Interview with Chase Rice

Interview with Chase Rice

CL: I’m Christian Lamitschka and today I present you Chase Rice. Chase, welcome to the show!

CR: I appreciate it, thanks very much.

CL: Chase, most Americans know you, but the European fans might be hearing about you for the first time. Can you please introduce yourself to them, what type of music you’re playing and show us a little bit about your personality?

CR: Yes, my name is Chase Rice. I do a kind of a country rock thing. We got a new EP coming out, it’s called “Country Is Me.” It will be coming out March 8 on iTunes. I really love music. I love doing it. You might know me from the TV Show “Survivor.” I was on “Survivor-Nicaragua.”  Now, it’s just all about music. I’m releasing an EP and doing shows. I’m really looking forward to getting the music out there.

CL: Chase, you have a new single out there, called “Buzz Back”. Please tell us something about this song and what inspired you to pick up this song.

CR: I didn’t pick up this song; I wrote the song. It’s called “Buzz Back.” I wrote it with Jesse Rice and Brian Kelley. It’s just a song about getting rid of a hangover pretty much. In the second verse, it talks about other ways to get your buzz back. Do you get it back by going out and having some drinks or do you get a buzz when you get a new girlfriend? Basically, it asks what do you do to get that everyday buzz. It’s got that cool feeling.

CL: Chase, what brought you to country music?

CR: I’ve been huge fan of country music my whole life growing up listening to Garth Brooks and Chris LeDoux. I’m a big Kenny Chesney fan as well. I started playing guitar my sophomore year in college just for fun. In my junior year, my dad passed away, so the only way to deal with that was to write a song about it. And I wrote that song, then another song, then another. People were liking what I was doing, so I just continued to do it. I never thought it would be a career, but right now it’s going well. This new EP coming out is going to be a real big for me.

CL: What’s more fun, to be an artist or a songwriter.

CR: Well I’m doing both and I’m having a blast right now.

2011 JÄGERMEISTER COUNTRY TOUR With Dierks Bentley, Josh Thompson and Miss Willie Brown Continues To Trek Across The Country

NASHVILLE, TN. – March 24, 2011 – Columbia Nashville’s Josh Thompson is making a slight detour on the JÄGERMEISTER COUNTRY TOUR for a couple of national TV appearances next week.  Thompson will stop by Fox & Friends on Monday, March 28 to perform his current single and break-up anthem “Won’t Be Lonely Long.” He’ll also swing by Better TV for a performance and interview, set to air on Monday, April 4.

“Being on the Jager tour, we don’t really have a lot of early morning wake-up calls…so, I’ll need to prepare myself for that,” laughs Thompson.  “We’re having a blast on the road.  I’ve been touring so much over the past couple of years, it’s definitely become my second home, but there is no place else I’d rather be right now.  The fans are awesome and the Jager isn’t so bad either.”

Thompson kicked off the 2011 JÄGERMEISTER COUNTRY TOUR with Dierks Bentley on March 17.  The 30-city tour will make stops in Poughkeepsie, NY, Reading, PA and Westbury, NY this weekend, and features new duo Miss Willie Brown.  When he’s not on the road, Thompson is in the studio working on the follow up to his debut album WAY OUT HERE.  In addition to writing songs for the upcoming album, he has also enjoyed recent cuts by Brad Paisley (“A Man Don’t Have To Die”/THIS IS COUNTRY MUSIC) and Jason Aldean (“Church Pew Or Bar Stool”/MY KINDA PARTY).

Dance Til Your Stockings Are Hot + Ravelin' cover

Nashville, TN (March 24, 2011 ) -- Grammy-nominated bluegrass band The Grascals pay tribute to one of America's most-beloved television programs, The Andy Griffith Show, with the release their newest disc, DANCE 'TIL YOUR STOCKINGS ARE HOT AND RAVELIN' (A Tribute To The Music of the Andy Griffith Show). Available digitally via BluGrascal Records/Saguaro Road Records on March 29 and via CD on June 7, the seven-song EP features tunes that were an integral and humorous part of the show's eight-year run.  The disc's release coincides with The Andy Griffith Show's celebration of its 50th anniversary.

DANCE includes one original song written and recorded in the spirit of the sweetly-comical series, "Boy, Giraffes Are Selfish," alongside iconic tracks such as "Dooley," "Boil Them Cabbage Down," "Stay All Night (Stay A Little Longer)," "Ol' Joe Clark," "Leaning On The Everlasting Arms" and "Mayberry's Finest Theme."

THE GRASCALS' guitarist, Terry Eldredge, is a longtime fan of the show and confesses to have seen each episode numerous times.  "The Andy Griffith Show had a moral lesson that every human being should live by," Eldredge comments. "It's an honor and privilege to be associated with the best TV show ever made. It was - and still is - awesome family entertainment."

"The Andy Griffith show, The Grascals, and Bluegrass music is a quintessential American combination and The Grascals have given us another great listen," says Saguaro Road / Time Life Senior VP Retail Mike Jason.

The Grascals launched their career in 2004, and have become one of the most-lauded Bluegrass bands of their era. Accolades abound and include: SPBGMA's 2011 Instrumental Group of the Year, SPBGMA's 2010 Bluegrass Band of the Year, SPBGMA's 2009 Album of the Year and IBMA's (2007, 2006) Entertainer of the Year. The band's unique sound has also earned two of their previous releases (THE GRASCALS and LONG LIST OF HEARTACHES) Grammy® nominations in 2005 and 2006, respectively.

James Last, Udo Lindenbeg und Hildegard Knef.
