Nashville, Tenn. (June 12, 2013) – Randy Travis has delivered a hit with the surprise debut of the George Jones tribute song, “Tonight I’m Playin’ Possum.”  The heartfelt single is now available on iTunes.  “Tonight I’m Playin’ Possum” was recently recorded by the country icon and singer Joe Nichols. This is the first song from Randy's new album that’s set to be released this fall.

“It was an honor when I received a request to record this tribute to George Jones, and after I heard how well Keith Gattis had written “Tonight I’m Playin’ Possum,” I was excited to record it.  Thanks to Joe Nichols for coming in and helping on this project,” says Randy Travis.

The Grammy winner provided fans with the first public hearing of “Tonight I’m Playin’ Possum” at the CMA Music Festival.  It happened during the Remembering George Jones panel session on Friday which included the legendary singer’s widow, Nancy Jones, longtime drummer Bobby Birkhead, John Rich, Jamey Johnson and host Joseph Hudak of Country Weekly.  The moving tribute generated a standing ovation among hundreds of fans. It was written by Keith Gattis.

“Tonight I’m Playin’ Possum” was part of Randy’s performance that night at LP Field.  He invited fans to take another listen at RandyTravis.com, where the single is now being streamed in its entirety.

About Joe Nichols
In his young career, Nichols has received four Grammy nominations, won every conceivable “best new artist” award and had the New York Times name his CD Real Things one of the best recordings of the year in all musical genres. The Rogers, Arkansas native literally burst onto the country music scene with two back to back #1 hit singles, “The Impossible” and Brokenheartsville,” and from that point began loading his trophy case with awards, honors and accolades. The hits kept coming as well with songs like "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off," "Gimmie That Girl," "If Nobody Believed In You," "What's A Guy Gotta Do," "Size Matters," and "I'll Wait For You" cracking the upper echelons of the country music charts. Nichols’ body of work maintains an impressive quality and standard. While paying tribute to those influences that came before him, like George Jones, the music has always had a fresh and modern feel.  “Sunny and 75,” his debut single for new imprint Red Bow Records, carries on that tradition.

News about Country Music artists

Jim Ed Brown’s new single moving up all charts.  This past week at the CMA Music Fest, Jim Ed joined a panel to talk about the country music industry, performed his new single on the Grand Ole Opry, appeared at the R.O.P.E. Breakfast with the Stars, and joined the great line-up to perform on Marty Stuart’s Late Night Jam on June 5th.  He did interviews with IMR (Inside Music Row) NBRN with Laura Dobbs, and a number of interviews with European Radio Stations.  He has had a busy, productive, and most enjoyable week.
Allen Karl is still moving to the top of music charts with his self-penned single “I Get So Lonesome.”  And both Allen and his duet partner Donna Cunningham are closing in on another #1 duet “Ain’t That A Lovin Shame.”  They both attended this past week’s CMA Music Fest and also the R.O.P.E. Breakfast with the Stars and sang on many different shows here in Nashville, including John A’s on Music Valley Dr.  Look for some video’s to come from Century II Records to promote their artists.  Allen Karl is pushing all the right buttons for his label, his music, and his artists music, as Century II is getting great recognition with its stable of talent.
Donna Cunningham, Century II Records, will release her new single to country radio in approximately 10 days.  DJ’s worldwide will be excited to play another great song by this super vocalist as she is getting a lot of attention here in the U.S., and in Europe, and of course her duets with Allen Karl are getting major airplay and there is talk of a major European Tour in the works.  Donna and Allen have built up a large fan base in Europe and are now gaining a great fan base here in the states.
Bobby G. Rice, another Century II Records artists has been selected by Rural Roots Music Commission for his single recording of “Down In Texas” as their Classic Honky-Tonk Single of the Year” for 2013.  Bobby G. has just completed his new recording session and says that the songs were the best that he has recorded in years.  The new single will be released in a couple of weeks, and we are looking at another great Bobby G. Rice chart busting song.  He also says that it has been a long time since he has had to make a choice for his new release, because he has recorded some great material and is excited to send it to country radio stations.  It could be another “You Lay So Easy On My Mind,” song for the career of Bobby G.  We will keep you posted on the new single due out in the next couple of weeks.
Chuck Hancock, is closing in on a new single in Europe, and one in the U.S.  The first part of July will see Chuck with a new self-written song going out to all the DJ’s overseas, and then a separate new single, also self-penned for release here in the states.  Both songs are destined for #1 because they are great.  Chuck is enjoying great chart action with his Inspirational song “His Love Paints a Picture.”  There is no doubt this will be a Chuck Hancock #1 quickly in the Inspirational Country Charts.  The nominations begin now for this year’s Inspirational Gospel Awards Show being held in Nashville, Oct. 20-24.  His talents are expanding more with his writing and recording new music.  This will be a banner year for Chuck Hancock at the ICM Awards Show.
Julie Richardson, MSR recording artist is enjoying more success than she thought she would, with her remake of the Johnny PayCheck masterpiece “Ole Violin.”  Julie is the only female artists in any music to re-record the song and she was wondering how radio would accept it.  She found out quickly that they welcomed her great performance on the song, and she is getting great airplay here and abroad.  The song is taking on a new life that is keeping it on the airplay lists of many of the DJ’s worldwide, and Julie is very thankful for their support.
Miss Jeanie, was in Nashville for CMA Music Fest, and while here she attended the R.O.P.E. Breakfast with the Stars and had the opportunity to meet many of the legends and her favorite artists.  This was her first trip to both CMA Fan Fare and to the Reunion of Professional Entertainers event, and she was extremely impressed with being able to be a part of this year’s festivities.  Her new release “Walk A Little Faster,” is moving faster than her previous releases, and while in Nashville Jeanie completed two video’s of her last single and current release.  She has completed the first two video’s of her career and as soon as they are edited, she will be releasing “Walk A Little Faster” for YouTube, CMT, GAC, and RFD TV for their review.

Naomi Judd versus CMT, CMA and ACM

NAOMI JUDD SPEAKS OUT
CMT’S DISREGARD FOR COUNTRY MUSIC FANS

The following “Letter to the Editor” from Naomi Judd could not have come at a better time.  It brought attention to the fact that CMT who has annually stunk up the television with their so-called awards shows and their Rock n Roll grouping of names that do not even belong on this show, but I guess when you are in dire need of better ratings, you will do anything.  Thank you Naomi for speaking out and for standing up for what country music stands for.
Now where are the other artists who have been a part of the country music industry for the good years, when paying tribute to artists who had passed on was a part of the country music.  George Jones got a short remembrance, and Jack Greene was totally ignored.  And to have the Mavericks sing any version of “The Race Is On,” was not right.
CMT has been shaming country music for years with their awards show for loud music, funky artists that don’t have a clue how to spell country music let alone sing it.  Their show is so bad that it leaves a bad taste in the mouth of country music, but it jacks up the ego’s of many of the new artists, not all of them, but a bunch of them.  The attendance at these shows is large because the fans come to Nashville to see their favorite country music stars, but no one flies the banner of the legends, the veterans, or those who have passed on.  CMT’s producers and talent directors will have to come up with a much better production plan before they can compete with CMA or ACM.
If Naomi Judd is worried about what the effect of her letter will have for her future appearances on CMT, she need not worry.  Being banned from CMT is not her loss… The change in country music has been drastic over the past 5-10 years and the price we are paying is evident in what we see on these awards shows.

The following is Naomi Judd’s comments:
***********************************************************************************
CMT Awards did a disservice to country fans, Jones’ legacy
George Jones is to country music what The Beatles are to pop, the Rolling Stones to rock, Elvis to rockabilly, Mozart to classical and Aretha to soul.
Yet, the “Country” Music Television awards show allowed only a “by the way” mention of Jones’ death and legacy. Incongruously, they chose alternative music group the Mavericks to perform their short version of George’s “The Race Is On.”
True country music fans are a loyal bunch and are passionate about our roots and heritage.
Every year, CMT includes artists of unrelated genres, many of whom some country music fans don’t even know. I suggest the CMT Awards show change its name. Perhaps to “the Multi-Genre Awards Show, Featuring Artists under 30.”
I realize speaking out will cause me to now be forever banned by CMT. But I’m tired of folks messing with my country music. Especially when it involves my dear friend George Jones.

When I See This Bar

Kenny Chesney’s “When I See This Bar” Most Added

Personal Song @ The Places That Mark Who We Are Strikes Chord
“When I See This Bar,” Kenny Chesney’s second single off the deeply personal Life On A Rock, may be about a very specific place and time in his life, but it turns out everybody has that place and those moments of becoming the people they grew into. With a chiming acoustic guitar and serious melodic build, the song – co-written with singer/songwriter Keith Gattis – has landed hard at country radio.
With 85 stations on at Country Aircheck’s reporters for the week’s #1 Most Added designation and Top 40 debut (#39) at Billboard, “When I See This Bar” resonates in very personal ways for just about anybody who ever grew up. That fact wasn’t lost on the man who’s played to over a million people on each of his past 10 tours.
“I think it’s happened to everybody,” Chesney says of the inspiration for the song. “You walk into a place where you really came of age, and you look around and realize that nobody there knows anything but all that happened there with you and your friends. But for you, it’s all still so real: right in that moment, right in that place. All the memories rush back – all the fun, all the crazy stuff you did, all the lessons and heartbreaks.
“Having played it for people since the record came out, I started to realize: what’s so incredibly personal for me… is just as personal to every one I’ve played it for. Only they all have a very specific bar where it happened to them! Hung out with friends, fell in love, fell apart – and that’s why I figured this did make sense as a single.”
With “Kenny Chesney Presents No Shoes Nation” premiering 9 pm June 19th on Great American Country (GAC), this year’s been revelatory for the high-energy performer with the highly introspective songwriting streak. Life On A Rock, his 7th Billboard all-genre Top 200 Albums #1 debut has been earning critical acclaim in publications ranging from USA Today to Entertainment Weekly, Chicago Tribune to Washington Post, as well as the current cover of PEOPLE Country and a Friday Arts cover in The Wall Street Journal.
In addition, Chesney has just shot a video for the song that captures the feel, the emotion and the moments that help give this song its resonance. Offstage, stolen moments, rehearsals, it’s the world of Kenny Chesney that most people never get to witness.
“I think you get to a place in your career where you want to invest yourself a little deeper, and maybe in a slightly more personal way,” Chesney says of the inspiration for Life On A Rock and his new single. “You don’t know how people are going to respond… especially when you’ve built your career out of being the place people go to escape all that stuff. But the response has been amazing… We’ve done the song onstage a few times, and the fans scream like it’s their favorite song from ten years ago.
“Now with radio embracing it like this, it makes me feel like this is a good thing. After all, ‘When I See This Bar’ is one of those places where we’ve all been. Heck, it makes us what and who we are.”

Autumn Rose Album Release Party

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 11, 2013) – Autumn Rose is set to launch their debut album with a much anticipated FREE album release party at the legendary 3rd and Lindsley. Located in the heart of Nashville, 3rd and Lindsley has played host to the likes of: Zac Brown Band, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, and Train, just to name a few.  Doors for the event open at 6pm, and the show starts at 7pm.
Produced by one of country music’s most respected producers – Garth Fundis (Trisha Yearwood, Don Williams, Alabama, Keith Whitley, Sugarland). The album features “tight harmonies and stories that will make you cry, smile, and get up and dance!” said Alicia Beale and Rachael Schleicher. The debut album includes a diverse range of songs written by Brett James, Hillary Lindsay, Jessi Alexander, Gordie Sampson, Lori McKenna, and Ashley Monroe.
Firmly planted in the sounds of traditional country music, Beale and Schleicher began cultivating their powerful sound long before sharing the stage as Autumn Rose.  Beale adds, “We’ve experienced dramatic transitions early in our lives; those events have only deepened the creative well from which we draw our inspiration for our performances.” The promising new duo has faith that a winning attitude and message of strength and resilience will inspire others the same way they’ve been inspired by the music and the people who have come before them. These ladies are young, but they know what it means to be a true believer.

Nashville, TN (June 11, 2013) -- Lisa Matassa connected with her fans throughout the 2013 CMA Music Festival  via live performances, social media and Exhibit Hall appearances.
Matassa made her Ryman Auditorium debut last week as she entertained fans with the Cash classic, "Home Of The Blues," during the Cash Family's celebration of the U.S. Postal Service's limited-edition Johnny Cash Forever stamp.  John Carter Cash was pleased with Matassa's performance, noting, "Lisa's performance to honor my father, Johnny Cash, was amazing!  This was the first time I met her, and from a quick rehearsal to hitting the stage of the Ryman she had us all listening intently from the first note."  Lisa shared the stage with Cash, Carlene Carter, Jamey Johnson, her "tweet buddies" The Oak Ridge Boys, Randy Travis, and others for a once-in-a-lifetime performance.  "It was an emotional moment walking onto the Ryman stage for the first time and definitely a day I will never forget," Matassa states.
It was a memorable day for industry insider and Country Radio Hall of Famer Ed Salamon as well.  He observed, "A lot of folks in the audience may not have known Lisa Matassa when she took the stage this morning, but everybody was talking about her after she sang. What a great performance! Glad I was there to see it."

Matassa wowed the crowd with her set at The Hard Rock Nashville Outdoor Entertainment Stages for Sirius XM's The Highway Special Event for "On the Horizon" artists.
There were many notable moments for the Queen of Long Island Country as she navigated her way through her first CMA Music Festival.  Lisa drew a huge crowd - literally - to the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau Stage during her show-stopping performance of Dolly Parton's classic, "I Will Always Love You."  The feat was repeated the following day when fans gathered in droves at the CHEVROLET Roadhouse Acoustic Stage where many sang the iconic tune right along with the vocal dynamo.

Her performance at the 650 AM WSM/DURANGO Stage in front of yet another huge crowd and broadcast live on the national radio show and on the station's website also landed Lisa a host of new fans.
The songstress returned to The Ryman for #CMchat TWANGOUT Live from the Ryman with Country Now.  The interview and interactive fan dialog featured social media expert Jessica Northey and was covered live on Google+ and Country Now, YouTube's Country music and lifestyle channel.

Throughout the week Lisa engaged in television, radio and print interviews for outlets both here and abroad.  "My first CMA Fest was a fantastic experience," she notes.  "And great to meet so many amazing people from all over the world."
Lisa already knows quite a few amazing people.  Her social media numbers are impressive with over 605,000 Twitter followers and nearly 200,000 Facebook fans.  Her "Somebody's Baby" video has logged over FOUR MILLION YouTube views, and the single has gone Top 40 on both the Billboard Indicator and Music Row charts.  It is the first single from Lisa's enhanced EP of the same name.

Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker Announce New Album

UK’s Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker
Announce New Album
Award-winning British Folk Duo Set Fire and Fortune
for July 30th North American Release

(Nashville, TN) June 11, 2013 – Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker have found their own path through traditional English music with a refreshing originality and validity. Already a strong presence in the ever-growing UK folk movement, the duo will release Fire and Fortune on July 30th with the Compass Records Group in North America via the Navigator Records imprint—home of Bellowhead, Bella Hardy, Heidi Talbot and many others.

Fire and Fortune contains twelve tracks—some carefully selected traditional songs re-imagined while others are equally carefully picked original compositions.
Both classically trained, Josienne and Ben’s musical proficiency is beyond doubt. Whether interpreting words centuries old, or singing her own authentic lyrics, Josienne's jewel-like voice finds the nuance and melancholy in the simplest phrase and effortlessly sends it straight to your heart. Ben's musical tact and mastery of the guitar provide the perfect setting and allow the song center-stage.

While they draw their influences from such greats as Sandy Denny, Richard and Linda Thompson, Nick Drake, Bert Jansch and June Tabor, soon after the duo met as students in London and began performing together, critical acclaim of their own soon followed. In 2012, the duo won the Isambard Folk Award with Josienne winning the FATEA Award for Female Vocalist of the Year. They've played as a duo alongside many of the living legends including Martin Simpson and Steve Tilston, and have just completed tour dates in Germany, the Netherlands and UK where they continue to expand their audiences worldwide.
