NASHVILLE – Country fans who long for a return to the magic of the Outlaw Movement and the blue-collar magic of artists like Merle Haggard, Connie Smith, and Waylon Jennings have just a few months longer to wait.

That’s because the veteran Missouri honky-tonk star and singer/songwriter Curtis Lyn Cook’s long-awaited new album Just My Luck is slated for a June release.

I’m not crazy about the direction new country is going. I grew up a Merle and Waylon fan,” CLC says in a phone conversation from his aptly named country hometown of Festus, Missouri in late March. “That music to me is timeless, it never gets old.”

Those who have been blessed to hear his songs like “Outlaws,” the autobiographical “What Country Boys Do,” and “Just My Luck” feel the exact same way about Curt’s music, and they have for years.

One of his greatest fans is the Louisiana riverboat captain and country songwriter Joe Kent. The two have become such good friends online that they are now business partners, and 10 of the songs on the new album will be published by Joe’s new Boat Trash Music.

Just My Luck also features CLC’s powerhouse versions of two covers: Merle Haggard’s beloved song about performing, “Footlights,” and longtime CLC songwriting bud and inspiration Gene Davis’s “Feelings.”

Outlaws,” Curt’s signature original with its Waylon-flavored guitar sound and CLC’s powerhouse baritone vocals, recently surpassed 14,500 Web views.

So Curt may be a high-tech Redneck these days, but his roots were pure country. He grew up in southeast Missouri, singing in church in a household where Opry stars like Connie and Hag were beloved.

When he was 7, CLC’s uncle brought home a Jumbo Western Guitar and told Curt that if he learned to play the Carter Family’s 1928 classic “Wildwood Flower,” the guitar would be his. He did, and it was.

Curt graduated high school in 1981 and in the mid-1980s moved to St. Louis, where CLC’s band packed clubs like South Forty every night during the country line dance craze. After a few years, Curt returned to his country roots, married the lovely Angie and together they had twin sons, and CLC became very successful again – this time in the transportation business.

But CLC’s passion for music kept burning bright, and in this period his unique, very personal Honky Tonk and Outlaw sound began to emerge.

Soon he found his voice as a songwriter, often influenced by top Music Row tunesmiths he’d met along the way including Earl Clark, Gene Davis, and CLC’s fellow Missourian Nick Nixon, who has since become one of Curt’s best friends and biggest fans.

I introduced myself to Earl Clark’s fiddle player,” CLC recalls. “I had a lot to learn, but I was willing and eager to learn what it took. I decided I was gonna play what I enjoy. That was Outlaw Country, anything with an edge and some twang.”

A key ally was guitar wizard Chuck Trollinger, still a stalwart in Curt’s band.

Chuck’s a genius, somewhere between Don Rich and Pete Anderson and Marty Stuart,” CLC says.

The Just My Luck set is the culmination of all these years of hard work, plus the joy of working with new Music Row connections including Captain Joe and Nashville Music Guide owner Randy Matthews, who also owns TCM Nashville Records.

I’ve spent 3 ½ years on the album,” CLC says. “We’re gonna do some marketing with it, and I’m real excited. It has 12 songs, 10 of which I wrote. I’m glad it’s taken this long to write and record this record simply because in doing so, I wrote 3 new songs that are now on the album that would not have been there otherwise.”
Curt then says something that in itself sounds like a country title, and shows a hint of what makes this guy’s songs so magic: “I’m tired, but I’m excited.”
So at long last, CLC’s fast-growing army of fans in Missouri, Texas, Tennessee, and around the world on the Internet will hear the latest and greatest music from a man who they’ll feel they’ve known their whole lives, even if they’re hearing his timeless music for the very first time.

NASHVILLE – In late February, the Louisiana skipper and songwriter Captain Joe Kent made Nashville and Music Row his temporary port of call, and his fast-growing fan base from all over the country stopped by to see and hear the latest musical chapter in Captain Jocephus’s sensational songwriting journey.

It was just a few months ago that Jocephus’s autobiographical song and video “Son Of The Highway,” filmed on board a riverboat he was driving down on the Delta, caught the eye and ear of Nashville Music Guide co-editor Kymberly Matthews, and the NMG feature on Joe that resulted quickly made every part of his Web presence explode and sent his numbers of fans and followers skyrocketing.

A link to that video is at the end of this release.

The “Son Of The Highway” video was dedicated to the late, great Merle Kilgore, the Music Row legend who was the first in Nashville to recognize and encourage Captain Joe’s talent. Many years and many miles – both on land and water – have passed since then, but this latest trip to Kilgore’s old stomping grounds showed just how far the captain has come in his music and his life.

Millions of fans knew of Merle not just as the co-writer on Cash’s “Ring Of Fire” (with June Carter Cash), but also as the manager and mentor to Captain Joe’s ultimate musical mentor Hank Williams Jr., aka Bocephus.

Another Jocephus hero therefore has been Tony Stampley, himself a native Louisianan and member of a royal family of country music as Joe Stampley’s son. Captain Joe has followed Tony’s songwriting career closely, since Stampley has penned over a dozen Hank Jr. songs.

On this trip, Captain Joe at last got to co-write with Tony, something he’d dreamt of doing for years.

Initially, I was a bit nervous because I knew this was the Tony Stampley,” said Captain Joe, who also was co-writing in Nashville for the first time after penning songs for decades on his own down home. “But Tony said, `son, just come up with some good lines.’ ”

Soon this new Dynamic Duo had done more than that. They had completed something very special called “The Party’s On.”

Country radio and Music Row will likely be paying very close attention to this new tempo number in the not too distant future.

That song is already being pitched around Music Row, to a great response,” Jocephus said. “Everybody loves it, and they are billing `The Party’s On’ as a hit.”

Not only that, once Jocephus got over his nervousness, he and Stampley became fast friends.

In between writing, we’d stop and swap stories. We’d talk about Merle Kilgore,” the captain says. “We found we had a whole lot in common. We spoke about God and our religious beliefs. I began to see that I was actually in my realm, I had found a friend and brother and shipmate in Tony Stampley.”

Meanwhile, Joe was very busy on the club and concert stage during his Nashville visit. His Feb. 23 performance at the Lyrics For Lyric monthly showcase at a jam-packed Pick’s is still being talked about, and the next night Tony invited Joe onstage at his own Songwriter’s Night.

Jocephus had family and friends and fans in town from nearly a dozen states, and countless more got to watch the Lyrics performance at Very few songwriters bring such a large number of followers and fans in their early Nashville visits.

Capt. Jocephus’s legion of fans and followers is rapidly spreading around the world, with new listeners and fans in Britain, France, Germany, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, and Russia – and new nations joining the crew every week.
I have found a whole new family up there in Nashville,” he says. “Kymberly, Joe, and Randy Matthews all made me part of the family. So did the people at Pick’s.”

And so did Joe’s meetings during the trip with Artist to the Stars Corey Frizzell; with Internet wizard Bob Coan of New Media Edge, whose photos of Joe and real-world advice proved indispensable, and with the whole NMG/TCM Records team.

Not only that, the captain is now a music publisher, with the aptly named company of Boat Trash Music.

He and the ace Missouri tunesmith Curtis Lyn Cook, who met on Facebook, have partnered in the new venture – which has a name not unlike Randy Matthews’s own new publisher, Oil Trash Music.

Cook, whose song “Outlaws” has been a Web favorite for years, asked Captain Joe if they could make Boat Trash Music the publisher for all the original songs on Curtis Lyn Cook’s soon-to-be released album.

That is the ultimate honor for me,” Jocephus said. “I was extremely surprised when he asked that.”

The captain also knows that publishing is a great deal of work, so he told Curtis Lyn that “I’ll be glad to publish your songs under Boat Trash Music under one condition, that you help manage and run the dang thing,” Jocephus says.

So Captain Joe sails into exciting new musical and music biz waters as summer comes, fresh off a hugely successful stop in Music City with many more Nashville visits on the horizon.

Nashville, Tennessee (April 21, 2011) – Big Machine Records duo, Steel Magnolia, Chevrolet and CBS Radio helped gather over 800 cell phones for Chevrolet’s “Cell Phones For Soldiers” campaign. The initiative raises funds to purchase pre-paid calling cards to send to soldiers serving abroad. Students from Ft. Pierce, FL’s John Carroll High School and Tampa, FL’s Braden River High School collected the most phones, winning acoustic performances from the hot duo, Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones.

“We really love this campaign. We know what it’s like to be away from home. Being able to connect our soldiers with their loved ones back home and play for these students who worked so hard for this cause is a win-win all the way around,” said Linsey.

“It was cool that Chevy supported this campaign and of course we love our friends at WIRK and WQYK who helped promote it,” said Jones.

John Carroll High School in Ft. Pierce beat eight other schools in the West Palm Beach area, collecting more than 500 cell phones that will be used to buy international calling cards for servicemen and woman across the globe. Just last night at Braden River High School in Tampa the River High Pirates raked in over 300 devices for the program. Steel Magnolia treated over 1,000 students at both schools to a free concert that included a performance of the Top 10 smash, “Keep On Lovin’ You,” and their current single, “Last Night Again.”

“This was a terrific way for our Chevrolet dealers to partner with local high schools for the benefit of our men and women serving overseas. ‘Cell Phone For Soldiers’ is a great organization and we appreciate Steel Magnolia’s partnership with this event,” said Tom Gilbert, Chevrolet Southeast Regional Marketing Manager.

Sandra Piller is Fixin' to Fly with new Single 'Fixin' To Fall'

Sandra Piller is Fixin' to Fly with
new Single 'Fixin' To Fall'

After excellent response at radio to songs from Sandra Piller's album, "Days Like These," she is releasing her next single to country radio. Entitled "Fixin' to Fall," the tune is "an upbeat love song that makes you want to dance," notes Piller.

Written by Jolene Kay Schmitz, the song lets Sandra really get into the fun and romance of the lyrics: "I'm fixin' to fall in love with you, My heart is slippin' into your eyes of blue." With strong bluegrass harmonies, the song also features solos on fiddle, Telecaster and piano.

The "Days Like These" album, released this year on Shady Hill Records, was recorded at "Cowboy" Jack Clement's studio in Nashville. The album's dozen tracks were produced by Jane Bach (writer of hits for Reba McEntire, Jo Dee Messina and others) and Executive Producer Clement (producer of hits for Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and a host of other country legends).

The story of how Sandra Piller came to record county music is one of inspiration, hard work and patience. Putting a singing career on hold in order to raise her family, she returned to her first love of music "a little later in life than the typical teen singer," as she puts it. With this, her newest album, she is moving ahead with a career that has already seen her named Country Artist of the Year from New Music Weekly magazine.

Most recently, her live show has added keyboardist and music director Loren Gold, noted for his work on large tours by Mandy Moore, Kelly Clarkson, Kelly Pickler, the Dancing With the Stars touring show, and the American Idol live shows.

The "Days Like These" album is available on iTunes, Amazon, and all the usual places for physical and digital distribution, with promotion and marketing headed by Harvey Cooper, former head of 20th Century Fox Records.

Flo Rida: Single: Who Dat Girl (feat. Akon)

Flo Rida

Single: Who Dat Girl (feat. Akon)

„Who Dat Girl (feat.
Hugh Laurie: Album: Let Them Talk

Hugh Laurie

Album: Let Them Talk

April 2011.
k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang: Album: Sing It Loud

k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang

Album: Sing It Loud
VÖ: 29.04.2011

Erstes gemeinsames Studio-Album “Sing It Loud” am 29. April!
Bassist Lex Price (Mindy Smith, Peter Bradley Adams) und Drummer Fred Eltringham (The Wallflowers) runden das Line-Up ab.
And Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) geehrt. Sie steuerte zahlreiche Songs zu erfolgreichen Soundtracks wie Even Cowgirls Get The Blues, Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil sowie Happy Feet bei und stand in Filmen wie Salmonberries, The Black Dahlia und Eye Of The Beholder selbst vor der Kamera.
Lupe Fiasco: Album: Lasers

Lupe Fiasco

Album: Lasers
VÖ: 29.04.2011

Ladies and gents, guys `n gurls, Mesdames et Monsieurs, meine Damen und Herren!
Skylar Grey und produziert von Alex Da Kid, bekannt von Eminems Hit „Love The Way You Lie“), akustischen Augenöffnern wie „All Black Everything“ oder „Out Of My Head“, einer Zusammenarbeit mit Labelkollege Trey Songz.
