ON THE ROAD WITH BOB & SHEILA EVERHART JUNE 4. 2012

ON THE ROAD WITH BOB & SHEILA EVERHART
Anita, Iowa....."Memorial Day Week is finally slowing down, everyone is getting ready to go back to work," says Sheila Everhart of the Dynamic Duo 'Bob & Sheila.'  "We stayed pretty close to home and have been very busy working in the theater and the musuem.  Bob has so much work to do in the museum, he can hardly keep up with it.  We also had the roof fixed last year, and of course there's still a bad leak.  How do you deal with these kind of problems, they just never seem to go away."
"We just had a terrific show at the Oak Tree Opry," Bob added, "John & Susan McNeill from South Dakota did a fantastic job entertaining.  This couple is so talented, and they have such a unique and very different way of presenting country music.  It's such a delight to hear and watch them play, and we had a nearly full house to boot.  Our next show is another fantastic performer, Capitol recording artist, Red Johnson.  Red makes his home in Minnesota, when he's at home.  He travels a lot, his big hit song "There's A Grand Ole Opry Show Playing Somewhere," is still pretty well known, and his fans know he's going to do some great traditional and classic country music. Red is in our Hall of Fame, and you can see his picture and one of his Capitol records in the Pioneer Music Museum.  He wrote another great song called "Veteran's Day Is Every Day."  He usually brings a full band with him so we'd sure recommend reserved seats if you want a good seat   712-762-4363."
"My back porch garden is doing just fine," Sheila added.  "I planted some sweet corn next to my chives, we'll see what they taste like. The chives are such nice plants, they come back every year all by themselves, and we use them a lot, especially in salads.  When they bloom, they have the nicest purple clover-like blossoms, so they're pretty as well as edible."
"If you can call a hamburger at an auction in Harlan a budget lunch," Bobbie Lhea, the Everharts daughter commented, "I guess it is according to Dad.  We went to Harlan to see what some guitars and accordions would bring.  Dad didn't get the accordions, he said they went too high, but he did get a Guild guitar for $40.  He thought it was really funny, right in the middle of all the musical instruments was a small wood-cutters axe.  He said he guessed all the instruments were 'axes' too, so he bought the axe."
"We're going to be performing at the Blairsburg Opera House," Bob added, "doing a Tribute to Woody Guthrie as well as a historically prepared traditional music concert June 9th at 7pm.  Blairsburg is just East of Fort Dodge.  We'll also be doing a show at the Fort Dodge Senior High School Little Theater as a fund raiser for the Webster County Museum on Sunday June 10th at 7pm, with Shadric Smith, a very popular songwriter and country singer from Fort Dodge.  Come and see us if you are in the area, should be lots of fun.  Don't forget to send a post card to Iowa Public Television if you want "Old Time Country Music" to be back in re-runs."

Be with us for our big 37th annual Old-Time Music Festival at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds in LeMars, Iowa, August 27-Sept 2, 2012.  Over 650 performers on ten "sound" stages, including Hall of Fame inductions and RRMC CD's of the Year Awards.   ...AND, our Rural Roots Music Festival October 5-6-7, 2012 at the Christensen Field House in Fremont, Nebraska.  Visit our website:   http://www.ntcma.net

Connie Kis ANDERSEN in Nashville during CMA Fest 2012

Connie Kis ANDERSEN in Nashville
during CMA Fest 2012

Multi-award winning Independent Australian Country Music Artist, Connie Kis Andersen returns to Nashville after a 12 month hiatus from touring.

On May 10 last year she officially launched her album; CONNIE KIS in the USA on the Billy Block Show, held at the Rutledge in Nashville.

Description: Photo: A.P. Benko (March 2012)Upon her return to Perth, Western Australia late in June 2011, she was diagnosed with cancer and underwent nine months of treatment which included several surgeries and a six month course of chemotherapy every other week.

Ms. Andersen chose not to announce her illness publicly until just recently, because she wanted the public focus to remain on her music and not her health.

Now, with all that behind her she celebrates her return to music as a guest on the Billy Block Show this Tuesday June 5 and is looking forward to picking up the pieces where she left off.

It has been a bittersweet year for me” she says, “with a brand new album out but unable to tour it, I decided to work as hard as I possibly could and promote my album online and through media, knowing full well that by the time I would be well enough to get out and tour again, CONNIE KIS the album would be on the ‘back stretch’.  That hard work paid off though and I have been so very honoured to be awarded many accolades in Australia this past year.

Details of her performance follow:
The Billy Block Show (June 5 2012)
Where:  The Rutledge - 410 4th Avenue South Nashville
                                    Time:     8.30pm

For your complimentary copy of her award winning album; CONNIE KIS, just mention KM Publicity to Connie after her performance on the Billy Block show at the venue on Tuesday evening.

Clinton Gregory TOO MUCH AIN’T ENOUGH

TOO MUCH AIN’T ENOUGH
Clinton Gregory
CD Review by Preshias

He’s baaa-aack. It’s been a while since the world had a chance to hear something new from Clinton Gregory. Just about twenty years or so, in fact, since a Gregory song broke the Top 30 Country charts.

Traditional country fans will figure the wait was worthwhile when it comes to Gregory’s new CD release “TOO MUCH AIN’T ENOUGH” as his gravelly baritone makes the best of subjects involving booze and women who let you down and men who let themselves down, thanks to booze and women.

“Bridges,” a standout track penned by Marty Brown and Gary (“Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off”) Hannan, starts with the line: “He gets drunk, she does the drivin’/ When he’s actin’ like a fool, she’s apologizin’.” Gregory goes on to tell us that she’s a cool drop of water when he’s blowing off steam. A superb piece of mental imagery from great writers that Clinton Gregory’s wistful voice does full justice to.

Gregory’s hardcore fans feel that he carries the standard raised by George Jones, Waylon Jennings and the vulnerable tough guys that are hard to find on Nashville labels these days.

The title of the CD’s lead-off track, “Too Country For Nashville” (written by Tommy Barnes and Wild Bill Emerson), pretty much sums up Gregory’s attitude and that of his legion of fans. He will never fit into the mold that shapes today’s mainstream recording artists.

Speaking of George Jones, “If That Ain’t Jones” talks about writing a song and folks say, “If that ain’t Jones I’ll kiss your possum / Sounds like him from top to bottom.” And, yeah, it kinda does.

“Chase Away The Lonely” is a remorseful ballad that evokes last orders in a smoky bar swirling the last drops of whisky around a glass and listening to the final sad song on the jukebox. But he knows how to lighten the mood with songs like “You Play Like Chet” and no, it sure ain’t Mr. Atkins that this particular “chet” refers to!

It’s been too long since we heard from Clinton Gregory. Say hello to the new.
