Nashville, TN (August 18, 2011) -- The up-and-coming Bluegrass brother/sister duo, The Roys, are set to host the world-famous Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree on Saturday, September 17.  The live broadcast kicks off at 12:00 Midnight and streams on www.wsmonline.com.

David McCormick, CEO of Ernest Tubb Record Shops, is excited to be bringing some new talent to the venue.  "It's been a long time since we've had anyone like The Roys on our stage," he says.  "I think they're going to do very well. Lee and Elaine deserve everything I know that will come their way." For The Roys, who grew up listening to the Jamboree, hosting the show is a dream come true.

Lee and Elaine are finding dreams do come true.  Their recent hit, "Coal Minin' Man" rocketed up the Bluegrass charts, landing at #1 on Power Source's Top 35 Bluegrass Chart, # 1 on HotDisc International Top 40 Chart, and is currently #4 on Bluegrass Music Profiles' Top 30 Hot Singles Chart and #5 on Bluegrass Unlimited's Top 30 Song Chart.  The track is the first single from their critically-acclaimed Rural Rhythm Records debut CD, LONESOME WHISTLE, which debuted at #7 on BILLBOARD's Bluegrass Albums Chart, and is currently #5 on Bluegrass Music Profile's Top 15 Albums Chart, #7 on Cashbox Magazine's Top 20 Bluegrass Albums Chartand #23 on The Alternate Root's Top 66 Bluegrass Album Chart.

The two-time Inspirational Country Music Duo of the Year kicks off  IBMA's World of Bluegrass Week 2011 with a September 25 performance of the National Anthem at the Tennessee Titans' football game. The appearance is their first NFL game opener.  The Roys recently opened for Lady Antebellum at Country Thunder Festival  USA (Twin Lakes, WI) and have been busy all summer, performing during CMA Music Fest (Nashville, TN), Blue Moon Mountain Bluegrass Festival(Prestonsburg, KY), and more. They've also been touring with country songstress, Janie Fricke, and more joint shows are scheduled.  Upcoming shows include Dollywood's Show Street Theatre (Pigeon Forge, TN); Dogwood Park Concert Series (Greeneville, TN); Purple Fiddle (Thomas, WV); Heroes Music Festival (Hampton, GA); Kentucky Renaissance Fairsite (Eminence, KY); University of Wisconsin Theater On The Hill (West Bend, WI), and Tennessee Fall Homecoming (Clinton, TN).

The Roys are active supporters of COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL, and Lee and Elaine have been involved with the organization since early 2010.  Last Summer, the two traveled to Bogota, Columbia, South America to experience first-hand how the programs are implemented, and this year, they are urging their fans to get on board via the CI Respond With Compassion campaign.

The Kentucky HeadHunters Release First Single From Dixie Lullabies

The Kentucky HeadHunters Release
First Single From Dixie Lullabies

NASHVILLE, Tennessee — The Red Dirt Music Company
has released “Great Acoustics”, the first single from
The Kentucky HeadHunters’ forthcoming album,
Dixie Lullabies, on ITunes.

Their first studio album since 2003, Dixie Lullabies
picks up where the HeadHunters left off  - creating
their own unique Southern Rock blend of Alternative,
Blues, Country, English Rock, Rockabilly
and even Jazz. The album is set for release
on October 18.

“Facts is facts,” wrote noted writer Holly Gleason
in a recent column for NoDepression. “The Kentucky HeadHunters are a great rock band, filtered through
the British/blues-based rock and roll of the Yardbirds,
The Who, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Frankie Miller and Long
John Baldry.  Twenty years after being the biggest thing there was, it appears the Kentucky HeadHunters are on the verge of being what they were meant to be: a slamming rock/roots band that fears no corner at any speed.”

Ed Sheeran: Single: The A Team

Ed Sheeran

Single: The A Team
VÖ: 28.10.2011

6 Wochen UK #3
Meistverkaufte Debüt-Single des Jahres!
Rekord-Newcomer
ED SHEERAN
startet durch mit
„The A Team“
Jools Holland liebt ihn und  Kult-DJ Zane verpasste der Single The A Team den Titel Hottest Record In The World.
Oktober erscheint The A Team als Single.
Roger Cicero: Single: In Diesem Moment

Roger Cicero

Single: In Diesem Moment

'Killer Sounds' also.

Album: Bossa & House Experience
VÖ: 19.08.2011

Welcome to the beats! Welcome to Bossa & House Experience! Welcome to the joy of life!
Duane Harden („You Don’t Know Me”), Mousse T. & Suzie – „All Nite Long (D.I.S.C.O.)”  und Duck Sauce („Barbra Streisand”) - und alle natürlich in State-of-the-Art-Clubmixen!

Steel Guitar News

Hello fellow players,

I’m going to tell you a story today that proves you should always stay up on your playing game because you never know what kind of a job offer is going to come along. I was sitting at home one evening when my cell phone started to ring. I did not recognize the number but decided to answer it anyway since the commercial was on, on the TV show I was watching.

The strange voice on the other end said, “Mr. Seymour, I’m in a rather well-known rock n roll band from England and I am getting married next Saturday and need some entertainment. I asked where and he told me and I recognized the address as being a very posh section of Nashville.

So I said, “I guess the whole bands gonna be there, huh?”

He explained, “Yes, this will be a pretty high class event with several record label types being present along with several international tour managers.”

I said, “Just exactly what do you want me to do?”

He said, “I want you to play in the reception area and I promise you’ll enjoy it.”

I said, “Well, it doesn’t sound like a good deal to me, but what does it pay?”

He said, “Twelve hundred dollars.”

To which I replied, “Yes. You’re right. I think I’ll enjoy it.”

I said, “Who am I going to be working with?”

His reply was, “No one.” He said, “You’ll be doing a solo.”

I said, “And you know I play steel guitar, right?”

His answer was, “Oh yes, we are all very familiar with you.”

I said, “Well what do you want me to play? What style? Do you want me to play just Hawaiian?”

He replied, “Oh no. Play everything.”

Well anyway, this was about the strangest request I had ever gotten, so here I was accepting a job to play a solo in the middle of Nashville’s finest, ritziest section for cream of the crop, big money international musicians and to do so for a pretty good sum.

I started to say no, then I said, “Well, give me directions and the exact time and I’ll be there.”

I showed up about an hour before and unloaded my guitars, amps and anything I thought I might need to dazzle, amaze and bewilder the educated audience. As I was walking inside with my first load of equipment, I was shocked to have some folks come up with a strange accent that seemed to be quite familiar with my playing.

After setting up, they invited me to the food bar which was very exotic, but it didn’t take long to get used to the caviar, lobster and oysters Rockefeller. I started off my part of this extravaganza playing some big band tunes as soft and sweetly as I could. Here Comes That Rainy Day, Tenderly, Misty, until somebody said, “Pick it up and give us some excitement.”

So I said under my breath, “Here I am all by myself playing a wedding reception for what could be known as some of the world’s finest rock musicians with support teams, their record label executives and they want me to play something a little swingier.”

So I did some Sunshine Superman, Moanin’ and Watermelon Man and about the time the crowd was really getting into what I was doing, they said, “Hey, we have a country singer here that we hired also, named Clay Canfield.”

I said, “Good. Get him out here.”

I had never met Clay and was not familiar with his work, but he came out in an old slouch, beat up cowboy hat, dressed clean, but looked like he’d just gotten off the range. He said, “Do you have an amp I can plug into?”

I thought “Uh oh. This can go either way now.” But the crowd started screaming, “Good. Do some country.”

Clay broke into Workin’ Man Blues. The crowd started dancing, clapping and yelling. I thought, “Holy cow! They aren’t used to hearing this, but they are loving it.”

Clay and I entertained them together for about an hour and a half, then Clay went on break to hit the exotic food bar again. I had filled up but decided to make the announcement that I’d play anything they wanted to hear. I had many people line up with suggestions, many of which were rock songs from the sixties. Everything from Magic Carpet Ride to I’m Not Lisa.

I thought, “I’ll never be able to pull this off.” But forty five minutes later, most of the crowd had pulled their chairs up as close as they could to me, watching my hands and feet and knee levers and seemed totally fascinated.

Then Clay came back and we totally ruled the night. Even though I had great success, I was very glad Clay was there. Finally about one in the morning people started wandering up and telling us good night. We finally started shutting down, they handed me my check and Clay got his check which both checks were for twelve hundred dollars for a total of twenty four hundred dollars.

I told him we should form a duo and go on the road. He replied, “As long as we can do these things around Nashville, we don’t need to.”

Naturally these great jobs don’t happen every day, but I’ll have to admit they are very lucrative. Between the friends I met, the food and the money, I’m glad I’m a steel guitar player. The moral of the story is, keep your chops up, be prepared to do any job at any time and let everybody know that you’re able to do any job at any time and I’m sure some nice surprises will come your way.

Summertime is a great time to be surprised with wonderful jobs from out of the blue. If you’re in the union in your local area, you might let them know what you can do or what you want to do and possibly they can steer some work your way. Just don’t expect every job to be a Ray Price sound alike band or gig.

You don’t have to be a professional musician to have a lot of fun and make some decent money with your guitar. Just have the right attitude and say yes to everything. Just remember, it is your practicing alone at home by yourself where you can learn all these things you need to know to play solo jobs.

Effects can make your guitar exciting if you use them correctly and learn a lot of different kinds of music. There are some wonderful blues, rock standards and classic songs that everybody will know and you can be highly loved and pretty well paid for playing them at times.

Guys, give me some feedback here. I’d like to find out how much interest there would be if I did a series of videos showing how to do solo gigs and what specific questions you would like answered if I did do such a series.

Check out our monthly specials at http://www.steelguitar.net/monthlyspecials.html and we’ll try to save you a lot of money.

Nashville, TN (August 18, 2011) -- The International Bluegrass Music Association Awards Ballot for 2011 is official.  The Grascals' head into the final voting with a total of four nominations:  Entertainer of the Year,  Song of the Year,  Recorded Event of the Year and band member Kristin Scott Benson, reigning three-time Instrumental Performer of the Year (Banjo), is in the running for that honor again this year.  Winners will be announced at the organization's 22nd annual awards show, scheduled for September 29, 2011 (7:30 p.m. CDT), at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium.  The ceremony will be broadcast live on SiriusXM's Bluegrass Junction.

"It's always an honor for us to be nominated for any award," says Jamie Johnson, co-founder of The Grascals. "It's especially gratifying to know these votes came from our peers."  Johnson, one of the writers of "I Am Strong," adds:  "The kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital really touched our hearts.  I'm just so proud that the song seems to resonate with so many folks, and we were so fortunate that Dolly agreed to join us on the record."  The track is from THE GRASCALS & FRIENDS - Country Classics With A Bluegrass Spin disc (on BluGrascal Records), a special project produced in conjunction with (and sold only in) Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® and online at www.crackerbarrel.com. Cracker Barrel donated a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each CD to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The disc reached the #1 spot on Billboard's Bluegrass Albums Chart, and has held a position on that chart for 27 weeks.

The Grascals are a Grammy-nominated group founded in 2004 by Terry Eldredge, Jamie Johnson, Danny Roberts and Terry Smith.  The band has a shelf-full of awards already, including:  IBMA Entertainer of the Year 2006 & 2007, 2011 SPBGMA Instrumental Group of the Year, and 2010 SPBGMA Bluegrass Band of the Year.  They've made over 100 Grand Ole Opry appearances, and some of this year's media coverage includes: Better TV, The Talk, Fox & Friends, GAC-TV's On the Streets, The Daily Buzz, CMT's Southern Fried Flicks With Hazel Smith, RFD-TV's Larry's Country Diner, and Inside Music Row

Shawna Russell Highlighted in CMA Close Up Magazine

Country Artist Shawna Russell Highlighted in CMA Close Up Magazine Feature Entitled ‘Baby Brands’

Russell's Sponsorship Deals with Sheplers, Mach Tech Speed MP3 Players and AirPlay Direct Are Examined

NASHVILLE, TN (August 18, 2011) – Way Out West Records’ artist Shawna Russell is featured in the current edition of the CMA Close Up magazine in a story that focuses on new  artists who have successfully attracted brands to sponsor and endorse them - and how the parties benefit from the creative partnerships.

Russell’s relationships with the Shepler’s western wear retail chain, Mach Tech Speed MP3 players and the digital delivery service, AirPlay Direct are examined, as well as examples of brand endorsements currently enjoyed by new duo, Rosehill and MCA artist, Ashton Shepherd.

Russell is currently touring radio promoting her latest single “Get Right Or Get Left” from her recently released self-titled sophomore album.

Her busy performing schedule includes a coveted slot opening for The Judds at their sold-out show on Saturday, August 20, at the Choctaw Event Center in Durant, Oklahoma.

About Shawna Russell:

Shawna Russell released her self-titled sophomore album in June 2011. She is currently promoting the lead single and video “Get Right Or Get Left.” A second release from the album “Sounds Like A Party” climbed to #3 on the European charts in late May of this year. Strong early reviews
for the album have came from Roughstock, Music News Nashville, Today's Country Magazine, Oklahoma Gazette, Maverick and others.

Russell first came on to the national and international music scene with the release of her debut album, GODDESS (Way Out West Records), in 2008, for which she co-wrote 12 of the 13 songs. Critical acclaim followed: the CMA named her “Who New to Watch,” and top music critics weighed in with praise for her debut. Chris Neal of COUNTRY WEEKLY gave GODDESS a 3 ½ star review, MUSIC ROW’s Robert K. Oermann bestowed a “DISCovery Award,” his highest compliment to a new artist, and rave reviews followed from CMA CLOSE UP, MAVERICK (UK), NASHVILLE MUSIC GUIDE, DREAMWEST (France), THE OKLAHOMAN, MUSIC NEWS NASHVILLE, COUNTRY STARS ONLINE and others.

Three radio singles, "Goddess," "Should've Been Born With Wheels" and "Fire In The Desert" cemented her status as a contender, with action on the Billboard "New and Active,' Music Row and Texas Music Charts. Shawna toured radio stations across the country where her talent won coveted performance and interviews for her on KBEQ-Kansas City’s highly-rated morning show with Mike Kennedy; Atlanta’s powerhouse WUBL; and on Washington DC’s “Voice of America” – which broadcasts to an international audience. Shawna's debut video "Should've Been Born With Wheels" reached the #1 position on the “Ya’llturnative” chart at Ya’ll Wire.com and stayed there for over a month and also attracted fans at CMT.com, AFN, GAC.com (debuted at #3 as a “Top Pick”) and on Pulse Network Television (“Top 20 Country Chart” for 3 months).

Lyrics for Lyric July 2011

The eighth installment of the Lyrics for Lyric benefit concert series took place on July 26th at Roosters Texas Style BBQ and Steakhouse in Nashville, Tennessee in front of a packed house.   Each month the show is filled with some of today’s most talented and established artists from Nashville, representing different genres within the music industry.  Proceeds from the show go to benefit the Lyric Frizzell Cancer Foundation.  At only ten months old, Lyric Frizzell was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of leukemia.  The Foundation helps to defray costs related to cancer treatments and expenses of children fighting cancer.
Featured in the July show was Bo Bice, Ken Mellons, and Dean Miller, among others.  The show kicked off with Bedhed and Blondy performing their own distinctive style of Americana/Folk/Alt-Country.  They were followed by Tommy Barnes, known for writing #1 hits for Hank Williams, Jr., Little Texas, and Tim McGraw.  Also on the stage with Tommy Barnes was Bryan Simpson, John Austin McDaniel, and Dean Miller.   A terrific blend of voices, smooth melodies, and soulful rhythm made for a great round of music.
The featured round of the evening came when Ken Mellons, Bo Bice, and Chris Caskey took the stage.  Ken Mellons, the “Juke Box Junkie”, set the tone with his smooth baritone.  Bo Bice, American Idol Runner-Up to Carrie Underwood, rocked the stage and displayed masterful guitar licks.  Chris Caskey rounded out the set with his original melodies, and a beautiful rendition of his single, “God’s Pocket.”   One of the night’s highlights came when Ken began singing the Lefty Frizzell tune “I Never Go Around Mirrors.”  Chris joined in to sing a verse, and Bo added guitar and harmony, bringing the crowd to their feet afterward.
Lyrics for Lyric is scheduled monthly, with the next installment coming August 23rd.  Stay tuned for more updates each month from this popular show and benefit.

DAILEY & VINCENT SNAG THREE 2011 IBMA AWARD NODS

DAILEY & VINCENT SNAG THREE 2011 IBMA AWARD NODS

GRAMMY-nominated Bluegrass Duo Earn Nominations for
IBMA Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year

Jamie Dailey Nominated for IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year

Nashville, Tenn (August 18, 2011) – Yesterday evening, Rounder Records duo Dailey & Vincent, the IBMA’s (International Bluegrass Music Association) reigning Entertainer of the Year, earned three award nods at the organization’s 2011 nominations ceremony.

From Nashville’s Loveless Barn, the 2011 IBMA Award nominations were announced, with Dailey & Vincent claiming ground in three of the organization’s top finalist categories: Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year (Jamie Dailey).

"Though we were unable to attend last night's ceremony due to our tour schedule, we’d like everyone to know how excited and humbled we are to be nominated within these categories," says Darrin Vincent.

Jamie Dailey adds, "We'd like to thank the IBMA and all of its members for the support they continue to provide for us.  As for our September competition, it would be an understatement to say we're in good company."

Recipients of the 2011 IBMA Awards will be announced at the organization’s 22nd annual awards show, scheduled for September 29, 2011 (7:30 PM CDT), at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium.  The ceremony will be broadcast live on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction.

To date, GRAMMY-nominated Dailey & Vincent has earned a total of 12 awards from the IBMA, including three consecutive yearly wins for Entertainer of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year (2008, 2009, 2010).  Jamie Dailey took home the Male Vocalist of the Year honor in 2008.

In 2011, Dailey & Vincent, sponsored by Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, has kept the Bluegrass tour trail red hot.  The group will have performed at over 100 live concert dates by the year’s end.   Earlier this month in Jonesboro, Arkansas, the duo joined Country Music Hall of Famers Kris Kristofferson and George Jones at the Johnny Cash Music Festival where they played to a sold-out crowd of 7,000.  The festival raised $310,000 that will be used for the restoration of Johnny Cash’s boyhood home in Dyess, Arkansas.

Next month, Dailey & Vincent travel ‘across the pond’ for international concert dates in Ireland and Switzerland.  On September 8, while touring Switzerland, the band will make a special stop in Bern for a private 9/11 tribute performance for several heads of state and United States Swiss Ambassador Donald Beyer.

The duo recently recorded with fellow Tennessee native and Country music legend Dolly Parton on her latest album, Better Day, providing their signature Bluegrass harmonies on several tracks.

Earlier this year, Dailey & Vincent earned their first GMA (Gospel Music Association) Dove Award, becoming the 2011 Bluegrass Album of the Year recipient for their Gospel album, Singing From the Heart

Dailey & Vincent’s most recent project, Dailey & Vincent Sing the Statler Brothers, can be purchased exclusively at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.
