Don’t Cross Me Wrong

“Don’t Cross Me Wrong” single by John Oates & Vince Gill set for release July 16

July 11, 2013, Nashville, TN John Oates is taking fans on a cross-genre journey with his latest project, Good Road To Follow. The second single "Don’t Cross Me Wrong," a forewarning blues-rock track written and produced with country icon Vince Gill, will be released on July 16.

“Having the chance to write, record and co-produce with Vince Gill was, without a doubt, a highlight in my musical life, adds Oates when asked about the single.  “I've been a fan of Vince for years and consider him to be one of the greatest vocalists and guitarists of our time.”

The song, which is the first collaboration between Oates and Gill, proved to be an effortless partnership. Written in Gill’s living room, Oates notes that the idea started with a title and developed easily, “We wrote the song in literally a half an hour.  In fact, it happened so quickly, I kind of looked at him and said, ‘did we just finish this?’”

“Don’t Cross Me Wrong” features a stellar cast of Nashville’s finest including Tom Bukovac (guitar), Willie Weeks (bass), Chad Cromwell (drums), Colin Linden (slide), Kevin McKendree (keyboards), June Hope (horns), a guitar solo from Gill, and vocals from Oates, Gill and Bekka Bramlett. “You just cast the right players, and you go in and everybody’s creative…if you trust those gifted people that play music, they won’t steer you wrong,” said Gill of the recording process.

The result is raw and gritty with notes of both artists clearly audible. “It was fun to watch him work and realize why he’s had the great career that he has,” said Gill of working with Oates. “I love things that take me a little bit out of my element and maybe that’s what made it fun for him too.”

Unrestricted by musical barriers, Oates has collaborated with some of the world’s brightest music makers, ranging from acclaimed songwriter/producer/rocker Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, to pop band Hot Chelle Rae, to Gill.

Oates will release a single-a-month from the PS Records / Elektra Records project. Fans can subscribe to the series receiving a new download and exclusive content every four weeks, purchase limited edition clothing and merchandise inspired by the songs, and individual tracks.

These remarkable collaborative experiences, combined with not having to think about the album as a cohesive collection, give Oates the freedom to explore his wide range of influences, and there’s no limit to the number of songs that could follow. "Who knows, this could be a recording project that never ends,” Oates muses. “I’m having more fun now than I’ve ever had in my career."

Tim Dugger to Join the NASCAR Circuit This Summer

Tim Dugger to Join the NASCAR Circuit This Summer

Playing shows in conjunction with races nation-wide

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 10, 2013) – The roar of the engines meets the roar of the crowd as Sidewalk Recording artist Tim Dugger performs throughout the NASCAR racing season all summer long.

Few things go hand in hand like NASCAR Racing and Country Music.  Tim Dugger has built strong friendships with many of NASCAR’s top stars including Danica Patrick, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer, Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne, Michael Waltrip, Austin & Ty Dillon and Ricky Stenhouse just to name a few.  The drivers routinely make appearances at his shows, and Tim is a frequent guest in the NASCAR Garage. The ability to not only see Dugger’s show but to get up close with the sport’s top stars makes the Tim Dugger racetrack concerts a must see for race fans.

Through his power-packed live show and down to earth songwriting, it is Tim Dugger’s real life approach that is connecting with NASCAR drivers and fans alike.  This season, more fans will get a chance to see that in person as Tim Dugger continues his 2013 tour with several newly announced shows at NASCAR races.

The tour kicked off with stops at Pocono Raceway along with the Daytona International Speedway, and the next stop includes the New Hampshire Speedway Fan Festival on July 11th.  This event will kick off the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide series race weekend at New Hampshire and will include driver appearances and fan contests.

Dugger performs at the Iowa Speedway on July 13th, an event scheduled at the conclusion of the NASCAR truck series race.

On July 25th, fans can catch Dugger performing at the NASCAR Brickyard 400 during the hauler parade.

On August 9th, Dugger will be rolling in to Watkins Glen Speedway to sing an infield concert in conjunction with the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series race and will also perform the national anthem at the race on August 11th.

Come mid-August, Tim will be performing as part of the inaugural Nationwide Series Race at Mid-Ohio on August 16th. The following day, August 17th, he will head up to Michigan to perform at the Michigan International Speedway.

Nearing the end of summer, Tim Dugger will be performing at the Bristol Motor Speedway on August 22-24.  He will be playing Thursday August 22nd as part of the Food City Race Festival, one of the largest events with an average attendance of 50,000.  Fans will enjoy a signing with Tim alongside top drivers. Tim will close out the epic weekend on August 23rd and August 24th, playing at the Bristol Motor Speedway Guest Welcome Village Stage.

For more information on Tim Dugger, please visit: http://www.timdugger.com

ABOUT TIM DUGGER:
A die-hard NASCAR fan, Tim developed a loyal fan base in the country music clubs surrounding the race circuit.  Dugger got to meet Mike Curb at Daytona and got to hand him a CD—that was the beginning of his career. From there he was signed to CURB Records, and now resides on the imprint label, Sidewalk Records. Tim’s musical influences reflect his love of traditional country music, like Merle Haggard, Gene Watson and Vern Gosdin. Tim’s own music reflects his passion for a great country lyric, and his debut album will offer the proven production genius of Jim Ed Norman, whose long list of credits include The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt and Kenny Rogers. Dugger takes pride in the fact that he is a singer-songwriter, and that he writes songs that are relatable and connect with his loyal fans.

Grand Master Fiddler Championship moves to the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum

Grand Master Fiddler Championship moves to the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum

The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum’s welcomes the Grand Master Fiddler Championship, Inc. to its Ford Theater Aug. 30-31 (Labor Day weekend). The championship draws competitors from around the world and includes past participants such as Grammy® winners Alison Krauss and fiddle master Mark O’Connor.
“The Grand Master Fiddler Contest win I had at age 13 counts as one of the most amazing experiences I ever had in competition,” O’Connor said.
This contest, the premier fiddle championship of its kind in North America, was originally held in conjunction with CMA Fan Fair from 1972 through 1997 sponsored by the legendary WSM AM 650 Radio and the Grand Ole Opry. With the help and advice of long-time supporter E.W. “Bud” Wendell, former CEO of Gaylord Entertainment and head of the Grand Ole Opry, the event was re-established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2005 by Howard Harris and Ed Carnes.
“The purpose of the Grand Master Fiddler Championship is not only to recognize the top fiddle player in North America or even the world; but to also educate about and perpetuate fiddling as an art form and cultural treasure,” said Howard Harris, chairman and CEO of the Grand Master Fiddler Championship and the son of the late Perry F. Harris, M.D., D.D.S., F.A.C.S., founder of the contest.  “Collaborating with the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum will enable us to maximize our shared mission to support this music, and given our educational goals, it just makes sense to all involved that this move will help preserve this style of music for future generations.”
With the new youth division added last year, and recognizing that the average age of the Top Ten is less than 20 years of age, the new date will allow more young people to attend and compete during the Labor Day school break, according to Harris.
“We are pleased to host the Grand Master Fiddler Championship as part of the educational offerings in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s Ford Theater,” said Jay Orr, vice president of museum programs. “Henry Ford loved fiddling and staged contests of his own in the early years of the last century, and fiddling was featured on many of the first recordings of country music. To showcase some of the best players in the world, in partnership with the Grand Master Fiddler competition, is in line with our goals of encouraging a love and knowledge of the music, especially among young people.”
Celebrity host for the event is film star and International Bluegrass Music Museum Legend Randall Franks, “Officer Randy Goode” from TV’s “In the Heat of the Night.” Franks is also known as the Appalachian Ambassador of the Fiddle and is a past participant at the event.
After eight years as part of the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) “Fan Fest,” the move to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum was partially in response to the IBMA changing their events from Nashville to Raleigh, NC, in 2013.
“Logistically, this move was creating quite a challenge for us in terms of scheduling, financial and operational,” said Ed Carnes, Grand Master Fiddler Championship vice chairman and EVP.  “Our staff is 100% volunteer, so keeping the event in Nashville is important.”
“The IBMA has been an excellent partner for the Championship and we would not have been successful without their support for the past eight years,” Harris added.
“We will miss working with them during “Fan Fest” and are excited for their future plans for the World of Bluegrass Convention and Fan Fest Sept. 24-28 in Raleigh, N.C.”
