Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers Celebrate Entertainer of the Year

Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers Celebrate Entertainer of the Year Nomination for the 2012 IBMA Awards

Nashville, Tenn.— Setting a goal and achieving it is a wondrous thing, especially when the goal is to be the best. Bluegrass band Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers realized that goal in 2011 when they were awarded the prestigious Entertainer of the Year trophy at the 22nd Annual International Bluegrass Music Association Awards at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. At 5 p.m. on Aug. 15, Martin and SCR were once again recognized for their excellence and received the 2012 IBMA nomination in that same coveted category.

In a genre that prizes musicianship above all else, Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers have stormed to national prominence imbuing their stage show and recordings with raw talent, respect for the traditions of bluegrass and a willingness to push the envelope. They continue to perform bluegrass to a larger audience than any other group in the genre, introducing more and more listeners to roots music instrumentation and bluegrass music’s rich history.
Earlier this year, SCR recorded their Rounder Records debut Nobody Knows You with producer Gary Paczosa. The album, released April 10, 2012, has enjoyed critical acclaim from mainstream outlets, such as The New York Times and Paste Magazine, who recognize the scope of the band’s audience has grown beyond genre boundaries thanks in part to their collaborations with entertainment icon Martin. Nobody Knows You remains on Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums chart more than four months after release.
The album is noted for its beauty both in its recorded and packaged form. Graphic design by Bedrock MFG received a 2012 IBMA nomination for “Best Graphic Design” for their contribution.
The Steep Canyon Rangers will continue touring with Steve Martin this fall in celebration of last year's Rare Bird Alert, while fitting in dates independently to support Nobody Knows You. The Mountain Song Festival, the band’s annual benefit for the Transylvania Boys and Girls Club, is enjoying both land and sea versions this year. The band’s previous efforts have gifted the Club with over a quarter of a million dollars and thanks to the band’s continued efforts to grow the festival, the Club will receive more annualcontributions and ongoing support.
Recognition in successive years from theIBMA for the Steep Canyon Rangers come as no surprise to anyone who’s spent time with this well-grounded ensemble. These nominations validate the hard work and creativity of this unique band of “brothers.” The Steep Canyon Rangers are heralding a new era of bluegrass with both their artistic contributions and their service-minded approach to investing themselves holistically in their performances.

Winners for Entertainer of the Year will be announced during the 23rd Annual IBMA Awards, hosted by Del McCoury and Laurie Lewis, on Sept. 27, 2012 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn.

Interview Lucius Reichling (†65)

This Seven member, Norwegian band has been around since 2003, and are just getting stronger as they go. The songs on this third cd were recorded in their own studio in Arendal, Norway and on their own label. The band is a mix of country and country rock. There are some ballads and some good fast paced songs. The King is a song tribute to of course the King Elvis. Well written and sung.
The 11 song cd is worth the money. There’s great vocals, and harmonizing with some well written songs to listen to as well. Not sure why they haven’t gone further because they are a good sounding band, and songs are good too. Maybe after this you will hear more from the Clutterbillies and just not in Norway!
Check them out on their website, and on their own Facebook page.

One of the best Bluegrass cd’s I have heard in a long time. Audies’ voice reminds me of the early Ricky Skaggs. This self titled cd was produced by Audie and released in June of this year. Audie has also written two of the songs on the cd, one being “The Chair” and the other “A Grandmother’s Love” both high class songs!!

There are a lot of great tracks on the cd including “Natural Thing” which was the first release off the cd, along with a video of the same title. You have your choice of some edgy bluegrass along with some slower paced ballad style as well. All in all these differences show the versatility of the band. theres not a bad one in the bunch!! If you want to hear banjo, you got it, if you want to hear some good dobro pickin, you got it and of course theres the fiddle… Like I said not a bad song in the bunch!
Audie Blaylock and Redline are now on tour, so if you want to have a great time check out his website for details of where hes playing, if you cant wait, then go online and buy yourself a cd!! You wont go wrong
You can pick up your copy off his website, He is also on Facebook.

"This is the first opportunity I've had to 'play a character' in a video," shares Casey. "My focus is always the music, but it was a lot of fun working outside my comfort zone. I wanted to make sure that the small amount of acting would be believable, and I feel like it is. I'm very proud of the video, and I can't wait for everyone to see it."

Tyler Farr Releases "Hello Goodbye"

Singer-Songwriter Tyler Farr Releases "Hello Goodbye"

NASHVILLE, TN – Columbia Nashville newcomer Tyler Farr, heralded as a “New Artist To Watch” by both Country Weekly and Roughstock, is releasing his powerful new single, “Hello Goodbye.” The ballad of a man facing the emotional road at the end of a relationship, “Hello Goodbye” is a song that Tyler wrote following a real-life experience. “I caught an ex-girlfriend of mine cheating on me, and the next day we (Kris Bergsnes and Skip Black) wrote this song,” said Tyler. “Songwriting is like therapy, and thanks to Kris, Skip and a few drinks, I got some good counseling,” he laughed.
This Saturday Tyler will perform the song on the Grand Ole Opry. “One of the things I love about country music is the songs are built on real life experiences and events and I can’t think of a better place to play this song than at the Opry,” said Tyler.
A native of Garden City, MO, Tyler’s love of country music was set after going on the road with his step father, who played guitar for George Jones. After two years at Missouri State on a vocal performance scholarship, Tyler packed up his car and headed to Nashville. He got a job at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge playing the 10 pm – 2 am shift.
From there, Tyler took the party on the road playing clubs all across the southeast. He’s opened shows for artists including Miranda Lambert, Jerrod Niemann, and Lee Brice, and spent a year on the road with Colt Ford. “We’ve put a lot of miles on the van and we probably qualify for a U-Haul endorsement.”
The hundreds of shows and thousands of miles on the road have added up to a loyal fan base for Tyler. “What’s great now is I’m finally getting to the point where people are starting to catch on and know my songs and that is the best feeling in the entire world when you get someone. “When a fan comes up to me after a show to say they had a good time, then I’ve done my job.”

Nashville, TN (August 16, 2012)  — Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, currently celebrating their 20th anniversary together, will perform the National Anthem for the first Southeastern Conference football game of the season on Thursday, August 30th when South Carolina plays Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee. The celebrated bluegrass ensemble has become very well-known for their stellar vocal arrangements and have been awarded the International Bluegrass Music Association's Vocal Group of the Year seven times. Their a cappella arrangements of gospel and pop songs have become a staple in their live shows, gaining the adoration of fans and the respect of their colleagues worldwide. Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out will no-doubt present a timeless version of "The Star Spangled Banner" before an expected sold-out stadium full of sports enthusiasts. The game will be broadcast on ESPN and begins at 6:00pm CST.

Prior to their National Anthem performance, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out will stop by for a visit and concert at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville. The band will perform a 45 minute show for the patients and their families and visit with children after. The world-class facilities at Children's Hospital are a testament to Nashville's dedication to the health of children. Constructed in 2004 and expanded in 2012, the 271-bed hospital is a child-friendly place built on the science of healing and has ranked among the nation's best by U.S. News & World Report for the last six years.

Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out will appear at Vanderbilt for the prestigious SEC season-opening game and visit the boys and girls at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital as part of the two-year old Children's Hospital & Arena Tour coordinated by Sherri George. Originally custom built for 2012 International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame Inductee Doyle Lawson, the tour is an ultra-creative vehicle which combines helping hospitalized children with inspiring national patriotism, and pairs National Anthem performances at major sporting arenas with childen's hospital visits in the same city or region.  "The Tour offers a fabulous opportunity for putting artists in a spectacular spotlight while providing an invaluable emotional boost for kids and their parents," said Sherri George. "We're delighted to welcome Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out as guests on our tour this year. I know they'll be a perfect fit to touch hearts and bring smiles to the faces of the children they meet, and having heard their Anthem.. all I can say is, prepare to be STUNNED!! They're truly amazing, and it's an honor to have them join Doyle this Fall in helping rock stadiums with amazing bluegrass harmony and touch children's hearts and lives for good through this tour."

"We are deeply honored to have been asked to perform our country's National Anthem for the first SEC game of the season," states Russell Moore. "Most of us are avid sports fans and we're all looking forward to representing our country by performing our nation's most important song and enjoying one of our favorite sports as well. That said, nothing can compare to the blessing that WE will receive when we visit the Children's Hospital. Our hope is that we bring smiles and laughter to the children, and their families, who are battling illnesses that we can't even comprehend."

Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out are currently on tour in support of their hit CD on Rural Rhythm Records, PRIME TYME. The band has also just learned they are top nominees claiming nine nominations for the the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards announced last night during a press conference in Nashville. The band's nominations include Entertainer, Vocal Group, Song of the Year for "Pretty Little Girl From Galax", Album of the Year for PRIME TYME, and Instrumental Recorded Performance for "Carrol County Blues". In addition Russell Moore is again nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year, an award he has won four times previously, and IIIrd Tyme Out band member Wayne Benson received a nomination for Instrumental Performer of the Year - Mandolin. Russell Moore is also included among nominees for his work with Doyle Lawson, Jamie Dailey and Josh Swift on "Beyond The Sunset" which is nominated for Gospel Recorded Performance and Recorded Event of the Year.
