CHARLEY PRIDE UPCOMING TOUR OF CANADA

CHARLEY PRIDE MAINTAINS INTERNATIONAL FOCUS WITH UPCOMING TOUR OF CANADA

Nashville, Tenn. (January 8, 2014) - Country music legend CHARLEY PRIDE has performed internationally on a regular basis for well over 45 years.  Now well into his 70s, Pride continues to wow audiences worldwide with his timeless voice, renowned stage show and a breathtaking repertoire that includes more than 50 Top 10 Country hits.

Pride returns to Canada during May and June of 2014 with appearances scheduled in six provinces including Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Saskatchewan.

“I’ve played all of the provinces in Canada at one time or another” says Pride.  “My first Canadian shows were with Bill Anderson and Faron Young.  I loved it then.  And I love it now.  The show promoters and country music fans in Canada have been wonderful to me over the years.”

Pride has long been considered an international ambassador for Country music.  This status was formally recognized back in October of 2012 when he was inducted into the IEBA (International Entertainment Buyers Association) Hall Of Fame.

In the 14 months since, Pride, who is also a Country Music Hall of Famer and Grammy winner, has performed for Country music fans all across the globe.  His twelve show tour of Ireland and the United Kingdom during late 2012 was a resounding success that included a stop at London’s IndigO2, a multi-night engagement at Waterfront Hall Auditorium in Belfast and an appearance on the “Later… with Jools Holland” television show.  Last year, Pride headlined the Lofoten Country Music Festival in Norway, enjoyed a successful nine date tour of Canada and completely sold out his 16 date tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Tickets for the Canadian shows are on sale now.

NEW ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Kayla Calabrese

You can thank the CVS drugstore chain for getting Kayla Calabrese excited about Country Music. After all, she was born in Pine Beach, N.J., far from the nearest ranch or honky-tonk. Her family is pure Italian-American. Though she definitely enjoyed singing, Calabrese grew up dreaming more of being a doctor than a Country crooner.
All of that changed when she and her mother took part in a scavenger hunt for tickets to a Martina McBride concert in Reading, Pa. Amazingly, they beat everyone else to the CVS pharmacy where the prize was hidden behind some greeting cards. With that, a new dream took shape.
At 17, Calabrese made the pilgrimage to Nashville. There, she earned a nursing degree from Belmont University, worked at Baptist Hospital and taught gymnastics. She also met Kent Wells, who mentored her as she began writing songs and produced her as she recorded her debut EP.
The self-titled results were released digitally by Go Time Records in September. As co-writer on all six tracks, Calabrese shows that she knows how to come up with a hook and, as a singer, drive it home. With McBride and Carrie Underwood evident among her influences, she shines against powerful instrumental backdrops.
On the power ballad “Kiss Me,” which she wrote with Tami Hinesh, the message rolls out over muscular guitar arpeggios. It’s Calabrese’s buoyant delivery that bats this single all the way from the Jersey shore into the heart of Country.

Award-Winning Country Artist Bobby Wills Signs With MDM Recordings Inc.

~ Drops New Single “Crazy Enough” January 27, 2014 ~

Wills to Perform During the Golden Globe® Awards Weekend
in Los Angeles at the
OH CANADA COCKTAIL PARTY
To Benefit Winnipeg’s New Canadian Museum for Human Rights

Toronto, ON; January 7, 2014 - 2013 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Awards Rising Star Award-Winner Bobby Wills has signed a two year production and distribution deal (inclusive of back catalogue) with leading Canadian country music label MDM Recordings Inc. (MDM/Universal Music Canada).  As part of the deal Wills has secured management with powerhouse partners and industry veterans Mike Denney and CCMA award-winner Mitch Merrett.

Shares Denney, President of MDM “We have known Bobby for many years and have watched his career takeoff; 2014 is set to be another strong year for him with the release of his next album.  He is a very talented musician and a welcome addition to our ever-growing roster.”

The first single “Crazy Enough” off his forthcoming album (of the same title) will be released to Canadian country music radio on Monday, January 27, 2014.  A departure from his previous hits, “Crazy Enough” is an explosion of full instrumentation, blending acoustic and electric guitars in complement to heavy percussion.

“I have admired the MDM team, and have a great deal of respect for their commitment to the “road-family” spirit and their strong collaborative effort with the artists they represent.  This is the perfect new home for me as I introduce my latest project and mix things up with a new sound!” says Wills.

Channelling an alter-ego rebel spirit, Wills pushes his artistic envelope with edgier lyrics featured in the new single, “I don’t back up and I don’t back down… I’ve never been a play it safe kinda guy, so if you’re thinking about calling my bluff, I ain’t all the way crazy, just crazy enough.”  The track is co-written by Wills, Walt Aldridge and Michael Pyle.  The new 10-track album is set for release in the summer of 2014 and will feature a blend of Wills signature more traditional country sound, contrasted with a raw, rock-country vibe.

Wills will be performing this week during the OH CANADA COCKTAIL PARTY in Los Angeles on Thursday evening January 9th from 8 pm to 1 am on the stunning Roof Garden of the exclusive The Peninsula Beverly Hills.  Human rights activist/producer/director Kweku Mandela, a grandson of the late South African activist and former president Nelson Mandela, has joined actress/comedienne Catherine O’Hara and comedian/director David Steinberg on the host committee to benefit the Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, a brand new national museum scheduled to open September 2014 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
