fully-formed songwriter/artist during a golden age, and he’s in the Rock and Roll and Songwriter’s Halls of Fame because of it.
He's never hesitated to use his free speech to support what he believes in, especially protecting the environment. “On a night when I was singing my most personal reflections on life," Browne wrote in an Op-Ed piece for the UK Daily Mail, “I wanted to bring up the life of the planet.”
The Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting goes to Loretta Lynn.
Her story is an American classic that happens to be true. As her famous song says, she was coal miner’s daughter from Johnson County, Kentucky. Yet she became one of the most pivotal and admired women in the history of American music because of the way she challenged convention, sang her mind and achieved stunning success doing so. Her songwriting was unprecedented for its candor among women in country music, and a string of hits such as “The Pill,” “Don’t Come Home A Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind)” and “Rated “X”” forced country music and its fans to confront sexism and double standards. She’s received a GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award and a Kennedy Center Honor.
Flaco Jiménez will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award as an Instrumentalist.
The most accomplished and in-demand conjunto tejano accordion player of all time, San Antonio, TX born musician Flaco Jiménez has collaborated with dozens of legends, spreading one of the world’s great musical genres into unexpected places. His father was a major conjunto pioneer, but Flaco quickly found a crossover path working with country rocker Doug Sahm and then Ry Cooder, Dr. John, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones. He’s won several GRAMMY Awards, including one with super-group Los Super Seven. It’s his joyful accordion lines you hear lending vigor to “Streets of Bakersfield” by Dwight Yoakam and Buck Owens. Jiménez helped foster a more inclusive and diverse path for Americana music.
In the category of Lifetime Achievement in Performance, the honor goes to Taj Mahal, who says he plays “for the goddess of music.”
Raised in a musical family and steeped in jazz and R&B, his unique take on traditional music has always had a spiritual element. His first career path was as a dairy farmer in Massachusetts, but he followed his musical interests to Los Angeles in the early 60s where he formed the Rising Sons with Ry Cooder. He took his stage name around 1960 and pursued folk and blues, eventually embracing its Caribbean and African roots. He’d go on to work with the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Etta James, Ali Farka Toure and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, among many others. Through a forty-year career, Taj Mahal has been a shining light of integrity and interpretive brilliance.

I'm Just Me
I'm Just Me - She Let's Me Run - Wish I'd Thought of that Before - Trouble In Mind - Can't Get A Hold On Letting Go - Freeborn Man - I'm Not Ready - Do Something - Better Left A Memory - Mama's Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys
This is one stunning CD from Nashville recording artist (formerly from Omaha, Nebraska) Tommy Buller. Quite frankly, this is the best CD this young man has ever recorded as far as I'm concerned. There's two incredibly well done songs on this CD. The first one reveals the true country voice and guitar pickin' of Tommy Buller. He certainly has paid his dues down in Nashville, he's been there quite a few years now, and this delightful CD is acoustic in nature, just the way I like 'real' country music. The second remarkable song on this CD is Tommy's 8-year old son, Brad, who sings "Mama's Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys." I was so impressed with this little boy's rendition of the very famous Ed Bruce song, I sent a copy off to Ed right away. This is the 'real' voice that gives the song incredible authenticity. It's hard to tell at this early stage where exactly this little boy is going to go with his wonderful singing voice, but Tommy is already in that serious 'please let me be real country' category, and that is revealed to all of us listeners as we recognize the many different gifted voices, songwriters, instrumentalists that have preceded us in Tommy's voice. Tommy has also taken the opportunity to reveal to us his own songwriting abilities. No less than five songs on this CD are written by him. He's not afraid to talk about 'love' and how it affects him, and us, and it isn't all a pick-up truck to him, which seems to be the end parallel in top-40 popular music, which certainly can't be classified as 'country.' I really like the addition of Mike Sole's fiddle on "Trouble in Mind," which seems to make the song stand right out, along with matching guitar leads, both electric and acoustic. Super good country. Country blues it is, and I can't think of anyone right now that can authentically do it as well as Tommy Buller. His originals are love songs, even though they are full of blues, and his ability to run the gamut is proven without a doubt when he fires into "Freeborn Man." I was a very close friend of Jimmy Martin, and I love this rendition of one of my heroes. Five stars Tommy, the Rural Roots Music Commission will see and hear this just like I do. Make plans to be with us October 3-4-5, in Fremont, Nebraska

WORLD DEMAND FOR BELLAMY BROTHERS CONTINUES WITH MORE EXOTIC DATES ADDED TO 2014 TOUR SCHEDULE
Brothers Add Dates in Qatar, Australia and New Caledonia in Addition to Upcoming Performances in Switzerland, Belgium, France, Norway, Germany and Canada
Nashville, Tenn. (July 7, 2014) - The Bellamy Brothers' 2014 international tour continues to pay dividends for the legendary Country duo. The Bellamys' 2014 itinerary is shaping up to be one of the most demanding tour schedules since the group's inception nearly 40 years ago. Today, Howard and David Bellamy announced tour dates in Qatar, Australia and New Caledonia, in addition to upcoming performances in Switzerland, Belgium, France, Norway, Germany and Canada. In February of this year, the Bellamys made touring history when they became the first Country music artists to tour in Sri Lanka and India, selling out shows in both countries.
"On the international scene, the Bellamy Brothers are the most demanded Country music act in the touring industry," says the brothers' international talent agent, Jude Seale. "They are able to sell out shows in India, Sri Lanka, New Caledonia, Qatar and other nations where other country artists aren't recognized."
David Bellamy adds, "The international tour circuit landed us permanent jet lag since we started our career almost four decades ago and it seems like it keeps getting busier every year. We are thankful for all of the countries around the world who have supported us, and continue to support us, over the years."
The Bellamys also plan to release new music in conjunction with several international recording artists. The brothers will travel to Brazil later this year to record with Brazilian rock star Eduardo Araújo and will also reunite with Swiss rock sensation Gölä for another collaboration, scheduled to be released in September. The brothers' first album with Gölä (BB&G: The Greatest Hits Sessions - released in 2010) debuted at #1 on the Swiss Music Chart and soon thereafter reached double-platinum sales.
In addition, the Bellamys have released a three-song EP and music video titled, Boobs / Texas Girls (watch the music video HERE). The EP and video serve as a teaser for the brothers' 40th anniversary album which is set for a spring 2015 release. The two-disc set will feature 17 new songs and 17 of the hits.
About the Bellamy Brothers
Throughout their 39 years in the music business, the multi-platinum selling Bellamy Brothers have charted 15 #1 hits on the US country and pop music charts. Hits like "Let Your Love Flow," "If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me)," "Redneck Girl," and "Old Hippie" are the songs that helped to make the brothers household names. Today, their seamless harmonies remain perfectly intact as they continue to travel the United States and international tour circuits, performing over 150 dates each year. Rolling Stone recently included the Bellamy Brothers classic "Old Hippie" on their list of the 100 Greatest Country Songs of All Time. “Let Your Love Flow” was named on BMI’s list of Top 100 Songs of the Century and "If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me)" was chosen by The Boot as the #1 Top Pickup Line in Country Music.
