COUNTRY & WESTERN FRIENDS KÖTZ 1982 e.V. laden am Samstag, den 30. April 2011

Howdy Folks,

Eintrittspreis: 12,00 Euro

FEEL WHO I AM - LIVE 2011 Graziella Schazad startet Tournee im Oktober

FEEL WHO I AM - LIVE 2011

„Feel Who I Am – LIVE 2011“ startet am 24.10. in München, zu den weiteren Stationen gehören u.a. Hamburg, Berlin, Köln, Stuttgart und Hannover. Bereits im Sommer sind Graziella Schazad und Band auf einigen Festivals live zu erleben. Aktuell im Handel erhältlich ist ihre Single „Safe“ sowie eine um vier Titel erweiterte Re-Edition des Debüt-Albums „Feel Who I Am“ (Warner).

GLEN TEMPLETON INTRODUCES HIS DEBUT SINGLE “I Could Be The One” Set For May 9, 2011 Release

GLEN TEMPLETON INTRODUCES HIS DEBUT SINGLE
“I Could Be The One” Set For May 9, 2011 Release

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 19, 2011)—Nashville-based Capstone Music Group has announced the official release date for newcomer Glen Templeton’s national radio debut. Templeton is set to release his first single entitled “I Could Be the One” ** on May 9, 2011.
(CDX Vol. 522 / 4/25/2011 • PlayMpE--4/19/2011)

A tongue-in-cheek sales pitch from a male’s perspective (written by Tom McHugh and Jay Knowles),  “I Could Be The One” is the ultimate “pick-up” song. The lyrics profess and confess: “I could be a rock-hard headed fool…hard to handle…I got a river-wide redneck streak...but I could be the one that’s the one for you...the arms…the heart…the one you could fall into…there ain’t no tellin’ what I could be…but I could be the one.”  Whether a “too-much-tequila mistake” or a “heart’s big lucky break," the single lays the cards on the table to explore the “possibilities.”  Peppered with rock guitar riffs, banjo pluckin’ and showcasing Templeton’s sexy-drawl vocals, this tune will be “the one” country radio fans request by name.

"The story is about a guy who makes no bones about his imperfections—the flaws most of us guys have,” Templeton introduces.  “As a matter of fact, he uses them with confidence to try to convince the gal that he could be ‘the one’ for her. “

The track comes from Templeton’s album entitled GT, his first studio recording (from Grammy award-winning producer/engineer
Mark Lambert who has also worked on projects with Elton John, Willie Nelson, Ronnie Milsap, Trace Adkins and more) which features special guest performances by
Leon Russell, who names Templeton as a contender: “I expect Glen Templeton to be the next major star in country music.”

Glen has been engaged in an aggressive radio promotion tour that will encompass 48 states. In the first leg of the campaign, he’s canvassed 20 states over the past five weeks (accompanied by reps Jamice Jennings and David Shaw) to visit with stations in Oklahoma, Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania, Missouri and Arkansas including KUBL, WGAR, WIVK, WDSY, KYGO and KBEQ/KFKF.

“We are pleased and overwhelmed with the response,” label head Lance Combs explains.  “We are truly encouraged by radio’s excitement.”

"Glen Templeton has got it all, the look, the sound and the song. He ‘could be the one!’ "
--Stoney Richards, APD/MD/Afternoons WDSY CBS Pittsburgh-Y108

Glen is signed with Buddy Lee Attractions for booking representation and has dates stacking up throughout the summer at major fairs and festivals as both a headliner and an opener for some of today’s biggest country stars. Hailing from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, his first big break came in 2008 when he was a “personal pick” by the family of the late Conway Twitty as the first choice to portray the legend in the national touring musical chronicling Twitty’s life.

Currently available for download via iTunes, “I Could Be The One” appears on Glen’s 10-song CD set for a mid to late summer release.  The single will be available via all major digital outlets (including Rhapsody and Amazon) at release date on May 9, 2011.

Whiskey Myers Serving Up Potent Shot of ‘Firewater’ April 26

Whiskey Myers Serving Up Potent Shot of ‘Firewater’ April 26

Texas-based five-piece mixes strong cocktail of Southern Rock and Outlaw Country with upcoming release

(Nashville, Tenn. – March 29, 2011)  Outlaw Country and Southern Rock outfit Whiskey Myers is releasing their raw but righteous sophomore album, titled Firewater, on April 26.

Led by vocalist Cody Cannon and the twin guitars of John Jeffers and Cody Tate, Whiskey Myers has emerged as one of the Lone Star State’s hottest musical exports with their 2011 effort.  Produced by ex-Shooter Jennings guitarist and songwriter Leroy Powell, Firewater is distinctly Southern Rock-oriented, yet inventive enough to incorporate the band’s heart-on-their-sleeve Country and Blues influences.

The Tyler, Texas-based group, rounded out by bassist Gary Brown and drummer Jeff Hogg, wrote nine of Firewater’s 12 tracks, with producer Powell contributing three songs.  The resulting album pieces together a compelling narrative of the band’s small town roots and the realities of life on the road for an up and coming band.

“We know people are going to compare our sound to bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, and that’s fine, we take that as a high compliment,” says Whiskey Myers lead singer, Cody Cannon.  “But when they hear this new record, they’re gonna find out that there’s a whole lot more to this band.  We love Country music, we love Rock, we love Blues – we just love to jam, period.  It doesn’t matter to us where the music comes from, it just matters that it’s real.”

Firewater
’s lead single, “Bar, Guitar and a Honky Tonk Crowd,” was released regionally in Texas and is currently approaching Top 20 status on the Texas Music Chart.   The five-piece group earned their first Top 10 hit on the chart several years ago with “Lonely East TX Nights” and a pair of Top 15 singles with “Summer 2005” and “Road of Life.”  All three songs were released from the band’s 2008 debut, Road of Life, which has independently sold more than 15,000 copies to date.

After drawing significant industry attention in Nashville, Whiskey Myers signed in 2010 with international booking agency, William Morris Endeavor.  The group has since opened up for some of Country music’s hottest acts, including Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan and Randy Houser.  They continue to share stages with fellow Texas favorites like Reckless Kelly, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Randy Rogers Band and Eli Young Band.

For more information and the latest Whiskey Myers tour dates, visit www.WhiskeyMyers.com

About Whiskey Myers:
Whiskey Myers’ debut album, Road Of Life, established the five-piece from East Texas as a worthy heir to the Skynyrd blue-collar tradition.  The group’s sinewy sound and intense musical interplay is the foundation of their live show, and their hectic touring schedule (close to 150 shows in 2010) is testament to their prowess on stage.  The band's sophomore release, Firewater, is a formidable mix of Southern Rock and Outlaw Country and solidifies Whiskey Myers as a genre-blending diamond in the rough whose music has captured the attention of fans and critics alike.  Produced by Leroy Powell, former guitarist for Shooter Jennings, and recorded at the famed Panhandle House in Denton, Texas, Firewater is set for release on April 26, 2011.  Visit www.WhiskeyMyers.com for more info.

Communication opens the door to the thought and anticipation that maybe, just maybe, there’s room for a second chance at love: “If you believe in a second chance, just reach out and take my hand. We’ll fan the flames of an old romance.” Written by the twosome along with Tom Stipe, the mid-tempo tune features a steady percussion beat with electric and acoustic guitars, and finishes strong with stellar piano and guitar solos.

“Straight forward, ‘Second Chance’ is a hopeful love song that paints a picture of the past and what ‘could be’ again,” Keith Burns notes. “We recognize the saying ’third time’s a charm;’ we’re excited to see that mantra come to fruition.”

“…is there a more relatable sentiment than hoping for a second chance with someone you love?” Michelle Poe adds.  “And you thought I was being a sap?Keith interrupts.  “It’s a beautifully romantic notion that we hope strikes a chord with country radio and the listeners,” Michelle concludes.

JEREMY PARSONS ALIGNS WITH HERO’S PROGENY

JEREMY PARSONS ALIGNS WITH HERO’S PROGENY
• Parsons Signs Management Deal With Jett Williams/Adjett Productions •

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 19, 2011)—Jeremy Parsons, who is the true essence and mirror image of traditional Americana country music, has formed a relationship with Jett Williams, the daughter of his idol, the legendary Hank Williams, and husband F. Keith Adkinson for artist management representation through Adjett Productions.

Parsons, a young man with an old soul, is a 23-year old “boy next door” who seems to have a direct-connect with ghosts of country past and the natural knack to echo the sounds of some of the “Who’s Who” in country music greats like Hank Williams, Faron Young, Johnny Horton and George Strait. The young Texan made his entry into the country music scene in March 2010 with the release of his debut CD entitled DOGGONDEST FEELIN (PCG Nashville Records).  A compilation entrenched in the heart and soul of classic country, Parsons’ DOGGONDEST FEELIN’ (produced by Bernard Porter/Porter-Gentry Productions) is a music history revival with song titles like “The Night Hank Williams Died,” “When My Old Man Was Young,” “I Could Be Your Pick Me Up” and “Since My Baby Left Me.”

A “Critic’s Pick” for many in 2010, Parsons received praise and applause by traditional country music fans and the media both in the U.S. and in Europe, and caught the attention of Jett Williams and Keith Adkinson in what they describe as a “magical, spiritual meeting.”

“Jeremy came out to the house and played for us,” Jett Williams introduced.  “As soon as I heard his voice, I felt like it was like my dad was in the room--using him as a vehicle. Jeremy and I shared an immediate understanding—a spiritual bond; there is a reason for our relationship.”

Making introductions official, Jeremy will appear for the first time under the Adjett management wing alongside Jett to perform some of Hank's greatest hits at the taping of "Tru Country" (RFD-TV) this weekend (April 23); he will go on to open for Jett at her scheduled show in Lovelady, Texas on April 30 and join Jett and her friends in music at the Hank Williams "Back To Basics" Festival in Georgiana, Alabama (May 20 and 21) in the company of other special guests: David Frizzell, Jimmy Fortune [of The Statlers], Helen Cornelius, Jim Ed Brown and Razzy Bailey.

It’s a dream come true to have even met Jett and Keith,” Parsons enthuses. “What’s more is to know they appreciate my music enough to take me under their wings—that’s surreal. To have Jett Williams as an advocate for what I am doing is a validation for me.”

Jett Williams and Keith Adkinson share the same sentiment. Immediate fans upon first introduction, the pair is excited to share his music.

“Jeremy Parsons can write a hit song quicker than you can change your socks,” Adkinson revealed. “And he is eat up with Hank and the traditional artists. Odds are, if you hang out around Jett and me, you are gonna see a lot of this young man.”

“Jeremy and I have played some together already,” Jett adds.  “I think country music fans can expect to hear a duet in the near future.”

The good news follows a series of grand happenings for Jett Williams. In May 2010, Jett accepted a Pulitzer Prize Award on her father’s behalf; she recently enjoyed a 2010 Grammy acknowledgement and nomination for HANK WILLIAMS THE COMPLETE MOTHER'S BEST (“Best Historical Album”), and, in January of this year, was tapped to host “Hank Williams: Inside The Box” on Sirius XM Radio's classic channel, The Roadhouse (Channel 62). Each program features four complete shows from Hank Williams' Mother's Best Flour Radio Series from 1951. Currently, Jett and Keith are working with Director Harry Thomason in the final planning, promotional and distribution phases of the motion picture “The Last Ride” coming to theaters in the fall. The Nashville Film Festival hosted the World Premiere of the film over the past weekend (with Jett, Keith and Jeremy in attendance), and Jett, just this morning, received word that “The Last Ride” won “Best Historical/Period Film,” “Best Actor” (Jesse James) and Best Musical Score” (Benji Gaither) at the 44th WorldFest-Houston Independent International Film Festival.

The relationship between Williams and Parsons is history in the making; the footsteps in which they walk are paralleled.  A storyteller and story keeper, Jeremy Parsons cultivated his love of the legends by collecting vinyl and writing tunes steeped in American roots and traditional sound. By the time he was in is early 20s the San Antonio-born Parsons had accomplished feats most newcomers only dream of.  Jeremy has more than 750 songs in his catalog, has opened for George Jones, is a frequent backstage guest at the Grand Ole Opry, was befriended by Little Jimmy Dickens and Jean Shepard and The Grascals, champions in bluegrass, cut the Parsons-penned “Out Comes The Sun”… and now, he is signed with the daughter of Hank Williams.  Let the music ring!

“When we set out to record this album, we tried to choose songs that would mean something to the fans,” says Rucker.  “The single, “This,” was a song I never thought would be a single, but that just shows you the power of the fans because they were the ones requesting it, downloading it, and playing it for their friends.  It’s their support that has made my career in country music possible.”

Rucker will celebrate his latest hit with a series of performances next week in New York City including TODAY Show, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, The Wendy Williams Show, and a benefit concert “Live From Home with Darius Rucker” at Housing Works’ Bookstore Café located at 126 Crosby Street.  A few tickets still remain available for purchase for “Live From Home” with every dollar supporting Housing Works’ mission to end homelessness and AIDS.  For more information and ticketing information, please visit DariusRucker.com.

Country Artist and Activist Lane Brody Balances Musical Career with Love of Animals, Environment

Country Artist and Activist Lane Brody Balances Musical Career with Love of Animals, Environment

(Nashville, Tenn. – April 18, 2011)  Country artist Lane Brody is splitting her time these days between two of the Grammy-nominated singer’s biggest passions: creating meaningful music and rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned wildlife.

The chart-topping vocalist is currently staying busy writing and recording her next album, but also dedicates a substantial amount of time to her position as chairman of the board at Middle Tennessee wildlife rehabilitation center, Walden’s Puddle.

“The time I spend between my recording career and Walden's Puddle is pretty evenly split, though I don’t really consider either one a ‘career’ in a conventional sense,” says Brody.  “My music and my love for all of God’s creatures are a large component of who I am.”

“Flame’s Turned Blue” is the most recent single from Brody’s 2010 release, On the Wings of Songs, available at www.GMVNashville.com.  Written and produced by Lane, the song effectively combines her musical talents with her environmentalist sensibilities.  The video was shot in Australia and serves as a wake-up call to mankind about the troubling issues plaguing our planet.

“Flame’s Turned Blue” (view here) is particularly relevant as Earth Day approaches on April 22, with several video outlets and environmental blogs including it in their Earth Day promotions.

“We should be guardians of all life and everything that sustains life,” says Brody.  “Doing the right thing always matters.”

On May 5, 2011, Brody is celebrating the official opening of the Walden’s Puddle Wildlife Education Center, housed at The Fontanel Mansion in Whites Creek, Tenn.  The event, billed as Walden’s Puddle “Cinco de Mayo Fiesta,” will feature performances from artists Lynn Anderson, Kathie Baillie, Brody, Cerrito, Bobby Marquez and a number of special guests.  WSMV’s Jennifer Herron will host the event.  For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.WaldensPuddle.org or call (615) 299-9938.  Tickets are $15.

About Lane Brody:
Lane Brody is a multiple Grammy nominee in the Best Artist, Best Album and Best Jazz Vocal Performance categories and the first female artist in Country music to have a song from a soundtrack nominated for an Oscar award (“Over You,” from the film Tender Mercies).  A model, actress and entertainer, Brody appeared on the television sitcom, Taxi, and in numerous films, including Heart of the City.  She landed a No. 1 hit with her duet with Johnny Lee, “The Yellow Rose.”  Her most recent album is 2010’s On the Wings of Songs.  For more information, visit www.LaneBrody.com.

About Walden’s Puddle:
Walden’s Puddle provides care and treatment to sick, injured and orphaned Tennessee wildlife.  Located in Joelton, Tenn., Walden’s Puddle is the only professionally staffed wildlife rehabilitation and education facility in Middle Tennessee.  The facility does not charge for services and receives no federal or state funding at this time.  Visit www.WaldensPuddle.org for more information.

About Fontanel:
Only minutes from downtown Nashville but miles from ordinary, The Fontanel Mansion is a 27,000 square foot log home formerly owned by Country Music Hall of Fame® member Barbara Mandrell and her husband Ken Dudney. The home boasts three stories, over 20 rooms, thirteen bathrooms, five fireplaces, two kitchens, an indoor pool and even an indoor shooting range on 136 acres of pristine land. An exclusive spot for the stars, the home and grounds have been the setting for numerous photo and video shoots, CMT’s top-rated “Gone Country” show and more. Most recently, the mansion was one of the settings for the Hollywood hit movie Country Strong starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw.  Visit www.FontanelMansion.com for more info.

5. My Love Follows You Where You Go 6. Dimming of the Day 7. On the Outside Looking In 8.Miles to Go 9. Sinking Stone 10. Bonita and Bill Butler 11. My Opening Farewell

After a 7-year hiatus, since 2004's LONELY RUNS BOTH WAYS Alison Krauss & Union Station make this welcome return. The album PAPER AIRPLANE was produced by the band and recorded in Nashville with engineer Mike Shipley (Maroon 5, The Cars, Def Leppard, Joni Mitchell) to whom they turned to for a fresh polish.
Alison has stated this project was a harder task to complete than previous AKUS outings. Krauss brought to the table a batch of music for the album selection process which included both new and vintage material, drawn predominately from songwriters outside the AKUS circle. After a week in the studio they realized they had some good songs but were lacking a focal point to glue the project together.

Alison therefore called on trusted songwriter Robert Lee Castleman ( Known to the band as “RL”). Over the years he has provided the magic with such stellar cuts as ‘Let Me Touch You for A While’, ‘The Lucky One’, ‘Forget About It’, ‘Gravity’, and ‘Restless’. Devoid of inspiration Castleman asked Alison to drive over to his home who was going through a very low ebb herself. On arrival Robert said he had a melody and he told her to sit down with him whilst she spoke of her own recent life experiences.
Five hours later she received a phone call to say he had a title ‘Paper Airplane’ and it was written!

On this superb country ballad as so often is the case, Krauss’ voice provides the focus around which all Union Stations bluegrass virtuosos can be creative. Her vocal is wrenching and vulnerable whilst expressing the loss of love. The lyrical content of letting go with a feeling of deep longing is completely captured by Krauss as she sings: How Many Nights Must I Wake Up Alone and Know In My Soul That It’s Almost Over Now / My Love Is Like A Paper Airplane Flying In The Folded Wind / Riding High To Then Low

Dan Tyminski sings on 3 of the album tracks and his trademark gritty tenor provides the lead on ‘Dust Bowl Children’, a bluegrass number written by Peter Rowan in 1990. This showcases much interplay between Ron Block's banjo and Barry Bales' driving bass lines as Jerry Douglas' earthy dobro enters the fray. It demonstrates an organic form on the bluegrass genre but one questions the authenticity and believability factor from these high earners as Dan sings ‘We’re All Dust Bowl Children Singin’ the Dust Bowl Song’ and ‘The Only Job That I Got Out There Was Waiting On A Welfare Line / Once I Had a Dollar, Once I Had A Dream’

Whilst driving home from Indianapolis Alison heard a pop song on the radio that immediately appealed regarding its structure of melody and harmony. She turned to her brother Viktor Krauss to ask if he knew the tune and whether he could muster up something of a similar nature. The result is the atmospheric, delicate mood-piece ’Lie Awake’ on which he collaborated with Inde/ Folk singer-songwriter Angel Snow. This partnership has since bloomed into a full-fledged performing duet penning many songs together. Viktor is quoted as saying “is the best collaborative experience he's ever had." The deep drum beat in this spooky arrangement allows the song to develop.

Alison turned to another young songwriter for another album stand-out ‘Lay My Burden Down’ by way of Aoife O'Donovan from Crooked Still. This was also the opening song and a soundtrack exclusive for the 2010 Robert Duvall movie Get Low, illuminated by Krauss’ crystal clear vocal it brings forth a nostalgic picture of the 1930s. This ties in with the sepia toned album artwork and promotional material. The thread running throughout this album is of trying times whilst in the middle of the worst kind of heartbreak and hoping it may soon disappear.

The Richard Thompson penned ‘Dimming Of The Day’ is something that producer T Bone Burnett brought to Alison’s attention at the time of her collaboration with Robert Plant on the Grammy winning RAISING SAND. At that point she felt it wasn’t something she could justice to. She describes the song from a woman’s perspective as the saddest song a woman could possible sing, as an unspeakable place – “No woman wants to show that grief”. One of Krauss’ greatest strengths is her interpretations of songs but I feel on this occasion it doesn’t quite equal Bonnie Raitt, when in 1994, she cut it on her LONGING IN THEIR HEARTS album.

Other songwriters credited on PAPER AIRPLANE include Nashville singer-songwriter Jeremy Lister for the breakup ballad ‘Sinking Stone’, Tim O'Brien for ‘On the Outside Looking In’ whilst Sidney Cox from the Cox Family provides the seafaring tragedy ‘Bonita and Bill Butler’. Alison has recorded several of Sidney’s songs in the past and in the 90’s it was she who produced and brought The Cox Family to the attention of Rounder Records.

The only member of Union Station with a song credit is Barry Bales on ‘Miles to Go’ which he wrote with Chris Stapleton, the former lead singer, guitarist and a member of bluegrass outfit The Steeldrivers.

The album closer is a competent cover of Jackson Browne's ‘My Opening Farewell’, the first time this folk-rock number has received the bluegrass treatment.

In her BBC radio interviews Krauss talks of being plagued by migraine headaches in the making of this album. One wonders if this explains although classy and polished this melancholic record is rather safe and at times pedestrian.
As a whole it fails to take risks, has a familiar formula, is rather one-dimensional and lacks the inspiration one might expect from such highly regarded musicians. Maybe the paper airplane drifted on the wind into quieter avenues out of harm’s way.

No lyrics are provided with the album perhaps they will be in the Deluxe Edition available exclusively at Target Stores in the US. This features six additional songs, including three exclusive studio songs – ‘These Days and A Place Outside’, both written by Angel Snow and Krauss' brother, Viktor Krauss; and ‘Frozen Fields’, composed by Jeff Black and Jon Randall.
