“If I Were A Carpenter” by Shannon and Heather Slaughter & County Clare
Superb Vocals Shine on Second Radio Single Release from the Album, ONE MORE ROAD
Nashville, TN (June 3, 2013) Shannon and Heather Slaughter & County Clare are proud to announce “If I Were A Carpenter” as the second radio single release from their album, ONE MORE ROAD. They perform an outstanding bluegrass version of this Top 40 hit song written by Tim Hardin who sang it solo at Woodstock in 1969. This American Folk classic has been covered by the likes of Bob Seger, Bobby Darrin, Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash, The Four Tops, Robert Plant and Rod Stewart.
“Bluegrass fans that aren’t familiar with Heather’s soulful vocals are in for a real treat. She and Shannon are both top-flight vocalists, and they make a truly delightful duet in every way. I, for one, am excited about seeing where their music takes them over the next few years. I predict big things,” said Tim Stafford, Blue Highway.
ONE MORE ROAD was released in March on Elite Circuit Music and includes the first single, "The Lives of the Innocent" that appeared numerous times on Bluegrass Today’s Top 20 chart. This Civil War anthem, written by Shannon, features his vocal strength, range and dynamic guitar playing highlighted by Heather’s soulful tenor singing.
Band members John Boulware (fiddle, vocals), Blake Bowen (bass, vocals), Casey Murray (banjo, guitar, vocals), Heather Slaughter (mandolin, vocals), and Shannon Slaughter (guitar, vocals) are now on tour including upcoming performances in Charlotte, MI; Greenwood, SC; Lexington, KY; Worthington, OH; Marshall, IN; and more.

Michael Martin Murphey And Pam Tillis/Lorrie Morgan Duet CD First Releases
(NASHVILLE, Tennessee) -- Red River Entertainment launched its Nashville division this week, it was announced by music industry veteran Chuck Rhodes, who will head up Nashville operations for the new label. The first releases scheduled for the Nashville division are Michael WSM "Live From The Archives," Martin Murphey’s Red River Drifter, and Dos Divas from Grits & Glamour, a cd featuring Country Music legends Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan. The new label will be distributed by RED - A Division of Sony Music Entertainment.
"It's fantastic to be reunited with co-founder Bob Frank and to be working with the Red River Entertainment team in New York and Sony RED," said Rhodes, who worked with Frank at Koch Entertainment. "I am overwhelmed by the legendary artists and projects that have chosen to grace our roster here in Nashville and look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with them."
For the first time in its illustrious 87-year history, 650 AM WSM is releasing a compilation volume of live, in-station performances by world-renowned artists and writers. This first 16-track release, titled Live From the Archives of 650 AM WSM - Volume One, will be available on cd, digitally, and as a limited vinyl release. This first volume features a heartfelt introduction from Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill and rolls into live, one of a kind performances from some of the biggest songwriters and artists of our time. Release date is June 25, 2013.
Murphey's Red River Drifter was recently announced for a July 9, 2013 release. The album marks a return of sorts for the genre-busting artist. Drawing from a deep well of influences that includes classical to country, blues to bluegrass and folk to jazz, Red River Drifter follows Murphey's most recent acclaimed "Buckaroo" series (including his Grammy nomination Buckaroo Blue Grass). Over the past 40 years, Murphey has left an indelible mark on the American Music Landscape with huge hits "Wildfire," "Carolina In The Pines," "What's Forever For," "Long Line of Love" and "Geronimo's Cadillac" among others.
The unique collaboration between Tillis and Morgan, who bill themselves as Grits & Glamour, showcases two of the most talented women in Country Music. Their Dos Divas cd includes a combination of 14 solos and duets, ranging from the fun debut single "I Know What You Did" to the powerful "I Am Woman." "I Know What You Did," the most uptempo fun you can have with two country legends in under three minutes, shipped to Country radio last week and is already Play MPE's #1 download and #1 stream. The album will hit stores July 23, 2013.
"We at Sony/RED Nashville are very proud to welcome Red River/764 Records into our family," said Dewayne Brown, RED's Southeast Regional Dir. of Artist & Label Development. "The Country Music community continues to excel based on great music, amazing talent, and hard work. With this in mind, Bob Frank and Chuck Rhodes have always set their bar higher and each time exceeding those lofty goals. We are so blessed and excited that they have chosen us as their partner in continued growth and success."
Negotiations are under way for several exciting projects, which will be announced in the coming weeks.

IT’S ALMOST TIME……
by S. Parks
You’ll soon be able to visit the “Wagon Wheel” (Darius) on Broadway with the “Boys ‘Round Here” (Blake) and “Get Your Shine On” (FL/GA Line) and “Beat This Summer” (Brad) when you “Crash My Party” (Luke) until you’re “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight” (Randy) because “Love is Everything” (King George). That’s country hit song code for “The CMA Fest is almost here”.
The dozens of “60 for 60” signs that lined Music Row every few feet brought a warmth and appreciation for not only George Strait but for what we do - country music. The display seemed to open the door for the busy week to come when Music City welcomes thousands of fans from around the world.
As George was celebrating being the first music artist in history to achieve sixty number one singles at the age of sixty, the entire city was celebrating along with him. At the Grammy Block Party at Owen Bradley Park on Music Row, Storme Warren welcomed Will Hoge, Kristen Kelly, Rhett Walker Band, Kip Moore and other artists, several of which were thankful for being in the show after watching from the audience last year. Downtown, the CMT All-New Hot 20 Countdown TV Show was in production followed by a video taping event of performances by Darius Rucker, Kasey Musgraves and Jason Aldean close by at Centerstage. Then, of course, the hit TV series, “Nashville” is always filming all over town.
Love and Theft joined David Nail at The Tin Roof, concerts were being held at Centenniel Park, the Johnny Cash Museum finally opened, the streets of lower Broadway magically turned into Margaritaville in honor of Jimmy Buffet’s visit and the Music City Guitar Show at the Fairgrounds brought treasure-hunting pickers and players from all over..
Covering sixteen acres in the middle of downtown, the grand opening of The Music City Center, under construction for three years, was next on the list of celebrations. Housing the Nashville Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and massive space for events of all types, the final touches were being added to welcome the CMA Fest attendees to the upcoming “Fanfair meet and greet” section of the CMA Fest.
Of course, every venue in town is hosting a country artist in anticipation of the CMA Festival to come. Tents are going up, streets are being closed, parties are being planned, artists are in rehearsal, food vendors are stocking up, shops are putting out souvenirs and Nashville will be ready to become “Fanville” for the next week. If you’re going, email me, the CMNI Nashville correspondent, and we may use your comments in Country Music News International! After all, it’s all about the fans, and that’s you! email S. ON THE ROAD WITH THE EVERHARTS
Anita, Iowa....."We are kind of on the road," Bob Everhart says about the entertainment duo, Bob & Sheila, "but it's mostly to a larger town to get supplies, or whatever. We have some gigs coming up that will take us out of state, but we've been staying pretty close to home. On the other hand, June Webb was just with us at the Oak Tree and she, and her better half, drove all the way from Sarasota, Florida, for the show. She was just super. We had a nearly full house, which is also unusual since none of our audience had ever heard her before, but once June got started on her show, it was loud applause and sing-along all over the place. It was not only tremendously entertaining, it was funny too, and June Webb is quite a show-person. She had her very old Gibson guitar with her, and I joked that it would make a nice addition to our Pioneer Music Museum, but she locked on to it pretty tight and very strongly told me that would not be the case. Anyway, we sure enjoyed the show, and so did the audience. She promises to come back again, so I hope those that were thinking of seeing her, will come next time."
"We've been so busy," Sheila, Bob's wife added, "we hardly have time to get anything done. Our next show at the Oak Tree is this coming Thursday night, June 6th. We're so fortunate to get these incredibly gifted musicians and entertainers to perform in our little show house in such a small town. Even the young entertainers enjoy coming here. Sarah Davison used to live in Braddyville, Iowa, and then moved to Nashville to go to school, study music, and become a recording artist. She's done all of that, and she's coming from Nashville to do a show for us with her band "High Road." This three-part female harmony is really really good, so even though it's a Thursday, we hope we'll have a nice turn out for Sarah. That's not our normal night, but she needed an extra gig to make the trip up to visit her folks in Braddyville, and we're glad to help out."
"I didn't think he'd do it," Bobbie Lhea, the Everhart's daughter piped up, "but dad finally broke down and got us a budget lunch at the Burger King. They have their new menu featuring pulled BBQ pork and French fried sweet potatoes, so that's what we all had. It was well within our budget, and even dad said he thought it was pretty good, though he doesn't really like too much fast-food. Anyway I liked it a lot, and hope we get to do that again before they change the menu. Lots of restaurants are 'testing' new menus, and many of them are doing that here in Iowa, so maybe we'll have some more budget lunch food-exploration to do."
