22-City Tour Kicks off Friday, November 23

Nashville, Tenn. (November 21, 2012) - This holiday season, GRAMMY Award-winning country music star Billy Dean once again joins country legend Kenny Rogers on his annual Christmas & Hits Tour.  The 22-city tour kicks off this Friday, November 23 in Catoosa, Oklahoma and wraps December 23 in Westbury, New York.

Rogers' annual holiday tour makes every concert a unique experience for each city by inviting local children’s choirs to accompany the duo on stage for the show.  Dean believes this is a heartwarming aspect of the tour and the part that he enjoys most.  “A big highlight is getting to rehearse each day with the local kids who join the show,” he says. “To use Kenny's words, ‘it's not Christmas until the choir sings.'"

"I look forward to Kenny's Christmas and Hits Tour because of the personal gift it gives me each year," says Dean.  "It puts a lot of smiles on faces and it brings folks together in the spirit of the season and those are things I love being a part of.  The audience gives us something special back every night and those of us on tour become family."

This holiday season marks Dean's third year joining Rogers on the road for his annual Christmas tour.

Nation’s Longest Running Fundraiser Celebrates 122nd Year and Seeks to Raise Donations for Communities Rebuilding After Hurricane Sandy
While many people across the country are making final preparations for their Thanksgiving meal, four time CMA and four time ACM Entertainer of the Year Kenny Chesney is adding last minute touches for his halftime performance during the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game against the Washington Redskins at 3:15PM (CT) on FOX. With his final rehearsal today at Cowboy's Stadium in Arlington, TX, Chesney is excited to a part of the kick-off of The Salvation Army’s 122nd annual Red Kettle Campaign. “This is a time of year when many people are in need of a helping hand. I’m excited to partner with The Salvation Army and the Dallas Cowboys to encourage the American people to help the less fortunate,” said Kenny Chesney. “I hope my music will elevate awareness for the Red Kettle Campaign, and in the end, help provide a warm meal, clothing or a bed for someone this holiday season.”
The nationally televised show marks the 16th year the Dallas Cowboys have helped The Salvation Army launch the campaign, which began on a San Francisco pier in 1891. Kenny’s performance will help raise awareness and millions of dollars for the Red Kettle Campaign, which collected a record $147.6 million last year. Funds will support people in need, including those still experiencing the lasting impact of Hurricane Sandy this Christmas season.
Kenny will perform a number of his top hits from past albums, as well as his most recent studio album, Welcome to the Fishbowl, which debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart. Since its release in June 2012, Welcome to the Fishbowl has been certified gold and includes the hit singles "Feel Like a Rock Star," "Come Over,” and current hit “El Cerrito Place.” Throughout his nearly 20-year career, Kenny has sold more than 27 million albums and had 24 #1 singles.
Since the partnership between the Dallas Cowboys and The Salvation Army began in 1997, the Red Kettle Campaign has raised more than $1.5 billion with the help of multiple top-tier musical acts spanning the past 15 years. Previous halftime performers have included: Enrique Iglesias, Keith Urban, Daughtry, Jonas Brothers, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Sheryl Crow, Destiny’s Child, Toby Keith, LeAnn Rimes, Creed, Jessica Simpson, Billy Gillman, Clint Black, Randy Travis and Reba McEntire.
“Something special happens when the Dallas Cowboys and The Salvation Army come together for the Red Kettle Campaign on Thanksgiving Day – people are driven to give and help their neighbors,” said Charlotte Jones Anderson, Executive Vice President of Brand Management for the Dallas Cowboys and National Advisory Chairperson for The Salvation Army. “A marquee performance by a star like Kenny Chesney will reach millions of people and hopefully encourage giving this Christmas. We know from experience that The Salvation Army will stretch donations as far as possible to help as many people as possible.”
The Salvation Army continues to provide disaster relief services to families and individuals who are rebuilding from the devastation of Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey. Since late October, The Salvation Army has provided food, hydration, clothing, financial assistance, and other supplies to hundreds of thousands of people. These services and others by The Salvation Army will continue throughout the holiday season and into the New Year until all the need created by Hurricane Sandy is met. Donations made to the Red Kettle Campaign stay in the local community, and any donations made in the impacted areas of New York and New Jersey will help benefit the recovering communities.
“The Red Kettle Campaign this year will help not only those who need The Salvation Army’s assistance day-to-day, but also those who are still recovering from Superstorm Sandy,” said Commissioner William Roberts, National Commander for The Salvation Army. “This is the time of year we need to lend a helping hand to our neighbors, and help them up in His name. We extend a big thanks to the Jones Family and the Dallas Cowboys, as well as Kenny Chesney for helping make this Thanksgiving so special.”
The 2012 Red Kettle Campaign will bring The Salvation Army’s iconic kettles and 25,000 bell ringers to street corners and storefronts nationwide through December 24. Notably, national corporate partners hosting Salvation Army red kettles at their stores through Christmas Eve include Walmart, Macy’s, jcpenney, Kroger, Sam’s Club, Bloomingdales, Walgreens and Big Lots.
Supporters of The Salvation Army can also ring a virtual Red Kettle bell online at , donate by phone at 1-800-SAL-ARMY or text the word “GIVE” to 80888 to make a $10 donation to the Red Kettle Campaign. More information on the Red Kettle Campaign is available online at .

Steel Guitar News November 21. 2012

Today’s newsletter comes to you a day earlier because of Thanksgiving. Here’s hoping you have plenty to be thankful for. We are lucky enough to have Mike Daly once again write a newsletter for us. It’s great getting the insights from a great steel player with a high profile job such as Mike has with Hank Jr. Mike will also be out on a short Christmas tour with Travis Tritt starting the weekend after Thanksgiving. So from here on out, it’s Mike Daly. Here it is closing in on the Christmas season. Time to dust off your favorite Yuletide steel guitar licks, or is it? Some players have a difficult time injecting their own thoughts and licks into preconceived music on the steel, the question being, when do you copy completely somebody’s approach and style to a song as to do the song and the original player justice and when to interject your own preferences and playing style into the mix. The holidays bring a special opportunity for you, the steel player, to experiment and expand your own voicing’s and style to a whole genre of music. The Christmas season has inspired some of the most beautiful and enduring music ever written. For centuries, some of these songs have continued to uplift and inspire people of all walks of life and musical heritage. The songs themselves are etched in most folks consciousness. The beauty of trying to work up a Christmas tune is that they have been recorded in so many different styles and approaches that there is no definitive way to play these songs. From choral groups to Mannheim Steamroller to symphony orchestras, these songs remain vibrant and uplifting no matter how they are arranged. So the challenge for you as a steel player is to find some tunes you enjoy and work at it until you find the arrangement that fits the song and showcases your individual approach and strengths on the steel. For some that might be a jazz approach to “Silent Night”. To others it might be a West Coast Bakersfield arrangement of “Joy To The World”. Whatever you work on, the payoff is that when you are done with your arrangement it is truly yours, a one of a kind piece of music that you can share with others for years to come and help spread the good cheer of Christmas. I think more players should be thinking in these terms, advancing their own style. I think that’s the reason six string guitar playing has had such an impact is that so many players allowed themselves to stretch their imagination, players like Chet Atkins, Jimmy Page, Wes Montgomery and Angus Young. I’ve enjoyed experimenting with Christmas tunes and put out a CD called “Peace On Earth” in which I took great liberties to make the songs my own. You can order a copy from Bobbe. It’s at the bottom of the page: Many thanks to Mike Daly for this newsletter. We will be closed Friday, so we’ve put the Christmas Specials out early at Steel Guitar Nashville 123 Mid Town Court Hendersonville, TN. 37075 (615) 822-5555 Open 9AM – 4PM Monday – Friday Closed Saturday and Sunday

Phoenix Stone Honky Tonk Superstar

Phoenix Stone Releases EP
Honky Tonk Superstar
Lead-Off Single Lands On Billboard Charts

(Nashville, TN)--- Continuing the momentum of his smash debut country single, ‘100 Proof Moonshine,’ hit producer and songwriter, Phoenix Stone, releases digitally today his EP Honky Tonk Superstar. Produced and written by Stone, this EP features 4 original tracks that embrace his southern rock upbringing. It is available on iTunes now and included in their New & Noteworthy section.
This year has already brought him national recognition, including a Billboard magazine online feature, a performance on the nationally syndicated television show, Daytime, and inclusion in the Nashville Lifestyle Magazine’s “25 Most Beautiful People of Nashville 2012,” alongside Lisa Marie Presley and CMT’s Cody Alan.
This project has been a long time coming for Stone, an industry vet that has worked alongside everyone from Art Garfunkel to newcomer, Liana Conway, to the platinum-selling boy band, Backstreet Boys. After landing deals with Warner/Chappell Nashville and Universal Records as a teenager, Stone opted to put his own solo career on the back burner but never lost sight of eventually making an album on his own terms.
The EP’s lead-off single, ‘100 Proof Moonshine,’ has already caught the eye of industry and fans alike. Acclaimed MusicRow reporter, Robert K. Oermann awarded the single his DisCovery Award and called it: “Very nicely produced, with a crashing drum sound, banjo grace notes, a ringing electric guitar and some hearty shouting chorus boys. Stone sings with southern gusto, and the song has loads of memorable hooks. Play it.” While KUPL Portland’s Scott Mahalick declares: “100 Proof…100% Hit!”
As part of the single promotion, Stone set out on a nationwide radio tour with Ole Smoky® Moonshine, Tennessee's First Legal Moonshine, and the success
of that tour has landed the single at #59 on the Billboard/BDS Indicator charts and steadily rising.
The accompanying music video, which was shot at Malibu’s One Gun Ranch, a sprawling  estate originally owned by a member of Guns N’ Roses, debuted today on AOL’s The Boot and can be seen here: CLICK HERE!
In addition, the video will debut on The Country Network this Friday.

Track Listing:
1. 100 Proof Moonshine
2. Honky Tonk Superstar
3. Radio On
4. Cowboys

Phoenix Stone is an acclaimed singer-songwriter, founding member of the Backstreet Boys, and Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of STONEHALL Entertainment, a full-service entertainment firm represented by Creative Artists Agency. Through this label, he has created and produced the teen rock band the Valli Girls as well as developed the band Varsity Fanclub for Stonehall Records/EMI’s Virgin Records and the EastWest Boys, which he signed to Stonehall Records/Sony Japan.
