Jimmy Parkers CD Release Party

IMG_0884.JPG
It was indeed my pleasure to attend a CD release party for the new
release from Jimmy Parker simply titled 'Home' on CMG Nashville. It
was held at The Preston Hotel which has played host to numerous
country stars over the years. There were a large number of my artists
friends in attendance along with folks from both radio and print
media.

A group out of Southern Illinois called Mocking Bird Hill kicked off
the festivities with an awesome set featuring the very lovely &
talented Hollie Hiller. This was followed up by Austin Indiana's Lanny
McIntosh who put on a spectacular show. If you haven't heard him yet
you really need to as this man has a voice that certainly grabbed my
attention and I have heard a few singers in my 28 plus years.

Finally the man of the hour Jimmy Parker took the stage after being
introduced by Steven B. Riley head of CMG Nashville to a hearty
welcome from friends and fans alike. He performed not only some of the
tracks from his new CD but a number of country classics delivered in
true country style as only Jimmy Parker can.

We at Nashville Radio Promotions are extremely proud to be involved in
helping to promote Jimmy Parker's music to country radio and his many
fans from around The World.

Keny Chesney's "No Shoes Nation" Tour Sells Out Minneapolis In 30 Minutes

Keny Chesney's "No Shoes Nation" Tour Sells Out Minneapolis In 30 Minutes

Although it’s only 31 degrees today in the Twin Cities, it feels a lot like summer to nearly 40,000 members of Kenny Chesney’s No Shoes Nation. Tickets for the July 12 show at Target Field in Minneapolis were snapped up by fans in a mere 30 minutes.
Chesney, the 4 time CMA and 4 time ACM Entertainer of the year said, “The fans in Minnesota bring a lot of passion and energy to our summer. They truly represent what No Shoes Nation is all about.” Last month Chesney was honored with the Billboard ‘Top Package’ Award for the year's top-grossing tour with three or more artists on the bill (sales of his 'Brothers of the Sun' Tour hit $100 million) and the "Road Warrior" Award, celebrating uncommon work ethic, professionalism and artistic integrity on the road. It is his seventh “Top Package” and ninth Billboard Touring award overall.
With yesterday’s announcement of an additional show in Foxboro, Chesney will play 18 stadium shows next year bringing his career total to 101 stadiums. The 'No Shoes Nation' Tour, kicks off Saturday, March 16 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
The Corona Light Presents Kenny Chesney's 'No Shoes Nation' Tour, starring Kenny Chesney, will feature special guest Eric Church - whose critically-acclaimed album 'Chief' was named 'Album of the Year' at the 2012 CMA Awards - as well as Eli Young Band and Kacey Musgraves. Several tour dates, including the July 12th Minneapolis show, will also feature the GRAMMY-Award winning Zac Brown Band, whose latest album 'Uncaged' debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200.

Carrie Zaruba Comes A-Caroling

Country’s Newest Carrie Zaruba Comes A-Caroling To Spread Christmas Cheer to Those Less Fortunate

Country’s newest vocal vixen vagabond, Carrie Zaruba, is putting her soulful vocals to good use this holiday season as she joins SAG-AFTRA Nashville’s 22nd Annual Holiday Caroling event.

This Tuesday, December 11th, Carrie will join a festive choir of talented vocalists and musicians as they share the music of the season and visit men, women and children’s homeless shelters, School for the Blind and the J.B. Knowles Retirement Center in Nashville.

"I’m coming out with bells on,” laughs Carrie. “I am so excited to bring the magic and happiness of this season to those who might be missing it this year.  I feel so blessed to be caroling with SAG-AFTRA this Christmas!”

After getting a kick start from her American Idol Top 100 journey, Carrie is well on her way with the debut release of her current single, “Woman On A Mission.” This song is making waves in Music City as well as across the country with her smooth voice, country spin and solid drive. Music Row’s renowned music critic, Robert K. Oermann said “there’s real talent here, in songwriting as well as singing.”

Carrie is utilizing her extensive vocal training to live up to her influences such as The Dixie Chicks, Little Big Town, Stevie Nicks, and Patti Griffin. She’s currently teaming up with Grammy-nominated Kent Wells, who has produced the likes of Dolly Parton and Neal McCoy, to release her debut album in the spring of 2013. Her rich musical education includes the renowned Baltimore School for the Arts and rigorous classical vocal training as a Lyric Mezzo Soprano in a conservatory setting. She has studied vocal performance in opera and jazz at The University of the Arts, Philadelphia, completing the Bachelors program in Music. With her unyielding confidence and a go get ‘em attitude, Carrie is here to open up her world to her listeners, projecting a brilliant snapshot of strength, vulnerability and love. Be sure to like Carrie on Facebook at CarrieZarubaOfficial and follow her on Twitter @Carrie_Zaruba.

About SAG-AFTRA: SAG-AFTRA brings together two of the entertainment industry’s most powerful unions: The Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. Both were formed in the 1930s in an effort to defend and preserve the rights of actors and media artists. Today, they unite to negotiate the fairest wages and working conditions for those in the industry, while also protecting members from unauthorized usage of their creative works. The Nashville division also works to protect the rights of songwriters. This year’s caroling event marks the first event in Nashville since the merger of these two unions. STEEP CANYON RANGERS NOMINATED FOR BEST BLUEGRASS ALBUM

NOBODY KNOWS YOU BY STEEP CANYON RANGERS NOMINATED FOR BEST BLUEGRASS ALBUM AT THE 55TH ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS
Band’s Second Consecutive Nomination for Best Bluegrass Album

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 6, 2012) - Nobody Knows You from Bluegrass sensation Steep Canyon Rangers is nominated for Bluegrass Album of the Year at the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

Nobody Knows You, released April 10, 2012 from Rounder Records, is the seventh album from the North Carolina-based group and their Rounder debut. Met with critical and commercial acclaim, Nobody Knows You - co-produced by 9-time GRAMMY winner Gary Paczosa - is fueled by deft musicianship, original songwriting, distinctive vocals and creative arrangements that eschew all formulas.
This nomination marks the second for the group, who were nominated in this same category at last year’s GRAMMY ceremony for Rare Bird Alert, their collaborative effort with comedy icon Steve Martin.
The Steep Canyon Rangers are Mike Guggino (mandolin), Charles Humphrey III (bass), Woody Platt (guitar), Nicky Sanders (fiddle) and Graham Sharp (banjo). The group first formed during their college days at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ten years later, the band has only deepened their commitment to roots music performing with fierce instrumental prowess, but also providing deeply moving songwriting and harmonies, infusing traditional bluegrass with contemporary themes and arrangements.
Each year the band presents the Mountain Song Festival in their native Brevard, N.C. and will again prove their innovative spirit as they move the festival to the open seas with Mountain Song at Sea, a floating Bluegrass festival experience. Mountain Song at Sea will make its inaugural voyage in February 2013.
The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards will air live from Los Angeles on Feb. 10, 2013. For more information, please visit www.SteepCanyon.com.

The Watkins Family are inducted into Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame

The Watkins Family are inducted into Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame

The acoustic music of the Watkins Family has thrilled audiences for more than 30 years and the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame recently recognized that accomplishment.
The group from Toccoa, Ga. currently includes matriarch Judy Watkins and her two adult children - Todd and Lorie. They continue a path sharing their love of Jesus through acoustic music touring across the United States and Canada.
This is such an honor for our family to receive,” Lorie said. “To be recognized in such a manner for the many years of hard work and service in music is very humbling.
The late Don Watkins and Judy began their ministry in the 1970s and added their children Todd, Lorie and Shanon as each took an interest in participating.
“There are so many to thank, our family, friends, church family, and most importantly the Lord Jesus Christ - our Savior,” Lorie said. “This ministry was the vision of our dad, Donald H. Watkins, and mom many years ago. We are just so thankful to be able to continue the work that our parents started and hope to continue for many, many years to come.”
Lorie and Todd performed at the event as part of the All-Star Band and Judy joined in to perform Pass Me Not.
The Watkins Familys latest project is “Heaven's Worth Waiting Foryielded three songs landing on various charts in the Top 10 for southern, bluegrass or country gospel – She's Working On Her Testimony,””Sometime's You Gotta Rock The Boat, and What A Wonderful Name.
The CD produced by Grammy winner Mark Fain, Grammy nominated Karen Peck Gooch, and Danny Jones followed their acclaimed project “Darkness Wept” which brought the popular radio singles “He's Still God,” a number 1 song, “Love Stood Alone” and “Round The Last Turn.”
The Watkins Family and its members have received multiple nominations for the Front Porch Fellowship Bluegrass Gospel Music Awards.
Members of the Watkins Family have appeared as part of the National Quartet Convention All-Star Band on numerous occasions.
The group has shared concert stages performing for thousands beside acts such a Randy Travis and Diamond Rio. They have appeared at major industry events including the National Quartet Convention in Kentucky and the SPBGMA Bluegrass Music Convention in Nashville, Tenn. as well as large ministerial crusades.
The family has performed on television broadcasts for INSP, Inspirational Network and dozens of stations around the U.S. And Canada.
The group broke new ground in becoming the first bluegrass gospel act to perform on Capitol Hill in the Capitol Complex in Washington D.C. attended by dignitaries from around the world.
The Watkins Family has received nominations as Best Contemporary and Traditional Bluegrass Gospel Group by the Society for the Preservation of BlueGrass Music in America and was also nominated as Best Bluegrass Act at the Coca-Cola Music Awards previously hosted in Atlanta.
"We just thank the Lord for all He’s done for us and our work in music," Judy said. "Awards, honors and amazing opportunities are blessings but there is no greater blessing than working each day sharing His story of salvation.
"Don would be so proud right now,” she said. "I know he’s somewhere in Heaven smiling."

The Time Jumpers Nominated!
Supergroup Adds Two More Grammy Nods To Their List

NASHVILLE – December 6, 2012 – The Grammy nominations have been announced and Rounder recording act The Time Jumpers has been awarded two --  Best Country Album for The Time Jumpers, and Best Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group--Country for “On The Outskirts Of Town.”  This is the third and fourth nomination for the supergroup whose first two nominations came in 2007 for tracks from their live Jumpin’ Time album.  Click on this link to see the video for "On The Outskirts Of Town." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_NhSy9aJY8

“I couldn’t be happier for my fellow bandmembers,” said Vince Gill, who joined the band three years ago. “It’s a really sweet validation for some amazing musicians and amazing singers.”

The Time Jumpers includes 11 members, each a master of his (and, in one case, her)
instrument.  They are Vince Gill (vocals, electric and acoustic guitars),   Dennis Crouch (upright bass), Larry Franklin (fiddle), Paul Franklin (steel guitar), “Ranger Doug” Green (vocals, acoustic rhythm guitar), Andy Reiss (electric guitar), Dawn Sears (vocals), Kenny Sears (vocals, fiddle), Joe Spivey (fiddle, vocals) Jeff Taylor (accordion, piano) and Billy Thomas (drums, vocals).  (Individual bios available at www.thetimejumpers.com.)

Kenny Sears, the group’s band leader added, “When we made this album the only thing we were thinking about was to make it as good as we could musically, and I feel like we did that.  But to get two Grammy nominations and top 10 on the Americana charts, well we're excited beyond belief.  We weren't aiming for chart numbers or nominations, so to get those is more icing on the cake than we ever dreamed of.”

The Time Jumpers was established in Nashville in 1998 by an assemblage of high-dollar studio musicians who wanted to spend some spare time drinking beer and jamming with their sonically gifted buddies.  Since then the band has built a huge following that travels from around the world to see them every Monday night in Nashville, originally at The Station Inn and now at 3rd & Lindsley.

The group will be touring in 2013.  Here are some of their upcoming tour dates:

2/7   The Hamilton – Washington DC

2/8   Sandler Center for the Performing Arts – Virginia Beach, VA

2/9   Emporia-Greensville Performing Arts Center – Emporia, VA

2/10 City Winery – New York, NY

2/14 Stone Mountain Arts Center –Brownfield, ME

2/15 American Music Theater - Lancaster PA

2/16 State Theatre Center for the Arts – Easton PA

The Time Jumpers was released in September on Rounder Records.  The band is managed by Fitzgerald-Hartley and booked by WME.
