Bluegrass, Roots Country, and Americana artist hit#1 on the Bluegrass/Folk Category for Air Play Direct downloads and were #6 on the top 50 downloads for all genres for the month of March. He will perform in Asheville, NC the week of April 25th
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (April 9, 2011) - The leader of the Niall Toner Band from Ireland is still celebrating his music reaching the number one download spot on the bluegrass and folk charts for Air Play Direct during the month of March, an extraordinary achievement for a songwriter based in Ireland. As a result, Niall Toner Band has been enjoying an ever-increasing amount of air play on American Radio. Niall's songs about Bill Monroe, Bill Monroe's Mandolin and The Master's Resting Place, are proving most popular with Radio DJs and listeners in this year of Monroe's Centenary.
Following that success, Niall Toner is making his way to America. Niall will be visiting Tennessee and North Carolina in late April/Early May. Niall will be completing work in Nashville, Tennessee and will also perform a few solo shows in Asheville, NC before heading to MerleFest. Wearing his "Radio Presenter" hat, Niall will be attending Merlefest, where he will carry out interviews with as many of the stars of "Roots and Bluegrass" as possible. The interviews will be broadcast as part of Roots Freeway on Ireland's National Radio Station, RTE Radio One, in June and July 2011.
Niall Toner hails originally from Harold's Cross in Dublin, Ireland's Capital City. In 2001 with Clem O'Brien and Dick Gladney he formed the Niall Toner Band. Niall is widely regarded as one of Ireland's leading experts on Bluegrass and American Country Music. Niall has also been nominated for several PPI Radio Awards. Niall has written extensively on the subject of bluegrass and country music, and his articles have been published in Hot Press, Irish Music Magazine, In Dublin Magazine, Country Music Plus, Bluegrass Unlimited and Maverick Magazine.

In 2003, Niall's contribution to Country Music was honored by the CMA in Nashville, in the form of a nomination for a Global Artist Award, and his three all-original CDs with Niall Toner Band There's A Better Way, Mood Swing, and NTB3 have been widely acclaimed for their originality and the quality of their songs and instrumentals.
"It is our hope that folks will enjoy the music we perform during our shows in Asheville, NC," said Niall Toner. "I grew up around bluegrass and country music, the artists, and people who enjoy listening to live music. We are extremely excited that we now have the opportunity to bring our music from Ireland to a larger audience worldwide and hope this may bring about additional touring to the United States and elsewhere."

Louisa Branscomb, The "Songwriter's Songwriter," Presents I'll Take Love

 Louisa Branscomb,
The "Songwriter's Songwriter," Presents
I'll Take Love
[From the Pen of Louisa Branscomb]
on Compass Records April 26, 2011
A handpicked collection of Branscomb originals
recorded by bluegrass all-stars.

Louisa Branscomb was born writing music for the country-bluegrass world; most renowned as the writer for the 1991 SPBGMA song of the year “Steel Rails.” Now it’s 2011, she’s had over 90 songs recorded in bluegrass and acoustic music, and Compass Records has announced the launch of her 9th project, the first distributed by a national label.

I'll Take Love pairs 13 Branscomb originals with world-class vocalists and players, resulting in a musical feat as powerful in its execution as in it’s originality. Co-produced by Branscomb and Missy Raines, the collection features bluegrass and acoustic vocal legends Dale Ann Bradley, John Cowan, Claire Lynch, the Whites, Dave Peterson, emerging artist Josh Williams and more. Among other surprises is Alison Krauss returning to her early career connection with Branscomb (“Steel Rails”) to sing harmony on the title track. These and other vocal and instrumental collaborations make every song a recorded event in itself.

Add instrumental virtuosos Alison Brown (banjo), Stuart Duncan (fiddle), Missy Raines (bass), Rob Ickes (dobro and slide guitar), Jim Hurst (guitar), Alan Bibey (mandolin), Buck White (piano)—the list goes on—and this is a CD that keeps its promise to hit home from beginning to end.

So this Compass release is unique in meeting the vision described by co-producer Missy Raines: “We wanted to pick some of Louisa’s best songs, and really consider the very best singer for each song... But on this project we are really just wanting it to be about the songs, presented by great musicians in a tasteful, clean arrangements. Seeing it come to life, to see so much enthusiasm that each artist brought to the project—everyone wanting to be a part—was a special experience.”
