Sold-Out Concert Raises $125,000 For Children’s Charities

Jake Owen Vero Beach Concert

NASHVILLE, TN (December 19, 2012) –  Platinum-selling country singer Jake Owen is bringing some extra cheer to this holiday season by raising $125,000 for children’s charities at his annual foundation concert in his hometown of Vero Beach, Florida, on Saturday, December 15, 2012.
The “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” hit-maker wrapped his first headlining tour, CMT ON TOUR JAKE OWEN: THE SUMMER NEVER ENDS 2012, with a sold-out concert at the city's Vero Beach Sports Village. All of the proceeds will benefit the Jake Owen Foundation, which supports St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and youth organizations in Indian River County, Florida, including Autism Speaks and the Mardy Fish Foundation.
Over 6,200 fans attended and Jake is grateful for their support. He shares, "A huge thank you to everyone in Vero Beach Saturday night for an awesome show and helping us raise money for such a great cause. I can’t think of a better way to end the CMT Tour and this amazing year!"
Earlier this month, the American Country Awards Breakthrough Artist of the Year set the record for the CMT Tour’s most consecutive sold-out shows to date. His high-energy live show and captivating songs have garnered the attention of headlining acts (Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw) and media alike. In 2013, Jake will join Jason Aldean’s NIGHT TRAIN TOUR.
Since releasing his chart-topping album, Barefoot Blue Jean Night, Jake has emerged as one of country music’s leading vocalists. The album has delivered three consecutive No. 1 hit singles, the first two of which held the top spot on the chart for multiple weeks - the PLATINUM-selling title track, GOLD-certified “Alone with You" and “The One That Got Away.”

Nashville, TN – The year of 2012 for Stella Parton has been filled with book signings, concerts, workshops, new releases and exciting projects on the horizon!

Most recently, the audiobook version of her inspirational memoir, Tell It Sister, Tell It, was made available for the first time – unedited and uncensored!   Narrating the book herself, Stella comments, “Yes, this audiobook is a little different than the paperback.  It was difficult to write this very personal memoir, but reading it was even more challenging, and as I read, other things just came to mind.”

Also released in 2012 was her DVD, Live In Nashville (footage from a 1990 concert in Nashville was pulled from the Attic Entertainment archives to compile this first installment in the planned Vintage Collection Series).

In addition, Stella has launched Stella Parton’s Red Tent Revival and Women’s Conference, an event developed by Stella to empower, validate, and encourage women to reach their full potential through information, inspiration, laughter, entertainment and acceptance.  Women from all walks of life are welcome in the “red tent” where sisterhoods are created.  For more information on this exciting new event, visit,

Anticipation has been building for Stella’s new Virtue Collection, which includes perfume, body lotion, linen spray, bubble bath, bath bar and scented powder.   This special fragrance set is now ready to be sold and will be available on her website very soon.

“This has been an amazing year.  I am thankful for all the wonderful people I have met this year and for my family and friends.  I am truly blessed,” reflects Stella.

Because she has been so blessed, Stella continues to give back through donations from book sales to women’s and children’s shelters as well as participating in events such as Christmas Blessing 2012 and Operation Coal Christmas, which brings food and toys to Appalachian coal families hit hard by the economic downturn.

Stella Parton’s music and writing continues to touch lives around the world.  There’s still time to purchase Stella’s CDs, DVD, book and audiobook for someone special this Christmas…or complete your collection now because next year is already looking bright and full of creative projects on the horizon for Stella including some recording projects, another book and a new movie!

Stella Parton’s career is rockin’ into 2013!  Tell it sister, tell it!

X Factor Little Big Town

Country foursome Little Big Town will wrap up 2012 with a performance of their #1 hit single “Pontoon” on the Live Part 1 Season Finale of the X Factor tomorrow at 8/7 C on FOX. They will be performing with finalist Tate Stevens.
The band has had a banner year with the release of their critically-acclaimed fifth studio album Tornado, which was recently certified gold by the RIAA, and features the CMA “Single of the Year – Pontoon” as well as current single “Tornado.” Little Big Town also walked away with the CMA “Vocal Group of the Year” trophy and most recently the ACA for “Music Video of the Year: Group or Collaboration-Pontoon.” The group will vie for “Best Country Duo/Group Performance-Pontoon” at the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards this February.

Nashville Artists Make Forbes ’30 Under 30′ List

Nashville-based artists Taylor Swift and Kesha have made Forbes Magazine’s annual ’30 Under 30 list.’ The list acknowledges the high achievement of people under age 30 in several categories, including food and wine, education and the arts.
“In sum, they represent the entrepreneurial, creative and intellectual best of their generation,” the magazine said in describing the group. “Individually, they are engaging, surprising and incredibly hardworking.”
Pop music entertainer Kesha, 25, and country music singer Swift, 23, have both earned numerous honors in the music world. Kesha has won several Billboard awards, her singles “Tik Tok” and “We R Who We R” both topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts and her latest album, Warrior, cracked the Top 10 on the Billboard 200.

Blake Shelton, 'Saturday Night Live' Host?

Blake Shelton hosting "Saturday Night Live"? It could happen, if group of fans behind a Facebook movement is successful. And not surprisingly, the group already has the musical guest lined up, too: Blake's wife -- and fellow country superstar -- Miranda Lambert.
"If Facebook can get Betty White we sure as hell can get Blake and Miranda on SNL!" reads a message on the page, which currently has just over 1,000 "likes" from followers on the social-media site. In 2010, a grassroots campaign started by a San Antonio-based fan of the actress was successful in getting the TV veteran booked on the late-night comedy series.
A similar, but thus far unsuccessful, movement, also in 2010, was undertaken in hopes of getting Reba McEntire booked on the show. Garth Brooks, Taylor Swift,Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton are the only country stars to host the series in its 38 seasons.

CHARLIE McCOY - Precious Memories

 Precious Memories
CHARLIE McCOY - Precious Memories
What A Friend We Have In Jesus - The Old Rugged Cross - Wayfaring Stranger - Don't Worry Bout Nothin' - In The Garden - Just A Closer Walk With Thee - Precious Memories - I'll Fly Away - Peace In The Valley - I Love To Tell The Story - Amazing Grace - Lord's Prayer/Only Time For Love
Every time I introduce Charlie McCoy at a performance, and there have been many times, I introduce him as the best harmonica player on planet earth.  I have yet to have anyone tell me otherwise.  Charlie is one of those magnificently gifted musical artists that paints musical pictures with his instrument.  If you've never heard Charlie McCoy play harmonica, you have no idea what I am talking about.  If you have heard him play, you know immediately.  He often refers to his instrument as the French Harp.  Actually the harmonica was a water filled glass thing you played by rubbing your fingers across the rim.  The French Harp was the first instrument using reeds similar to an accordion.  Charlie McCoy likes to spend his free time in France, he speaks French fluently, and when he performs in France, most often Paris, you best be there early or you don't get in.  He rents a house in France and spends his free time there.  This brand new CD by him reflects his reminisces as he rests.  These songs he selected not only 'fit' our yuletide season, its brings us very very close to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Charlie likes to play 'cross-harp' best, and he makes it work so dramatically well.  The first time I heard him do "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" he stunned me with his ability to make each and every note work so well for him, even though he was playing them backwards.  The same holds true on this remarkable album, especially "Wayfaring Stranger."  He asked Lulu Roman to sing the lead.  She's magnificent, just like him, what a totally beautiful gathering of gifts.  It is my sincere desire that Charlie nominate this lovely woman for America's Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame.  He uses other remarkable talents too; the Jordanaires, Laney Hicks, the Music City Tonight Singers, and Wanda Vick, all of them adding their special gifts, blending with Charlie's French Harp.
Charlie has been living in Nashville for a very long time, so he knows which studios to use, which backing musicians that will do their very best, and on top of all that, you'll find this "just out" super CD on his own record label, Flying Harp Productions.  If you've been looking for that special Christmas gift, this is it.  If you like harmonica playing, you should not be without this one.  If you don't like harmonica playing, this CD will change your mind.

Bice to make Broadway debut in ‘Pump Boys & Dinettes’ March 2013

Visit www.bobice.comNashville, Tenn. (December 18, 2012) – Bo Bice, Sugar Money Records artist, signs with newly-formed Altar Agency and announces the upcoming lead role in the revival of the 1980’s Broadway musical ‘Pump Boys and Dinettes’. The production will be held at the Circle in the Square Theater with preview performances to commence March 19, 2013 with an official open April 8th.

The original production opened off-Broadway in 1981 and moved to Broadway in February 1982, completing 573 performances over 16 months.  The musical is a tribute to rural American life centered around a roadside restaurant and filling station on Highway 57 in North Carolina.  Tony winner John Doyle (for “Sweeny Todd”, Director) is also set to direct the ‘Pump Boys’ revival, where the cast ensemble doubles as the show’s band.  It received both Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations for Best Musical.

Bice, a runner-up finalist to Carrie Underwood on American Idol’s fourth season, has released three studio albums. He has also recorded and performed with Carlos Santana, Ritchie Sambora, Willie Nelson, Chad Kroeger and Lynyrd Skynyrd, amongst others, and is now expanding his already eclectic repertoire to include Broadway.

“Altar Agency is excited to welcome Bo Bice to their roster,” says General Manager D. Scott Miller.  “We are truly excited with all that is to come in 2013”.

THE MORRIS BROTHERS - Record Review Reflections...No Other Fountain

Reflections...No Other Fountain
Gone Home - No Other Fountain - Teardrops Falling In The Snow - The Family Who Prays - He Keeps On Blessing Me - Whispering Hope - Insured Beyond The Grave - We'll Meet In Heaven Again - The Blood That stained The Cross - If We Never Tell - My Journey Home - White
The long journey home, and going home, is on the Morris Brothers minds.  Probably rightly so, they are both quite elderly now, in their 80's, yet they still sing, play, and produce some of the very best gospel music emanating from America these days.  Herb and Homer Morris, mandolinist and guitarist, live in Georgia.  I can't think of a better place for salvation's music to come from.  They are so devoted to our saviour Jesus Christ, I'm sure they would take a good hard sock at you if you belittled Him.  Well, maybe not, these two guys are the most gentlemanly men I know.  And, it's not just their music that moves their many fans to a joyous response, and Christ Himself for surely He hears all.  It's their singing too.  It's how they play their instruments.  It's their unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ.  Put them together with the famous Easter boys, and a few other super musicians, how can it not be absolutely wonderful to listen to this testimony to our Lord Jesus.
That's what it's all about, I'm sure both Homer and Herb will tell you.  It's the 'testifying.'  Why else are they given this blessed talent, this gift of music, this ability to 'say' what they believe in lyrics and song.  For this very same reason they dipped back into the past to do some of the gospel music of the Louvin Brothers.  Even a remote Albert Brumley song.  If you were to ask them about that, they would quite simply tell you, "It's the truth."  And that's what these two believers will continue to do, tell the truth.
Their sessions are very smooth, gentle, not over produced, genuine, and you can tell the musicians are having a wonderful time backing these two gentlemen as they present their very stylized harmony, that only brothers can do. They asked Andy Leftwich to step in on fiddle and double-mandolin.  My does he do a nice job.  So old-timey and so real.  Steve Easter produced, and he knows exactly what to look for in the Morris Brothers music.  He also added steel, Dobro, and banjo to the mix, and what a wonderful 'mix' it is.  I always feel so humble after I've listened to the Morris Brothers perform their delightful gospel songs, but I also feel very uplifted, stronger, and maybe even more usable by Jesus.
Sheila (my wife) and I were just on tour in Georgia, pretty close to the Morris Brothers who live in Marietta.  We did a show in Decatur (actually part of Atlanta), and if we didn't have to rush on to Florida, we definitely would have stopped for a cup of tea and a good conversation.  Next time guys, hang around awhile, we'll get there.

Smokestack Lightnin’ Feat Eddie Angel & Paul Burch - Stolen Friends

Smokestack Lightnin’ Feat Eddie Angel & Paul Burch - Stolen Friends

Pull on your knee high swamp boots, and get your mosquito netted hat
strapped because Track 1 takes you deep into the thick of it all. As
the airboat gets moving, keep your head down and eyes focused to avoid
the Spanish moss draping off the cypress. Their roots stretching from
the water with the gators lunging at the boat cause the necessary
sharp turns to keep you alive. The deeper into it the hissing of the
rattlesnakes puts you into survival mode You can feel the intense
humidity that’s about to come.
Once the darkness starts to descend, Track 2 guides you toward the
lights in the distance. You are now approaching a roadhouse and feel
the thirst coming on for some drinks and some women. Looking beside
you as you walk you notice the choppers and hear the guitar piercing
the old wooden door as it slams open and shut with each new patron
arriving. Get ready to start moving with the leather clad women
gliding across the dance floor.
The band ends and you are left drunk and by yourself. You’re lucky
Track 3 has started. Stumbling outside you see the tracks rattling as
a freight train approaches. You run and grab hold of a rail and climb
aboard the train as it rolls into the late night hours. The empty car,
the thumping of the wooden tracks below, The desolate crossings with
the flashing red lights bring you into the chaos that starts
enveloping your mind. Those lights and the towns as you pass by start
to bring out Satan Reflecting on the emptiness of your life, makes you
slam your body against the steel walls and your eyes become more
demonic than they have ever been.
Track 4 brings you further into the night. Tiredness brings about
deep reflection into the soul. It brings about comparisons of others
and yourself, as the solos from the guitar really accentuate this
Track 5 is a lot smoother. It sounds more peaceful. Yet it brings the
science fiction into play with the thoughts of UFO interaction. With
Track 6 the Everglades and the swamp-life are back. This time it’s a
lot more blues guitar that drives the song. The lyrics help build upon
it and strengthen with the different species of life mentioned; both
animal and plant.
Track 7 starts a much more upbeat sound to the album. It reminds me
of a 1960’s rock & roll band. The drumbeat really drives this track.
In Track 8 the beat keeps a fast tempo. This track is a great deal
different than I have heard off this album so far. It almost seems
that the band really worked together on each track and shared each
member’s talents. This type of style really makes the band seem more
attractive because so far, I believe, no single member has tried to
outdo the others. The teamwork, or rather band-work, of creating each
track is amazing this rarely happens.
The lead guitar solos really add and make Track 9. It’s almost melodic
drumbeat, lyrics, and guitar start to bring down the album to let the
listener know that the end is near. Track 10’s lyrics are really
colorful and vivid. They create poetic pictures and the description
really adds to the depth.
Overall, this album really needs to be played with a good system or
headphones to really appreciate it. At first I listened to it on a
pair of cheap broken headphones. It was good, due to the fact that I
have been down in the swamps of Florida and Louisiana. It painted a
picture that sparked my own memories. Because of this, I gave it a
chance with better headphones and a better system. The difference was
immeasurable. It really deserves that attention and that better sound
to fully appreciate it.
