Jeremy McComb Releases NEW Music!

Jeremy McComb Releases NEW Music!
LEAP and the net will appear
On Sale NOW!

Nashville, TN-- McCombOVER Records' Jeremy McComb treated fans and industry insiders alike to long-awaited music from his brand new EP, LEAP and the net will appear at The Rutledge in Nashville, TN.

McComb performed the show as a special "thank you" to his fans who helped make the project happen through donations using Kickstarter.com. He has also been performing "live" from his living room on the popular online "virutal venue" StageIt.com and McComb's performance from The Rutledge was also streamed live to his StageIt audience.

"My fans kept asking me for new music. I would perform it live for them but they always wanted to know when they could 'have' it.  I knew I needed to find a way to record a new project and Kickstarter.com was perfect," says McComb. "I'm very active online, I llike talking directly with my fans. If you see a Facebook status, a post on my website or a Tweet, it comes directly from me. I've been really fortunate to have built up a really good network of fans online and at my live shows.  They asked me for new music, so I asked them for help and they came through for me. I'm also very appreciative of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey for sponsoring my showcase at The Rutledge and a big thanks goes out to the folks at Epiphone guitars for endorsing me as well," says McComb.

Two of Jeremy's fans REALLY came through for him.  Kimberly and Andrew Beattie of Couture Cakes made a cake in the shape of Jeremy's Epiphone guitar as well as an amp. They also constructed an actual Fireball bottle, complete with  shot glasses, made out of sugar and traveled all the way from Chattanooga, TN to bring it.

LEAP and the net will appear was produced by McComb, Tim Lawter and Rusty Milner (former members of the Marshall Tucker Band) and includes songs co-written by McComb with Bart Allmand, Travis Howard, Kevin Kadish, Keesy Timmer among others. The EP is available on iTunes and other music sites.

You can have your music and eat it too! The guitar, amp and CDs were made into a cake and the Fireball bottle and shotglasses were made of sugar!

Montgomery Gentry Reveals Backstory

Montgomery Gentry Reveals Backstory on a Damn Good Song
Co-penned by Adam Fisher

Country Outlaw Adam Fisher landed his first major cut as a songwriter on Montgomery Gentry’s brand new album, Rebels On The Run. You can now hang out with Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry and get the inside scoop as to why they recorded Damn Baby.

Damn Baby, which is track 3 on the new album, was co-written by Adam, successful songwriter Philip Douglas (Craig Morgan, Emerson Drive, Clay Walker, Lonestar and #1 Aaron Tippin’s smash hit Kiss This) and hit songwriter Bernie Nelson (Trace Adkins, Pam Tillis, The Oak Ridge Boys, etc).

“It’s a different twist on a romantic song…a very cleaver twist on a way to tell somebody special how good they look,” said Troy Gentry. “A guy’s love song!”

Visit their YouTube page and check out Eddie and Troy Talk Rebels On A Run or go to the direct link www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDAeewkOOK4 . We would love to have your feedback posted on this page. Please login to YouTube and comment on “Damn Baby” to help spread the word about Adam’s first major cut as a songwriter!

Hot off the heels of his current single Freight Train, Adam is moving full speed ahead. His self-titled EP, which features three tunes co-written by Adam, was produced by Grammy-nominated Eric Paul (Willie Nelson, Towns Van Zandt) and highlights his musical influences of Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Dave Matthews and Elvis.

Adam’s first single, Cotton Town, impacted radio and received amazing reviews, including one from Music Row’s renowned music critic, Robert K. Oermann. He is ready to take a risk and give his fans something new and different to love. Performing since the early age of thirteen, this good ‘ole boy has a rocking edge and the confidence and stage presence of a seasoned performer. Steel Guitar News

Hello fellow players,

Let me start this letter off this week by telling you of one of our visitors. The great B.J. Cole of steel guitar recording fame in London, England spent a few hours with me on Monday. I am very appreciative and familiar with his playing and was very glad to meet him along with being able to talk with him as I had many questions about the recording scene in London.

B.J. has done many magnificent sessions with artists such as Sting, Elton John, Robert Plant, REM, Bjork, Roger Daltry, The Verve, Depeche Mode, Beck, Elvis Costello, David Gilmore, Brian Eno, Robbie Williams, Moody Blues, Olivia Newton John, Tom Jones. This would be a thirty page newsletter if I listed all of his credits. I loved his playing on Tiny Dancer with Elton John. Excellent production.

B.J. is very knowledgeable about steel guitar and has been playing his entire life. B.J. also has a very unique approach, a wide open mind and can play about anything. I’m so glad to see these great English acts use steel guitar and especially use a steel player with the attitude that B.J. has. B.J. has several steel guitars that he uses of several different brands and I remember him expressing that Cline and Emmons as his favorites.

He is a very intelligent man with a great sense of humor and no matter how many times he visits, it will always be interesting when he does. When he left here, he was on his way to meet with Lloyd Green. I’m sure that was a good visit too.

Here is a link to his website: http://www.bjcole.co.uk/. I encourage each of you to listen to great players like B.J. Cole because much can be learned by studying the masters of the instrument as well as by watching teaching videos over and over.

I had several great young players come in to visit and restock their steel guitar goodies for the fall playing season. Eddie Dunlap, Pat Severs, Mike Daly and Chad Udeen are all regular visitors and great players of the present day that know where to spend their dollars.

It seems like I’m not the only one that wants to save the history of the golden age of steel guitar and the big western swing bands. The chief of these western swing bands was the great Hank Thompson. He had two steel guitarists during most of his career. Both played triple neck Bigsbys. One player’s name was Peewee Whitewing and the other was Bob White, not to be confused with the fiddle player in the same band with the same name.

Peewee Whitewing was a pretty astounding player. Peewee had three eight string necks with a Bigsby guitar and Standel amp combination and of course, the legendary Bob White also used a triple neck Bigsby with Standel amp. Bob had two ten-string necks and one eight string neck.

Bob is no longer with us, however his daughter, Snow White is writing a book about Bob which I think everybody should find very interesting as Bob was quite a wonderful character, loved everybody as everybody loved him. I only hope somebody writes a book about Peewee Whitewing, his compadre from the same band. As I’ve said before, two nicer guys there never were. The band had many great arrangements.

Bobby Garrett was also a steel player in this organization in later years, as were Gary Hogue, the almighty Curly Chalker and Bert Rivera.

The future may be looking good for us doing some serious instruction here at Steel Guitar Nashville.

THE MCCLYMONTS FEATURED THIS WEEK IN THE CMA

THE MCCLYMONTS FEATURED THIS WEEK IN THE CMA COUNTYMUSICMONTH.COM’S “NEW ARTIST SPOTLIGHT”

Twitter Alert to be sent out Today from @CountryMusic,
Official Twitter Handle of the Country Music Association (CMA)

The McClymontsNashville, TN (October 27, 2011) – Throughout the month of October, or Country Music Month as proclaimed by Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, the CMA’s Countrymusicmonth.com is highlighting five new artists each week. Aussie sister-trio, The McClymonts, are featured October 24-30 with @CountryMusic to tweet the “New Artist Spotlight” today. Brooke McClymont had this to say, “After moving to Nashville only five months ago, to be named by the CMA as this week’s ‘New Artist Spotlight’ is simply amazing to us. What an honor. We would like to thank the CMA and to also take this opportunity to thank the Nashville music community, country radio and the media in general for being so kind to us since we got here. We are having the times of our lives - and the best is yet to come.”

In October of 1964, Country Music Month was created by the Country Music Association to honor the format and to bring additional awareness to the industry’s landmark events including the formation of the CMA and the anniversary of the WSM Grand Ole Opry. Numerous states followed suit and eventually several Presidential Proclamations also recognized October as Country Music Month. Now, Tennessee officially celebrates October as Country Music Month and the Country Music Association has a full campaign of events, promotions and activities to support it, culminating with The 45th Annual CMA Awardson Wednesday, November 9. As one of promotional efforts surrounding the month, CMA launched Countrymusicmonth.com. Each week the site highlights five CMA Award Nominees and five new artists. The McClymonts are honored to have been selected for the “New Artist Spotlight” by such a prestigious organization.

On August 23, The McClymonts released Wrapped Up Goodin the U.S. The album is produced by industry heavyweights Nathan Chapman (producer for Taylor Swift's Taylor Swift, Fearless, and Speak Now) and Adam Anders (Executive Music Producer for Fox TV's Glee.) Last year, Wrapped Up Goodwas #5 on the Australian country charts  (#1-2 Taylor Swift, #3 Lady Antebellum, #4 Keith Urban) outselling Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney among others. For the past four out of five years, this sister trio won Best Group at the Country Music Awards of Australia. At the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards, they picked up Best Country Album in 2008 and 2010.

Now the girls have turned their attention to the U.S. In 2010, they opened for Jason Aldean on his fall tour. Recently they have been touring throughout North America to support the U.S. release of their album and had the great honor of being invited to play the Grand Ole Opry. On September 9, they made their Opry debut and were immediately invited back to play again on September 30. This month the girls continue promotion of their album and their current single “Wrapped Up Good,” with visits to radio stations and national media outlets, NPR’s Weekend Editionand The Better Show.
