NASHVILLE PALACE CLOSES IT DOORS

NASHVILLE PALACE CLOSES IT DOORS

(Nashville, TN-7-22-13)  The Nashville Palace has closed it doors for the last time under the current ownership.  They locked the door at the end of the night of July 17, 2013.  Let’s hope that if and when the Palace ever opens again, that there will be real country music on the stage to bring fans through the doors as they once did at the Old Nashville Palace.  I was going to send this PR out last Thursday but I opted to wait and see.

Everyone in Nashville knew it was only a matter of time before the Palace could no longer feed the kitty of expenses.  One of the main problems of the venue was a sound system manufactured by Fred from the Flintsones.  People in the balcony could never hear the singer, only the band, so I guess it all comes down to management not wanting to spend the money to make necessary changes to update the venue to be successful or they did not care to make the venue better.

A blessing in disguise to see the doors locked tight, but there is speculation that there could be a group who might be interested in the Nashville Palace, but that is not set in stone.  Anything would be better than to see the Palace parking lot empty each and every night of every week.  I believe our R.O.P.E. Breakfast with the Stars featuring Mel Tillis and The Statesiders was one of the largest crowds to attend an event at the Palace since the venue was opened.

I will never understand how a nightclub right across the street from the Opryland Hotel should have to close its door.  I can only guess that people come to our city to hear real country music, not country rock n roll.  There are some that say it was the way the building was constructed inside.  A professional sound system is money in the bank for any venue that wants to enjoy success.

ALAN JACKSON GOES BLUEGRASS

ALAN JACKSON TO RELEASE
THE BLUEGRASS ALBUM

Long Anticipated Project Arrives September 24

NASHVILLE, Tenn.   Country music superstar Alan Jackson will release his first bluegrass album – appropriately titled The Bluegrass Album – on September 24. Jackson wrote eight songs for the album, which also includes other originals and a couple of well-known standards of the genre. The Bluegrass Albumwill be released on ACR (Alan’s Country Records)/EMI Records Nashville and is produced by Keith Stegall and Jackson’s nephew, Adam Wright.

Jackson has openly expressed his desire to record a bluegrass album for years. This spring, a group of some of the best players and singers in bluegrass came together, emerging in a matter of days with the completed acoustic album. He enlisted Scott Coney (acoustic guitar), Sammy Shelor (banjo), Adam Steffey (mandolin), Tim Crouch (fiddle), Tim Dishman (bass), Rob Ickes (dobro) and Ronnie Bowman and Don Rigsby (vocals).

Originals that Jackson penned for the album include such titles as “Blacktop,” “Blue Ridge Mountain Song” and “Mary.” Covers on The Bluegrass Album include The Dillards’ “There Is A Time,” John Anderson’s “Wild and Blue” and a ¾-time version of Bill Monroe’s seminal “Blue Moon of Kentucky.”

ANGEL MARY PRISON

ANGEL MARY AND THE TENNESSEE WEREWOLVES TEAM UP WITH JOHN CARTER CASH, RELEASE FOLSOM PRISON BLUES

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 22nd, 2013) - Country recording trio Angel Mary and the Tennessee Werewolves has officially announced Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues as their next single, set to release to radio on July 30th - the same day Cash recorded the song in 1955. Produced by the legend's son John Carter Cash and recorded at The Cash Cabin Studio in Nashville (where some of Cash's later recordings were created and parts of feature film Walk the Line was filmed), the recording also features Carter Cash on acoustic guitar, Rob Caggiano of rock group Volbeat on electric guitar, and the trio's own Angel Mary on lead vocals - making this the first cover release of Folsom Prison Blues to feature a female lead.

Long-time fans of Cash, the trio's name was chosen as a nod to the late Man in Black.

"
Johnny started with Johnny and The Tennessee Two and, later, Johnny and The Tennessee Three. That's where 'Angel Mary and The Tennessee' comes from," explains Antoine Wolf, member of the trio. "'Werewolves' was inspired by Johnny's song "The Beast In Me" from his American Recordings"

"When we were younger and between houses in Hendersonville, Johnny's sister Joann Cash opened her home to us. So Johnny has been a part of our lives from the start," adds Angel Mary. "We're taking a huge step into the unknown by releasing a Johnny Cash hit... Folsom Prison Blues is a song we hold close to our hearts. We've all had our struggles, ups and downs, and times we feel we can't be free. But there's always that light of forgiveness at the end of the track."

The single will be available in a country mix and rock mix, and each will have an alternate explicit lyric version as a "...tribute to the outlaw side of Johnny." The trio will also begin work on a music video for the single the first week of August.
