Interview with Simon Andersson

Interview with Simon Andersson

Lamitschka:  Music has many new fans throughout Europe who may be hearing about you for the first time. How would you describe yourself and the music you play to someone who has never seen or heard you?

Andersson:  It’s so much up to the listener, but I would call my music popular country music. I’ve always listen to many different music styles, and I guess you can hear that in my own writing. The key is to use country style instruments. Mainly because I love the way they sound, but also to keep within the genre. I make my music the way I think it should sound. If people like it, I’m very honored and grateful, but I don’t worry about what label one wants to put on my music. It’s all about enjoying it!

Lamitschka:  How was the last year for you? What were your highlights?

Andersson:  Last year, and a few before that, has been a real struggle. Trying to complete the album A Brand New Day, with limited resources, and a full-time day job too, is more than a mouth full for sure. I decided that a change was needed when I had to spend a night at the hospital, for being stressed out. I later quit my day job, 'cause there’s no way I’m giving up my music career. The highlight last year was without a doubt my nomination in the Hollywood Music in Media Awards, and everything that has given me so far. It was so much fun making that trip!

Lamitschka:  What is your latest CD and how's it doing?

Andersson:  It’s called A Brand New Day, and I guess I have to say it’s doing alright, ha ha! It’s not been officially released yet and I’ve already been in Hollywood, received management, valuable contacts and a lot of new fans!

Lamitschka:  How did you choose the title for the CD?  Is there a story behind the name?

Andersson:  The title of the album comes from the song with the same name. I thought it was a suitable name an album, and it is representative for what the album means to me.

Lamitschka:  Do you write the songs yourself? If not, how do you go about finding the songs for your CD?

Andersson:  Yes, I’ve written everything myself. Lyrics and music. Not that I wouldn’t co-write with anyone, it was just that I had a bunch of great songs ready. At least I think they’re great! Ha ha!

Lamitschka:  Please tell us about the songs on your album (influences, etc).

Andersson:  Oh, they have been written over such a long time. One of the oldest ones ist he song Crazy, which was the nominated song in Hollywood. I wrote that maybe eight years ago or so. A bunch of the songs, at least the lyrics, came to when I had a hard time back in 2009. I was devastated with a broken heart for months, loosing the love of someone that meant really much to me. That’s just life, but it sure hurts, when you experience it. Another song worth mentioning is Trouble On Your Mind, which was written for a project supporting the homeless people of where I live.

Lamitschka:  Your current single is being played by radio. What do you feel is special about this song that makes people want to hear it?

Andersson:  It’s a simple song. By the second chorus you can sing-a-long, even the first time you hear it. Not every song should be like that I think, then it gets boring and too obvious. But for a single it’s a great ingredient.

Lamitschka:  What will your next single be?

Andersson:  Another song from the album. You’ll have to wait and see! Ha ha!

Lamitschka:  What kind of songs do you like to record the most?

Andersson:  Wow, that’s a tough one... I like to record different songs, for different reasons. Doing that keeps you on the edge, keeps it interesting. Very important in the recording process. You have to love what you’re doing when you record! Otherwise people can tell that it’s not genuine. And you can tell yourself too... The hardest ones are the songs that demands the most feeling and sincerity.

Lamitschka:  How much creative control do you have over your music?

Andersson:  I’m very lucky with this album to have been able to control it all from the start to finish. Of course I’ve had other people around me with ideas, and I always listen to what they have to say. But I’ve been the one with the final decision.

Lamitschka:  There's a lot of work that goes into a number one hit. What did it take to make it in your case?

Andersson:  The song wrote itself. I didn’t make it up. But to make a number one hit, you’re going to need a lot of people helping you, that has nothing to do with the music itself. A good song doesn’t make it just because it’s a good song. Unfortunately a not so great song can make it all the way, being pushed by the right people. But that’s just the way it goes.

Lamitschka:  What's unique about you that will differentiate you from other artists?

Andersson:  I dont’t walk around seeing myself as something special, I really don’t. People tell me I have a great voice, and I’m blessed with the gift of music. But it takes hard work, more than you’d think, to make it. First on your instruments, but then later on so many things that has nothing to do with music. The industry is SO competitive today it’s unbelievable, and you really have to hang in there, and have patience to make it. Musically, there’s thousands and thousands of hours of practise to become what I am today. You know what they say, practise makes perfect. So there’s a long way to go yet! Ha ha!

Lamitschka:  Tell us about the fan club and how people can join it.

Andersson:  The fans find everything they need on my website, www.simonandersson.net. From there they can check out my artist page on facebook, the YouTube channel, sign up for new letters and so on. They can also order my CD and get it sent home to their mailbox, or download it on iTunes. More and more people buy their music, in different ways, and by doing so they support the making of new music. It keeps the wheel go round. I have the biggest gratitude towards my fans!

Lamitschka:  What message would you like to send your European fans?

Andersson:  Help spread my music to your friends and families and ask for it on your local or national radio station. It helps so much, just people talking. I sure hope to come and play at a venue near you soon, and I have to say, I appreciate all your support so much! Much more than I can explain...

Corey Wagar Hits the Top of the Charts

Country Music’s Latest Rockin’ Phenomenon Corey Wagar Hits the Top of the Charts with Her Honeysuckle Hit Take Ya Back

Corey Wagar’s Take Ya Back has ignited a swift climb up the charts and with a voice like that, there’s no way to extinguish her impact with her listeners.

This sweet and sassy single has been making its way to the top of the Music Row CountryBreakout chart each week and “I am so excited to announce that this song just hit #1 on the Renegade Radio Nashville/Nashville.com Hot 40 Countdown,” says this young fiery country gal. “I am so overwhelmed and thankful for everyone playing my song and for the fans who are requesting it. You guys are the best!”

Showing off her mesmerizing vocals, Take Ya Back was penned by Corey and successful songwriters Beau Fuller and CeCe DuBois and showcases her true dedication to country music with the inclusion of fiddles and a steel guitar. Staying true to her ‘Jersey meets Nashville’ sound, this song is no exception with the vibrant energy it embodies. Rave reviews are spilling out of critics and fans, as they compliment Corey for crafting an energetic sound with electric vocals and clever creativity.

Take Ya Back is high energy and an up tempo song that puts me in a good mood…every time. I loved it the moment I first heard it…it’s a song that jumps out at you the moment you hear it. It really evokes strong, sentimental memories for anyone who loves music, country, rock, pop, whatever!"  - Neil Wieland, Program Director, KAIR-FM in Atchison, KS
------------------
Take Ya Back is the best single yet for Corey.  This is a song that should go national and be on the same level of Taylor Swift!” - Ted Cramer, Program Director at WIFE-FM in Connersville, IN
--------------------
“Corey manages to combine a good-time retro revival groove with the unmistakable feel of fresh new country. You can't help but feel how much fun Corey is having when she bounces through Take Ya Back!” -  Rob Grayson, Program Director at WKBQ-FM in Memphis, TN
--------------------
“We were one of the first stations to jump on this new song. It blows you away with her attitude and storytelling ability. We are a believer in Corey and her music. She is a star, a sweetheart and a class act.” -  Paul Ciliberto, General Manager, WDNB in Liberty, NY
--------------------
Take Ya Back is way good…it’s Wagar good!” - Jim Kay, Program Director and Music Director, KVVP-FM in Leesville, LA
--------------------
“Our listeners love her music. She has such a strong voice and a bubbly personality that comes through in this song. It’s the best single so far from her!” - Steve Shettler, Music Director, KBOE-FM in Oskaloosa, IA

With her commanding vocals, infectious spirit and passionate songwriting, Corey has teamed up with some of country music’s best-known songwriters. Continuously participating in radio interviews, opening for artists including Dierks Bentley, The Charlie Daniels Band and LeAnn Rimes as well as participating in this year’s CMA Music Festival  are just a few of the highlights 2012 has brought for Corey.  Her previous hit, I Hate My Boyfriend was a fiery girl-power anthem that reached #32 on the MusicRow charts. With her career accelerating rapidly at every turn, she made her way to Hollywood this past season of American Idol and with a rapidly growing fan base, killer talent, and crowd-stopping vocal ability, country music’s latest spitfire is bound to have wildfire success. CRAIG CAMPBELL RETURNS FROM SUCCESSFUL EUROPEAN DEBUT

CRAIG CAMPBELL RETURNS FROM SUCCESSFUL
EUROPEAN DEBUT

TWEET: Yeah! Yeah! @CraigCampbellTV had a great time overseas.  Check out his behind the scenes video about the trip http://bit.ly/PpfgzP ! #OuttaMyHead

Nashville, TN...(September 28, 2012)...Craig Campbell just returned from a successful European debut, as his addictive new single “Outta My Head” continues to impact country radio.   The neo-traditionalist singer was overwhelmingly received by more than 5,000 fans over the two day Gstaad Festival in Switzerland and earned a standing ovation from the crowd when he performed new music from his upcoming sophomore album. While Campbell has previously toured in Australia, this trip marked Craig’s first-ever performance in Europe, where he joined Martina McBride for the popular festival in the Swiss Alps. Check out a recap of his trip on this week’s Craig Cam HERE.

“Outta My Head” is a high-octane up-tempo track with an evocative lyric that describes the struggle of lost love. Produced by Keith Stegall (Alan Jackson, Zac Brown Band) and Matt Rovey and written by Brandon Kinney, Michael Carter, and Cole Swindell, the mesmerizing track showcases Campbell’s rich, warm baritone and expansive range.

ABOUT CRAIG CAMPBELL: After moving from his hometown of Lyons, Georgia to Nashville in 2002 to pursue his country music dreams, American Country Awards nominee Craig Campbell quickly picked up work as a keyboardist in Luke Bryan and Tracy Byrd’s bands and was later discovered playing a regular gig at legendary Nashville honky-tonk, The Stage. The singer-songwriter has earned well-deserved praise from the country’s toughest critics for his self-titled debut album, which released in April of 2011. Campbell’s autobiographical lead single, “Family Man” was a top 15 hit followed by “Fish” which has sold a quarter of a million downloads. His current smash “Outta My Head” is the lead single from his sophomore album, set to release early next year.
