WYNONNA KICKS UP THE VOLUME ON THE “NEW” IN THE NEW YEAR…

WYNONNA KICKS UP THE VOLUME ON THE “NEW” IN THE NEW YEAR…
Nashville, Tennessee (January 27, 2012) – With the New Year barely unwrapped and out of the box, the always irrepressible Wynonna is proving once again that diversity is her strong suit.

The five-time Grammy® Award winning artist, New York Times best-selling author and one half of the most successful duos in the history of country music, Wynonna, is juggling an exciting new palette of creative agendas, both personal and career related, head-on.

With her music topping the 30 million mark in sales, the anticipation continues to build as Wynonna prepares for her next studio project. With significant studio time already under her belt, Wy is blocking time to finish writing and recording the newest collection of original music much to the excitement of her legions of fans.

And, The Judd legacy continues with the announcement of their famed television docu-series “The Judds” currently airing on GAC – Great American Country.  The reality series, which debuted as the network’s highest rated show to date in April 2011 on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network, allowed cameras to follow the intricacies of The Judds’ often emotional Last Encore tour—their first reunion on the road after a 10-year sabbatical from their role as iconic mother/daughter duo.

For the first time ever, Wynonna will travel to Australia to perform in the 3-day CMC Rocks the Hunter music festival in March.  Judd will share the stage with industry heavyweights Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Dierks Bentley and many others during Australia’s biggest international country and roots festival.

Taking a breath to concentrate on the ‘personal,’ Wynonna is still basking in the after-glow of the Christmas Eve proposal from Highway 101 drummer, Cactus Moser.  Fans will be able to catch the happily engaged couple on the road together as “Wynonna & The Big Noise,” as shows are being set for a series of 2012 concert dates. As for ‘setting THE date’ for the forthcoming wedding –that’s still high on Wynonna’s personal New Year’s to do list as well.

CRAIG CAMPBELL TAPPED “IN HOUSE” SERIES

CRAIG CAMPBELL TAPPED AS AOL’S FIRST COUNTRY ARTIST
FOR POPULAR “IN HOUSE” SERIES

Nashville, TN...(January 27, 2012)...On a recent trip to New York, Craig Campbell stopped by the AOL Studios to participate in their popular music series called “In House”, an original web series where AOL Music welcomes an artist to the office for interview, live performance, photo shoot and chill session with the staff.  Craig Campbell has the distinction of being the first ever country artist to be featured in the program.  You can check out Craig’s visit HERE beginning today.

Craig Campbell’s latest single, “When I Get It,” co-written by Campbell with Jason Matthews and Jim McCormick, is described by Music Row as an “extremely likeable, hard-times, sing-along tune.” The inventive new music video, which was shot by director Wes Edwards in one continuous take, depicts Campbell’s belongings being repossessed by movers played by his true-life band members.

Campbell will also be hosting a Livestream chat on Monday, January 30th at 7PM CT/8PM ET where he will be talking about upcoming tour dates and playing a few songs live.  Check https://www.facebook.com/CraigCampbelltv on Monday for more information about how to join in.

ABOUT CRAIG CAMPBELL: After moving from his hometown of Lyons, Georgia to Nashville in 2002 to pursue his country music dreams, American Country Awards nominee Craig Campbell quickly picked up work as a keyboardist in Luke Bryan and Tracy Byrd’s bands and was later discovered playing a regular gig at legendary Nashville honky-tonk, The Stage. The singer-songwriter has earned well-deserved praise from the country’s toughest critics for his self-titled debut album, which released in April of 2011. Campbell’s autobiographical lead single, “Family Man” was a top 15 hit followed by “Fish” which has sold a quarter of a million downloads. Glasperlenspiel

Februar in Stuttgart.

Interview with Curtis Lyn Cook

Interview with Curtis Lyn Cook

Lamitschka:  Music has many new fans throughout Europe who may be hearing about you for the first time. How would you describe yourself and the music you play to someone who has never seen or heard you?

Curtis Lyn Cook:  I’m a throwback to the Outlaw Country of the 70’s. A mixture of Waylon, Merle, Paycheck, and Bocephus.

Lamitschka:  How was the last year for you? What were your highlights?

Curtis Lyn Cook:  2011 was an awesome year, with the long awaited release of my new album. We were able to chart in the top 50 on the Roots Music report by the 2nd month. We’ve been there every since.  32 weeks and counting.

Lamitschka:  What is your latest CD and how's it doing?

Curtis Lyn Cook:  The album is titled, „JUST MY LUCK.  It’s a collection of songs that I’ve written over the past 20 or so years, along with a couple of my favorites from my favorite writers, Merle and The legendary Gene Davis from the West Coast.

Lamitschka:  How did you choose the title for the CD?  Is there a story behind the name?

Curtis Lyn Cook:  Whew, that’s tough. I just tried to come up with something catchy, yet that incorporated a title from one of my songs... This music business has been a long road so, the title JUST MY LUCK seemed fitting.

Lamitschka:  Do you write the songs yourself? If not, how do you go about finding the songs for your CD?

Curtis Lyn Cook:  I wrote 10 of the 12 songs on the album.  Picking songs are a process. I’ve written so many but, narrowing it down wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.  I have a pretty good idea what works for me and what doesn’t.

Lamitschka:  What is the difference between your last CD and your current one?

Curtis Lyn Cook:  This album is just put together much better.  We tried not to overproduce anything. I try to improve in the recording process also.  I don’t do much fluffy up on what I record. I want to be able to go out and create that same sound in our shows. NO pitch corrections or click tracks go into anything I cut. I want it to feel real.

Lamitschka:  What kind of songs do you like to record the most?

Curtis Lyn Cook:  Well, I love singing a ballad but, I think I have the most fun with the hard driving, Honky Tonkin‘ songs.

Lamitschka:  What is your favorite song among all the songs you have recorded and what's the story behind it?

Curtis Lyn Cook:  Wow, My favorite song??? That’s tough.  I think I would have to say YOU CAN’T HAVE HER.....from this album.  I just love the song.  It’s the last thing I wrote for the record, and it just sticks in my head everytime I hear it.  I hope it does that for everyone else...lol

Lamitschka:  How much creative control do you have over your music?

Curtis Lyn Cook:  I have 100% creative control with my music. Arrangements, recordings, all of it. Maybe that’s why I’m not on a Major Nashville Label today but, I don’t think someone sitting behind a desk, who doesn’t play music but has a business degree should decide what’s best for me and my brand.

Lamitschka:  What do you think about today's music scene versus its post and where do you see it going in the future?

Curtis Lyn Cook:  I’m not wild about Country Music coming out currently. Some is good but most is just bubble gum Country.  It all pretty much sounds the same, being produced by the same producers..You’ll get that when that happens. I think there’s a market and a place for my brand of music and I firmly believe it will come back around. It has to if we want Country Music to survive. I’ll do my part to keep Steel guitar in Country Music, and that honky tonk sound going.

Lamitschka:  If you had the chance to change something about the music industry, what would it be?

Curtis Lyn Cook:  I wouldn’t keep so many folks out of it. Take the politics out of the biz. Just because someone isn’t a known songwriter, for example doesn’t mean that person don’t write great songs. It just means that the chances are slim for anyone who can get them out there to ever hear them.  That’s ashame.  I have people ask me all the time, How can I pitch a song in Nashville to a Recording Artist?  My answer is simple.  I always say, When I figure it out, I’ll let you know! If I had the power to help someone be successful in the biz, I would do everything I could to help them succeed.

Lamitschka:  Are you doing anything to take music beyond its current borders or are you happy where it is?

Curtis Lyn Cook:  I’m never happy with the current state of my career. I keep pushing everyday for more. That’ll never change. Right now, we do alot of social networking to get my music all over the world.  Airplay oversea’s is the very reason we’ve got a charted record right now.

COLES WHALEN ANNOUNCES NEW RECORD AND TOUR

DENVER NATIVE COLES WHALEN ANNOUNCES NEW RECORD AND TOUR

Coles Whalen is a woman who makes things happen. When she wanted to jumpstart her music career she bought a pickup truck, toured the country and sold CDs out of the back. Then, when opportunity knocked and kept knocking, she picked up her guitar to open for artists like Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Rufus Wainwright, and yes, even Akon in Montreal, Nashville, Denver, and all points in between.

But it isn’t just sheer will that’s gotten Whalen to where she is today. Her homespun blend of bluesy, swampy folk has something to do with it. On “Wake Up Easy” Whalen breezily sings, メYou’re making coffee, making the bed / I kind of feel like making something else instead.モ A languorous piano, creaking washboard and softly shaken percussion help create a mood of sleepy-eyed seduction. The first single, “Cannonball,” is a mix of wistful pop, folk and rock stitched together by Coles’ distinctive vocals over driving loops and chiming guitar riffs.

A backwoods coquette, Whalen knows how to woo her listeners. Make sure you stay on the getting side with this one.Whalen’s newest release was written and recorded in Nashville with Australian Producer Michael Flanders, but the sound of the record is anything but traditional country. - Kate B, Ourstage Colorado

The Nationwide Tour in support of her record I Wrote This For You kicks off February 25th at Casselman’s Bar and Venue in Denver and then onward to venues throughout the United States and Canada. Cannonball will be available on iTunes January, 2012. For more information on Coles Whalen, please visit www.coleswhalen.com

GARTH BROOKS THE WINNER

GARTH IS THE WINNER
Good for Garth.  He has always been a man of his word, and he made this a jury trial, and even though the OK town has its’ pro & con’s about the final jury ruling, Garth will not turn and run from anything when he knows he is right.  Congrats to you Garth.  This is one time corporate America got its’ butt kicked.

Oklahoma hospital must pay $1M to Garth Brooks

CLAREMORE, Okla. - An Oklahoma hospital in Garth Brooks' hometown must pay $1 million to the country singer because it failed to build a women's health center in honor of his late mother, jurors ruled Tuesday evening.

Jurors ruled that the hospital must return a $500,000 donation to Brooks plus pay him $500,000 in punitive damages in Brooks' breach-of-contract lawsuit against Integris Canadian Valley Regional Hospital in Yukon. Brooks said he thought he'd reached a deal in 2005 with the hospital's president, James Moore, but sued after learning the hospital wanted to use the money for other construction projects.
The hospital argued that Brooks gave it unrestricted access to the $500,000 donation and only later asked that it build a women's center and name it after his mother, Colleen Brooks, who died of cancer in 1999.
"Obviously we are disappointed, particularly with the jury's decision to award damages above and beyond the $500,000," Integris spokesman Hardy Watkins said. "We're just glad to see the case come to a resolution."
Brooks called the jurors "heroes" and said he felt vindicated by their verdict.
"I no longer feel like I'm crazy," he said.
Jury member Beverly Lacy said she voted in favor of Brooks because she thought the hospital went back on its word. As far as the punitive damages, she said: "We wanted to show them not to do that anymore to anyone else."
During the trial, Brooks testified that he thought he had a solid agreement with Moore. Brooks said the hospital president initially suggested putting his mother's name on an intensive care unit, and when Brooks said that wouldn't fit her image, Moore suggested a women's center.
"I jumped all over it," Brooks told jurors in tearful testimony. "It's my mom. My mom was pregnant as a teenager. She had a rough start. She wanted to help every kid out there."
His attorney told the jury during closing arguments that Brooks kept his end of the agreement.
"This case is about promises: promises made and promises broken," lawyer John Hickey told jurors shortly before they started deliberating. "Mr. Brooks kept his promise. Integris never intended to keep their promise and never built a new women's center."
But hospital attorney Terry Thomas said Brooks' gift initially came in anonymously and unrestricted in 2005. He also noted that Brooks couldn't remember key details of negotiations with the hospital's president - including what he'd been promised - when questioned during a deposition after filing his lawsuit in 2009.
"At most, it was a misunderstanding between these two," Thomas told jurors during his closing argument. "Am I calling Mr. Brooks a liar? Absolutely not. It's perfectly understandable that he does not remember these events."
The jury began deliberating Tuesday afternoon in Rogers County District Court, and the judge told jurors she wanted them to work as late as midnight to come to a decision.
Before the verdict was read, Brooks said the day had been emotional. The country music star said he was simply trying to honor his mother.
"This little pistol, she deserves nothing but good," Brooks said.

BELLAMY BROTHERS VIDEO IN FLORIDA EVERGLADES

BELLAMY BROTHERS FALL VICTIM TO GRAND LARCENY, VANDALISM WHILE SHOOTING MUSIC VIDEO IN
FLORIDA EVERGLADES

Thieves Break Into Bellamy Vehicles, Production Truck; Nab Personal iPad, Digital Camera, Thousands of Dollars Worth of Video Production Equipment

Nashville, Tenn. (January 26, 2012) – On a recent video shoot in the Florida Everglades, legendary country music duo The Bellamy Brothers fell victim to vandalism and grand larceny after their rental cars and production truck were broken into.

Thieves vandalized the Bellamy vehicles by prying open the door locks and stealing a personal iPad, digital camera and thousands of dollars worth of production equipment that was being used to shoot the music video.

“The police told us that most of the electronics were offered to a local pawn shop right after the theft but the owner turned the equipment down after suspecting it had been stolen,” says David Bellamy.  “Fortunately, the video cameras and guitars were not taken, probably due to their size.”

The “Let Your Flow Love” singers recently spent four days in several Florida locations, shooting four different music videos with Austrian pop music superstar, DJ Ötzi.  Shoot locations included the Everglades, Miami’s seaplane port and warehouse district and the Florida Keys.  The four videos were shot for upcoming collaborative releases for all countries in Europe as well as South Africa, Australia and Japan.

LEE BRICE GARNERS ACM NOMINATION
FOR
SONG OF THE YEAR

Singer Songwriter is grateful for
“Crazy Girl” Composing Recognition

Lee BriceNashville, TN - (January 26, 2012) – Curb Records recording artist and BMI songwriter, Lee Brice, was nominated today by the Academy of Country Music in the prestigious “Song of the Year” category for his composition, “Crazy Girl,” recorded by the Eli Young Band. Brice shares writing credit with collaborator, Liz Rose. “Crazy Girl” was Billboard’s No. 1 country song for 2011, and Brice’s well-known hit, “Love Like Crazy,” was the No. 1 song for 2010.
Reacting to the nomination, Brice said, “Liz Rose and I were just fortunate enough to be in the same room that magical day and wrote a magical song.  Within a few hours, the song came together. I’m so honored to be acknowledged along with these other amazing writers.” Brice also extends his congratulations to the Eli Young Band for their ACM nomination for “Single of the Year” for “Crazy Girl.” “I’m so happy for the Eli Young Band. They’ve worked so hard for so long, and they deserve all the success that’s coming to them.”
As a songwriter, “Crazy Girl,” released in 2011 on Republic Nashville, is Brice’s second No.1 hit. In 2007, he made history when another single he co-wrote, Garth Brooks’, “More Than A Memory,” became the first song in the history of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart to debut at No. 1. This also marks the fourth ACM nomination for Brice as he was nominated last year for “Song of the Year” for “Love Like Crazy” and as both an artist and producer for “Single Record of the Year” for “Love Like Crazy.”  His current single, “A Woman Like You,” from his upcoming album to be released this spring, is at No. 24 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

Michael Martin Murphey Hits #1

Michael Martin Murphey’s
 TALL GRASS & COOL WATER
Cowboy Songs, Volume 6 / Buckaroo Bluegrass 3
Hits #1 on the Top 20 Western Music Albums Chart

Nashville, TN (1.24.11)  MICHAEL MARTIN MURPHEY’s album, TALL GRASS & COOL WATER, Cowboy Songs Volume 6 / Buckaroo Bluegrass 3 hit #1 this month on the Top 20 Western Music Albums Chart of the Western Music Association. Previously the album hit #4 on Billboard’s Top 10 Bluegrass Album Chart.

TALL GRASS & COOL WATER continues the connection between Cowboy and Bluegrass music that began with his Grammy® nominated BUCKAROO BLUE GRASS album and continued with BUCKAROO BLUE GRASS II.  The third of the series, TALL GRASS & COOL WATER is a collection of songs that are cowboy in theme yet played in a style that is compatible with the sterling bluegrass musicians he's brought together including Sam Bush, Ronnie McCoury, Pat Flynn, Charlie Cushman, Andy Hall, Andy Leftwich, Troy Engle, Mike Bub and Craig Nelson.

Music critics certainly have applauded the album saying:

"TALL GRASS & COOL WATER is a musical tribute to the culture, history, intrigue and stories of the west. Every buckaroo with some nostalgia for the prairie needs to corral a copy of this album. The bluegrass instrumentation is as blue and big as the Texas sky, and the cowboy songs are perfect for listening to around the campfire after a long day on the trail.” Joe Ross (CD Insight, Roots Music Report).

“Once again, Murphey has released an album that serves as a history lesson, but one that you’ll look forward to taking!” - Music News Nashville

“Michael Martin Murphey has created a sub-genre of bluegrass that he calls Buckaroo Bluegrass.  Basically, it is cowboy music with a bluegrass beat.  If you like both cowboy music and bluegrass, you should really like this.” - Owensboro-Messenger Inquirer

“The Smithsonian should create a medal for artists like Michael Martin Murphey. He has earned himself a distinct place in country music history with his albums that almost singlehandedly keep the cowboy song alive. The music he makes, the stories and language that music preserves, and the true spirit of the cowboy culture that he carries on, is an achievement as great as any in modern times.  With his new release Tall Grass & Cool Water, he continues to explore the connection between cowboy and bluegrass music; these songs are cowboy in theme, yet played in a bluegrass style.” Parcbench

“Tall Grass & Cool Water is a marriage made in heaven.” - Post Gazette (MA)

“On TALL GRASS & COOL WATER, Michael Martin Murphey proves again that he is one of the original stars.   His bluegrass sound is at once gradiose, warm and optimistic.  One of the best albums of the year!” - John Shelton Ivany – JS Top 21

MICHAEL MARTIN MURPHEY just wrapped up his annual Cowboy Christmas tour, selling out 18 of 20 halls in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Colorado.  Upcoming performances include the Victoria Fine Arts Center (Victoria, TX), Western Folklife Center (Elko, NV), Central Washington University Music Center (Ellensburg, WA) and many more.  For more information on MICHAEL MARTIN MURPHEY including additional tour dates, please visit:  MichaelMartinMurphey.com
