BamaJam Farms Fall Festival - Where God and Country CoincideEnterprise, Al. (October 12, 2011) -- People who bought tickets to the now cancelled Bama Jam Music and Arts Festival can look forward to another event.  And organizers of the new event – Fall Festival at Bama Jam Farms – say your ticket is still good and is worth more than what you paid for it.  Here’s how:
  • Customers WHO HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED A TWO FOR ONE ticket voucher to next year’s Bama Jam can now redeem that voucher for a  5 for 1 ticket to Fall Festival.
  • Customers WHO HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY REFUND can exchange their Bama Jam ticket for a 10 for 1 ticket to Fall Festival.
Fall Festival at Bama Jam Farms will take place October 29th and will feature hay rides, a hay maze and a helicopter will fly/over and drop prizes for children ages 7 & under.  The event will also host  musical performances by Country stars Darryl Worley and John Rich and Grammy award winning Contemporary Christian mega-group MercyMe.  The Festival is designed to offer fun for the entire family, promoting traditional American family values.

“I am excited to be back in Enterprise, Alabama,” says Darryl Worley.  “It’s time for the community to have an event like this, where God and Country coincide.”

The Springs, a local, up-and-coming Country-Christian group will also perform at Fall Festival.  The Springs have recently been in Nashville recording a new album.

Earlier this year, organizers announced they would cancel the Bama Jam Music and Arts Festival for 2011, but that they looked forward to Bama Jam 2012.

The Voice of Germany startet am 24.

Oktober auf Universal Music / We Love Music.

Year after year, night after night, when it comes to showing fans a good time whether it’s on the road or on the radio, Strait always delivers the kind of country music fans nationwide hunger for.  This year he’s invited another award-winning country music superstar to join him on stage – Martina McBride.

“I love Martina. She’s been on our tours before and she’s great,“ commented Strait.  “I’m really looking forward to the tour. Martina will definitely make it a special night.”

Strait’s 39th studio album HERE FOR A GOOD TIME received rave reviews and recently debuted at Number One on the Billboard Country Album Charts (his 3rd number one album debut in a row) and #3 on Billboard Top 200 Chart.  The title track “Here For A Good Time,” written by Strait, his son Bubba Strait and songwriter Dean Dillon, is Strait’s 73rd Top 5 hit out of 89 career singles and sits at Number 2 this week on the Billboard and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts.

“Obviously with each new album, Strait proves he's not living off the heat from those first initial hits,” says Houston Chronicle while USA Today reports “Strait hasn't lost his touch for finding astonishing material...”

George Strait has the most number one singles of any artist in history including Elvis (57 to date inclusive of all charts).  He has sold nearly 69 million records and with 33 different platinum or multi-platinum albums has the most RIAA platinum certifications in country music and the third in all genres, behind The Beatles and Elvis Presley.  He is the only artist who has had 84 out of 89 radio singles make it to Top 10 (57 to Number One) and 24 albums at the number one position on Billboard’s Country Music Album Chart.

Daniel Glen Timms – Life An Illusion

Daniel Glen Timms – Life An Illusion

1. Thirty Thousand Days 3:10 2. Lover of Herself 3:34 3. Troubled Son 3:34 4. Do It Right 3:56 5. Dream All Day 3:46 6. Wild Blue Ocean 4:48 7. Luminous Sky 3:36 8. My Dogs 2:45 9. Cumberland 4:34 10. Life's An Illusion 4:57

Vince Gill sings in support of Nashville

Vince Gill sings in support of Nashville, country music

He’s such a pleasant sort. Back when Gill hosted the CMA Awards (motto: “We’re still kind of, sort of different from all those other country awards shows”), he lent a folksy, casual air to the proceedings. And throughout his career — a career that has landed him in the Country Music Hall of Fame — he has shown an ability to laugh at himself, to support fellow musicians rather than take sides in whatever petty squabbles are going on, and to remain affable, kind and funny.

I tried to railroad him on the phone, when I called the day after Hank Williams Jr. got the Monday Night Football yankeroo for comparing President Obama to Adolf Hitler. I figured I’d surprise Gill with an impossible-to-answer-without-looking-like-a-jerk question. It’d be my entry into gotcha journalism.

“Would you compare the president more to Hitler, or, say, Stalin?” I asked.
“I’m not sure. Ask the Dixie Chicks,” Gill answered, then chuckled.

Alright, so he’s unflappable. Cannot be flapped. But still, intense.

An ever-present icon

Gill works on his craft each day, seldom going 24 hours without playing guitar. He obsesses over improvement, focusing on getting better even years after his legacy has been ensured.
“After I got to town, (Country Music Hall of Famer) Harlan Howard said to me, ‘Kid, you’re a great singer. And you’re a pretty good songwriter,’ ” he recalled. “I said, ‘OK, I get what you’re saying.’ I always remember my worst reviews, because if you’re smart enough, you can learn from them and take them as motivation. Not as in, ‘I’ll get even,’ but I knew I could learn something from the criticism. I worked on it and got better.”
Gill has won four CMA song of the year prizes, which isn’t bad for a guy who was supposed to be a singer and musician first and a songwriter second. Or would that be third? Or maybe fourth, behind singer, musician and doer-of-good-works. On Thursday, Oct. 13, Mayor Karl Dean and the Nashville Predators will honor Gill for his charity work and for his role as an ambassador of the city and of its spunky hockey team.

He’s a fixture at Preds games, where he and wife Amy Grant stomp their feet, swig beer and hurl foul invectives at opposing players.

Wait, no, I’m thinking of Taylor Swift.

Actually, Gill is just a well-behaved fan with a well-known face, and he played guitar at the sold-out All For The Hall concert (“All For The Hall” is an initiative he spearheaded, to raise dough for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum) while wearing a Preds jersey.

His charity, of course, extends beyond hockey rinks and halls of fame.
Googling “Vince Gill” and “benefit” lands you more than 1.5 million results. His friend Nanci Griffith actually calls him “Benefit.”

If it’s a worthy cause, chances are Gill has picked and sung in its support: flood relief, mental health, children’s advocacy, Alzheimer’s research, cancer research (What kind of cancer? Pick a cancer, any cancer), AIDS research, housing initiatives… Someone needs to explain to Gill that ubiquity is a profit-buster, that being everywhere in support of every good thing puts an end to the mystique that is supposed to go part-and-parcel with fame.
Actually, plenty of people have explained that to Gill. And his response is a rather intense, “So what?”
“People theorize that you water yourself down if you make yourself available for everything, but at the end of the day, it’s always worth it for me,” he said. “Why wouldn’t you help if someone asks you to and you can? It’s just like if there were people at the record label saying I shouldn’t be singing on Reba’s records, or Sara Evans’ record or all those other records. It’s what I’ve always done, and if I suffer because of it, it’s OK with me. I’ll be the anti-star, I guess.”

Challenging music

The anti-star’s new album, Guitar Slinger, comes out on Tuesday, Oct. 24. It’s full of songs from his own pen, songs of a compositional and lyrical level far above what Gill could muster three decades ago, when he left Pure Prairie League and went to work in Rodney Crowell’s backing band, The Cherry Bombs. On paper, that one looked like a foolish transition, but Gill knew that being around musicians the caliber of Crowell, drummer Larrie London and bass man (and, now, producer) Emory Gordy Jr. would force him to raise his game.

“Everything I chose to do in my career was a chance for me to get better,” he said. “Joining the Cherry Bombs was a giant leap forward, musically. And that’s still my reason for doing the things I do today.”
Among those things: Joining classic country and western swing revivalist combo The Time Jumpers, with whom he plays Monday nights at the Station Inn, and joining Sting for a CMT Crossroads episode that’s set to air Nov. 25.

“With The Time Jumpers, I’m finding myself challenged in a big way as a guitarist, and it’s great for my learning curve,” he said. “And the Sting thing was fantastic for me. To me, he’s Beatle-like in his talent. And his music is difficult: It was a chance to learn into something that was out of my comfort zone. We wound up really hitting it off, and I think they got a great show out of it.”

In truth, Gill is never far from his comfort zone when he’s got a guitar in his hands.
Recorded at his home studio, his new album is filled with six-string adornments and with songs that find Gill referencing his own life and times.
The album-ending “Buttermilk John” is a tribute to his late steel guitar-playing pal John Hughey, who played the signature steel intro on Gill’s hit single, “Look At Us.” “Billy Paul” is a troubled letter to a troubled friend who took his own life, and the album-opening title track is a statement of purpose and fact.
“I swear, I’ll play for free,” he sings.
And he does play for free, for the benefit of others in his city of Nashville and elsewhere. He plays for free, with intensity, and still feels intensely well-paid in the end.
Reach Peter Cooper at 615-259-8220 or pcooper@tennessean.com.

Gill’s new album, Guitar Slinger, will be released Tuesday, Oct. 24. www.vincegill.com

Gill recently recorded a concert for the CMT series Crossroads with Sting. The special, which features the two singing each others’ hits, airs Nov. 25, the day after Thanksgiving. www.cmt.com

HANK WILLIAMS JR’S NEW SINGLE “KEEP THE CHANGE”

HANK WILLIAMS JR’S NEW SINGLE “KEEP THE CHANGE”
LOGS NEARLY 150,000 FREE DOWNLOADS IN A LITTLE OVER 24 HOURS
Bill Maher, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sean Hannity, Alan Colmes
and Glenn Beck all show support for Hank Jr
Hank Williams JrNashville, Tn (October 11, 2011) -- Hank Williams Jr released a new single “Keep The Change” to his fans yesterday, and close to 150,000 have responded in just over 24 hours. Fans, friends and media are all downloading the free song, which has received placement on such notable websites as Hannity.com, Alan.com (Alan Colmes), KidRock.com, countless radio stations and many others.
“Artists have launched tens of thousands of email-for-download campaigns but Hank's 'Keep The Change' is the fastest growing campaign we've ever seen!” - Ian C. Rogers, CEO, Topspin.
Hank discussed the popularity of the song on ABC’s The View today, where he was questioned about last week’s now-famous controversial remarks from Fox & Friends. Those comments resulted in ESPN pulling his musical intro to their Monday’s football telecasts. Left-leaning hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar of The View, Jon Stewart of The Daily Show, and Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh from the other side of the political landscape all came to his defense last Monday.
“Hank has always been provocative ... and said provocative things”, said Whoopi.  “What kind of standards are we holding folks to when we say ‘Oh no, you can’t say...’ We can’t say ‘listen man, that’s not a good thing to do’ so instead we pull... Is that the right thing?” “Those among us who are without sin, cast the first stone,” Goldberg said.
“He was making a comparison...” said The View co-host Joy Behar.
“I think every American has the right to voice their opinion,” said co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck.
“I don’t think you should be kicked off tv just for expressing yourself,” said Bill Maher on his HBO weekly show Real Time, in reference to Hank’s comments last week.  “I am defending this guy.”
“What?  They pulled the song?? We count on him to gauge our nation’s football readiness.  If anything just give ‘em a slap on the wrist,” said comedian Jon Stewart. “By the way ESPN... you’re shocked? By Bocephus’ comments?  You know, he’s been at ESPN for twenty years - have you met him?  ... It’s Bocephus, man.  He’s got a song about how things would be better if the south had won. The guy fell 442 feet off a mountain, cracked open his skull so bad he had to hold in his own brain and survive... Don’t act all ‘oh, my goodness’ when he says something down-home and gritty.  That’s what he’s there for.”
Williams decided early last week to end the relationship with ESPN, making the trip to New York today to discuss his reasoning and the topic with various national outlets.
“Mickey is a mean mouse, and he has stepped in to ‘that pile’...” Hank said today, in reference to a quote from President Harry Truman, when asked about the fallout during today’s segment on The View.
“America is a country of choices  - we have choices and options - and I have choices and options.” Hank said.  When asked if he would stay out of future political discussions, he responded “How am I gonna do that? We want you to be President, we want you to be Senator ... I ain’t got time - I wanna go fishing!”
Hank is scheduled to appear tonight on Hannity (Fox News Channel) at 9pm ET / 8pm CT and will also appear on tomorrow’s Joy Behar Show (HLN) 10pm ET.

About Hank Williams Jr.
With more than 70 albums to his credit, Williams has a fascinating career to reflect upon for a legend still in his prime.  His discography chronicles a bold profile of growth from adored offspring of a legendary father, to titan of the modern country rock movement in his own right.  For two decades, America came to its collective feet each fall Monday night when this larger than life superman of a musician looked into the camera and unleashed the national anthem for viewers of Monday Night Football - 'Are you ready for some football?'  Those simple words have won Williams an entirely new generation of fans and given him the distinction of being the first country performer to ever win an Emmy.  Williams has also been named Entertainer of the Year five-times, and most recently was the recipient of the 2009 Academy of Country Music "Pioneer Award".
