GOVERNOR, FIRST LADY, COUNTRY LEGEND
TO SERVE AS FOLK FESTIVAL CO-CHAIRS
Haslams and Emmylou Harris
Already Helping With Huge Event
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, First Lady Crissy Haslam and Country Music Hall of Fame member Emmylou Harris have agreed to serve as honorary co-chairs for the 73rd Annual National Folk Festival, an event that is expected to bring tens of thousands of people to downtown Nashville on Sept. 2-4.
All three chairs have been helping with preparations for the huge festival. The festival is a not-for-profit event that will be free for the public. It is expected to draw a mix of out-of-town visitors as well as Tennesseans. Nashville won the right to host the festival for the next three years after an aggressive team recruiting effort led by Mayor Karl Dean.
“Crissy and I would like to welcome the National Folk Festival to Tennessee, and we’re excited it will be with us the next several years,” Haslam said. “This great state’s rich musical history makes it the perfect place to host this festival, and this will be a welcome contribution to the state’s economy from the large number of visitors staying in our hotels and supporting our businesses.”
“This is a free, family friendly event, and we look forward to sharing with our visitors all the great things Tennessee has to offer,” Crissy Haslam said.
Harris said the festival presents a diverse array of American music, has displays of American arts and crafts and offers dance performances, the best of local cuisine and plenty of family activities.
“I am very proud to be involved with this event, because it celebrates the best of our music across many different genres,” the 12-time Grammy Award winner said. “Some of the nation’s best traditional artists will perform, and attendees will find themselves amazed at the variety of entertainment they will experience. It is great that Nashville and the state of Tennessee were able to bring this here for three consecutive years.”
Nashville was chosen to host the festival from among 44 cities across the United States in a competitive selection process.
Created by the National Council for the Traditional Arts (NCTA) in 1934, the traveling National Folk Festival is the oldest and longest-running multicultural festival in the nation. It celebrates the roots, richness and variety of American culture through traditional music, dance, craft, storytelling and food, and is currently attracting the largest audiences in its long history.
The 73rd, 74th and 75th National Folk Festival in Nashville are produced by NCTA and Nashville Folk and Roots, in partnership with the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, the Arts and Business Council of Greater Nashville, the state of Tennessee, the Nashville Downtown Partnership, the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
The National Folk Festival is a celebration of traditional music and cultures from all over the United States. This free, three-day public event is estimated to have a $10 million to $15 million economic impact on Nashville per year.

GLEN TEMPLETON’S “I COULD BE THE ONE”
ENTERS BILLBOARD INDICATOR CHART WITH CONVICTION
Single To Be Featured On iTunes CMA Fest Sampler
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 18, 2011)—Nashville-based Capstone Music Group is pleased to celebrate the early radio welcome of Glen Templeton’s national radio debut entitled “I Could Be The One.” Officially released Monday, May 9, 2011 (CDX Vol. 522 / 4/25/2011 • PlayMpE--4/19/2011), the single entered the Billboard Indicator Chart at No. 59 and was the sixth most-added song at stations across the country. One short week later, the track jumped 12 spots to No. 47.
Digital outlets and music industry organizations have also embraced the Templeton tune; after sifting through thousands of submissions from various labels (major and independent), “I Could Be The One” was selected to appear on the official iTunes CMA Fest download sampler (2011). In recent festival years, iTunes street teams have assembled to hand out the download cards during “country music’s biggest week” offering free downloads from the country artists participating in the event. This year 40,000 cards will be distributed over the course of the four-day event. Glen and the other sampler artists will also be featured on a dedicated iTunes page that will highlight GT, his summer CD release, along with “I Could Be The One.”
The track comes from Templeton’s album entitled GT, his first studio recording (from Grammy award-winning producer/engineer Mark Lambert who has also worked on projects with Elton John, Willie Nelson, Ronnie Milsap, Trace Adkins and more) which features special guest performances by Leon Russell.
“The excitement and reaction to my single from the onset has been humbling,” Glen reveals. “Seeing the adds and listener responses has been such a thrill – thanks so much to country radio!”
Country fans who attend CMA Fest come from all over the world and become ambassadors when they return home– calling their local stations and becoming tastemakers for country radio worldwide. Providing music to these influential music enthusiasts will help spread Templeton’s music globally--making the opportunity a homerun for his single, album release, Summer-2011 tour dates and ticket sales.
Since the beginning of the year, Glen has been engaged in an aggressive radio promotion tour that will take him to 48 states.

Interview with Chase Rice
CL: I’m Christian Lamitschka and today I present you Chase Rice. Chase, welcome to the show!
CR: I appreciate it, thanks very much.
CL: Chase, most Americans know you, but the European fans might be hearing about you for the first time. Can you please introduce yourself to them, what type of music you’re playing and show us a little bit about your personality?
CR: Yes, my name is Chase Rice. I do a kind of a country rock thing. We got a new EP coming out, it’s called “Country Is Me.” It will be coming out March 8 on iTunes. I really love music. I love doing it. You might know me from the TV Show “Survivor.” I was on “Survivor-Nicaragua.” Now, it’s just all about music. I’m releasing an EP and doing shows. I’m really looking forward to getting the music out there.
CL: Chase, you have a new single out there, called “Buzz Back”. Please tell us something about this song and what inspired you to pick up this song.
CR: I didn’t pick up this song; I wrote the song. It’s called “Buzz Back.” I wrote it with Jesse Rice and Brian Kelley. It’s just a song about getting rid of a hangover pretty much. In the second verse, it talks about other ways to get your buzz back. Do you get it back by going out and having some drinks or do you get a buzz when you get a new girlfriend? Basically, it asks what do you do to get that everyday buzz. It’s got that cool feeling.
CL: Chase, what brought you to country music?
CR: I’ve been huge fan of country music my whole life growing up listening to Garth Brooks and Chris LeDoux. I’m a big Kenny Chesney fan as well. I started playing guitar my sophomore year in college just for fun. In my junior year, my dad passed away, so the only way to deal with that was to write a song about it. And I wrote that song, then another song, then another. People were liking what I was doing, so I just continued to do it. I never thought it would be a career, but right now it’s going well. This new EP coming out is going to be a real big for me.
CL: What’s more fun, to be an artist or a songwriter.
CR: Well I’m doing both and I’m having a blast right now.
