Miss Willie Brown Planning Fall Club Tour
Nashville, TN - Sept. 4, 2012 -A&M/Octone Records' Miss Willie Brown will return to Jimmy Kimmel Live! (ABC) on Wed., Sept. 5 at 12 AM ET/11 PM CT.  The duo made their late night debut two years ago as the first unsigned act ever to perform on the show.  With raw, honk-tonk-style emotion and irresistible rock & roll swagger, Miss Willie Brown is both a reminder of the classic power of a song and a fresh look toward music's future.
The two girls met in California waiting tables at a BBQ restaurant and bonded over their shared love of songwriting and country music. That first night, the pair wrote four songs together and things took off like a rocket ship.  In true DIY fashion, they started booking their own shows, recorded an EP, got their music placed on the TV show Army Wives and landed slots at major festivals all without a manager or a record label.  It was during one of their early shows in LA, that the booker for Jimmy Kimmel Live! caught the girls' electric live show and gave them a shot at their first national TV debut.  Shortly after, they inked a deal with A&M/Octone Records, as the New York based label’s first country act.
"We are so grateful for Jimmy Kimmel's support at such an early point in our career,” said Kasey Buckley.  “It means even more to us for them to have us back on the show."
"We've put in a lot of work this year, and the support we've received from radio so far has been really amazing," added Amanda Watkins.  "We're really excited to put a little club tour together this Fall and continue building on the friendships we've already made with radio and country fans."
The twosome recently released their first single to country radio, "You're All That Matters To Me," and this fall they'll take their energetic live show across the country in a series of club shows.  Dates and ticket information will be released soon.

THE ROYS Are Among Top 5 Nominees In Three Categories For 18thAnnual ICM Faith, Family & Country™ Awards

Siblings In Running For Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Duo of the Year & Inspirational Bluegrass Artist of the Year Awards

The Roys new PR shot
Nashville, TN (September 4, 2012) -- The reigning Inspirational Country Music Bluegrass Artist of the Year, THE ROYS, are among the Top 5 nominees in three categories for the 18th Annual ICM Faith, Family & Country™ Awards, scheduled to be held October 18 at Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville.  The siblings are honored to be eligible for Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Duo of the Year and Inspirational Bluegrass Artist of the Year awards.  "Folks always say how humbled they are to be nominated, and I know it's true for us," says Lee Roy.  Adds Elaine, "To be in the company of artists we have admired for many years is incredible."
The Awards are dedicated to honoring and showcasing the biggest names and emerging talent among artists who perform Inspirational Country Music.  The event is a great fit for THE ROYS, who continue to inspire their fans with fresh, uplifting and thoughtful tunes that are full of life and love.

Their newest Rural Rhythm Records' EP, NEW DAY DAWNING, was released earlier this week and the disc is already drawing rave reviews.

"An optimistic look at life has long been a key part of THE ROYS' brand of Bluegrass.  On their new studio album, the brother/sister duo continues to blend an uplifting message with a traditional sound and sibling harmonies as they take time to reflect on their own roots." - GAC

"One of the reasons people love Country music is its focus on morals.  Family, love, God, heartbreak, and relationships are all held dear to those of traditional thinking, and there's no type of music that more accurately represents these principles than Country music and its sub-genres, including the newest release by Bluegrass duo THE ROYS." - MUSIC CITY ENCORE

"Elaine and Lee have such a gift for finding great songs, and singing wonderful harmony." -  SiriusXM Radio

The duo's current single, "Still Standing," is drawing equally strong reviews.  Music Row's Robert K. Oermann has called the track "Their strongest outing yet," while JoeLimardi, Program Director at powerhouse station 650 AM WSM enthusiastically calls the single "THE breakout hit for THE ROYS!"

A massive launch campaign has surrounded the release of the new EP.  THE ROYS recently made appearances on SiriusXM, Fox News, WAMU, 650 WSM AM and Bluegrass Radio Network.

The new disc follows their landmark Rural Rhythm Records' debut CD, LONESOME WHISTLE, which earned the duo a spot on BILLBOARD'S Top 50 Bluegrass Albums of 2011 Chart and gave Lee and Elaine two hit singles: "Coal Minin' Man" and "Trailblazer."  In addition to chart success, THE ROYS have received the accolades of their peers, winning the coveted 2011 Inspirational Country Music's Bluegrass Artist of the Year award.  The siblings were previously honored with the ICM's Duo of the Year award in 2010 and 2009.

Fans can catch up with THE ROYS online at www.THEROYSonline.com.

The 7th Annual Smithfield Music Fest

The 7th Annual Smithfield Music's Aiken & Friends Fest Offers More Than Just Great Music

Event's September 29 Workshops Benefit Isle of Wight County Music Education

Nashville, TN (September 4, 2012) - The 7th Annual Smithfield Music's Aiken & Friends Fest offers more than just great music; the event also offers fun and informative workshops that benefit music education in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.  A much-touted Fest feature, the annual educational seminars offer a variety of topic choices to those who wish to learn more about the various aspects of the music industry.  This year's program features:
  • Songwriters' workshop - hosted by singer/songwriters Mike Aiken, Elliott Lurie and Bonnie Bishop.  Format is often governed by attendee questions, but this year writing for specific markets like film and TV placement will be addressed.

  • Guitar seminar - taught by master guitarist Sam Dorsey (Chair of Norfolk State University's Music Dept., member of the Tidewater Guitar Orchestra); open to players of any age and skill level.

  • Music Promotion 101 - insights from Northwind Records' President Amy Aiken and Lurie.  Topics cover how the Indie artist can advance their career and song/artist promotion within film and TV.

All educational events are held on Saturday, September 29, and the cost to participate is included in the general ticket purchase price of $35.  Special seminar-only tickets are available for $10.  "The Saturday kick-off concert consists of musicians from our local schools," comments Jim Abicht of Smithfield Music.  "This gives our audience a chance to see what their money is doing for our communities and a chance for our students to perform before a non-biased audience.  Both sides learn something."  Abicht comments on the educational workshops offered each year, "They have done a great job of engaging the participants--no matter the level of expertise they bring to the table.  From beginners to those who could probably teach their own class, the leaders make sure everyone walks away with something that will advance their knowledge of music."

Now in its seventh year, Smithfield Music's Aiken and Friends Fest benefits youth music education through its vibrant annual Americana/Roots festival.  A "celebration of songwriters," this small-town Virginia event introduces music fans to national, regional and local artists in the rural splendor along the Pagan River.  Smithfield's very active music scene is due in part to the efforts of Jim & Elaine Abicht who head Smithfield Music.

Festival founder and Americana/Country/Roots artist Mike Aiken notes, "The benefits to area children are enormous, and we are humbled by the many folks who continue to participate."

Click HERE for more information on the Smithfield Music's Aiken & Friends Fest.

In 2005, the Isle of Wight Arts League entered into a partnership with Smithfield Music, a venture created by Jim and Elaine Abicht, to present performances by top tier professional musicians in the family-friendly venue, the Smithfield Little Theatre.  Net proceeds from Smithfield Music events are donated to the school music programs in Isle of Wight County.  As a program of the Isle of Wight Arts League, Smithfield Music is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and donations to Smithfield Music may be tax deductible.
Amy's background was pure do-it-yourself, and she learned from the ground up.  She has engineered albums for Mike Aiken, blues artist Bobby Blackhat Walters, pop artist Sonya Lorelle and others.  She started the Indie label Northwind Records in 2002, and as label President she's produced and promoted numerous records to #1, Top 25 and Top 50 in U.S. and Europe.

For more than 25 years, Elliot Lurie has been a successful film & TV music supervisor in Hollywood.  As an independent supervisor, he has contributed to hit movies like A Night At The Roxbury, Something's Gotta Give and Stuart Little.   His television credits include: Clueless, The 4400 and Lizzie McGuire.

Northwind Records' recording artist Mike Aiken is a songwriter/artist known for his signature blend of Americana, Country and Roots which have garnered him #1 hits in the U.S. and Europe.  Between performances Mike is writing new songs, recording and working on his philanthropic projects that include both the annual Aiken & Friends Fest and the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race that benefits environmental concerns.

"Jones entered to a standing ovation and left to one..." BREAKING NEWS!!! BMI will celebrate the incredible songwriting career of Tom T. Hall by naming him a BMI Icon at the company’s 60th annual Country Awards. The private ceremony will be held on Tuesday, October 30 at BMI’s Music Row building in Nashville. The BMI Icon award is given to songwriters who have had a “unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers.” An all-star musical tribute will pay homage to Hall, who joins a list of past honorees that includes Billy Sherrill, John Fogerty, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Isaac Hayes, Merle Haggard, Brian Wilson, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, the Bee Gees, Bobby Braddock, Ray Davies, James Brown and more.Tom T. Hall is one of the original master craftsmen of country music, a distinct voice who elevated the art form by staying true to himself and fostering a sincere respect for his listeners. Like the most expertly crafted short stories, Hall’s songs are detailed vignettes, vivid and familiar thanks to his unwavering devotion to the sharply drawn characters who populate them. The Kentucky native’s approach earned him the nickname “The Storyteller.” As a recording artist, Hall had seven No. 1 singles, all self-penned: “A Week in a Country Jail” (1969–70), “The Year That Clayton Delaney Died” (1971),“(Old Dogs, Children and) Watermelon Wine” (1972–73),” “I Love” (1973–74), “Country Is” (1974), “I Care” (1974–75), and “Faster Horses (the Cowboy and the Poet)” (1976). The Grammy winner also famously wrote smashes for others, including “Harper Valley P.T.A.,” which Jeannie C. Riley took to No. 1 on country and pop charts in 1968, as well as “The Pool Shark,” a chart-topper for Dave Dudley; “(Margie’s at) the Lincoln Park Inn" and “That’s How I Got to Memphis ,” recorded by Bobby Bare; and “Little Bitty,” a mega-hit for Alan Jackson in the late 90s. Hall has earned a total of 31 BMI Awards for songwriting spanning country and pop genres, and six of his songs have accumulated more than one million performances each. In 2008, he was welcomed into the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2011, songwriters Eric Brace and Peter Cooper produced their own take on seminal 1974 children’s album Songs of Fox Hollow. The project, I Love: Tom T. Hall’s Songs of Fox Hollow, featuring top-tier roots artists delivering new versions of the classic songs, was nominated for a Grammy, reflecting the undiminished resonance of Hall’s music. In addition to Americana, it should also be noted that since Hall's retirement from touring, he has enjoyed mega writing success in the worlds of both traditional and modern bluegrass music and old time country, as well as classic and progressive country. He has collaborated extensively with his wife Miss Dixie, and the Halls were named SPBGMA Songwriter of the Year for 10 consecutive years, garnering them the Master's Gold and Grand Master's Gold award. It is never surprising to see as many as five or six Hall compositions at a time in the bluegrass charts, several of them reaching No. 1, such as “Bill Monroe For Breakfast,” which Hall recorded himself; a new version of “That's How I Got To Memphis” by Charlie Sizemore; “Clinch Mountain Mystery” by The Larry Stephenson Band; “Train Songs” by Ralph Stanley II; “Train Without a Track” by Junior Sisk and Rambler's Choice; and “The Boys In Hats and Ties” by Big Country Bluegrass, just to name a few. Hall’s personal story is also uniquely tied to BMI: He met Miss Dixie, his wife of 45 years, at the 1965 BMI Country Awards in Nashville.

Daniel O’Donnell Attracts Thousands to Killarney
Irish singing sensation, Daniel O’Donnell travelled to Killarney recently for a series of sold-out Concerts at the INEC. Over 10,000 tickets were sold across the five night run (August 14, 15, 17, 18 and 19) and fans in their thousands descended on the town bringing a much welcomed boost to business in what has proved to be a difficult season to date. Fans travelled from their homes in Australia, Canada, United States, England, Scotland and Wales, not forgetting his countless fans from all over Ireland. The feedback from all who attended was complete elation and this series of concerts was welcomed with delight by all hoteliers, restaurants and shops not only in Killarney but in the entire region, as many of Daniel's fans remained for extended visits. “Daniel O’Donnell’s popularity is unfaltering,” says Patrick O’Donoghue Managing Director of the INEC and Gleneagle Hotel, “and once you have attended one of his shows, it is easy to understand why.” The fact that the five INEC gigs are Daniel’s only concert dates this summer has meant that the demand for tickets has been phenomenal and all five shows sold out. Prior to the shows Daniel spoke of his delight to be going back to Killarney, “I’m really looking forward to heading down to Killarney,” says Daniel, “I am absolutely thrilled and amazed at the amount of people who are coming to see the shows.” “I’m delighted to be performing at the INEC and I’ll be joined by my full band and touring partner Mary Duff. You can expect to hear all the hits and songs that have become big show favourites through the decades including Stand Beside Me, My Donegal Show, I Just Want To Dance With You and I Need You.” Daniel, as always, made time following each concert to chat with his fans.
