Kenny Chesney date Katie Couric

Kenny Chesney Joins “Katie Couric” May 13 Almost Entire Show Devoted to Life On A Rock, Spread the Love Fund

There are few people in the world as driven as Kenny Chesney, who released Life On A Rock and launched Blue Chair Bay Rum last week, while knee deep in his No Shoes Nation 2013 Tour that includes 19 NFL Stadiums. But in the takes-one-to-know-one department journalist/talk show host/activist/mother of two, Katie Couric sought her own level of accomplishment when she spent almost the entire show catching up with her friend and fellow make-it-happener, due to air May 13th.
“Katie is so smart, and so good,” Chesney says of the woman whose talk show received multiple Emmy nominations in its first season. “When you talk to her, you can tell she doesn’t just understand, she gets it… and that makes you want to really talk to her. That kind of interviewing is rare, and I’m so glad we were able to make it happen.”
The show, which also features two segments of First Responders in the Boston Marathon Bombing and a mother/daughter who were both injured, focuses on Chesney’s Spread The Love Fund, earmarked to help the injured get prosthetics and related care, the inspiration behind his deeply reflective Life On A Rock, taste-testing Blue Chair Bay Rum and discussing work ethic, achievement and the things that make life matter.
“Meeting the firemen and policemen, EMTs and the doctor who was running the Marathon and broke through the police barricade to treat the injured,” the songwriter says, “was really a profound perspective giver. You look at those people, who didn’t think about their own safety, but helping others – and you realize what a hero really is!”
He also performed a stripped down version of Rock’s “Spread The Love” with guitarists Kenny Greenberg and Clayton Mitchell, the song the Wailers had recorded in Jamaica they asked Chesney to write lyrics for. Chesney’s portion of the money from all downloads of “Spread The Love” will go to the Spread the Love Fund.
“Katie is so generous to let us come on her show,” Chesney continues. “Not just to talk about life and music, but to talk about the Spread the Love Fund. She knows she can make a difference, and that’s just the kind of person she is.”
Meanwhile, Chesney’s No Shoes Nation Tour hits Dallas May 11 at Cowboys Stadium. With a full slate of dates, through August 23-24’s closing stand at Foxboro, MA’s Gillette Stadium, the man with 24 #1s is again bringing the summer alive across the nation.
The Boston Globe raved about his latest, “Chesney returns to that reflective, often acoustic place for Life On A Rock, and again hits a high-water mark,” while The Chicago Tribune opined, “the country superstar turns down the volume to offer a quieter and more contemplative meditation on sand and sea” and Billboard proclaimed, “Kenny Chesney’s Life On A Rock is surely the most personal work he’s ever done, and time will likely prove it to be among his best-loved by fans.”

Grammy Award-Winning Artist Records “Sunday Night Football” Opening Theme “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night”
NBC selected six-time Grammy Award-winner and multi-platinum recording artist, Carrie Underwood, to perform “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” the opening theme for primetime television’s No. 1 program, Sunday Night Football on NBC. Country music superstar Underwood, the season-four winner of American Idol, makes her Sunday Night Football debut on Sunday, September 8 on NBC’s first SNF broadcast of the 2013 NFL season, a heated NFC East rivalry game when Dallas Cowboys host the New York Giants. The opening theme will continue each week kicking off Sunday Night Football every Sunday night throughout the NFL season on NBC.
"I am thrilled to be a part of NBC's Sunday Night Football and am so honored they asked me,” said Underwood. “I have always loved football season, and it is so exciting to now become part of it every Sunday night!"
Since winning American Idol and releasing her debut album in 2005, Underwood has sold over 15 million albums, and placed 17 No. 1 singles on the charts. Her recent album, Blown Away, made history by debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart, making Underwood only the second country artist in the 47-year history of the chart to have each of their first four albums debut at No. 1.
“Carrie Underwood was our first and only choice to perform the Sunday Night Football opening,” said SNF producer Fred Gaudelli. “She's one of America's most popular entertainers and the perfect fit for our show.”
The now platinum-selling Blown Away album also debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, making Underwood only the second country artist in history to have three consecutive albums debut at No. 1. She is a six-time Grammy winner, a two-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, a three-time Country Music Association and ACM Female Vocalist winner, and a proud member of the Grand Ole Opry.
“Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” is set to the original Joan Jett song, “I Hate Myself for Loving You” and marks Underwood’s first production with NBC Sports. From 2007-2012, the song was performed by music superstar Faith Hill and in 2006, the inaugural season of Sunday Night Football, Pink performed the open.
Underwood is currently headlining and selling out arenas across North America on her “Blown Away Tour.” The tour, which launched last June, has played in the United States, Canada, the U.K., Ireland, and Australia, and will perform a total of 112 dates by the time is wraps on May 23 in Abbotsford, BC, Canada.
Sunday Night Football, which averaged 21.8 million viewers in the 2012 season, is primetime television’s No. 1 program.

Kenny Chesney Life On A Rock

Life On A Rock Is Kenny Chesney’s 7th Top 200 Album Debut

Deeply Personal Look at Life, Loss, Love + Friendship Strikes a Chord
For a man who never intended to make a record, or ever thought this collection of musical sketches would be heard by anybody but his closest friends, Kenny Chesney’s Life On A Rock has hit a nerve with music fans. Though more unplugged and contemplative than what people expect from the 4-time Country Music Association and 4-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, Rock debuted at #1 on Billboard’s all-genre Top 200 Albums chart (with sales of 152,800). This marks Kenny’s 7th Top 200 album debut and his 12th consecutive Billboard Top Country Albums chart debut.
“It’s a little surreal,” says the man who’s sold in excess of 30 million albums. “I did this almost as an act of faith, a belief in songwriting and capturing real life. Many of these songs I carried around in a notebook in my backpack – and wrote the music later. Some of them are 6, 7 years old. And when they started to come together as a song cycle, I didn’t know if I was crazy, or if this was the right thing to do.
“The idea that it debuted at #1? Well, that tells me people, music fans care about songwriting and what you share… about looking back and moving on, something more than just partying and having a good time. So, in some ways, this (Top 200 debut) means as much to me or more.”
Certainly, a reflective body of work that boasts only one booming anthem – the Top 5 and climbing “Pirate Flag” – isn’t the obvious move. But for Chesney, in the midst of his No Shoes Nation tour that will hit 19 NFL Stadiums this summer, sometimes doing the right thing as an artist is the right thing.
“People maybe didn’t expect it… and it’s not what ‘the business’ says you should do. But after all the albums and all the hits, I’d like to think my fans are deeper than that. And the No Shoes Nation, which is what I call them, just proved me right!”
The Washington Post concurred, offering, “It’s a bold move, considering that a new crop of country rockers are selling millions of albums modeled on Chesney’s pounding arena rock sound. But, to his credit, Chesney follows his muse and offers up an album that exposes his weathered soul. The result is as appealing as it is surprising,” while The Chicago Tribune opined, “The singer-songwriter turns a loving eye on the spiritual vibe of a life lived off the grid and a group of friends who taught him the cathartic value of living life in the moment” and The Boston Globe said, “Chesney returns to that reflective, often acoustic, place for Life on a Rock… and again hits a high-water mark.”
Indeed, USA Today, which cited “Pirate Flag” as their Song of the Week before it was even released, wrote, “Chesney’s always been able to live in the moment; now, he sounds like he’s appreciating them more than ever.”
Featuring Willie Nelson on the calypso-driven “Coconut Tree” and the Wailers on “Spread The Love,” the proceeds going to the Spread The Love: A Fund for Boston to benefit people needing prosthetics from the Boston Marathon bombings, Life On A Rock takes fans deeper into Chesney’s world – and they’ve responded whole-heartedly.

"The Route That I Took" Single and Music Video Released Today

Portion of Song's Proceeds to Go to Charity
Nashville, Tenn. (May 7, 2013) - Today, in honor of the late George Jones, country music star Sammy Kershaw released his latest single and music video, "The Route That I Took" (Big Hit Records / RED).

"George was a major part of my life for many years," notes Kershaw.  "He was my friend and mentor and I wrote this song with him in mind a while back and hoped that he one day might record it.  I couldn't think of a more appropriate time to put it out.  God Bless you, Possum and see you again someday my friend."

Country music icon George Jones passed away on April 26, 2013 at the age of 81.

Kershaw's multi-platinum selling albums have had more than 30 radio singles including major hits like "She Don't Know She's Beautiful," "Cadillac Style," "Queen of My Double Wide Trailer" and "Third Rate Romance."  The GRAMMY-nominated country music star has sold more than 5 million albums to date.  Because of vocal similarities, critics often referred to Kershaw as the heir apparent to the late, great George Jones.

"The Route That I Took" is available for download now on iTunes and  A portion of the song's proceeds will go to a to-be-announced charity.  Watch the music video HERE.

The Band Perry SOLD-OUT in Odessa, TX, Ft. Worth, TX and Jackson, MS

The Band Perry Headline Shows Sell BIG!!
SOLD-OUT in Odessa, TX, Ft. Worth, TX and Jackson, MS
The Band Perry Also Receives CMT Nomination for “Group Video of the Year”
Nashville, TN – (May 7, 2013) -- Superstar family trio, The Band Perry took their headlining show out on the road this weekend, performing to sold-out crowds and record-attendance crowds in the state of Texas and Mississippi. The sibling band sold out Graham Central Station in Odessa, TX, despite high winds and unseasonably cold temperatures as well as Billy Bob’s in Ft. Worth, TX and drew an attendance-breaking crowd at Nutty Jerry’s in Winnie, TX. On Sunday, the band returned to their birth state of Mississippi for a sold-out show in Jackson at Thalia Mara Hall, benefiting the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s MIND (Memory Impairment Neurodegenerative Dementia Research) Center.
“Our home is on the road, and to welcome these crowds into our “family” for an hour and a half is truly what we look forward to every night,” says Kimberly Perry.
“We had so much fun in Texas this past weekend.  Seeing so many fans turn out even during bad weather was really amazing. It was also great to go back to Jackson, MS, which is one of our hometowns,” says Neil Perry.
The Band Perry also added another nomination to their long list of accolades this morning, with a nomination for a 2013 CMT Music Award in the category of Group Video of the Year for the video for their platinum-selling #1 hit, “Better Dig Two.”
“We’ve spent a lot of time this year really paying attention to our live show and we have also been very involved in the creative process with all aspects of our performance, including music videos.   It feels good to have the fans who watch CMT notice that and nominate us for an award for ‘Group Video of the Year,’” says Reid Perry.
Since releasing their self-titled debut album in 2010, The Band Perry has ascended to dizzying heights. Fronted by Kimberly Perry and rounded out by her younger brothers Neil and Reid, the band has notched a string of hit singles, including the quadruple-platinum “If I Die Young” (which climbed to #1 on Billboard’s Country and AC charts), the platinum “You Lie,” and the gold certified Country #1 “All Your Life” as well as their two-week #1 single “Better Dig Two,” from their wildly successful sophomore release, PIONEER, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart. The Band Perry’s latest song, “DONE.,” penned by Neil and Reid Perry with John Davidson and Jacob Bryant, promises to be their next chart topper. They’ve also enjoyed sold-out tours and a showering of honors, including multiple ACM, CMA, and CMT Music awards, as well as Grammy, Teen Choice, AMA, ACA, and Billboard Music award nominations — all of which has cemented the sibling trio as one of the hottest acts in recent history.

The LoCash Cowboys Stay Focused for the Long Haul

The LoCash Cowboys have been down on their luck more than a few times during their 10-year career. But the high-energy, fun-spirited duo is still betting that the odds are in its favor as it prepares to release its first album.
Preston Brust and Chris Lucas met when they were working as DJs at Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon. Soon, they landed additional work at Tootsies Orchid Lounge. But when they were offered the coveted Friday night gig at Tootsies, having signed with the booking agency Buddy Lee Attractions, they elected to hit the road.
“I saw a wild side in them that maybe had not happened in Nashville or Country Music for a while — or ever, to be honest,” said Tony Conway, then CEO at Buddy Lee. “I was impressed with their humor and the vision and the dreams they had. Lots of record company folks thought they sounded and looked like the Mötley Crüe of County Music, but in fact they were exploring and developing the style they would fine-tune and have down completely today.”
They landed a deal with DreamWorks and then lost it when the label was sold. But they had made a fan in label head James Stroud, who later offered them a shot on his own Stroudavarious label. Through all of this, Brust and Lucas kept burning up the road. In 2008, they were picked to headline the 12-city Red Man/Maxim Roadhouse Tour. This led them back to the Wildhorse.
“John Rich was host of our concert that night,” Brust said. “He brought Jeffrey Steele with him. We start singing a Jeffrey Steele song that we love, so that perked him up. He works his way to the front and waves me down in the middle of the song. I’m like, ‘Who is the crazy guy with the crazy hair?’ So I go down there and he screams, ‘Man, I get it! Call me and let’s get this thing together! All you need is the songs.’”
Calling Sony/ATV the next day to locate Steele, the guys were offered a publishing deal, thanks to Steele’s interest. That same day, they headed over to his house. “There was something bigger than the music going on with the three of us,” Brust said. “Not only did we find our producer and he found an artist to work with, but we found a brother and we began to lean on each other for the next four years.”
”That’s the cool thing about having a duo,” Lucas agreed. “When I would be down, Preston would be there to cheer me up. And I would do the same for him. The most important thing in this industry is to have a backbone and be ready to be stomped on. When I say I lost a house and a car, I really lost a house and a car. I lived on tuna fish and mustard for two years.”
“You can’t have a Plan B,” Brust added. “You just have to go for it and know it’s going to work, because if you have a backup plan, you’re going to go to it because this gets grueling sometimes. We’ve never had a backup plan. I was with my dad the other day, showing him the parking lot where I lived in my car for a while.”
“During that time I had my lovely wife and a little baby, but we lost our fiddle player (Ryan ‘Troop’ Jones) at 28, and before that I lost my dad, who was my best friend and my backbone,” Lucas said. “So I’m sitting there on my couch in our apartment that was too small. I remembered my dad saying, ‘Never give up! Stay positive!’ But it’s hard to stay positive in this business when I don’t know where I’m going to get the money to take care of my child. I’m in tears, looking up and saying, ‘You gotta give me something.’ And I promise you, five minutes later, I get this call from a DJ in California who says, ‘I’m sitting here with Keith Urban and he wants me to tell you he’s making your song his next single.’ And I jumped up and screamed as loud as I could, hugged my wife and said, ‘Thanks, Dad. I don’t know what you did, but you did good.’”
That cut — “You Gonna Fly,” written by Brust, Lucas and Jaren Johnston — lodged for two weeks at No. 1. Brust and Lucas followed with “Truck Yeah,” which they wrote with Chris Janson and Danny Myrick and went Gold for Tim McGraw. They’ve struck gold as artists too, having signed with Average Joes Entertainment, which released their newest single, “Chase a Little Love” (Jaron Boyer and Brust) this week.
“I’ve always told these guys, ‘You are going to be great songwriters,” said Steele. “’I know you want that ride, the fame and the big thing, but whatever happens to you on the other end of this thing, remember, it all starts with the song. It all ends with the song. And if it’s good, you’ll rise.’”
