LiveWire Challenges Status Quo

LiveWire Challenges Status Quo
With New CD LIVIN'

October 30 Disc Puts Southern Country Rockers In Mix With Today's Best

"This is the third time I have raved about this band. Who are these guys? Where is the album?" - Robert K. Oermann, MusicRow

Nashville, TN (September 10, 2012) -- To answer that question, LiveWire's much-anticipated debut Way Out West Records' release, LIVIN', issues October 30.  The 10-track CD, produced by Justin Woods, challenges the status quo with music that puts the band right in the mix with the best of today's artists.  A six-piece group based in Joplin, Missouri, LiveWire features lead vocalist Andy Eutsler, lead guitarist Bobby DeGonia, drummer Adam Hagerman, fiddle player Cory Shultz, rhythm guitarist Danny Bell and bassist Landon Rolfe.

From the first note of the disc's opening track, "Don't Nothin' Take My Breath," it's evident that LiveWire is a serious contender in today's market. Co-written by MusicRow's 2012 Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year, Johnny Bulford, Country star Chris Young and Jay Brunswick, the track radiates power.  Slamming drums and a brooding B-3 back the punch of Eutsler's lead vocals.  It's a musical "moment" that proclaims this band's talent and validates its success as 2009 Colgate Country Showdown Regional Finalists.

Brimming with a Southern Rock vibe, excitement and enormous energy interplay equally with tender moments throughout this breakout disc.  Strong lead vocals and soaring harmonies shine, while each band member brings flawless musical execution, adding their own signature flair to the project.

The group's current single, "Lies" (released to Country radio August 29), was written by Eutsler and has been a fan favorite in live concerts since the group first started performing it several years ago.  A hard-driving up-tempo with a deceptively tender lyric, "Lies" showcases Eutsler's versatility, while DeGonia's lead guitar punctuates and soars.  MusicRow's popular tastemaker Oermann notes, "The single has it all: a dynamite rhythm, pristine production values, a lead vocal packed with energy and personality, a song with serious chops and instrumental work that soars."  Matt Bjorke of Roughstock adds, "LiveWire may just become another strong Country radio staple."

The disc slows with the memorable "Livin'."  A passionate vocal tells the tale of life and love from the wild days of youth to the more settled times of parenthood and steady jobs.  Eutsler's performance is imminently believable - as it should be - since he penned this number as well.

Family love and history of a different sort continue as the theme with the moving, "What Makes You A Man," written by the group's other principal songwriter, rhythm guitarist and background vocalist, Bell, about the loss of his father.  The moving song carries the listener from the days of the Vietnam War through to the present.  LiveWire seems perfectly at home throughout this tale of sweetness and sorrow - and the gifts of fathers and faith.

"Better" offers drummer Hagerman a chance to use his sticks to great dramatic effect and gives Eutsler another chance to showcase his ability to pour forth emotion.  Co-written by hit maker Bulford and Madeleine Slate, this power ballad rips bare the bittersweet conflict that comes with comparing one love to another.  The feelings of loss, longing and guilt weep throughout, and once again LiveWire's lead vocalist shines through the pain.

Channeling Southern Rock greatness (think Lynyrd Skynyrd or CDB), the group ups the ante with the darkly-challenging "I'll Go To Prison."  Shultz's fiddle and Rolfe's bass both interplay dramatically throughout this edgy track, which leaves nothing to the imagination.  Chuck Dauphin (Music News Nashville) says, "There are a lot of bad-ass wannabes out there, but LiveWire isn't making a statement.  They're just standing up for what's right."

For LiveWire, LIVIN' is all the statement they want to make.  Founding member DeGonia best sums up the mood of the band at this important career milestone: "I can honestly say that it has been a rough road for LiveWire, but our hard work and perseverance is finally paying off.  I am very proud of what we've become and believe that this album truly shows who we are - and will take us to the next level."

ABOUT LiveWire
Since forming in the mid-'90s, LiveWire has forged a reputation as one of the top-draw live acts in the Midwest by regularly packing venues in the band's home base of Missouri and in the surrounding states of Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas.  Along the way this homegrown talent has taken the members across America opening for Country superstars including Toby Keith, LeAnn Rimes, Montgomery Gentry, Diamond Rio and Kix Brooks.  LiveWire released a self-titled EP in 2011 which included the group's debut radio single, "Tater Fed," a stirring backwoods rocker that quickly became the band's anthem.  Since then, LiveWire's music has found success at Country radio, both in the U.S. and in Europe, and its videos have received airplay on CMT Pure, The Country Network, Yallwire and others.

Events will Feature Two Guest bands from Ireland
During World of Bluegrass Week in Music City

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (September 10, 2012) – No strangers to the Nashville music scene, Mark Newton and Steve Thomas will be stopping in to the Swingin’ Door Saloon for two nights of music that will bookend the International Bluegrass Music Association World of Bluegrass Week in downtown Nashville.  Their full band will perform at the Swingin’ Door Saloon, well known in Nashville as a place for great live music from veterans and up and coming bands, on September 24th and October 1st. The two nights of music will also feature the music of two groups that are on tour from the Dublin, Ireland area.  I Draw Slow and Niall Toner will add an international flavor to the sounds of the evening.

Newton is well known for his contributions to the field of bluegrass and acoustic music as an artist, producer, writer, and vocalist.  Thomas, a highly regarded writer and producer, has been involved with various forms of acoustic music for over 30 years including recording with artists to include Brooks and Dunn, The Whites, Barbara Mandrell, and The Osborne Brothers to name a few. Thomas and Newton have performed in a variety of bands over the years and have contributed much to the world of acoustic music. The shows are always filled with a wide variety of music, covering country, bluegrass, roots, folk, and Americana. The shows cover a wide genre that will appeal to listening audiences of all types.

"We are excited to performing at Swingin’ Door Saloon." said Newton.  "We are even more excited to share the stage with our musical friends from Ireland. We will also have the opportunity to see our fans from the World of Bluegrass week. It will be two great nights of music and feature a wide range of sounds."

I Draw Slow is a five-piece outfit comprising vocals, guitar, fiddle, banjo and double bass. Holden siblings Dave (guitar) and Louise (vocals) have been writing together for two decades. In 2008 the pair teamed up with Violinist Adrian Hart, Claw hammer banjo player Colin Derham, Double bassist Konrad Liddy to form I Draw Slow. Their sound has been described as Alt-country, folk, roots, old-time, Americana, and bluegrass.  The five have created their own sound, rooted in the old time style of the Appalachian Mountains, drawing on Irish traditional music and modern Americana. However, this band offers a whole new songbook of stories and melodies. These are dark tales of debauchery and trouble swinging from the kind of well-crafted melodies that survive.  Due in large part to the success of their YouTube video hit with Goldmine the band has become a popular in the USA without the benefit of ever touring the country. Their impact abroad is redrawing the map for Irish/Americana songwriters. They have been described in the United Kingdom press as “American top league equivalents” destined “to blow the opposition away”, drawing favorable comparisons with Gillian Welch and Alison Krauss

Niall Toner Band is an Irish roots country/bluegrass artist from the Blackstairs Mountain region of Ireland. Toner performs a set of all-original songs and instrumentals, and his unique sound is a rich blend of Traditional Acoustic Country Music and Bluegrass, with a distinctive Celtic twist. Toner has performed live on a regular basis at Festivals, Venues and Arts Centers in Ireland, the United Kingdom and, Europe. He has also toured previously in the USA to incredible acclaim. Niall Toner is widely regarded as one of Ireland's leading experts on Bluegrass and American Country Music and Niall's songs have been recorded by many artistes, including Bill Wyman [ Rolling Stones ], The Nashville Bluegrass Band, Albert Lee, Special Consensus, Keith Sewell, The Swanson Family, The Fleadh Cowboys, and more.

The show at The Swingin’ Door Saloon Nashville, Tennessee will kick off at 6pm. There is a no cover charge for the show. For additional details on the venue visit

Steel Guitar News September 10. 2012

Hello fellow players, Welcome to Steel Guitar Month. September is the designated month for steel guitar and those that love it. It’s a big time for shows, sales and steel guitar work in general. To honor this month, we are going to be doing some very serious discounting. For those of you that have been waiting for this particular month, I am going over the price of each individual guitar and discounting it to the max that I can. We will also be looking for other products that we can discount as well, like amps and effects. A little earlier this week, I received a phone call from country music vocalist and legend Stan Hitchcock. His office is about five blocks away from Steel Guitar Nashville. He asked me to come over to see him at the Blue Highways office, which I gladly did. Stan is one of Nashville’s most appreciated country music singers. As smooth a singer as Jack Daniels Black Label with twice the sense of humor and love for a great country song. He has a show now which is running on the Branson RFD cable TV channel called Heart to Heart. He also has a company called Blue Highways that produces country music shows. We sat there for about half a day reviewing shows that we had done together from the past. Some of the stars I had totally forgotten how well they sang, like Narvell Felts, David Rogers and many others. Stan is planning a new show using a lot of this great prerecorded material and I figure we may be recording some new ones soon. Stan is one of those stars that truly loves steel guitar and loves to feature us. The six piece band that was created for the original shows from Branson musicians was very, very good and I remember most of the musicians went on to great jobs after the show was disbanded. Gary Myers, the guitar player went to work with Mickey Gilley and Bobby Burkhead on drums went to work with George Jones and has been with him for many, many years. The fact that Stan is such a good guy and thinks so much of his musicians pretty well guarantees that there will be a lot of instrumental things happening on the new shows. If you’d like to see what Stan has done and is doing you can check out his website at … Why not give Stan a hello and let him know you’re interested in seeing this type of music. Check out our monthly specials at and we’ll try to save you a lot of money. Your buddy, Bobbe Steel Guitar Nashville 123 Mid Town Court Hendersonville, TN. 37075 (615) 822-5555 Open 9AM – 4PM Monday – Friday Closed Saturday and Sunday

Trio Receives CMA Nominations for “Album of the Year” and “Vocal Group of the Year”
Nashville, TN – Sept. 10, 2012 – Reigning CMA and ACM Vocal Group of the Year Lady Antebellum prepares for the changing seasons with the announcement of a Christmas album ON THIS WINTER’S NIGHT, available in stores on Oct. 22.
“I love the excitement, the child-like spirit of innocence and just about everything that goes along with Christmas,” said Hillary Scott. “My little sister will be 12 this Christmas and it is always so sweet to see her wake up every Christmas morning and wonder what Santa brought her. It was that way for me growing up and it’s so amazing to be able to spend that time with her now.”
“The perfect winter's night for me would be with all the family together,” added Charles Kelley.  “As you get a little older and everybody has their jobs and then families and kids, it definitely becomes harder to get everybody together at once. It would be pretty special to have the whole family in the room and get back to where we were as kids…all waking up on Christmas morning, walking down and having that tradition.”
“We recorded this album in two sections, but both times were in the summertime,” noted Dave Haywood. “It is always weird to be in the studio working on Christmas music in June and July, so we decorated the entire studio, we really did. We brought out lights, fake trees and decorated the place to get in the Christmas spirit. You'd leave the studio, and it'd be 100 degrees out in Nashville, but nonetheless, a great experience.“
Between legs of their OWN THE NIGHT 2012 WORLD TOUR earlier this year, Lady A hit the studio in Nashville to record the new collection where they also return as co-producers alongside veteran producer Paul Worley. For the festive release, the trio penned the album’s title track and created their own arrangements for two of the disc’s additional 11 holiday classics.
1. A Holly Jolly Christmas
2. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
3. All I Want For Christmas Is You
4. I’ll Be Home For Christmas
5. This Christmas
6. The First Noel*
7. On This Winter’s Night
8. Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow
9. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
10. Silent Night (Lord Of My Life)*
11. Blue Christmas
12. Silver Bells
*Arranged by Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott
The Christmas album follows their Platinum third disc Own The Night, which debuted at the No. 1 position on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and has spawned two No. 1 hits “We Owned The Night” and “Just A Kiss,” tallying six career chart-topping hits. After selling 10 million albums across the globe, the six-time CMA Award winning group received two nominations last week for Album of the Year for OWN THE NIGHT and Vocal Group of the Year for the upcoming 46th Annual CMA Awards scheduled to air Nov.1 on ABC.
Lady A is currently in the studio in the beginning stages of recording new music while also preparing for the final leg of their OWN THE NIGHT 2012 WORLD TOUR. The tour will come to a close in Oct. in Australia and has already wrapped legs in the US, Canada and Europe. For a full list of upcoming tour dates and for more info on new music, visit

Willie Nelson, Writes Forward to Nashville based Artist, Corey Frizzell’s Up-Coming Book

Country Music Icon, Willie Nelson, Writes Forward to
Nashville based Artist, Corey Frizzell’s Up-Coming Book

Nashville, TN – Country Music Legend Willie Nelson, even at 79 may be one of the busiest guys in the music industry, but he still found the time to write the forward to Nashville based writer and artist, Corey Frizzell’s, new up-coming book “Nashville’s Honky Tonk History,” which will be part of Arcadia Publishing’s Images of America series.

Frizzell inked a publishing deal with leading national publisher, Arcadia Publishing, to author a new book on Nashville’s Honky Tonk History, in June of 2012, a subject close to Frizzell’s heart being of the Lefty Frizzell lineage. The book has a proposed release date of June, during CMA of 2013.

Established in 1993 and based out of Mount Pleasant, SC, Arcadia Publishing is the leading publisher in the United States for local history, with a catalog of more than 8,000 titles in print and hundreds of new titles released every year.

Nelson, like countless others, had been influenced by Corey’s uncle, the late Lefty Frizzell. “To Lefty From Willie” is a tribute album to Lefty Frizzell recorded in 1977 by Nelson. The album features some of the biggest hits by Frizell like "I Never Go Around Mirrors" and "That's the Way Love Goes.”

“I couldn’t be more excited about having a living legend like Willie Nelson write the forward to my book on Nashville Honky Tonks. There is no one else better to have done it than Willie with all his Honky Tonk history here in Nashville. As a lot of people know I am also an artist and I had the honor of creating a portrait personally for Willie back in 2006 but having him do this for me is the icing on the cake.” – Corey Frizzell

The Frizzell family, most famous for its prominence on the Country Music Charts, is now witnessing the artistic successes of the second generation. Although he has siblings following in the Frizzell music footsteps, who have accepted the challenge of emerging from the giant shadow first cast by the family music patriarch, Lefty Frizzell, Corey chose a different path, a path to create his own shadow.

Corey falls somewhere in the middle of the six children spanning four decades of Allen Frizzell, former Nashville recording artist and younger brother of the Legendary Lefty Frizzell and Country Star, David Frizzell.

Frizzell has been a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion, acted in music videos and cast for two roles in the original Stephen King movie, “Children of The Corn.” If that's not interesting enough, he's now a writer, producer, manager, boxing coach and visual artist in high demand, creating custom portraits of the stars for the stars.

In 2006, with royal country music blood running through his veins, Frizzell came full circle being named Nashville’s Artist to the Stars for his artistic collaboration with some of Country, Bluegrass, Gospel, Americana and Roots music's biggest names, including George Jones, Randy Travis, Willie Nelson, Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, Mark Newton, Carl Jackson, Mark Chesnutt, Gene Watson and Jerrod Niemann to name a few.

Ghost On The Canvas sees Campbell capping his brilliant career with one of his most moving and energized works to date, a powerfully emotional song cycle that sees him accompanied by a truly dazzling line-up of songwriters and musicians.

Nashville,  TN (September 10, 2012) – Surfdog Records has announced “A Better Place,” the second video from Glen Campbell’s critically acclaimed album Ghost On The Canvas, featuring a special guest appearance from Joshua Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age, Kyuss, Them Crooked Vultures) and directed by Kii Arens and Jason Trucco is being released to media nationwide.  This farewell video showcases Campbell looking back at his life and career. He also sends a personal message to his wife, Kimberley, a former Radio City Music Hall dancer that the Rhinestone Cowboy met on a blind date in 1981. "My love goes out to Kim, my amazing grace. You've been by my side through these changing times, and it means the world to me."

Ghost On The Canvas – the final studio recording of the iconic eight-time GRAMMY® winning singer/guitarist/songwriter – entered the SoundScan/Billboard 200 at #23 and the UK album chart at #27.  USA Today declared the record “a museum-quality masterpiece,” extolling it as “not simply a coda to an impressive career but also the sort of artistic swan song that might receive serious consideration for album of the year come Grammy Awards time.”  The Boston Globe called Ghost On The Canvas “gorgeous and charming” while Pitchfork noted that “Campbell conveys a certain nostalgia for that defining sound of his prime…His voice remains strong enough that he doesn't need your pity to put these songs across.” “The years have added an edge to his singing,” said Rolling Stone, noting “Dude's definitely not going out softly.” The Village Voice perhaps summed it up best: Ghost On The Canvas is “maybe the finest album (Campbell’s) ever made.”

The collection has met with similar acclaim across the Atlantic, where BBC Music declared it to be “the real deal, musical and emotionally true and sometimes devastating, on a par with (Johnny) Cash’s performance on ‘Hurt.’” Uncut awarded Ghost On The Canvas four stars, applauding Campbell’s “majestic storytelling” while Mojo praised his “glorious undiminished tones, particularly his reckoning with the hereafter on ‘A Better Place.’” Campbell has charted 13 albums in the UK in just over four decades, reaching #1 with the 1976 compilation, Twenty Golden Greats.

In addition to Paul Westerberg, Ghost On The Canvas features original songs by Jakob Dylan, Robert Pollard, and Teddy Thompson. Campbell is backed by a roster of players that includes Chris Isaak, Dick Dale, Billy Corgan, Brian Setzer, Rick Nielsen, Roger Manning, and The Dandy Warhols.  The album was produced by Julian Raymond, who also co-wrote a number of new songs with Campbell.

About Glen Campbell:
For more than fifty years, Glen Campbell has been among popular music’s most successful and significant artists, a multi-talented superstar who can rightfully be declared a living legend and a true American treasure.  The Arkansas-born Campbell took up guitar at an early age and in 1958, relocated to Los Angeles where he immediately became an in-demand session musician.  He joined forces with the legendary Wrecking Crew, a group of session players whose work can be heard on a stunning range of recordings spanning from the 1960’s thru the seventies.  The Wrecking Crew played with such artists as Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, The Monkees, Simon & Garfunkel, Elvis Presley, and most famously, Phil Spector, with whom they helped create the famed “Wall of Sound.” In 1964, Campbell was invited to become a touring member of The Beach Boys, playing bass and singing falsetto harmonies, then later contributing guitar to 1966’s seminal Pet Sounds.

Campbell achieved his first major success as a solo artist with “Gentle On My Mind,” which proved a crossover smash upon its 1967 release.  He followed it that same year with “By The Time I Get To Phoenix,” marking the first in a string of collaborative hits penned by renowned songwriter Jimmy Webb that also includes such classics as “Wichita Lineman,” “Where’s The Playground, Susie,” and “Galveston.”

In addition to hit singles, Campbell also released a remarkable run of gold and platinum certified albums, including 1967’s Gentle On My Mind, the first of seven consecutive collections to hit #1 on Billboard’s “Country Albums” chart.  Among them are full-length favorites like 1967’s By The Time I Get To Phoenix, Bobbie Gentry & Glen Campbell and the 2x-platinum certified Wichita Lineman (both released in 1968), and 1969’s Galveston.

As if his musical career weren’t enough, Campbell also drew acclaim as an actor and TV personality, with credits that include 1969’s True Grit (earning him a Golden Globe nomination as “Most Promising Newcomer”) and four seasons as host of CBS’ The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour.  The highly rated variety series saw Campbell joined by a spectacular assortment of stars – including John Wayne, Dean Martin, Ray Charles, and Cream – while also introducing some of country music’s greatest artists (Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard) to a wide national audience.

1975 saw the release of Campbell’s biggest crossover triumph, “Rhinestone Cowboy,” which earned RIAA gold certification while topping both Billboard’s “Hot 100” and “Hot Country Singles” charts.  Two years later saw Campbell repeating the feat with the gold certified, #1 smash, “Southern Nights,” marking his fifth-ever country chart-topper as well as his seventh on Billboard’s “Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks” tally.

Though Campbell’s life has taken many difficult turns, his faith and family have long enabled him to keep pushing forward, both as a touring superstar and acclaimed recording artist.  In 2008, he united with Ghost On The Canvas producer Julian Raymond for one of the most unique albums in his canon, Meet Glen Campbell.  The album found Campbell putting his inimitable stamp on songs by such artists as U2, Green Day, Tom Petty, Foo Fighters, and Jackson Browne, supported by members of Jane’s Addiction, Jellyfish, and Cheap Trick.

Over the course of his astonishing career, Campbell can lay claim to six Top 20 albums and 21 Top 40 hit singles.  His track record as one of country music’s greatest stars includes 27 Top 10 country classics spanning 22 years, as well as nine #1 country albums.

Campbell has also received a stunning array of honors, beginning in 1967 when he made history by winning multiple Grammy Awards in both the Country & Western and Pop categories: “Gentle On My Mind” was honored as “Best Country & Western Vocal Performance, Male” and “Best Country & Western Recording,” while “By The Time I Get To Phoenix” was named “Best Vocal Performance, Male” and “Best Contemporary Male Solo Vocal Performance.”  The following year saw Campbell earning yet another Grammy when By The Time I Get To Phoenix was named “Album of the Year” – the first country album to win the top award.  What’s more, “Gentle On My Mind,” “By The Time I Get To Phoenix,” and “Wichita Lineman” have all since received the “Grammy Hall of Fame Award.”

Among Campbell’s many other honors are seven Academy of Country Music Awards (including “Top Male Vocalist” and “Album of the Year” in both 1967 and 1968), three American Music Awards (celebrating “Rhinestone Cowboy” and the album that bears its name), three Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, two Country Music Association Awards, and the UK’s Q Award for “Q Legend.”  In addition, Campbell has received the Academy of Country Music’s prestigious “Pioneer Award” and has been inducted to both the Country Music Hall of Fame as well as the Musicians Hall of Fame (honoring his membership in The Wrecking Crew).
