Grand Ole Opry Classic Collection

Grand Ole Opry Classic Collection

Stand By Your Man - Tammy Wynette, Ring Of Fire - Johnny Cash, Crazy - Patsy Cline, The Race Is On - George Jones, Coal Miners Daughter - Loretta Lynn, Elvira - The Oak Ridge Boys, Love Is Like A Butterfly - Dolly Parton, Green Green Grass of Home - Porter Wagoner, For The Good Times - Ray Price, El Paso - Marty Robbins, Statue of a Fool - Jack Greene, Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old) - Garth Brooks

1. Dancin' With No Music Playin' 4:09 2. Got A Little Thing For Me 3:25 3. That's How I'll Remember You 3:10 4. I Want To Be In Your World 4:35 5. Wounded Heart 4:00 6. Here Comes Love, There Goes My Heart 3:28 7. I Can Let Go Now 3:01

Der Volksmund sagt weniger ist manchmal mehr. Aber im Fall einer CD kann das nun wirklich nicht gesagt werden. Gerade einmal 7 Songs sind auf dem Album „I Want To Be in Your World“ von Lee Greenwood zu finden. Ok, die Songs sind nicht schlecht. Eine Mischung aus Country und Country Rock, aber ist das nicht etwas wenig?

Randy Thompson New CD "COLLECTED"

Randy Thompson's New CD, COLLECTED, Set For Global Release On January 24

Featured Musicians: Mike Auldridge, Rickie Simpkins, Garrick Alden & the late Don Helms
Randy Thompson - Collected CD cover
"I wanted this to be the album that you'd play in the car when you're driving down Route 66 with the windows wide open." - Randy Thompson
Nashville, TN (December 19, 2011) With a Virginia bloodline that traces back to the early 1700s, singer/songwriter Randy Thompson gives true meaning to the term "roots music." Like his musical antecedents, Thompson tends to draw inspiration directly from personal experience, creating starkly drawn musical and lyrical pictures.  COLLECTED, set for global release January 24 on Jackpot Records, brings the best of Thompson to disc, and his presentation is glorious in its gritty reality.

Fifteen tracks comprise COLLECTED; 12 older songs given new insights, and three new tracks: Twang This, You Can't Talk To Me Like That, Bring On Down The Rain.  Randy composed new melodies and altered the lyrics of two old Virginia folk songs (Goin' Down To Lynchburg Town and Ol' 97) to freshen them, and included two outside songs on the disc: Rocksalt & Nails (B. Utah Phillips) and Molly & Tenbrooks (Steve Gillette/Linda Albertano).  Combined with Thompson's originals, the project forms a wide-open window to the heart and soul of an American troubadour.
For Thompson, the new CD is a humble offering to the fans who, he says, "Chose the songs themselves.  These are the tunes that my fans ask for again and again at my shows." There are a few ballads (Don't You Remember, Bring On Down The Rain), but the bulk of the material is more mid to up-tempo Americana country rockers. Regardless of tempo, Thompson's gritty baritone captures the listener, while his unerring guitar work and compelling pen continue to justify his ever-expanding fan base.
Thompson gathered top-notch musicians for COLLECTED.  Players include: Grammy-winning Mike Auldridge (Seldom Scene, Lyle Lovett) on Steel; the late Don Helms (Hank Williams, Sr.) on Steel (on one of his last sessions); Rickie Simpkins (Emmylou Harris, Robert Plant, Buddy Miller) on Fiddle and Mandolin; Colin Thompson (Randy's son) on Slide, and Garrick Alden (one of guitar great Danny Gatton's favorite pickers) on Lead Guitar.
Randy's roots run far and deep, and COLLECTED is a natural evolution from his 2008, FURTHER ON, a disc that pushed Thompson to near-cult status; generating heavy spins on Sirius XM and hundreds of radio stations across the U.S., Europe and Australia.  The disc spawned three Top 5 International HotDisc Chart singles, several European tours, national television exposure, a movie soundtrack appearance and an NPR radio special.

Fans can log on to for more information on Randy and his music.

Hillbilly Heaven Opening at Silverado Lounge in Tasmania

Hillbilly Heaven Opening at Silverado Lounge in Tasmania
Friday December 16 saw the opening of the Hillbilly Heaven Show at the Silverado Lounge at the Australian Axeman’s Hall of Fame at Latrobe in Tasmania’s north.

Proudly supporting the event was two of state’s most widely recognised home-grown country music talents, international artist Jean Stafford and equally renown in the music world in Australia legendary guitarist Stuie French, who just recently confirmed a tour schedule in the US in 2012.

Promoters recently decided to extend entertainment to Friday nights on a monthly basis after the success of the Peoples Choice Awards Shows on Thursday nights at the same venue, and will cater to a broader local market for line dancers with an added inclusion of a mechanical bull and a mainland artist.

Now Sydney based for several years, Stuie appeared with his wife Camille in the duo Stuie and Camille backed by the Stuie French Band.

Audiences were also entertained by the showmanship of The Stafford City Jam Band, under an alias as the Butt Sliders Band, opening the show with some great Texan tracks.

The fans welcomed their own Jean Stafford to the stage with the Butt Sliders, singing many of her latest hits and a few from the early part of her career

The highlight of the evening was the last hour of the show when Jean Stafford, Stuie & Camille joined the Butt Sliders on stage for a raging 60 minute set covering many songs Stuie had performed on Jean’s road show in the early 90’s when he first moved to Sydney and became an integral part of the Jean’s Boys for five years.

‘It was like turning the clock back for Jean, Stuie and Rob Brown with the great talent of Camille with them’ the group agreed.

Jean and Camille swapped harmony lines and sang duets together with some awesome picking between Stuie and Dave Hawkins from the Butt Sliders band, two great guitar slingers.  A highlight was the amazing version of Steelin’ Corn at a hundred kilometres an hour!

Excitement and commentary from fans flowed after the show.  Most of the comments confirming a great concert and one, no doubt memorable over time.

Interview with DRUNKEN PRAYER

Interview with DRUNKEN PRAYER

Lamitschka:  Music has many new fans throughout Europe who may be hearing about you for the first time. How would you describe yourself and the music you play to someone who has never seen or heard you?

DRUNKEN PRAYER:  My music is honest, un-ironic americana; meaning there’s a heavy dose of traditional folk, blues, country and soul. Most listeners tell me the music is dark with a New Orleans flavor.

Lamitschka:  How was the last year for you? What were your highlights?

DRUNKEN PRAYER:  This past year I was signed to Fluff and Gravy based in Portland, Oregon. My first release with them was a red vinyl 7“ Christmas record.

Lamitschka:  What is your latest CD and how's it doing?

DRUNKEN PRAYER:  My latest CD, Into the Missionfield, will be released in February in February. So far the reviews have been glowing.

Lamitschka:  How did you choose the title for the CD?  Is there a story behind the name?
DRUNKEN PRAYER:  There’s a sign that hangs at the exit of many churches that reads “Smile you’re entering the mission field“. I like that sentiment, the idea that, in life one is on a mission. The missionfield is concious life itself.

Lamitschka:  Do you write the songs yourself? If not, how do you go about finding the songs for your CD?

DRUNKEN PRAYER:  I wrote all the songs myself. “Ain’t No Grave” is a traditional gospel song that I adapted to original music.

Lamitschka:  Please tell us about the songs on your album (influences, etc).

DRUNKEN PRAYER:  As mentioned earlier my music is based in of traditional folk, blues, country and soul music. However the music I listen to on a daily basis is a little more modern: Phosphorescent, Eels and Mugison.

Lamitschka:  What is the difference between your last CD and your current one?

DRUNKEN PRAYER:  The new record is more elaborate and orchestrated.

Lamitschka:  Your current single is being played by radio. What do you feel is special about this song that makes people want to hear it?

DRUNKEN PRAYER:  It’s catchy and fun at first listen, but lyrically deeper upon further inspection.

Lamitschka:  What will your next single be?

Lamitschka:  What kind of songs do you like to record the most?

DRUNKEN PRAYER:  The more challenging ones that require more thought and improvisation.

Lamitschka:  You did a duet with Catherine Irwin (Freakwater). How did that happen to come about?

DRUNKEN PRAYER:  She’s a dear friend, we are mutual fans of each other.

Lamitschka:  Who inspires you musically and how deep do your musical roots run?

DRUNKEN PRAYER:  Very deep: my mother is a folk singer; her father had a jazz band until he died; Jerome Kern was a great, great uncle.

Lamitschka:  What do you think about today's music scene versus its post and where do you see it going in the future?

DRUNKEN PRAYER:  Technology has made our era one of the best ever for an independent musician.

Lamitschka:  What do you think about today's music industry?

DRUNKEN PRAYER:  At best the music industry is a necessary evil for distribution and financing. At worst, a parasight feeding on the work of the inspired.

Lamitschka:  What can your fans expect to see when they see you in concert?

DRUNKEN PRAYER:  An honest tune. Sometimes Drunken Prayer is a big, full electric band, sometimes simply me and an acoustic guitar.

Lamitschka:  Many music fans today get their information about artists online. Do you have your own website and what will fans find there?
