WEST VIRGINIA TRIO BRINGS IN SPRING WITH PERFORMANCE
Little General Records Artist Taylor Made Entertains At Spring Fling
"The Charleston Municipal Auditorium has always been one of our favorite venues to perform at... To do so with another accomplished West Virginia recording artist for the sake of two incredible organizations was such an honor," said Greg Duckworth of Taylor Made.
Finishing work on their latest, yet-to-be-titled album with Little General Records, MusicRow's Independent Artist of the Year is also gearing up for a nationwide summer tour. Their current single, "That's What Life Is", is still climbing the charts, with positions at #27 on the Music Row chart and #40 on the Billboard Indicator chart.
About Taylor Made:
Born and raised in Taylor County, West Virginia, sibling trio Taylor Made has been performing together since childhood. With a background in church and back porch singing, the trio reformed as I-79 for the Colgate Country Showdown. It was only a matter of time before their sibling harmonies caught the attention of Little General Stores owner Greg Darby, who signed them to his West Virginia-based Little General Records under the new name Taylor Made (after their Taylor County upbringing). In 2011, they released single Good Love off of their EP of the same title, which topped off at #42 on the Billboard Indicator chart and #28 on the MusicRow chart. Their next single, Things You Don't Grow Out Of, took them into the top 40 on Billboard Indicator (#37) and the top 20 on Music Row (#19). For more information on Taylor Made, visit www.taylormadecountry.com.
About the Community Music Association:
Since its establishment in 1933, the Community Music Association has been responsible for making available nearly 400, world-class performances at affordable prices to the community of Charleston, West Virginia. The non-profit, all-volunteer organization was responsible for the construction of the Municipal Auditorium during the Great Depression, at which the majority of the association's events are still held. Operating on a year-to-year basis, the association continues to enrich Charleston's culture through musical performances and events. To learn more about the Community Music Association, visit www.
About Junior Achievement of West Virginia:
Junior Achievement of West Virginia offers students in the states of West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky a fundamental understanding of business and economics, engaging them in discovering and developing their talents and skills. Because all 350,000+ kids in the region will get involved in business at some point in their lives, the program enlists the aid of business professionals to help prepare kids for business experiences they may encounter in the future. George Hamilton IV: Onstage and Backstage at the Grand Ole Opry
While George Hamilton IV has had a home at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry for more than 50 years, he has also travelled the world several times over, earning the title of “International Ambassador of Country Music" from Billboard magazine. As of Spring 2013, the Opry member has committed to spending more time than ever at his musical home, welcoming guests on two new Opry House tours — an Opry House Backstage Pass Post-Show Tour and the Opry’s VIP Behind The Opry Curtain Tour. Throughout Opry show nights, Hamilton will share stories of backstage happenings as well as those of his global country career. Of course the Opry member will still take to the Opry stage from time to time for performances of classics including "Abilene", "Break My Mind" and "Truck Driving Man".
“We’re pleased to have George with us so often to offer guests his brand of Opry hospitality,” said Pete Fisher, Opry Vice President and General Manager. “Talking with George is to learn more about what happens backstage at the Opry, what it was like to tour with the country greats of the past including the legendary Patsy Cline, how it felt to be the first American country singer to have his own British television series, to tour behind the Iron Curtain, and more.”
Prior to his new role at the Opry, George Hamilton IV continues to entertain British audiences with his latest visit – a month long tour with Ireland’s Sandy Kelly celebrating the 50th anniversary of Patsy Cline’s final concert. Previously the two artists had co-starred in “Patsy Cline: The Musical” which enjoyed performances in London’s West End as well as long running provincial tours in Britain and Ireland.
Looking ahead, Hamilton notes the Grand Ole Opry as his musical home place, having first taken trips there from his native North Carolina as a child. “I’m very proud to be a member of the Opry family and feel very comfortable as a backstage host in addition to performing” he says. “I’m really looking forward to meeting and greeting the folks from all over the world who come to visit with us”.

The Living Room Sessions
Don’t Worry Baby 3:51 I Just Can’t Help Believing 3:47 Most of All 3:46 Eyes of a New York Woman 3:13
(Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song 3:20 I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry 3:22 Rock and Roll Lullaby 4:27
New Looks From an Old Lover 3:27
What Ever Happened to Old Fashioned Love 3:47 Hooked on a Feeling 3:00 Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head 3:00 Everybody’s Out of Town 3:35
This album starts off with a really soft easy listening song. So far it is a nice welcome change. B.J. Thomas has a great voice that really goes well with the acoustic guitar, some background singers, and a soft melody. A lot of these albums I don’t know what to expect, what I’m about to get myself into, and then it happens. Everything I was dreading comes alive and I’m pissing myself, hiding under the covers, and crunching down on my fingernails so fiercely that my knuckles are showing bone. Don’t Worry Baby has got my attention. Finally, I can start an album just relaxing, sinking into the pillows and smoothly tapping out some nice easy keystrokes.
I Just Can’t Help Believing keeps it up. The sweet, splashing acoustic guitar drapes the listener with pouring sunlight and can’t help bring out a smile. The comforts of the living room are truly brought out in this song. Well hey, so far so good, let’s move on to the third track.
Most of All (with Keb Mo) reminds me a lot of James Taylor. Wait a minute. I’ve definitely heard this song before. Hold on. Let me look down the playlist really quick. Now, I remember.
I was just cleaning up the bar getting ready to open. It was the summer of 2001, and I was working on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. The DJ always played a few songs I liked before the street got busy. I got to work on this review. I’ll get back to my story later. Deep in the Eyes of a New York Woman keeps the album moving along nicely. The more songs I listen to now, the more I can’t believe I didn’t think of it before. Especially with (Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song. The further we get into the album the more you’ll understand why I wrote that. Just listen to the vocals carefully. Pay attention to his pitch, closely follow the tone.
I’m So Lonesome I could Cry is the first real downer I have encountered so far. It kind of seems out of place. Then, Rock and Roll Lullaby comes on, this is another song that most people will recognize. If you didn’t hear the original, I’m sure you’ve heard a cover. The next two songs are more like ‘love songs’ than anything on the album. I guess they’re more for the couples.
So now it’s time to get back to my story. I’m getting the bar ready, wiping it down, cleaning out the ashtrays, etc. etc. The DJ is up in the booth on a second floor above me, but I can see him and he can hear me as I yell. He’s playing “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond. I’m dancing around the bar as I’m cleaning and he yells out. “What do you want to hear next?”
I yell back, “Play that other song by him…You know… Hooked on a Feeling”
He yells, “He doesn’t sing that.”
And I, young and cocky as ever, laugh, pull out two hundred dollar bills, slap them on the bar, and say, “I’ll bet you right now.”
He comes down, and almost simultaneously, tosses the vinyl on the counter slaps his hand over my money and has it tucked deep inside his pocket before I can pick up the record and read it. B.J. Thomas I read, and the only thought that came to mind was, “Wow. I lost. There goes my two hundred bucks.”
I truly feel honored to even get the chance to review this album. This is B.J. Thomas’ first ‘unplugged’ album. It celebrates his fifty years in the music industry. During his career he has sold over 70 million records, has had eleven gold records, has had multiple top 40 hits, the list just goes on and on. This album is a must have for any country music fan, or better yet, any fan of music. Whether you are a die-hard pickup driving, beer guzzling, trailer park tenant, or an evangelical missionary bible toting preacher; hell why not even a monk locked behind the bricks of some castle tower in some faraway distant world, or a twisted death metal music fan banging his head so hard that the day to day grind of his shirt and tie seem to evaporate with each strike of the stage, this album is a must have for EVERYONE!

Morgan Frazier - YELLOW BRICK ROAD
- Yellow Brick Road (Weg ohne Wiederkehr?)
- Cowboys Ride, mit sehr guten Gitarrensolis
- Love Letters, wie schon der Titel verspricht, eine ruhigere Nummer
- Halo ....... es war nur ein Lichtschein ...
- Part Of My Show. Dieses Stück, ein langsamer, etwas wehmütiger Walzer, gefällt mir persönlich am besten. Verleitet sofort zum mitsingen.

ON THE ROAD WITH THE EVERHARTS
To say the Everhart's are 'on the road' is an understatement. They just returned from a 4-month tour of Florida, and last week we found them in St. Paul, Minnesota, invited to see a concert by Michael Nesmith.
"You might not remember who Michael Nesmith is," Bob said, "he was the young guy in the green stocking cap on a television show called the Monkees. It was supposed to be a humorous television program making fun of the Beatles, and it did that, but more importantly it was an opportunity for a young Texan to take his 12-string guitar, his wit, and his uncanny ability to write beautiful love songs to another level. Sheila was a fan of the Monkees long before I was, but I've been a long-time fan of Nesmith, especially when he had his 'First National Band' and did so much really good country music with steel player Red Rhodes, after the Monkees. And yes, when he did his show at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul (this is where Prairie Home Companion is taped), he had a steel player with him. (Red Rhodes passed away several years ago). He even did a song using a tape of Rhodes, so they could still do it together....live. It was incredibly well done, as was the entire two-hour concert. A really remarkable concert that we see so little of these days, with really good musicians playing really good music, and better 'country' music than anything on the charts anywhere."
"When we got back home, we got an e-mail asking us to tell them how we liked the concert," Sheila said. "Bob immediately told them that they needed to move Garrison and the Companion to Des Moines or Omaha or North Platte, because Michael Nesmith 'rules' St. Paul. Well, I don't think they will do that, but to say Nesmith's concert was incredible, is an understatement. He was that and much much more. He did the songs he wrote over the years, and introduced each song with a short story about why he wrote it. It was an absolutely thrilling way to see and hear a remarkable concert."
"Dad finally found a close-to-home place to get a budget lunch," Bobbie Lhea, the Everhart's daughter piped up. "We had a grand time in St. Paul, but there certainly wasn't any budget lunch on that trip, but our Casey's store just remodeled and reopened in Anita, and they have added a great 'sub' restaurant to their great pizzas, so that's what we had. I can give you the breakdown because dad gave me the receipt. Mom and I each had an Italian beef sub, and dad had a roast beef. We had three Lipton Sweet Teas, and the total was $14.90. Dad had a big smile on his face when he handed me the receipt, but I know it was also because these subs are really good, and make a very nice filling lunch. I can't wait for our next big adventure and that's the SpringFest at the Oak Tree Opry in Anita. Dad says there are over 30 performers coming, I can't wait. April 19-20-21, can't wait."
