SUSAN TONEY LIGHT AND DARK

SUSAN TONEY MAKES COUNTRY MUSIC INTRODUCTIONS
OFFICIAL WITH SINGLE RELEASE
“THE TRAIL OF LIGHT AND DARK”
Eclectic Singer/Songwriter Delivers Alternate
Introspect To The Format

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 21, 2013)—Strange Child Records is pleased to introduce American recording artist Susan Toney. The multi-talented musician, singer/songwriter and transcendent vocalist, makes her entry as a mainstay official with her debut single entitled “The Trail Of Light And Dark** (on radio August 27, 2013 and available via PlayMpE).

Displaying Toney’s singer/songwriter and country/folk roots, the debut single makes evident her embrace of the multi-genres she is drawn to (with a fusion of country, pop, rock, and rhythm and blues) and her talents to sculpt poetic musical portraits “soul-ly” for the interpreter.

Celebrated as a poignant lyricist and theatrical storyteller, “The Trail Of Light And Dark” (written by Toney) sets precedent as the lead single from her CD project entitled LOVE IS THE CURE-Special Edition (slated for a September 24, 2013 release). The emotionally expressive and infectious track celebrates the freedom from the chains that bind in an unhealthy relationship and the revelation to end a toxic cycle. The triumphs and tribulations endured are lyrically painted with chiaroscuro imagery throughout the composition as a contrast between light and dark and balanced by the tranquil mid-tempo arrangement that colors the canvas with hope.

The song is an honest open discussion and revealing personal introspect of pain, choices, freedom and victory—a story about taking care of yourself and being aware of emotional danger that lies quietly in wait. It’s a listening experience about a complex topic—human relationship and how fragile our hearts and spirits can become in them,” Susan Toney reveals.

Produced by Grammy-winning, multi-platinum producer David Z (Prince/John Mayall/Etta James/Eric Clapton), the track is complete with accompaniment by Mike Rojas (piano, keyboards); Pat Buchanan (electric guitar); Jack Holder (acoustic/electric guitar); Steve Mackey (bass); Lynn Williams (drums/percussion) and Bekka Bramlett (background vocals).

Encompassing the influences of her heritage, Toney delivers a transparent, introspective window into her soul with a new sense of wisdom and confidence in her message and her craft—all mused by a new chance on life—a miracle. Susan miraculously survived a rollover car crash in 2003; suffering from a multitude of life threatening injuries, her survival was grave.

With a faithful heart, unbridled spirit, and a strength that rushed through her veins, Susan recognized the tragic accident as an ultimate part of God’s plan and a saving Grace. With renewed purpose and zeal, Toney returned to the recording studio where she sought new inspiration by revisiting and addressing the past—her life’s journey of past loves and losses, triumphs and defeats—and “The Trail Of Light And Dark” is just one page in the chapter of the Susan Toney story.

“With different turns and high hurdles, it took me a while to get here,” Toney added. “But, I believe I’m right where I’m supposed to be musically and I think the country music format and its listeners are my ‘welcome home.’”

Hailing from Los Angeles, Toney ventured south toward Nashville, Tennessee to fulfill her creative vision to step far and beyond her own boundaries to explore the endless possibilities in a musical community where the imagination runs wild and musicianship bountiful. Music City afforded Susan Toney room to grow and a door wide open to blossoming, organic, creative expression.

A decorated award winner (American Songwriting Festival/Billboard Songwriting Contest), Susan’s talents as a songstress have been recognized by her peers and the industry. Toney penned two songs that appear on the John Townsend album entitled THE ROAD LEADS HOME, including the title cut, and her music has been featured in various independent and feature films including “Just Don’t Mention Love,” the main track in Little City (Miramax Productions).

The Susan Toney team is comprised of John Bokowski, Jr./Kings Road Group, Inc.; Music City Media-- acting Nashville liaison heading up the country media and marketing campaign; Spin Doctors Promotions-Nashville will be responsible for the single radio promotion; Steve Baker/Visual Image Marketing will service and promote the corresponding “The Trail Of Light And Dark” music video. Ed Gertler will oversee all digital distribution and social marketing; the tune will be available on iTunes and via most major digital music retailers August 27, 2013.

LADIES NIGHT OUT

LADIES NIGHT OUT

AUGUST 16, 2013-LANCASTER, PA
AMERICAN MUSIC THEATRE

Seven of country music's great female artists gathered together on Aug. 16, this past Friday night in Lancaster, PA for a super awesome package of country music as it should be played and listened to.

Crystal Gayle, Barbara Fairchild, Ava Barber, Norma Jean, Jett Williams, Jan Howard, and Shelly West gathered together to put on one of the best shows that has appeared at the American Music Theatre.  I promise you that no man should ever get in the middle of a conversation when 7 women are talking over old times.  You will not get a word in edgewise, but just listening to their stories let me know that they are a great part of the reason that country music has come so far, then when the new artists started taking over it has started downhill like a snowball rolling to hell.  These ladies were awesome to work with, did their jobs, met their fans, signed autographs, took pictures, shook hands and stayed until the last fan had left the building.

The one thing that was sad was that Leona Williams took a fall when she got off of the plane in Harrisburg, PA and dislocated her shoulder and was unable to appear on the show, which worried all of us until we heard from her that she was doing alright.  She is home in MO in a Branson hospital where they are keeping her under observation.  She has asked me to tell all of you that she appreciates your concerns and prayers for her well being.  She loves all of you, and I can tell you that the ladies truly missed her great presence and voice on the show, but there will be other times.

To go into detail about the show would take more space than I can have at this time, but I can tell you this, that when the show was over, the entire cast of the show received a standing ovation from the audience, and it was well deserved.  Each of the ladies still sang with super great vocals and looked as great as ever, and that is my heartfelt feelings, and I must say I enjoyed keeping my mouth shut for the time I was there to host the show.  All I had to do was tell them what time they would be scheduled to appear, how much time to do, and point them to the stage.  THERE WERE AWESOME.

And now about the band that backed the ladies and their music.  Call them musicians, pickers (and I hate that word), players, whatever you use to introduce them, I was honored and amazed at the sound that the 4 musicians gave for each performer.  It was as close to their recordings as they could ever get.  Bandleader Dick McVey put this group together, and he did a masterful job of getting charts to all players, going over all of their music, and then giving them a short rehearsal at the venue.  Dick played base, Doug Jernigan is as good as it will ever get on steel guitar, Glen Dickerson on lead guitar, and he and Doug made it worth my while to just sit and listen to them work their magic behind each artist, never once having to scramble on what they were going to play, Dewayne Harper on drums, borrowed from the Crystal Gayle Band, and what an addition he was to put together the rhythm section with Dick McVey holding down the fort and leading the group through each individual lady's segment.  It was truly country music at its best.  My congratulations to the band as one of the best I have ever used.  They did do their homework and in my mind, they played for the music, and yes they received pay for their work, but they worked for the love of what they do, and I can tell you the audience appreciated their great efforts.  Thanks to Dick for putting this group together. I will surely use them any time I can because they are loyal to their word.

To the Ladies I thank you for an awesome professional job, and for never missing a beat on entertaining your fans.  The youth of today would do well to take a lesson from these seven women, but as I said, never interrupt seven women talking over old times, if you are a man.  It was a great night for me, the audience and the American Music Theatre.  Wish you could have been there with us.

SARAH DARLING ON FOX & FRIENDS THIS SATURDAY

SARAH DARLING TO MAKE NATIONAL DEBUT OF "LITTLE UMBRELLAS" ON FOX & FRIENDS THIS SATURDAY

Darling will also perform on CBS New York's "The Couch" Friday, August 23
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Wednesday, August 21, 2013) -- Country music star Sarah Darling has been making heartaches disappear all summer long with her latest feel-good break-up anthem, "Little Umbrellas," and now she'll debut the song on national TV on FOX & Friends this Saturday, August 24 (6 a.m. to 10 a.m. EDT). Darling will also perform on CBS New York's "The Couch," Friday, August 23 (7 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT) where she'll share what it was like to tour with Alan Jackson, release her first EDM remix, and more, all in support of her two headlining shows in the New York area this weekend.
Making her mark on the country genre with her Top 35 Country Billboard sales single, "Home To Me," in early 2013, Darling released "Little Umbrellas" at the 'unofficial' start of summer over Memorial Day weekend. The song spawned immediate praise from music critics including Robert K. Oermann (Music Row) who called it "perky, bopping and extremely catchy," and catapulted to the Top 12 on Sirius XM's "The Highway Hot 30 Live." It continues to earn radio spins weekly.
"'Little Umbrellas' is my first independent single release, so it was a pretty big risk for my team and I to put it out there. I'm truly taken back and humbled by the incredible momentum it's generated, " she said. "Thanks to all of my fans and industry supporters who have helped make it my 'Soundtrack to Summer 2013!' It's the greatest gratification when I look out in the crowd I see people up out of their seats dancing and singing along to it...that's why I do what I do!"
Darling will have the chance to thank her fans personally during a live streaming concert on StageIt tonight, Wednesday, August 21 at 8 p.m. EDT / 7 p.m. CDT. All available tickets were sold-out in less than 45 minutes after the show was announced via her Facebook and Twitter pages, but thanks to earnest hankering from fans, additional tickets have been added! To purchase, click here. Ticketholders and tippers have the chance to win exclusive prizes like autographed CDs, photos and even a personal call from Darling over Skype.
Additionally, over the next three weeks, fans can beat the August heat with Yallwire's exclusive "Little Umbrellas" prize pack contest. Register to win exclusive Sarah Darling merchandise including a signed umbrella and CD, which includes the EDM remix version of "Little Umbrellas" (ft. DJ DU). Darling will appear on the Yallwire homepage "Hot List" for coming weeks. Spread the word on Twitter and Facebook using #LittleUmbrellas.
Darling will perform this Friday, August 23 at The Newton Theatre in Newton, NJ and again in the tropical, tiki hut setting of the Dublin Deck in Patchogue, NY on Sunday, August 25. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.

CHRIS YOUNG RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL

CHRIS YOUNG RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL
READIES TO HIT THE ROAD THIS WEEK
STARTING AUGUST 22 IN MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA

NASHVILLE, TN...(August 20, 2013)...Singer-songwriter Chris Young returned home to Nashville this past weekend after being admitted last week to Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver for a dangerous bacterial infection as a result of a small cut on his leg. Chris was en route to a tour date in Montana on Tuesday, August 13th when he began to go into septic shock and was taken by ambulance to the Denver, Colorado hospital. The medical team, consisting of Dr. Anthony Canfield, Dr. Wendy Gill, and Dr. Janet Suarez, responded quickly and immediately started Young on medications to stop the infection from spreading. In addition, an emergency surgery was scheduled for shortly after midnight on August 14th where they removed the infection from Chris’s leg.

Chris is now home under his physician's care and expected to make a full recovery. As expected, his mobility is currently impacted by the surgery and his doctor has advised he wait a full week post-surgery to resume touring, and will return to the road starting with Brad Paisley’s “Beat This Summer Tour Presented By Cracker Barrel Old Country Store” on Thursday, August 22 in Mountain View, CA. His show in Redding, CA will be rescheduled to September 8.

“I want to thank all of my fans for their thoughts and prayers,” said Chris. “I received amazing care from Dr. Suarez, Dr. Gill and Dr. Canfield and all the I.C.U. nurses who literally saved my life,” he continued. “I’m happy to be home and can’t wait to get back out on the road.”

Chris continues to share progress updates with his fans on Twitter @ChrisYoungMusic. His new single, “Aw Naw” is quickly climbing the country singles charts and is the first single from his forthcoming album, A.M., which will be released Sept. 17 on RCA Records Nashville.

NEW ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Charlie Worsham

NEW ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Charlie Worsham
By Bob Doerschuk
© 2013 CMA Close Up® News Service / Country Music Association®, Inc.
Born in Mississippi, Charlie Worsham learned enough banjo by age 10 for bluegrass legend Jimmy Martin to invite him onstage at the Ryman Auditorium. Two years after that, he joined Mike Snider on the air at the Opry. After attending Boston’s Berklee College of Music, he headed to Nashville and eventually earned himself a deal with Warner Bros. Records.
On his new album, Rubberband, released today, Worsham distinguishes himself by his unerring taste and musical subtlety. As co-producer with Ryan Tyndell and co-writer on all 11 tracks, he knows his way into each lyric. He does play some burning leads, but most of the album is toned down, rich in acoustic texture. His banjo stays in the background, enhancing the Country flavor. Drums are often muted and minimal.
This gives Worsham room to tell his stories. Starting with solo guitar and vocal, “How I Learned To Pray” (written by Worsham, Tyndell and Jeremy Spillman) points not to church services “with a chapter and a verse” but to small epiphanies in everyday life as sources of redemption. On “Love Don’t Die Easy” (Worsham, Tyndell and Steve Bogard), metaphor mixes with clear-eyed observation to mourn broken souls haunted by love long or recently lost. Worsham finds daylight too, stirring cautious hope for the future during a morning after on the album’s first single, “Could It Be” (Worsham, Tyndell and Marty Dodson). His gift is to be able to whisper intimately one moment and, with minimal effort, rock the house the next — and that’s something they don’t teach at Berklee.

IN HIS OWN WORDS
SONG YOU WOULD LOVE TO COVER
“I’d really love to cover a Katie Perry song – maybe ‘I Kissed a Girl’?”
MUSICAL HERO
“I grew up on Vince Gill and Marty Stuart. Earl Scruggs is in that category too, as is Jimmy Martin.”
SONG YOU WISH YOU HAD COVERED
“Any songwriter would say they wish they had written ‘The House That Built Me.’”
ACTOR TO PORTRAY YOU IN A BIOPIC
“Christian Bale – although I’d really get a kick out of hanging with Jack Nicholson.”
MOMENT YOU’D LIKE TO RELIVE
“I could relive playing at the Opry when I was 12 a million times.”

About Bubba Sparxxx
A native of LaGrange, Georgia, Bubba Sparxxx first hit the country rap scene with his smash hit “Ugly” in 2001 from his platinum certified, debut album Dark Days, Bright Nights produced by Shannon “Fat Shan” Houchins of the successful record label, Average Joes Entertainment, and superstar producers Timbaland and Organized Noize.  It was followed-up by the critically acclaimed 2003 release Deliverance.  Today, Bubba Sparxxx continues to collaborate with Houchins on their foundation of blending musical genres.  His third project, Pain Management, is set to be released in fall 2013. Quick to remind every artist trying to break the mold of traditional and mainstream music to keep steady in creating their own path in music, Bubba encourages his fans to remember that his brand of music isn't particularly mainstream country music, and it isn't rap music, but it has a home somewhere in-between the two.  www.bubbasparxxx.com

Nashville, TN (August 20, 2013) – Last night (8/19), Jake Owen threw an epic Summer Block Party to celebrate his fourth consecutive #1 “Anywhere With You” in Nashville, TN. Inviting fans to the free show via Twitter and Facebook, a massive crowd of 20,000 plus gathered to see the chart-topping vocalist perform and attend the largest #1 party ever held at BMI. Reaching maximum capacity, fans lined the streets of Music Row and tailgated in nearby parking lots throughout the evening.

The festivities kicked off with new trio The Cadillac Three warming up the crowd followed by an onstage #1 celebration for Jake’s “Anywhere With You,” co-written by Ben Hayslip, Jimmy Yeary and David Lee Murphy. Playing for over two hours, Jake delivered an electrifying performance and quickly became a trending topic on Twitter. As revealed earlier in the day, special guests Florida Georgia Line, Dierks Bentley, Thomas Rhett, and Dee Jay Silver joined Jake onstage to show their support for him. Nashville’s hip food trucks lined up for the event and the beer was flowing.

Since releasing his chart-topping album, BAREFOOT BLUE JEAN NIGHT, Jake has emerged as one of country music’s leading vocalists. The RCA Nashville project delivered four consecutive #1 hit singles, including the multi-week chart-toppers; the Double Platinum title track and Platinum “Alone with You,” and Gold-certified hits “The One That Got Away” and “Anywhere with You.” Poised to follow the success, Jake’s brand new single “Days of Gold” is now at Country radio nationwide and will be featured on his album of the same title to be released on 12/3.
