CHRIS YOUNG TO TREK TO DUBLIN AND LONDON AGAIN IN 2014

Nashville, TN – November 20, 2013 - After making his inaugural trip to the UK and Ireland earlier this year for the CMA Songwriter’s Series with Kristian Bush and Brett James, RCA Records Nashville artist Chris Young is making plans for another hop across the pond in 2014 to perform back-to-back dates at the C2C Festival. On March 15 he’ll take the stage in Dublin, Ireland then travel to London, England on March 16 for the closing date of the festival.

Young will reunite with Bush and James before this year comes to a close for two intimate shows next month in Decatur, Georgia at Eddie’s Attic. Tickets are onsale HERE for the December 1 and 2 dates.

Just weeks after releasing his critically acclaimed new album, A.M., Young isn’t slowing down anytime soon.  His current single, “Aw Naw,” broke into the Top 3 on the country radio charts and he recently rejoined Brad Paisley for the fall leg of his Beat This Summer Tour. Young is also slated to present at the American Country Awards airing December 10 on FOX.

His current single is “The Mona Lisa,” from his album, “Wheelhouse,” which also includes the back-to-back No. 1 hits “Southern Comfort Zone” and “Beat This Summer.” “Wheelhouse” is Paisley’s first self-produced project, on which he wrote or co-wrote all of the tracks. GARY AND FRANCINE HARTMAN BENEFIT SHOW DEC. 11

GARY AND FRANCINE HARTMAN BENEFIT SHOW DEC. 11
PRESENTED BY ANTONE’S AND CATFISH CONCERTS

All proceeds will help noted Texas music historian recover from disaster that erased a lifetime of personal and professional history

AUSTIN, Texas – Catfish Concerts presents a benefit concert for noted Texas music historian Dr. Gary Hartman and his wife Francine on Dec. 11 at Antone’s, 2015 E. Riverside Drive. Hartman, the executive director for the Center for Texas Music History at Texas State University, lost a lifetime of personal and professional history in recent floods. The Hartmans’ house, which was submerged under six feet of water, will be unlivable for at least four months.

All profits from ticket sales at the Antone’s benefit concert will go directly to the Gary Hartman Recovery Fund. Scheduled performers include Asleep at the Wheel’s Ray Benson, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Shinyribs, Cody Canada, HalleyAnna and Hartman’s own Lone Star Swing. “Gary’s work with musical history here in Texas has been invaluable,” Benson says. “This is our chance to pay him back.” Hubbard echoes the sentiment: “Gary has been a big part of Texas music, promoting and preserving its history, and here’s our chance to help get him back on his feet.”

Please see below for details about the Gary Hartman Recovery Fund live auction on Dec. 11 at Antone’s. Items include a private show with Terri Hendrix at Catfish Concerts, a Robert Earl Keen autographed guitar, lunch with legendary songwriter Radney Foster and Kerrville Folk Festival 2014 passes.

“Our hearts went out to Gary and Francine when we learned about their devastating loss during the recent floods,” says Jenni Finlay, an Austin-based Americana radio promoter who runs Catfish Concerts with author Brian T. Atkinson. “We immediately thought, What would Gary do? He’d show his support through music, of course. The outpouring of love and kindness we’ve seen from the Texas music community on his and Francine’s behalf has been truly inspiring.”

Catfish Concerts will provide Central Texas Red Cross donation canisters at Antone’s during the show for those wishing to contribute to flood recovery throughout the Central Texas region.

Direct donations toward the Gary Hartman Recovery Fund can be made here through Dec. 14: www.jennifinlaypromotions.com/garyhartmanfund.htm.

NEW ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: BRENNEN LEIGH AND NOEL MCKAY

NEW ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: BRENNEN LEIGH AND NOEL MCKAY
By Bob Doerschuk
© 2013 CMA Close Up® News Service / Country Music Association®, Inc.
Before the World Was Made is a delicious mix: raw, retro Country plus sweet irony. That’s apparently the specialty of Brennen Leigh and Noel McKay, the Austin-based duo whose debut, on their B&N imprint, is hilarious, sentimental and profound, usually all at the same time.
Produced by Gurf Murlix, with only one of its 12 tracks penned by an outside writer, this album draws from Guy Clark, Lucinda Williams, the Louvin Brothers and, perhaps unconsciously, Nichols and May. Backed by a bare-bones band that consists of a drummer playing mainly snare, an acoustic bassist and occasional guests, they ponder love’s absurdities. A theme emerges in their titles alone. “Breaking Up Is Easy” is followed by “Breaking Up and Making Up Again,” in which McKay intones, “I forgot that you’re a bore,” and Leigh responds, “And I forgot how loud you snore,” both singing with a delightfully flat, deadpan delivery.
And who could resist the wisdom of “Let’s Go to Lubbock on Vacation,” which reasons that if they survive a week or so there, they’ll know they’re in love? Or “The Only Other Person in the Room,” a forlorn pickup song involving the last two folks in the honky-tonk at closing time?
But then they close with “Great Big Oldsmobile,” an unexpectedly touching pledge of lifelong adoration. “I’ll be deafer than a post and grayer than a ghost, but you’ll still steam my glasses up when you’re 92,” McKay promises — and we believe him.
