Country Star Kix Brooks “Kicking It” in Combat Boots

Country Star Kix Brooks “Kicking It” in Combat Boots
Kix Brooks
Nashville, TN – Kix Brooks, half of the super-duo Brooks & Dunn, is setting his trademark cowboy boots aside to help U.S. Servicemen and women returning from combat.  He is the featured celebrity this week at www.bootcampaign.com.

The boots are part of a national initiative called the Boot Campaign.  The Campaign’s motto is, “When They Come Back, We Give Back.”   Proceeds from every pair of boots sold through the Boot Campaign go to charities that help military members and their families cope with physical injuries and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.   The Boot Campaign’s goal is to see one million Americans sporting a pair of “Give Back” boots.

Five Texas women – known as the Boot Girls – launched the Boot Campaign in 2009 after reading a book called The Lone Survivor.  The book chronicles the story of Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell who was the lone survivor of a mission to capture a Taliban leader in the mountains of Afghanistan.  In 2010, Luttrell started The Lone Survivor Foundation, now one of the charities that benefits from the Boot Campaign.

Brooks joins an impressive roster of celebrities from all entertainment mediums and genres who have donned “Give Back” boots.  Other celebrities include former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman, Texas Governor Rick Perry and fellow country stars Dolly Parton, Charlie Daniels and Gretchen Wilson to name a few.

Brooks currently hosts American Country Countdown, an internationally syndicated radio show that counts down the top 30 country songs each week.  For two decades, he was half of  Brooks & Dunn, the highest selling duo in country music history.  The duo sold more than 30 million records, scored 23 number one hits and won an impressive 80 major music industry awards.

Kix Brooks serves on the boards of the Country Music Association and Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

RUSSELL HITCHCOCK UNVEILS SOLO CD PROJECT

RUSSELL HITCHCOCK UNVEILS SOLO CD PROJECT
Air Supply Lead Vocalist Releases Nashville Debut
RUSSELL HITCHCOCK–TENNESSEE: The Nashville Sessions

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 6, 2011)—Russell Hitchcock, one of the most recognizable pop-rock vocalists of our time, celebrates 36 years in entertainment this year and marks the anniversary with new music aimed to please an even broader audience with his independent 2011 double album release. Changing the pace from the AC/soft rock story songs for which he and his band mates of Air Supply are overwhelmingly applauded, Hitchcock adds a touch of twang to his Australian charm to accent the more traditional sounds of country with RUSSELL HITCHCOCK–TENNESSEE: The Nashville Sessions. **

Recorded in Music City’s Curb studios alongside producer Rob Rappaport, the 2-disc CD package features 20 new songs—from love-struck ballads to broken-hearted melodies and swingin’ door up-tempos—crafted by some of Nashville’s best-of-the-best A-list songwriters. In the vein of many a country music legend, the compilation captures a broad spectrum of feelings and emotions among the cuts “Fallin’,” “These Walls,” “May The Best Man Win” and “Cash’s Last Days.”  Music aficionados will also enjoy the accompanying 24-page full-color booklet display of pictures, lyrics, musical credits and more, chronicling the musical experience–an exclusive keepsake created especially for longtime Hitchcock fans.

“I am more than pleased with this project,” Hitchcock reveals. This is not a departure for me, I simply stepped outside the Air Supply box to dip a toe into other waters, an ocean of music that I’ve admired from afar. This compilation will touch hearts the same way Air Supply music does—just when fans close their eyes as they listen, they’ll hear and feel a different musical vibe.  I feel like we ended up with a great piece of art!  Recording in Nashville enabled us to create an organic product; the Southern hospitality, passion and extraordinary talents of the musicians, one and all, bled through into the studio. It reminded me of recording in Australia in 1976.”

The 2-disc package is available now for pre-order via Russell Hitchcock’s website (http://russellhitchcock.com) with an official worldwide release date set for May 10, 2011.

“Listeners will be able to hear one of the best singers in the world, accompanied by some of the greatest musicians in the world, collaborate on a project that has been carefully hand-picked and crafted,” producer Rob Rappaport introduces.  “Russell is a master and has great taste in music and—whether you’re a lifelong Air Supply fan or a true blue country music fan—you’ll not be disappointed in the flavor of RUSSELL HITCHCOCK–TENNESSEE: The Nashville Sessions.  It’s a melting pot of French horns, strings, fiddle and pedal steel; there’s something for everybody.”

The project features tracks penned by Nashville songwriters including Wes Hightower, Hal Ketchum, Jimmy Ritchey, Rusty Tabor and Josh Thompson and in keeping with the Better Angels contemporary philosophy to record “music worth hearing,” the label will simultaneously release two cuts to radio; “Far Enough Away From Colorado” and Hitchcock’s personal favorite, “Hold Me Like You Love Me” (written by John Ozier and Nick Sturms) will hit radio airwaves later this month.

The album is presented by Nashville-based Better Angels Music. Founded in 2007 by veteran music producer Rob Rappaport to bring music and entertainment back to the people, catering to all genres, Better Angels is an all-encompassing entity committed to creating quality music and offers in-house production, A&R, publishing and label services.

Russell Hitchcock is a founding member and one half of the enormously successful soft rock duo, Air Supply. Since the duo’s inception, Hitchcock and Graham Russell celebrated eight Top Ten hits in the United States. Some of their most well-known singles include, “All Out of Love,” “Lost In Love,” “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All” and “Even The Nights Are Better;” the group continues to play nearly 200 dates per year. The new solo CD (RUSSELL HITCHCOCK–TENNESSEE: The Nashville Sessions) is Hitchcock’s third independent album.

Loretta Lynn a coal miner's daughter has song, "Loretta's Shoes" written about her by up and coming country singer Joyce Shaffer.

Loretta Lynn a coal miner's daughter has song, "Loretta's Shoes" written about her by up and coming country singer Joyce Shaffer.
Los Angeles, CA  4/5/11  Loretta Lynn was born a coal miner's daughter and it seems fitting that Joyce Shaffer, the daughter of a sharecropper, would pen and record this heartfelt tribute to Loretta. "Loretta's Shoes" will take your breath away with its sweet country music and honest words sung to Loretta by Joyce. It is also fitting that this wonderful song will be released the week of Loretta Lynn's birthday.

"Loretta's Shoes" will be delivered into Loretta's hands by her grandson before the release as an early birthday present from Shaffer. "I have such respect and admiration for Loretta Lynn", Shaffer said, "She grew up poor like me, and had the determination to make her way in a business that is very hard to make your mark in." Shaffer went on, "I wanted her to know how much she is thought of by me and the rest of America. She is a true inspiration to us all."

Shaffer who is no stranger to the country music charts hopes to meet Loretta Lynn someday. "It is a dream of mine to sit down and visit with her. I think in a way we are soul sisters" Shaffer said.  With the release of "Loretta's Shoes", we would not be surprised if her dream will come true. We are sure to hear much more from this emerging country star.

RANDY HOUSER RELEASES “IN GOD’S TIME”

RANDY HOUSER RELEASES “IN GOD’S TIME”

Song Available Exclusively for Download on iTunes; Single to Impact Radio April 25

Ringtone Available Through Verizon Wireless

Nashville, Tenn. (Tuesday, April 5, 2011) – Known for his hits “Anything Goes,” “Boots On,” and “Whistlin’ Dixie” which have landed him on Late Show with David Letterman, Good Morning America, and Jimmy Kimmel Live! among others, country music maverick Randy Houser returns to the airwaves with an emotion-evoking ballad “In God’s Time.”  The record will impact radio on April 25, but it is exclusively available on iTunes now through April 26. In addition, fans can download Houser’s latest album, They Call Me Cadillac, for $6.99 in recognition of the new single.

Houser, who penned “In God’s Time” with Shane Minor and David Lee Murphy, knew the message was special the moment he sang the opening line and the now title.  So special in fact that he debuted it for a live audience on the historic Ryman Auditorium stage in celebration of his ACM Nomination for New Solo Vocalist of the Year during GAC’s ACM Showcase televised special. The performance resulted in a standing ovation and an outpouring of requests from fans to make the song available for purchase.

As one fan commented, “In this crazy, hectic world, we sometimes become so impatient and expect what we want when we want it.  This song is a powerful reminder that there is a higher power at work and His plan and timing are better than anything that we could imagine for ourselves.  I’m so glad that this single is finally available on iTunes.  I hope this song will earn Randy the recognition and radio airplay that his awesome talent deserves.”

“I hope ‘In God’s Time’ will touch people for different reasons-- whether it’s spiritually or just personally. I think everyone has little ‘miracles’ in their life that happen when they least expect them — and sometimes they’re what need to happen versus what we really want to happen,” Houser said.  “The song is about helping myself and others to realize that things happen for a reason.”

Fans will have the opportunity to hear Houser perform the single on the Country Throwdown Tour, www.countrythrowdown.com.

CRAIG CAMPBELL ALBUM IN STORES TODAY

CRAIG CAMPBELL ALBUM IN STORES TODAY
EARLY REVIEWS FOR “FAMILY MAN” DEBUT ALBUM OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE

Nashville, TN…(April 5, 2011)…”Family Man” Craig Campbell’s self-titled debut hits stores today and the album is already garnering rave reviews.

Here’s what some of the nation’s toughest critics are saying about Craig Campbell:

People Magazine:
“On a winning country debut, this Georgian displays a rich baritone and a witty way with a pen on tunes like the sly "I Bought It" and the suggestive "Fish." Elsewhere songs such as the ballad single "Family Man" will hit you right at home.” ★★★

USA Today:
"Campbell's baritone Georgia drawl gives him away from the very first line...his stories do the talking, with broad humor and vivid details."

Associated Press:
“He's got a strong voice, a straightforward, communicative style, and a lyric (one of nine songs he co-wrote) detailing a real-life situation.”

Country Weekly:
“The easygoing authenticity of this well-crafted album will likely appeal to most any female real-deal country fan—if she doesn’t mind the motor-oil smudges on the CD case.” ★★★

Washington Post:
“An unapologetic heir to the buttoned-down neo-traditionalism of Alan Jackson and George Strait, Craig Campbell sings in a rich, unhurried baritone and favors gimmick-free arrangements that feature swinging twin fiddles and careening steel guitar.”

The remainder of the jam-packed album launch week will include headlining concert appearances in San Jose, CA (4/5); Bakersfield, CA (4/6); Florence, AZ/Country Thunder USA Festival (4/7); and Henderson, NV (4/8).   Beginning in May, Craig can be found on the road with Willie Nelson and the Country Throwdown Tour.

The project is produced by Keith Stegall and features 11 songs, including 9 that are co-written by Craig.  A deluxe version of the album is available at iTunes and features two bonus tracks plus the “Family Man” music video and a digital booklet.

ABOUT CRAIG CAMPBELL: After moving from his hometown of Lyons, Georgia to Nashville in 2002 to pursue his country music dreams, Craig Campbell quickly picked up work as a keyboardist in Luke Bryan and Tracy Byrd’s bands and was later discovered playing a regular gig at legendary Nashville honky-tonk, The Stage. Campbell’s debut single, “Family Man,” is climbing the country radio charts. The song can be found on his debut album, available wherever music is sold.  To learn more about Craig, visit www.craigcampbell.tv and follow him on Twitter @craigcampbelltv.

ROBYN LUDWICK’S APRIL 19th RELEASE OUT OF THESE BLUES TAKES YOU ON AN EMOTIONALLY RAW RIDE

ROBYN LUDWICK’S APRIL 19th RELEASE OUT OF THESE BLUES TAKES YOU ON AN EMOTIONALLY RAW RIDE

Texas songwriting blueblood— critically- acclaimed Ludwick brings her unique slant to words and music

NASHVILLE, TN (April 5, 2011) – Texas born and bred Robyn Ludwick will release her third recording on April 19, 2011 to the tune of loud praises already pouring in from critics stateside and throughout Europe. Out Of These Blues, produced by Gurf Morlix (Lucinda Williams, Slaid Cleaves, Mary Gauthier) will take the listener on an emotionally challenging and thought provoking ride through her lilting vocal and sophisticated writing style. The lead track, “Hollywood” is the debut single hitting radio in early April.

“As a songwriter and performer, Ludwick is making a name for herself as an uncommonly incisive investigator of emotional structures: their strengths, their stresses and — often in her music — their collapse.” ~John T. Davis, Texas Music Magazine, April 2011.

In 2005, she released For So Long that was named one of the Top 10 albums of the year by the Austin Chronicle and the renowned Austin public radio station KUT-FM. It tasted the #1 spot on the Euro-Americana chart and a prime time slot on the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Soon to follow were countless acclaimed performances for American and European audiences. In 2008 the release of Too Much Desire continued her momentum of the scene.

Out Of These Blues is a collection of raw, unapologetic songs that might remind one of her heroes like Lucinda Williams (whom she is often compared), Emmy Lou Harris and Jackson Browne. With Morlix at the board and as an instrumentalist and a cast of such highly-regarded talent as Ian “Mac” McLagan (Small Faces, Faces, Rolling Stones), John Ludwick, Eddie Cantu, Gene Elders, Trish Murphy and Slaid Cleaves, Ludwick is pinching herself with the amount of talent surrounding her on this project.

Ludwick is currently residing in Wimberley, Texas; a small town in the Texas Hill Country that is the home to many in the creative communities. Ludwick is a mother of two and married to bass player John Ludwick, a storied musician as well. Determined to establish her identity, she shied away from proclaiming her maiden name of Robison and that her brothers were Charlie and Bruce and her sister-in-law is Kelly Willis.

However, it didn’t take long for people to put it together. “I am so lucky to have such talent and recognition in my family, but know how often that can be a curse, too. It can be hard to be yourself sometimes and my music is not in the same vein as my brothers,” she states. “I am my own person and wanted my music and style to reflect just that,” she continued. Ludwick, by trade, is a building structure forensics engineer, a “building doctor.” Parlaying her day job duties into some of the lyrics that she writes seem apropos as the songs often are a fix of some sort.

From the Hill Country dance halls to the hallowed halls of some of the world’s most venerable music venues, Ludwick is primed and ready to bring her new music to the scene. For touring and other information, please visit her at www.robynludwick.com or on FACEBOOK, www.facebook.com/robynludwick
