Lisa Matassa's Somebody's Baby

AOL's The Boot Premieres Lisa Matassa's "Somebody's Baby" Video Today

Lisa M pub blue shot  Single Debuts on New & Active Billboard/BDS Indicator Chart

Nashville, TN (October 30, 2012) -- Lisa Matassa's dynamic and visually-enticing new video, "Somebody's Baby," premieres on AOL's The Boot today, as the single debuts on the New & Active Billboard/BDS Indicator Chart.  Hotshot Traci Goudie (Hunter Hayes, Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin) directed the video, which perfectly reflects Matassa's artistry.  Lisa's soulful, powerhouse vocals reign supreme; the track is high-energy and bright.  Captured on a Watertown, TN farm, the scenes vary from crisp and clean to soft and subdued.  Interspersed archival family footage shows Matassa from childhood through marriage to motherhood, and the legitimacy these images create is undeniable.  Fans can enjoy the video and feel the excitement surrounding Lisa's newest release by clicking here.

"It's a song about connections," Lisa states. "It immediately resonated with me. As a mom of two teenagers who are college-bound, I know that regardless of their age or where they go in life, they will always be my 'babies.'  I hope that when folks hear this song it makes them think of their special 'baby.'"

"Somebody's Baby" was released to radio last month (It Is What It Is Records / Nine North Records), and Lisa's 500,000-plus social media connections are thrilled with the driving new single.  Written by Kelly Archer, Casey Koesel and Justin Weaver, the edgy rocker is the first release from Matassa's upcoming EP of the same name.

With over 2.6 million previous YouTube video views and two #1 videos on CMT.com (including "Me Time"), Lisa is no stranger to Country audiences.  She has opened shows for Dierks Bentley, Leann Rimes, Eric Church, Lee Brice and Ronnie Dunn.

ABOUT LISA
Operatically trained as a child and with a resonantly powerful pop voice, Lisa recorded two Top-10 Dance singles before she was 20.  The songs were hits in the U.S. and abroad, earning her slots on the marquee with acts Taylor Dayne, Brenda K. Starr, TKA and others.  Born on Long Island but raised in South Florida, Lisa loved singing along to records by Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash, and she realized more and more that Country music was her calling.  Capitalizing on today's more Rock-tinged arrangements, Lisa found she could blend the natural heartfelt soul of the genre with her own stylized brand of New York edginess.

Performance Review Mike Chism & the Hollow Point Band

Performance Review Mike Chism & the Hollow Point Band

Golden Light Cantina
Amarillo, TX

Wow, Mike Chism & the Hollow Point Band really knows how to put on a show and get a crowd going! He and his band were phenomenal. They were really energetic, with Mike barely stopping for breath the whole concert! He really wanted to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves and getting into the music. They played a long set featuring most of his singles which went down like a storm with the audience. The finale set of grass roots red dirt music was out of this world, the whole crowd was totally bouncing off the ceiling.

The only negatives for me were that we had to stand the whole time and I couldn't see because we were side on to the stage. I was very grateful for the big charity recognition from the band. Also, I think the average age of the audience was around 28 so at 48 I felt ancient surrounded by a load of kids but still had a blast!

Great sound and a first class performance, Mike Chism is an entertainer and knows how to get the crowd going. Overall, if you are a Mike Chism & the Hollow Point Band fan I would definitely recommend going to see him as despite the negatives above, it was a fantastic show and I would go to see him again. I'd have given 5 stars if he could BBQ as good as me.

Favorite moment: The place was just bouncing!

Opening act(s): We didn't see these as we turned up around 10:30pm.

Pete Kennedy Releases His Debut Music Video for “I Am The One”

Pete Kennedy Releases His Debut Music Video for “I Am The One”

(NASHVILLE, TN) Irish singer-songwriter Pete Kennedy takes to the streets and bars of Nashville’s Lower Broadway in the new music video for his hit single, “I Am The One”. The song comes from Pete’s award-winning album, The Nashville Sessions Volume 1, and the video can be found online here.

The video, directed by Kevin Scott Page, features Kennedy playing at the Whiskey Bent Saloon and walking along Nashville’s legendary Broadway Avenue. Celebrity fashion line, Corello (Miranda Lambert, The Band Perry, Ne-Yo) styled Pete for the shoot with a one-of-a-kind eel skin cuff and fitted logo tee. Pete also contributed footage from his small hometown in Ireland, where the inspiration for “I Am The One” originated. “My father passed tragically when I was a young boy,” said Pete. “This song is my way of encompassing what I would say to my father if he was here now.”

Pete Kennedy is currently on a 3-month tour of the UK, playing 10 shows with the great pop singer/pianist/composer Neil Sedaka, and then switching gears as he opens for Philadelphia soul group, The Stylistics throughout November and December. He is excited to share a stage with these legendary acts as he brings his music to new audiences around the world.

Pete Kennedy is the walking, talking, singing embodiment of how the world sees the people of Ireland—repeatedly bouncing back from tragedy and finding inspiration in music. After a lifetime of working solely to support his family, Pete was finally able to pursue his love of music in 2008. Forging his path by playing local pubs in Germany and the UK, Pete began to make a name for himself in the world of country music. His entrepreneurial style resulted in the formation of his own label, KEMC Records and his first EP. From there, he caught the eye of CMR Nashville’s Lee Williams, who brought Pete to Nashville to play his first show at Cadillac Ranch as a representative of Ireland for the International Artist Showcase prior to the 2011 CMA Awards. He has since released his first album, The Nashville Sessions Volume 1, which has received critical acclaim and was named UK Album of the Year at the 2012 British Country Music Awards.

Niall Toner Onwards and Upwards

Niall Toner, Onwards and Upwards, Now Available on Pinecastle Records
Irish bluegrass songsmith, Niall (Neil) Toner, has released his first U.S. album, Onwards and Upwards, on Pinecastle Records. Growing up in Ireland, a childhood friend of Toner's introduced him to the music of Bill Monroe, and from then on he was hooked on bluegrass music. Through the years he has befriended, and written songs  for bluegrass musicians who have visited Ireland in addition to being Ireland's bluegrass ambassador. He even has his own radio show, Roots Freeway, which is broadcast on Ireland's national radio station, RTE Radio One. With Toner being a lifelong songwriter, Onwards and Upwards is full of stories from his masterful pen. In preparation for the album, Toner wrote or co-wrote each tune on the album. He collaborated with Keith Sewell on four tunes with Sewell also producing the album. The deluxe booklet included with the CD version includes Toner's own accounts of writing each song as well as photographs from the studio sessions.
"We cut nine new songs of mine, including a tribute to the late Earl Scruggs, called 'The Pride and Joy of Shelby', and an instrumental I composed called 'Burren Backstep'. Other new titles include 'Million Dollar Bill', 'Judge and Jury', and 'Bling', and the project was produced by Keith Sewell (Dixie Chicks, Lyle Lovett, Sam Bush, Ricky Skaggs). We also recut 'William Smith Monroe' and 'Tomorrow', which will be included.

Keith also played guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and piano; Ashby Frank played mandolin, Viktor Krauss played upright bass, and Rob Ickes played Dobro and Weissenborn guitar. I sang lead and played mandolin, and Wendy Buckner, Fiaz Farrelly, and Keith sang harmonies. The sessions were engineered by legendary Nashville whizz-kid (and old-time clawhammer player) Jake Burns. Thank you, guys, for all your talent." Niall Toner, The Bluegrass Ireland Blog
Niall Toner recently spent nearly a month touring the Southeastern United States beginning with several performances at the International Bluegrass Music Associations' World of Bluegrass in Nashville, TN. During the tour he interviewed with Jim Lauderdale on WSM radio in Nashville, TN, taped a performance for the "Song of the Mountains" TV show, performed on WDVX's "Blue Plate Special," and performed on WCYB-TV in Bristol, VA. As well as numerous other tour dates in the Southeast.
For months Toner's AirPlay Direct profile occupied the #1 spot on the service's all-time bluegrass album chart and is currently #3.
Niall Toner's composition credits include songs recorded by artists like Bill Wyman (The Rolling Stones), The Nashville Bluegrass Band, Albert Lee, Special Consensus, Keith Sewell, The Swanson Family and more. In 2003 Toner was nominated for a Global Artist Award by the CMA. His composition, “Nuns Island Reel” was included in one of the bestselling video games of all time, "Grand Theft Auto IV." To date, Toner and his Band have recorded and released three CD albums, and they perform their original songs and tunes on a regular basis at Festivals and Venues in Ireland, the UK, Europe and the USA.

New CDs From Marty Robbins and Red Sovine

VINTAGE COUNTRY – DIFFERENT SOUNDS
New CDs From Marty Robbins and Red Sovine

Among the newest releases from Bear Family Records are cds from veteran country music entertainers Marty Robbins and Red Sovine, both presenting styles different from what they’re best remembered. The former, arguably best known for hardcode country and gunfighter ballads, is heard here in a more rocking mood while the latter, the master of the sentimental narration, shows off his country roots.

MARTY ROBBINS  Rocks (Bear Family BCD 17245 AR)
Jeannie and Johnnie; Grown-Up Tears; Ruby Ann; It’s Driving me Crazy; Maybelline; Baby’s Gone; Ain’t Life A Crying Shame; You’ve Been So Busy Baby; Sometimes I’m Tempted; Teenager’s Dad; Long Tall Sally; Respectfully Miss Brooks; Long Gone Lonesome Blues; Pain And Misery; That’s All Right; Tennessee Toddy; I’ll Know You’re Gone (& LEE EMERSON); Knee Deep In The Blues; You Don’t Owe Me A Thing; Mean Mama Blues; Mister Teardrop; Pretty Mama; I Can’t Quit (I’ve Gone Too Far); Baby, I Need You (Like I Need You); Footprints In The Snow; Just Married; Teen-Ager Dream; Stairway Of Love; She Was Only Seventeen (And He Was One Year More)

Of course Marty Robbins, besides being a highly original entertainer, was also a master of many musical moods with his recording taking in pop standards and Hawaiian songs besides a mass of instantly familiar country hits and gunfighter ballads. Back in his early recording days, at a time when rock ‘n’ roll dominated the charts, he also enjoyed several hits in that genre – among them That’s All Right, Maybelline, Tennessee Toddy and Long Tall Sally, though they couldn’t really be described as hardcore rock ‘n’ roll alongside the likes of Elvis, Haley or Holly – rather, more rockabilly.  Randy Fox, who wrote the notes in the accompanying 32 page booklet, opinions that Singing The Blues (this set includes the follow-up, Knee Deep In The Blues) effectively finished Robbins’ career as rockabilly singer and he moved on to wider musical endeavours.  Nevertheless he made further impact in the rockabilly market by writing Sugareee, a song that received several covers and only recorded by Robbins as a live version (and the concluding track in this collection).

In spite of moving on from rockabilly – and breaking through to wider audiences with such as Ruby Ann, Ain’t Life A Crying Shame and a cover of Bill Monroe’s Footprints In The Snow - Marty Robbins still kept the the new, young generation of record buyers in mind with such material as She Was Only Seventeen, Jeanie and Johnny, Just Married and Teenager’s Dad during his early days on Columbia Records. Complimenting the music, this period of this iconic entertainer’s career is covered in the accompanying booklet that also includes photographs and discography.

RED SOVINE  Juke Joint Johnny (Bear Family BCD 17268 AH)
Okey Dokey; When I Get Rich; Sundown Sue; You're Barking Up The Wrong Tree Now; I'm Gonna Lock My Heart (And Throw Away The Key); The Intoxicated Rat (My Little Rat (1); I'll Worry You Out Of My Mind; Billy Goat Boogie; Don't Worry; Till Today; It’d Surprise You; Farewell, So Long, Goodbye; Sixteen Tons; Juke Joint Johnny; I Hope You Don't Care; My Little Rat (2); No Thanks, Bartender; You're Calling Me Sweetheart; Why Baby Why (& WEBB PIERCE); Wild Beating Heart; You Used To Be My Baby; Don't Drop It; How Do You Think I Feel; Down On The Corner Of Love; Poor Man's Riches; Are You Mine; Courtin' Time In Tennessee; Hold Everything (Till I Get Home); Ko Ko Mo (I Love You So); Four Arms; The Cajun Queen

The latest release in Bear Family’s “Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight” series spotlights Red Sovine, an artist probably best-known for his chart-topping narrations Giddyup Go and the CB radio tear-jerker Teddy Bear, both also giving him pop crossover success. But there was much more to this Charleston, West Virginia born artist and the 31 tracks selected here, culled from the MGM and Decca catalogues, reveals him as a genuine hillbilly singer of the grand order. He did briefly make waves in the rockabilly market with Juke Joint Johnny, and the similar styled I Hope You Don’t Care, but these recordings owed much more to country music than mainstream rock ‘n’ roll. Otherwise Sovine kept to straight, hardcore country routes – the kind of music that boasted steel guitar and fiddles. Unfortunately his MGM recordings (which included novelties like The Intoxicated Rat and Billy Goat Boogie) failed to make any impression and he wasn’t until Decca, and a pairing with Goldie Hill on Are You Mine (originally the flipside of Ko Ko Mo) that he made his chart debut, next came a number one as he teamed with Webb Pierce on Why Baby Why.

Presenting a wide range of material that includes covers of Sixteen Tons, Down On The Corner Of Love and You Used To Be My Baby, the selection concludes with the nearest to a narration – the semi-sung The Cajun Queen. Besides being well representative of Red Sovine’s early career (before becoming one of the chief hitmakers on Starday Records), the music is backed up with detailed biography information provided by Randy Fox in the accompanying 45 page booklet, moving from his childhood years and initial struggles to his close friendship with Hank Williams that helped to open up the doorways. There’s also photographs and a discography.

TIM MCGRAW TWO LANES OF FREEDOM

TIM MCGRAW UNVEILS DETAILS FOR HIS FIRST ALBUM RELEASE ON BIG MACHINE RECORDS - TWO LANES OF FREEDOM - OUT FEB. 5, 2013

McGraw To Debut Brand New Single “One Of Those Nights” LIVE On The CMA Awards This Thurs.

Nashville, TN - Oct. 30, 2012 – Country music icon Tim McGraw announced today that his first album on Big Machine Records TWO LANES OF FREEDOM will be released Feb. 5, 2013.  The new single "One Of Those Nights" will make its national television debut on ABC's live broadcast of the 2012 CMA Awards this Thurs. night, as it will simultaneously be delivered to country radio.

"I always go into the studio to make the best record I can possibly make, and this one is no different.  But 'Freedom' is a powerful word," said McGraw.  "To come into a situation where there's some weight lifted, some refreshment going on, you can feel that in the music.  I think you can feel the horses gallop on this record, and where I might go and what I might do when my engines are revving."

For twenty years, McGraw has been providing a powerful connection with his audience. With TWO LANES OF FREEDOM, the singer returns as co-producer with long-time friend Byron Gallimore. The album covers his broadest emotional range yet, with a set of songs that looks forward and back, gets deep and gets loose, and reveals that even the biggest stars can continue to grow with consistency and maturity.

"I feel like we really found some great songs for this record, and 'One Of Those Nights' perfectly sets the tone for the project," explained McGraw.  "It's about reflecting on old times with a sense of nostalgia, but it's also about creating new memories and living in the moment and looking towards the future.  I am doing that in my own life and career now, and I can't wait for my fans to hear the single and album.  It's an unbelievably exciting time for me!"

Fans will have the first chance to preview the upcoming album’s carefree new single “One Of Those Nights” today when McGraw appears on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.  He'll also surprise some unsuspecting fans in Las Vegas and chat with Ellen about the new album (check local listings).

In his record-shattering career, McGraw has sold over 40 million albums, and dominated the charts with 32 No. one singles. Since the release of his debut album in 1993, he has won three GRAMMY’s, 14 ACM Awards, 11 CMA Awards, and 10 AMA’s, while simultaneously maintaining a parallel career as a successful actor in such films as The Blind SideCountry Strong, and Friday Night Lights—as well as hosting Saturday Night Live, a rare honor for a singer in any genre.  McGraw has never been afraid of breaking new ground; over the years, he has collaborated with musicians from Nelly to Tony Bennett to Def Leppard.

The band is scheduled to record a SiriusXM Bluegrass Junction Track by Track with host Kyle Cantrell set to air the first of the year. “As you might expect from musicians of this caliber, this is a superb album.  The song selection is excellent, and vocals and musicianship is top notch.  Don’t miss this one,” said Cantrell.

AMERICAN DRIVE will soon be announcing their 2013 Tour Schedule along with other news, so fans are encouraged to sign up for newsletters at AmericanDriveBand.com where they can also purchase a copy of the new album.  The band also invites fans to also join them on Twitter and Facebook.
