Wills And Team Showcase Shooting Lifestyle In High-Energy Program
Set To Air July 31 on VERSUS

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 21, 2011)—Award-winning Country recording artist Mark Wills, fresh from releasing the most impassioned album of his career last month (entitled LOOKING FOR AMERICA), celebrates the return of “3 Gun Nation.” Wills, who is an avid marksman and gun collector, signed on to participate in the show’s inaugural season in 2010 and is excited to act as host once again throughout the 2011-2012 season.

The “3 Gun Nation” season premiere is scheduled to air on Sunday,
July 31, 2011 at 6:30AM Central/7:30AM Eastern on VERSUS. The episode’s premiere airs regularly on Sunday mornings at 6:30AM CST/7:30PM ET and repeats every Monday (8:30AM Central/9:30 Eastern) and Friday (9:30AM Central/ 10:30AM Eastern). The program’s dynamic format features the match-up of novice and professional marksmen competing in some of the most action-packed and difficult stages of shooting.

“Most folks know I am a firm believer in our Second Amendment right to bear arms and I enjoy my time shooting,” Wills explains. “It’s great spending time with the guys and gals who are also shooting enthusiasts, but the main reason I participate is to educate novice shooters on technique, and most importantly, safety. Plus, it’s a program I would personally tune into to watch.”

The 2011-2012 season aligns with some of the nation’s “3 Gun’s” most recognized events including the Superstition Mountain Mystery 3-Gun in Mesa Arizona; MGM Ironman in Parma, Idaho; Adams Arms Ozark 3-Gun in Missouri as well as the FNH USA 3-Gun in GlenGary, West Virginia.

Each major 3 Gun Nation event closes with a dramatic, head-to-head, single elimination shoot-off wherein one winner will walk away with $5,000. Shooters accumulate points throughout the season based on match performance, and the top 50 are eligible to compete in the year-end championship following the FNH USA 3-Gun match held in November. The grand prize winner will take home a $25,000 grand prize courtesy of Leupold Tactical Optics.

The program, brought to viewers by FNH USA, Surefire, Federal Premium Ammunition, Cheaper Than Dirt!, Stag Arms, Ruger, Otis and the National Shooting Sports Foundation, allows for in-depth tutorials and interviews with some of the sport’s best 3-gunners while showcasing the unparalleled competition through a variety of matches nationwide. Shooting divisions include Tactical Optics, Tactical Iron, Heavy Metal and Heavy Metal Optics. With high stakes and higher prize money, “3 Gun Nation” promises an edge-of-your-seat season.

About “3 Gun Nation”
The National 3 Gun Association, through media properties “3 Gun Nation Television” and, was formed with one mission: to promote practical shooting by shining a light on amateur and professional shooters alike, as well as the guns, gear and lifestyle that define the high-octane sport of 3-gun competition. Bringing never-before-seen cash payouts to the table, 3-Gun Nation is quite simply changing the game. 3 Guns. One Champion.

Red Hot Chili Peppers: Single: The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie (Radio Edit)

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Single: The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie (Radio Edit)

The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie, das am 18.
The Subways: Single: We Don't Need Money To Have A Good Time (+ A German Version)

The Subways

Single: We Don't Need Money To Have A Good Time (+ A German Version)

Also tarieren sie die nachdenklichen Songs geschickt mit Party-Nummern wie den Hit-Singles We Don’t Need Money To Have A Good Time oder It’s A Party aus, um ihr fantastisches drittes Album perfekt auszubalancieren. „No reservations, no hesitations, no bad reactions, just celebration – we don’t need Money to have a good time... forget our worries and do what we like!“ Positives Denken wider kollektive Verdrießlichkeit, gute Laune mit... THE SUBWAYS!
MiMi: Single: Lonely One + Easy (Radio Mix)

Single: Lonely One + Easy (Radio Mix)

Was geschieht hier bloß?
„I ain’t got no one, I don’t want no one, I’m a lonely one“, verkündet MiMi energisch zum stampfenden Beat von Lonely One.
Wolf Gang: Single: The King And All Of His Men

Wolf Gang

Single: The King And All Of His Men

Auf dem seit jeher coolen Hit Club Label veröffentlichte Max schließlich The King And All Of His Men, bevor er schließlich bei Atlantic gesignt wurde.
Avalanche City: Single: Love, Love, Love (Album Version)

Avalanche City

Single: Love, Love, Love (Album Version)
VÖ: 16.09.2011

Avalanche City is the epitome of lo-fi pop perfection: delicately woven chords wrapped around honest words of dedication that are guaranteed to warm the heart of the true music fan.
David Baxter is an artist who so passionately felt the need to create his own music, he dedicated the entire past year to slowly learning how to sing, play, record and perform – the result being a unique perspective and a tender voice just ripe for the moment.
Avalanche City is the brainchild of Dave Baxter, a musician whose background stretches across many genres and influences, culminating in a sound that is an impressive and eclectic range of various instruments, melodies and harmonies. The depth and perspective create a dynamic atmosphere that is rich and raw all at once. The epicentre of Avalanche City is Baxter himself, who writes, conceives, produces, records and plays every instrument on this debut album ‘Our New Life Above The Ground’.

Cobra Starship

Single: You Make Me Feel ... (feat. Sabi)
VÖ: 02.09.2011

Tiefdruckgebiete? Unwetterfronten? Sintflut? Verhagelte Urlaubsstimmung? F*uck it! Mit ihrer brandneuen Singleauskopplung „You Make Me Feel... (feat. Wurde auch höchste Zeit: Mit „You Make Me Feel...“ erscheint am 2. Cobra Starship!

Steel Guitar News

Hello fellow players,

It seems as though many of you really wanted those questions answered that I answered last week. Im glad to hear that. I would be more than glad to answer any more in the future, but first I want to relay a small story about a master guitar player that I ran across when he was but a mere child at 17 years old.

I had an incredible sharp little country jazz band working out of Colorado Springs and while we were going from one place to another in the southwest, we stopped at a club in Albuquerque. We went in and there was a great little western swing band playing. I went up to the band leader and asked him if the three of us could sit in. He said absolutely.

So I sat my Fender 1000 up and the other two members of my group, Joe Allen and Mike Elliott setup and started jamming on the great western swing song Hang Your Head In Shame. Everyone was very impressed with what we were doing including the band.

Suddenly on one turn-around, the little 17 year old guitar player in the group broke into one of the finest jazz passages I had ever heard. As soon as the band finished up their nightly duties, the rest of us musicians sat there and played until the wee hours of the morning. I finally just got up and sat in front of this guitar player whose name was Louie Shelton.

Fifty years later after having a great career in Nashville, I saw the name Louie Shelton on movie credits and on several album credits and just recently googled the name to see if he was alive and well and in this search engine. Much to my surprise, he had many mentions in google.

So I contacted Louie and just recently have continued our long lost friendship. If any of you care to look him up, please feel free to do so. There are some wonderful YouTube clips of Louie playing and I assure you he is not over-rated in any way. As a matter of fact, heres the link to his website and tell him Bobbe sent you.

Heres a question from Jim Gardner

Okay, so here's a question for you to answer next week. . . . What with all the "blending" of music types these days (example: Western swing styling "blending" or mixing with traditional country music styling, etc.), and having a double neck in front of you ----- what influences you to choose the neck - E9 vs. C6 - to play a particular song/tune - even an instrumental? I know some players may use both necks on one piece of music, but predominantly, a player is likely to "pre-select" one neck or the other to play. What influences you to decide that.... "this song will sound better on E9, or, I can make this sound better doing a C6 thing"... ???

This issue becomes more significant if a steel player is freelancing and plays with different artists, or bands, and not just one band or artist all the time. A studio player would be a good example, too. JD

The answer is I personally never, ever even consider playing western swing on anything but a C6th neck. C6th is strictly to play pure western swing music without playing in a country Bud Isaacs style. All the great pioneers of western swing never had steel players that played E9th. The great western swing players that pioneered western swing like Tom Morrell, Maurice Anderson, Billy Bowman, Bob White, PeeWee Whitewing, Curly Chalker, to name a few, never played E9th in western swing bands.

The great bands like Spade Cooley, Bob Wills, Tex Williams and Bill Wimberley wouldnt even hire you if you played like Nashville. So naturally, anytime youre playing any material by these great bands, play western swing only on your C6th neck (or possibly some E13th) with as much punch and drive as you possibly can.

If you need a very smooth flowing triad style of music where one chord flows into another with a lot of sustain and tone, E9th is the way to go. Tunes like Sweet Memories, anything ever recorded by Ray Price, Webb Pierce, Vince Gill. Smooth, beautiful and simple is E9th.

I hear a lot of people say, I dont need a double neck because I dont play any C6th. Then you are only playing half a guitar. It is possible to play some substitute C6th things on an E9th tuning and some guys do it fairly well, but it seems to me like its a lot faster to learn it in its conventional way of playing it.

Both styles, both tunings have their place and do their jobs well. Im just one of those players that cant even think about playing a live four hour job on just one neck. Both styles are steel guitar and if you play one, you can sure learn the other. Dont cut your talent in half.

If you need help figuring out the other half of your talent, then check out my Instant C6 videos here

The style of music that I record in my albums is usually governed by my buyers that I sell to. Let me know what style you would like to have me do. I have done many albums already, but I dont mind doing another one. I can do western swing, gospel, hard country, soft country, big chord C6th jazz or something completely outside of the box like Rhythmatic. Im going to let my readers make the decision about what Im going to do on my next album. Just hit reply and tell me what youd like to have me do musically.

Interview with Blackberry Smoke

Interview with Blackberry Smoke

Lamitschka: Country Music has many new fans in Europe, who may be hearing about you for the first time. How would you describe yourself and the music you play to someone who's never seen or heard you before.

Blackberry Smoke: We call it "southern music."

Lamitschka: How was the last year for you? What were the highlights?

Blackberry Smoke: We've enjoyed tons of highlights, not the least of which are playing sold out shows with Zac Brown Band, Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd. We signed to Zac Brown's label, Southern Ground Artists.
On a selfish note, I had the great fortune of singing a duet with Mr. George Jones himself at the Ryman Auditorium!

Lamitschka: What's your latest CD and how's it doing?

Blackberry Smoke: Our latest release is "Little Piece Of Dixie." It's hangin' in there like a hair in a biscuit.

Lamitschka: How did you choose the title for the CD, is there a story behind it?

Blackberry Smoke: No story really. It is what it is, a "little piece" of where we come from.

Lamitschka: Do you write the songs yourself and if not, how do you go about finding the songs for the your CD?

Blackberry Smoke: I wrote some of em', we co wrote some of em', and a few were written by other people. Those were presented to us by friends and we loved them. We've never looked for songs elsewhere, but a good song is a good song.

Lamitschka: Please tell us about the songs on your album.

Blackberry Smoke: They are pretty honest. Just songs about life, really. No abstract ideas to speak of.

Lamitschka: What's the difference between your last CD and the current one?

Blackberry Smoke: The last one was a collection of demos, with the common thread being their "honky tonkishness". It was a stop-gap between full length albums, in a way.

Lamitschka: Your current single is being played by radio. What do you thing is special about this song that makes people what to hear it?

Blackberry Smoke: It is really a "good time" song. Maybe it makes people forget about their problems for a few minutes.Plus, that's us and only us playing and singing it.

Lamitschka: What will your next single be?

Blackberry Smoke: A song off our next album, which we are recording now.

Lamitschka: What kind of songs do you like to record the most?

Blackberry Smoke: All of em.

Lamitschka: You did a duet with George Jones and Jamey Johnson.. How did that happen to come about?

Blackberry Smoke: We recorded "Yesterday's Wine" with George Jones and Jamey Johnson. I asked Jamey to do it with us and he said yes. Our friend in Alabama, Billy Graham, asked Mr. Jones and he said yes. It was beautiful.

Lamitschka: What's your favorite song among all the songs you've recorded and what's the story behind it?

Blackberry Smoke: I wrote one called, "The Only Thing She Left Behind" and we recorded it live with one mic and a cassette 4 track. It is very low-fi and cool. Definitely one of my favorites.

Lamitschka: How much creative control do you have over your music?

Blackberry Smoke: We've pretty much always had the last word.

Lamitschka: Who do you look up musically and how deep do your musical roots run?

Blackberry Smoke: We love everything that is real. Most of that is pre-1975 I guess. Bill Monroe, Charley Patton, Hank Williams, The Stones, Little Feat, Willie Nelson, Leon Russell, on and on and on….

Lamitschka: As an artist you have to do so many different things such as recording, touring, doing interviews etc. What do you like best, what's your favorite activity?

Blackberry Smoke: Playing live is definitely what we live for. That's the payoff at the end of the day.

Lamitschka: Are you doing anything to take country music beyond it's current borders or are you happy where it is?

Blackberry Smoke: We're just trying to make good music and be true to ourselves and our fans.

Lamitschka: What drives you?

Blackberry Smoke: Chasing the great song, and loving music so deeply.

Lamitschka: What's unique about you that differentiates you from other artists?

Blackberry Smoke: I hope it's our honesty. And the lack of the two things above.

Lamitschka: Who's your biggest critic, yourself or others?

Blackberry Smoke: Sarge Lamphier.

Lamitschka: When you get time off, how do you like to relax?

Blackberry Smoke: We spend time with our wives and kids.

Lamitschka: What Prive hopes and desires do you have?

Blackberry Smoke: I wish I could play like Wes Montgomery. And slam dunk like Spud Webb.

Lamitschka: What can your fans expect to see when they see you in concert?

Blackberry Smoke: Good honest Southern music.

Lamitschka: Many music fans today get their information about artists via the internet. Do you have your own website and what will fans find there?

Blackberry Smoke: Yes, You'll find everything there.

Lamitschka: What's the best compliment a fan has ever given you?

Blackberry Smoke: That our music got them through a rough time in life.

Lamitschka: What's your favorite song that you wish you could have recorded?

Blackberry Smoke: Loving Cup by the Stones.
