CMA TO PRESENT SONGWRITERS SHOWCASE AT TIN PAN SOUTH MARCH 27

CMA TO PRESENT SONGWRITERS SHOWCASE
AT TIN PAN SOUTH MARCH 27

Bill Anderson, Jim Beavers, and Bobby Pinson Share the Stories Behind Their Hits
NASHVILLE - CMA will present a special songwriters showcase featuring Bill Anderson, Jim Beavers, and Bobby Pinson as part of Nashville Songwriters Association International’s 22nd Annual Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival on Thursday, March 27 at the Listening Room Café in Nashville.
Produced by NSAI, Tin Pan South is the world's largest all-songwriter festival. Last year nearly 350 talented songwriters performed more than 90 shows at 10 of Nashville's top music venues. Thousands of music fans attend the event annually to hear songwriters tell stories behind hits they have written and perform the songs as they were originally composed.
“Nashville’s songwriters are among the most talented storytellers in the world,” said Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “CMA and NSAI’s Tin Pan South both have traditions of promoting and honoring songwriters, so we are proud to partner with them again this year.”
Recognizing excellence is central to CMA’s mission and the Association recognizes songwriters throughout the year with the CMA Award for Song of the Year, which is presented on the annual broadcast to the winning songwriters, the annual Triple Play Awards, and the creation of a rotating category for songwriters in the coveted Country Music Hall of Fame.
In addition, the CMA Board of Directors created and launched the CMA Songwriters Series in 2005 at Joe’s Pub in New York City, which has grown to include shows in Austin, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Washington D.C. at the Library of Congress, and at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2012, the series expanded to the U.K. and Ireland and last year was included as part of the International Marketing Summit in Paris. The CMA Songwriters Series returned to the U.K. in 2014 as part of the C2C (Country to Country) festival, which is presented at The O2 in Dublin and London in partnership with CMA.
CMA also offers its songwriter members access to affordable health insurance. CMA Instrumental Healthcare offers exceptional benefits with more options to better fit the needs of its membership.
“Whisperin’" Bill Anderson composed his first classic hit in 1958 at age 19 with “City Lights” and he continues to compose more than 50 years later as evidenced by his CMA Song of the Year Awards for 2007’s “Give It Away” recorded by George Strait and 2005’s “Whiskey Lullaby” recorded by Alison Krauss and Brad Paisley. His songs have been recorded by artists as diverse as James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dean Martin, Ray Price, Debbie Reynolds, Porter Wagoner, Lawrence Welk, Faron Young, and many others.
Beavers’ résumé includes jobs at Capitol Records and Virgin Records, as well as being a touring musician for Lee Ann Womack. He has composed eight No. 1 songs including “Drink a Beer” recorded by Luke Bryan, “Red Solo Cup” recorded by Toby Keith, “Watching Airplanes” recorded by Gary Allan, and “Felt Good on My Lips” recorded by Tim McGraw.
Pinson has penned five No. 1 hits.  His compositions include “Want To” and "All I Wanna Do” recorded by Sugarland, “She Never Cried in Front of Me” recorded by Keith, and “Won’t Be Lonely Long” recorded by LeAnn Rimes. In 2009, he was awarded the BMI Sonwriter of the Year Award

CMA Presents at Tin Pan South will be held Thursday, March 27 (6:00 PM/CT). Admission is $15 at the door or with a Tin Pan Fast Access Pass. The Listening Room Café is located at 217 Second Avenue South and can be reached at (615)259-3600.
