Carrie Underwood is 4

Carrie Underwood is 4 for 4 as Blown Away Becomes Her 4th Consecutive Country Album Win at The American Music Awards

Carrie Underwood debuted her new single, “Two Black Cadillacs,” last night on The 40th Anniversary American Music Awards with a spectacular performance. The song, written by Underwood, Josh Kear and Hillary Lindsey, is the third single off her critically acclaimed album Blown Away, which garnered a win as “Favorite Country Album.” This win marks the fourth consecutive time an Underwood album has taken home the top album prize at the American Music Awards. Now a seven-time AMA winner, Underwood has been the fans’ choice in the country album category on every album she’s released, also claiming the “Favorite Country Album” honor for her debut Some Hearts in 2007, Carnival Ride in 2008, and Play On in 2010.
This week, Carrie will head back out on her highly praised “Blown Away Tour” with shows in St. Louis, Tulsa, Indianapolis and Detroit with a short break for the Thanksgiving holiday between dates. The arena tour’s first leg will wrap on December 22 and, as recently announced, will continue well into 2013, with 8 new shows selling out over the weekend. A $1 donation from each ticket sold on the North American dates of "The Blown Away Tour" will be given to Red Cross disaster relief. For up to date information on the tour please visit www.carrieunderwood.fm.
Blown Away made history this spring by debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart, making Carrie only the second country artist in the 47-year history of the chart to have each of their first four albums debut at No. 1. Blown Away also debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, making Carrie only the second country artist in history to have three consecutive albums debut at No. 1. Blown Away became country’s best-selling digital album debut since 2010. In addition to reaching No. 1 on the country airplay charts, “Good Girl” and title-track, “Blown Away,” have both been certified Platinum for selling more than 1 million digital downloads. The videos for both songs also reached No.1 on CMT’s Top 20 with “Good Girl” spending a record setting 14 weeks at No. 1.
Since releasing her debut, Some Hearts, in 2005, Carrie has sold more than 15 million albums with Some Hearts, 2007’s Carnival Ride, and 2009’s Play On making her the best-selling American Idol in the U.S. She’s accumulated 16 No. 1 singles, seven of which she co-wrote, and became the first country artist in history and the only American Idol winner ever to achieve 10 No. 1 singles from their first two albums. She is a five-time Grammy winner, a two-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, a three-time Country Music Association and ACM Female Vocalist winner, and a proud member of the Grand Ole Opry.

How Country Stars Build Their Road Crews

How Country Stars Build Their Road Crews

Country Music wouldn’t be where it is today without great artists. But those stars couldn’t grow their audiences without virtuoso road crews.
In many ways, the road crew is just as important a part of the tour as the performer. As Chris Cagle put it, “Everyone is pretty much part of the band. We’re all in it together. If the front-house guy has a bad day, no matter how well the band plays, we suck. If the monitor engineer is off, we can’t hear ourselves play and we’re off. Everybody is vital. We’re all part of the team.
“My most important guy is my road manager, Mike Nash,” he continued. “He knows how to handle me. He takes care of the band and all the logistics. He deals with people in a kind fashion. What you leave in your wake is just as important as what you accomplish. If the guy who represents you treats people with kindness yet sometimes has to be firm, but that firmness is still polite, that goes a long, long way and is one reason promoters have you back.”
Road managers for smaller acts handle everything, while larger tours include both a road manager and a production manager, whose purviews are stage lighting and sound. “Rascal Flatts is a tour with lots of moving parts,” said Mike McGrath, the band’s former Tour Manager. “We have elevators, a video screen and complex lighting. We have departments that handle audio, lighting, sound, video and rigging. The crew has to be able to fix things and fix them quickly.”
“Every crew member knows their job and nobody needs to be told what to do,” added Mark Hively, Tour Manager for Martina McBride. “We have three buses, two semis, five drivers and 13 crew members. We pull in and everyone piles out and gets to work. I’d put my crew up against any crew on the road. They make a great show happen every night.”
Assembling the Crew
“It’s sort of like fielding a baseball team,” said Cagle. “For me, the most important thing is what we call ‘the hang.’ Will this guy be the kind of person you’ll want to spend a lot of time with on tour? We’re driving up and down the road in a tour bus, 500 to 600 miles a night, three or four days a week. The people you hire have to be people you’ll want to be around.”
Hively values work ethic. “I don’t want to be a babysitter,” he insisted. “Our people must be intelligent and know their gig. You often hire people you don’t know, so you call around to check them out. Nashville is actually a pretty small community, so people know each other.”
“We have guys who have never had a Nashville touring position,” said Cagle. “I actually kind of like that because we can train them in our system. You can find people anywhere. I put the word out and will audition anybody. Also, when you have a management system in place, they can recommend people who will fit in. That’s why we’ve had some guys stay with us for five or six years. When we find that fit, we want to do our best to keep them.”
That’s not always easy. Crew members sometimes move up and join artists who pay more money. Experienced roadies can make more than $100,000 when they sign on with big-name acts that travel extensively. “It’s understood that you’ll lose crew members,” McGrath said. “Also, if we find guys from vendors who fit, we will hire them. For example, our front-house guy and monitor guy we hired from Sound Image. They understand. Sometimes they hire people away from us. That’s the way careers are built.”
Rest and Recreation
“Our crew hangs tight with the band,” said Hively, who observed that some members have been onboard with McBride for 15 years. “We’re like a family on the road. Many of us have to be away from our families and our kids, so it makes it even more important to work with people you like being around. Martina is like one of us. On days off, the crew and band go bowling together or golf and fish.”
And when the unexpected happens, an ace crew will be ready to move swiftly and decisively to put on the best possible show. When Rascal Flatts played a private show in Dallas last year, a big storm blew in, heavy with lightning.
“We got everyone inside the building,” said McGrath. “They didn’t expect the band to stay, but the guys said, ‘C’mon, let’s do it.’ We got the sound crew together and within half an hour we were set up for a 45-minute acoustic show. The crew went into emergency mode. The success of that show is a testament to how important these guys really are.”
Cagle summed it up. “I’m very proud to be associated with these guys who are very talented at what they do but who most of all are superior at being people.”

LUCAS HOGE GOES #1, CONTINUES TO PAY IT FORWARD

LUCAS HOGE GOES #1, CONTINUES TO PAY IT FORWARD

Nashville, Tenn. (November 20th, 2012) - Amidst his Best Male Vocalist nomination for the Inspirational Country Music Awards (ICM's) 2012, recording artist Lucas Hoge's single Have I Done Something has gone #1 on the Inspirational Country Music Chart. The awards show, which was taped last month and during which Hoge did a special presentation to the Ronald McDonald House, is set to air on TCT, Total Living Network, Worship Network, Direct TV, NRB Network and Sky Angel IPTV later this month.

Inspired by a true story, Have I Done Something prompts listeners to take action in aiding those around them. "I remember watching the news and thinking 'someone should really do something about that'...and then I turned the question on myself," explains Hoge. "I feel very blessed that this song has been embraced by inspirational country music stations and their listeners."

The inspirational country music market isn't the only area in which Hoge is making news. His country-focused single Do What Makes You Feel Good is still making an impact at country radio, and Hoge has added yet more dates to his Pay It Forward tour. After a successful performance on the All Star Country Vacation in Punta Cana, Lucas was asked to join the Little Kids Rock organization for another show - The Ultimate Rock and Roll Experience - which begins today at the Hard Rock in Cancun, Mexico and concludes on the 24th.

"I look forward to my wife and I spending Thanksgiving paying it forward... Being able to get involved with Little Kids Rock again is something I am very thankful for!"

About Lucas Hoge:
Despite a start that included a 500-square-foot apartment and construction work, Hubbell, Nebraska native Lucas Hoge has found a place in both the country and Christian genres. His first break came when his song, If I Only Could, was featured on their hit series Smallville. Shortly after, Hoge scored a 13-episode HBO series, wrote a jingle for Lipton Tea, and took his talent to the studio, where he recorded two country albums and a Christian EP. His rigorous tour schedule has taken him to Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Middle East performing for the troops, and to major motorcycle rallies across the country (Sturgis included). In 2011, Hoge made his debut at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville along side George Jones and received a standing ovation for his performance. Although his music career keeps him busy, he continues to make time for those causes closest to his heart, including ThanksUSA.org, Guardian Angels for a Soldier's Pet, and Wrangler National Patriot. Christmas Single Release for Gary Quinn

Christmas Single Release for Gary Quinn

You better watch out, you better not cry, you better watch out I'm telling you why! That’s because Gary Quinn is here to brighten your Christmas and fill your holiday season with joy and laughter with his latest musical offering.

This is not your typical Christmas Carol or seasonal tear jerker! Wanting to offer something different, Quinn’s record ‘
Festive Moonshine’ tells of an unusual and humorous encounter with a very important character on their busiest night of the year. It may make you think twice about what sort of beverage it’s best to leave out on Christmas Eve for a certain visitor as it might have a direct impact on the delivery of certain goods!

Gary is trying to recapture the essence of when Christmas number No.1s were songs that talked about Christmas with a little fun. There’s little doubt that The X-Factor winner will probably get No.1 spot again this year but there’s always room for another contender! Quinn hopes ‘Festive Moonshine’ can stand the test of time just like Wizzard’s ‘I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday’, Slade’s ‘Merry Christmas’ and Dr. Elmo’s ‘Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer’.

This is the season to be jolly and have some fun so do not miss out, this will definitely put a smile on your face and on those of your nearest and dearest no matter their age.

Festive Moonshine’ will be available for download on iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby as well as other download sites from the 17th November 2012. Physical copies can also be purchased by getting in touch directly with Gary Quinn Music via www.facebook.com/GaryQuinnMusic .

You could put it on your wish list for the ‘Big Man’ to leave under the tree for you…but I wouldn’t bet on him being in a fit state to do so! Probably be best to download once available.

DJ’s:

If you require a physical copy of ‘Festive Moonshine’ please e-mail me with your Radio Station, Name and Address.

Many thanks!

Lucas left his home in Nebraska, almost ten years ago, to follow his dream of making it big, in Nashville. He worked construction, til he got a call from Warner Brothers, that they wanted to use one of his songs, “If I Only Could” on one of their hit shows. Shortly after, he had a song he wrote for Lipton Tea on the HBO TV series .With this he recorded two country albums and a Christian EP.

Lucas has starred as himself and written the theme song for Animal Planet TV show, “Last Chance Highway”,(which is also added to the mix on this CD) where Lucas is very involved with fostering kittens and dogs in the Nashville area

This self-titled well produced CD release of Hoge, has along with his strong voice, some up tempo songs and some ballads, which he really does a great job on. There is a strong Christian gospel song” I’ll See You There”, added to the mix. The last song on the album which is a mid temp melody, is “Medal of Honor”, shows his heart for the American soldiers.

This CD has 16 tracks, a lot for a CD, but then again it gives you more great music of Lucas Hoge, to listen to and enjoy! You can buy this CD, off Amazon and ITunes and CD Baby.
