Nashville, TN - (October 22, 2012) – Four-time American Country Awards nominee Jake Owen is making CMT history with his first headlining tour “CMT ON TOUR JAKE OWEN: THE SUMMER NEVER ENDS 2012” reaching the most consecutive sold-out shows for the annual nationwide tour since its inception eleven years ago. The tour, featuring special guests Love and Theft (“Angel Eyes”) and Florida Georgia Line (“Cruise”), kicked off with a bang with sold-out shows in New York, NY (10/10) and Detroit, MI (10/18) and is on deck for the upcoming advance sell-outs in the following major markets; Charlotte, NC (10/26), Chicago, IL (11/29-30), Des Moines, IA (12/1) Minneapolis, MN (12/6), Milwaukee, WI (12/7) and St. Louis, MO (12/8). The tour will wrap in Jake’s hometown of Vero Beach, FL on December 15.
USA Today has referenced “CMT ON TOUR” as the “proving ground for young country acts on the cusp of headliner status” with past acts including Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Sugarland and Keith Urban. With Jake’s dynamic live show and undeniable summer anthems, it’s no surprise that he has already catapulted to headliner status.
Jake’s red-hot single, “The One That Got Away,” is currently climbing the country radio charts and has already landed inside the Top 10. The song is from his chart-topping 2011 album Barefoot Blue Jean Night that has launched back-to-back, multi-week No. 1 hits with the PLATINUM-selling title track and the GOLD-certified “Alone with You.” After playing to packed stadiums this summer on Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw’s blockbuster ‘Brothers of the Sun’ Tour, Jake released his ode to summer, the new Endless Summer EP. Produced by Joey Moi and executive produced by Jake, the EP made an impressive debut at #2 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.
Jake first captured the national spotlight with his hits “Startin’ with Me,” “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You” and “Eight Second Ride.” His revival of “Life in a Northern Town” with Sugarland and Little Big Town in 2008 earned him Grammy and CMA Award nominations. Jake was named 2009’s Top New Male Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music, and earlier this year, Entertainment Weekly’s music issue ranked him among “The 30 Greatest Artists Right Now.”

Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” Tops the Country Airplay Charts for a Second Week!

Underwood’s Back-to-Back No. 1 Airplay Singles Make Her Country’s Only Female Vocalist of 2012 to Achieve Three Weeks at No. 1
Nashville, TN – Carrie Underwood’s chart-topping single, “Blown Away,” continues as country radio’s hottest song, as it claims a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard and Country Aircheck country airplay charts this week. The second single from Underwood’s million-selling Blown Away album, the title track follows the No. 1 success of her album’s debut single, “Good Girl,” earning Underwood a total of three weeks atop the country airplay charts in 2012, more than any other female country artist this year.
The newly Platinum-certified “Blown Away” marks Underwood’s 16th No. 1 single while the song’s dramatic music video also continues to be a runaway fan-favorite, with more than 5 million views to date on VEVO and a run of 10 consecutive weeks atop GAC’s fan-selected Top 20 Country Countdown.
Between dates headlining her third arena tour, “The Blown Away Tour,” she’ll return to Nashville to join Brad Paisley to host The 46th Annual CMA Awards, where Carrie is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year. This year’s show will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Thursday, November 1, at 8 PM ET, on ABC.
In addition to her CMA nomination for Female Vocalist, Underwood is also a double-nominee for the upcoming American Music Awards, up for Favorite Female Artist – Country, as well as Favorite Album – Country, for Blown Away. Airing November 18 on ABC, the American Music Awards are fan-voted, with online balloting underway now at .
Blown Away made history this spring by debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart, making Carrie only the second country artist in the 47-year history of the chart to have each of their first four albums debut at No. 1. Blown Away also debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, making Carrie only the second country artist in history to have three consecutive albums debut at No. 1. Blown Away became country’s best-selling digital album debut since 2010. “Good Girl,” her first single from Blown Away, also achieved the No. 1 slot on both Billboard and Country Aircheck’s country airplay charts, was certified Platinum for selling more than 1 million digital downloads, and the video set a new record with 14 weeks at No. 1 on CMT’s Top 20.
Since releasing her debut, Some Hearts, in 2005, Carrie has sold more than 15 million albums with Some Hearts, 2007’s Carnival Ride, and 2009’s Play On making her the best-selling American Idol in the U.S. She’s accumulated 16 No. 1 singles, seven of which she co-wrote, and became the first country artist in history and the only American Idol winner ever to achieve 10 No. 1 singles from their first two albums. She is a five-time Grammy winner, a two-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, a three-time Country Music Association and ACM Female Vocalist winner, and a proud member of the Grand Ole Opry.

Steel Guitar News October 22. 2012

Hello fellow players, I know many of you have been wondering about my medical status. In two words, not good. My mind still works up to a point so I’m glad to be able to tell everybody what’s going on. I have spinal stenosis which has pretty well taken away my ability to walk very well and all of my ability to play. I miss not being able to play steel guitar, however maybe things will get better in the future. Vic Lawson, my right hand man along with able assistance from Bob Hempker, both very able and well known steel players, are taking care of my duties at the store so that I can concentrate on resolving my health issues. I would appreciate it if you would deal with them as if you were dealing with me and allow me the time to reclaim my health. I want to thank everyone of you that have sent me little notes wishing me a speedy recovery. I thank you for understanding that I cannot answer all of these personally. Vic and Bob both have much steel guitar knowledge to impart to you in future newsletters and I hope you’ll look forward to hearing their views as much as you did mine as they will be handling my newsletter duties from now on. I may occasionally write one, but that won’t happen very often. I’m turning the rest of today’s newsletter over to Vic. Well with that being said, hopefully that will answer a lot of your questions about Bobbe. Bobbe has been one of my heroes through the years. I’ve learned a lot from him about steel guitars. We’re here to take care of business while Bobbe is healing and we can answer all your questions just like Bobbe can. Many of you already know that I’ve been a professional steel player for twenty-five years and that I’ve worked for Bobbe on and off for the last twelve years. Working for Bobbe has been an ideal situation for me because it allowed me to work the road when it was available and work for Bobbe as a steel guitar technician and repairman in the off time. Not only have I worked here, but I’ve worked alongside Buck Reid, Terry Crisp, Bob Hempker and others who’ve been able to fill in their off time working here. It’s really a unique shop and no other place like it exists. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the best blankety-blank little steel guitar shop in the world. Bobbe has done a lot for the steel community and I’m glad he has the confidence in me to deal with the day to day operation of all aspects of the business. As always, I will do my best to stock the best guitars in the best condition and offer the best service. While I’m talking about the best guitars in the best condition, I don’t know if all of you know what a guitar goes through before it goes on our floor. Usually I’ll start by cutting the strings off immediately and thoroughly clean and lube the guitar. I put a new set of strings on it. Then I start doing adjustments and make sure the guitar is doing what it’s supposed to do. I replace any parts that show wear and aren’t up to par. I set the guitar up to standard Emmons setup per Bobbe’s specifications. If you buy one of our guitars, we set it up according to your specifications if you want anything different. After playing it ourselves for an hour or so to make sure everything’s as perfect as can be, then it goes on the floor. As a technician, I pride myself on doing the best job possible and won’t let any guitar go out the door in substandard condition. When you buy from us, you know the guitar is right. I would also like to mention that if you buy a guitar privately or on eBay, you can send the guitar to us and we will go through it thoroughly and put it in the best possible condition so you can enjoy your guitar for years to come. For any of you in the Las Vegas area, I’ll be playing at the Silverton Casino for the PBR after-party at 10:30 Friday night. Stop by and say hi if you can. Check out our monthly specials at Steel Guitar Nashville 123 Mid Town Court Hendersonville, TN. 37075 (615) 822-5555 Open 9AM – 4PM Monday – Friday Closed Saturday and Sunday

Eileen Carey

Eileen Carey Interview On "The Linda Salvin Show" - Monday, Oct. 22/4-7 pm
                                       (Heard Over KCAA 1050 AM)

"Love her vocals!" - Dave Stewart (Eurythmics)
Eileen in her new song!" - Isabel Blanco, 1067 KJUG Country
"Great country-type spin Eileen put on that song...putting in rotation!" Songwriters Webcast
"Eileen did a GREAT job with the track..really sounds amazing!" - Annette Conlon, NetteRadio
"Great song, could be a hit line dance" - Kerris Milligan, Kamikaze Cowgirl
"Powerful vocals on Eileen Carey's "Don't Get Me Wrong" - Deb Andersen, The Wimmins Show

Rave reviews continue to pour in for the hot new single "Don't Get Me Wrong" by award-winning Pop-Country recording artist, Eileen Carey. The song is a catchy, uptempo remake of the 1986 Pretenders hit of the same name, to be included on Carey's upcoming full-length LP, "Let It Go," scheduled for a mid-November 2012 release date. Twitter and Reverbnation have been abuzz with praise for "Don't Get Me Wrong," which can be heard and purchased here:
Eileen On The Air: Carey discusses her new forthcoming album and much more during a lively interview on the Linda Salvin ShowMonday, October 22, between 4-7 p.m. (listen live in the Los Angeles area at KCAA Radio 1050 AM; online at catch eileen interviewed and performing live Thursday, November 15 at 10 a.m. on Hollywood's popular Actors EChatshow.
Carey's catchy blend of Country, Pop, and Rock has gained her a loyal following through the years, along the way earning her accolades such as "Dance Artist of the Year" (2010 Los Angeles Music Awards) and 2009 LAMA "Americana Artist of the Year." Eileen was recently selected as an Artist Ambassador by national hair salon chain Supercuts as part of their "Rock The Cut" campaign, resulting in a huge spike in her visibility due in part to Supercut's vast worldwide Social Media Network.

Eileen Giving Back: With little or no fanfare, The Southern California-based Carey continues to be passionately involved in numerous charitable causes, and started The Music Mom website as a networking/support site for mothers making music. Carey's most recent album, "Movin' On," received worldwide acclaim from reviewers (see below).

What The Press Is Saying About Eileen Carey And Her CD "Movin' On:
"Eileen Carey's voice is a droplet of honey dangling from a hive: glistening, all natural, andinviting...but don't be fooled by the coating because the woman beneath is strong, confident, and just a little bit sassy! Lyrically Carey is smart, to the point, and colorful. Potent lines such as 'Your lips have lost their poetry' from the title track deliver her message with absolute focused precision and flair. Eileen has something to say and she says it dynamically. An upbeat, empowering twirling dance that relishes life in the moment and celebrates the wonder, joy and excitement of what comes next."

"The bold 'Do I Dare' is yet one more example of Carey's versatile talents as a performer...Critic's Choice here is 'Out With The Girls' - while we've already heard Dolly Parton do this kind of thing decades ago with '9 To 5,' Carey somehow still makes it work with her own personal tuneful twist."

"Upbeat, easy on the ears, blue skies and country sunshine - that's the sounds of Eileen Carey!! I must admit - although I'm from Texas - I somewhat tend to favor rock and pop music over country music. But I also must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed listening to several of Eileen Carey's songs when I received them. They got my attention and kept my attention throughout each of the songs. The bright acoustics, clever lyrics and crystal clear sounds of Eileen Carey may just be the type of country music I could really become a  BIG fan of. Send me more Eileen!!"

Carroll, Iowa....."One of our last 'concerts' for the year was at Carroll, Iowa, for the Carroll County Historical Society," Bob Everhart, the 12-string guitarist for the Smithsonian duo Bob & Sheila, said.  "We sure had a nice crowd in a very nice theater we didn't even know existed in Carroll.  The program was sponsored by the Historical Society to help raise money for their 'little red schoolhouse' which sits in Drake Park there.  Apparently it has been at this location for a very long time, and a golf course has grown up around it.  Now, there is occasionally a broken window, or a splatter on one of the side boards from a stray golf ball.  So, they asked us to do our Smithsonian "Traveling Museum of Music,' for them, and they had a very nice audience for it.  It was especially moving to receive a very sincere standing ovation, repeatedly, when we finished.  I think they really liked hearing some of those old songs they haven't heard since they were children.  It always makes Bobbie Lhea happy because she takes care of the CD table, and we pay her part of the proceeds for doing that.  She sold a lot of CD's and that gave her some extra spending money as she travels to Missouri to visit her grandmother Virginia (that would be Sheila's mom).  I will also leave the budget lunch to Bobbie Lhea, I'm sure she will want to tell you about it."
"Bob went to the hospital for a colonoscopy," Sheila said, "and he's OK.  They took out five polyps, and told him to come back in five years, he was fine.  That set my heart at ease, and now I'm getting ready for two big occasions. First we have the Dale Eichor and Bobby Awe concert at the Oak Tree Performance Center in Anita on Friday, October 26th, start time 7pm.  I probably shouldn't talk about it very much, it's completely sold out.  That means extra hot dogs and polish sausages for the intermission, and I'll be all ready for that, as well as an astonishingly good music program.  We are so fortunate to be able to present talent like this, it's one of those 'let's go somewhere interesting this weekend' kind of shows, and it's the last one of our season.  We've never been able to afford the installation of a furnace in our old building, so we just shut it down for the winter.  We'll be all set for next spring though, April 19-20-21 for SpringFest, a great early-bird opportunity to get out and see some great talent.  I've also been getting the RV ready to go to Florida, it takes a lot of work, and I have to remember not to forget something that we'll need down the road.  We have a concert in Illinois on November 5th, and we're looking forward to that first one on the road."
"It was definitely a 'budget lunch," Bobbie Lhea added.  "The folks at the Carroll County Historical Society invited mom, dad, and me out to dinner after the concert.  Dad said he had never heard of the Santa Maria Winery and Restaurante in Carroll, but there it was, and it was absolutely super.  It was once a car dealership building, but what they converted it into is absolutely amazing.  It's a beautiful Italian restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious. I wasn't bashful, I ordered 'smothered chicken dinner' which was with mushrooms and green onions. Ummmm good. Mom had 'Scilian chicken' also with fresh mushrooms in lemon garlic butter, and dad had 'petite cut prime rib.'  He said it was really good with roasted potatoes and grilled vegetables.  We hadn't any idea there was such a regal restaurant as this, just an hours drive north of us.  I'm pretty sure dad will want to go there again, even if he does have to pay for it.  Now I have to crack the books, we're getting ready to go to Florida."

Rascal Flatts Ticket Sales Soar to Over 7 Million

Friday evening in Nashville before a sold-out crowd of over 13,000 in Nashville’s Bridgestone arena, Brian O’Connell, President, Live Nation Country Touring presented a commemorative ticket to the members of Rascal Flatts to celebrate a touring milestone. This streak started in 2004 when the band began headlining their own tours, which culminated in tonight’s milestone achievement. Rascal Flatts ticket sales have reached a new high tallying over 7 million tickets sold! This achievement ranks the band as one of the top selling country music acts during this period.
As announced last week, the winter leg of their Farmers Insurance Presents “Changed Tour” will launch January 10, 2013 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Band Perry will open.
