Vince Gill Exits MCA Records After 23 Years

Vince Gill Exits MCA Records After 23 Years
February 23, 2012
Vince Gill has left MCA Records. Appearing Wednesday (Feb. 22) as an unscheduled guest on Universal Music Group's Country Radio Seminar show at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, Gill sang his unrecorded song "Red Words" after announcing his 23-year relationship with MCA was over. A spokesman for Gill confirmed the departure from MCA, a division of UMG.

Prior to signing with MCA in 1989, he had spent five years recording for RCA Records. Gill released Guitar Slinger, his final album for MCA, last October. His first -- and possibly final -- single from that album, "Threaten Me With Heaven," received only moderate airplay. However, Gill, wife Amy Grant, Dillon O'Brian and the late Will Owsley received a Grammy nomination in the best country song category for co-writing it.

The trade publication Country Aircheck reported that Gill told the audience of radio programmers, "I'm just grateful for where I've been, and you've been a big part of where I've been and where I'm going. To my MCA family, it was really a sweet ride the last 23 years, and I appreciate everything you do."

JASON ALDEAN SELLS OUT SECOND ATLANTA SHOW IN HOURS

JASON ALDEAN SELLS OUT SECOND ATLANTA SHOW IN HOURS TODAY AND SETS A NEW VENUE RECORD

Aldean Nominated for Six ACM Awards Including Entertainer of The Year

Nashville, TN – Feb. 17, 2012 – After taking only four minutes for ACM Entertainer of the Year nominee Jason Aldean to sell out his May 19 show at Atlanta's Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood, he sold out a second show on May 18 in just a few hours today.  No other country music artist has ever sold out two shows that quickly in the Atlanta venue's history.

“That's just ridiculous…I don't even know what to say,” said a shocked Aldean.

Aldean is nominated for six ACM Awards, including his second consecutive nods for Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year, as well as Album of the Year for MY KINDA PARTY, Single Record of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year for "Don't You Wanna Stay" feat. Kelly Clarkson and Video of the Year for "Tattoos on this Town."  The April 1
show will air live from Las Vegas on CBS.

A Macon, GA native, Aldean has sold more than six million copies of his four studio albums and topped the charts with eight No. one songs.  His current single, “Fly Over States,” is climbing up the Top 25 at country radio and follows in the footsteps of four consecutive No. one singles off his DOUBLE PLATINUM album MY KINDA PARTY.  The reigning CMA Album of the Year, MY KINDA PARTY was the top-selling country album of 2011 and the No. five best-seller in all genres.

DIERKS BENTLEY PACKS HOUSES ON CANADIAN LEG

DIERKS BENTLEY PACKS HOUSES ON CANADIAN LEG OF
2012 COUNTRY & COLD CANS TOUR AND CLOCKS
1 MILLIONTH MILE ON DRIVE "HOME" TO THE UNITED STATES

Nashville, TN - Feb. 24, 2012 – Multi-Platinum singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley wrapped the Canadian leg of his 2012 Country & Cold Cans Tour last night in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Shortly after crossing the border on his return ‘home’ to the U.S., Bentley’s tour bus “Old Goldie” marked its one millionth mile.

“Goldie has been my home on the road since I put out my very first single,” said Bentley. “A lot of memories have been made traveling across the country in Goldie, and I've been able to see every city and town three or four times.  If you look at my guitar or my boots or my truck, you know that I love old things.  I hope she makes it another million!"

The eight city tour across Canada was the first official trek of 2012's Country & Cold Cans Tour in support of Bentley's sixth studio album "Home," which debuted at No. one last week and continues to bring in massive critical acclaim. Here's what they are saying about the Canadian leg of the tour:

“He certainly has a firm grip on what it takes to be an entertainer…had the crowd on its feet (not like they ever sat down) and singing every word.”  - Calgary Sun

“He’s an unstoppable showman.” - Edmonton Journal

“Bentley and his ace band kept the energy up…the entire group worked the stage, with Bentley stopping
to shake hands, run around the wings and even take a swig of beer from a fan’s cup. He may be a
Grammy-nominated big name artist, but he comes off as an authentic artist who knows how to make his audience feel good.” – Saskatoon Star Phoenix

Bentley will play the San Antonio Rodeo this weekend, before taking his 2012 Country & Cold Cans Tour to Australia and then on a 20-city U.S. spring run. For a full list of upcoming tour dates and more on the album, visit www.dierks.com.

Podunk Bluegrass Music Festival

Norwich, CT Welcomes Podunk Music Festival
February 24, 2012
For Immediate Release
Contact: Roger Moss, 860-987-7744, crmoss@cityofnorwich.org

February 24, 2012 (Norwich, CT)—Podunk President, Mike Wilcox has announced that The Podunk Bluegrass Music Festival will be held at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, CT, August 2-5, 2012. There is a buzz of excitement surrounding the decision to move the International Bluegrass Music Association's 2010 Event of the Year to a new location. Festival board members involved in the production of Podunk assures patrons that the tradition of invariable quality and a first class festival experience will continue in Norwich.

After a meeting in January 2012 with East Hartford, Connecticut's mayor, the Podunk Executive Board felt strongly that searching for a new home was in the best interest of Podunk Music Festival, ultimately resulting in the move to Dodd Stadium in Norwich. Long time Podunk Festival Producer, Roger Moss said, “Bluegrass, like baseball, is an American pastime so we are moving everything from the ball field at Martin Park to the diamond at Dodd.”

Dodd Stadium offers several wonderful amenities that includes plenty of easy access day and handicapped parking. The stadium layout will allow covered but open air space for vendor displays with a view of the stage. Attendees will still be able to set up lawn chairs on the field in front of the bands as in years past. Seating in the stadium will be open to all as well. Dodd Stadium will also welcome campers on site as there are two large areas set aside for weekend camping, offering more space than what has been available in years past. It is level, dry and has a fine gravel base that is easy to maneuver. These spots are only occasionally used for overflow parking during baseball games and have begun sprouting a grassy cover with disuse. Each one is surrounded by a tree line which allows for a potentially good place for tents.  Podunk will bring in a water tank truck for the weekend. There will be access to free showers in the team’s locker rooms. Rosewood Sound will continue to provide artists and music fans the same high standard of listening excellence.

In the five months ahead, the organizers of The Podunk Bluegrass Music Festival will brainstorm to gather and implement ideas that will make this year at Dodd Stadium unique and remarkable. As a group, the board members have years of experience planning the Podunk weekend and take great pride in fine tuning the details to give attendees many reasons to return to Podunk year after year. This year's event offers an unprecedented lineup of talent including Dailey & Vincent, Dale Ann Bradley, Lonesome River Band, Special Consensus, The Grascals, Eddie & Martha Adcock with Tom Gray, The Roys, The Spinney Brothers, The Hillbenders, NewTown, Amy Gallatin & Stillwaters, Travers Chandler & Avery County, Belfry Fellows, The Original New Coon Creek Girls and previously unannounced Grammy-winning singer Kathy Mattea!  As always there will be plenty of campground pickin’, kid and adult academies, band and songwriter competitions and workshops galore including one especially for songwriters. Tickets are available now and if ordered prior to July 1st, offer deep discounts. For more information on the Podunk Music Festival, please visit www.PodunkBluegrass.com.
