Newcomer EMMA6 startet durch

Newcomer EMMA6 startet durch
EMMA6, Newcomer EMMA6 startet durch

  • Gelungene Tour mit Wir sind Helden
  • Große VIVA-Kampagne „All Eyes On“
  • Kurt Krömer Show im April
Ab 23.

Interview with Karli Whetstone

 Interview with Karli Whetstone

CL: Karli, welcome.

KW: Thank you so much for having me.

CL: Please introduce yourself to our readers that may have been hearing about you for the first time.

KW: Well hello everybody, my name is Karli Whestone and I have been in Nashville for 4½ years now. I’ve been lucky enough to be the opening act up for some of the best artists in Nashville like, Taylor Swift, Phil Vasser, Joe Nichols, and Darryl Worley to name a few! I recently wrote a song called, “Ohio,” about my home state! It talks about Ohio and of course the Ohio State Buckeye Football team! It’s been really excited for me because the head coach of the Buckeyes, Jim Tressel loved my song, “Ohio,” so much he plays it every Saturday at Ohio Stadium during football season! It’s really thrilling to think over 105,000 hear, “Ohio” ever Saturday! Currently, I am very excited to have my second single out right now called “I Didn’t”. It’s an up-tempo, in your face, sassy song talking about a girl who is over her know it all boyfriend, the hook of the song goes, “What finally tore our love apart was a matter of religion! He thought he was God And I Didn’t!” So it’s a really fun song and people seem to really enjoy it. We are having a great time going around performing it, and it’s doing very well for us here on the Charts and is playing on almost 200 radio stations!

CL: Sounds good. If people like to get more information about you, what do we have to do.

KW: Go to my website www.karliwhetstone.com this would be a great place for everybody to find me and my social networking pages. On Twitter I’m @KarliWhetstone and on Facebook you can find me at www.facebook.com/KarliWhetstoneMusic. My music is on iTunes, you can find that on my website also. My website can take you everywhere you need to go so stop by www.KarliWhetstone.com

CL: In short, are you working by yourself on this social network websites?

KW: You know, I do have a lot of help, but any email or twitter reply always come from me. I always do the best I can to answer people immediately but, sometimes I need a day. Just know that within a day you will get a response from me personally.

CL: That’s wonderful! Tell us about the experience since you have been in Nashville.

KW: It’s just great to be in a place like Nashville. I’ve learned so much about becoming a better singer, songwriter and performer! I absolutely love it here and feel very grateful to be living my dream!

March 23rd Lyrics for Lyric show

The Nashville Music Guide Magazine and the Famed, Picks Nashville are proud to announce the March 23rd Lyrics for Lyric show, hosted by Award Winning, Stylist/ Musician, Mark Newton will be headlined by Grascals lead singer, Jamie Johnson and have a preshow jam packed with hit song writers.

March’s Lyrics for Lyric will be the fith installment of the series of shows to benefit  Lyric Alana Frizzell, whom was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of Leukemia at 10 months old, featuring such stars in the past as Ken Mellons, Trent Tomlinson, Michael Peterson, Whitney Duncan and Billy Yates.

The show will be hosted by IBMA Award winning Stylist/ Musician, Mark Newton, one of today's most respected interpreters of bluegrass music, whom has received acclaimed reviews for his 2006 Hillbilly Hemingway album. Mark is also great friends with featured artist and lead singer of the Grascals, Jamie Johnson, whom has had recent Billboard success with his song and video, “I Am Strong, which pays tribute to children suffering from cancer like Lyric.

On July 28th, 2009, at ten months old, Lyric Alana Frizzell, daughter of Crystal and Artist to the Stars, Corey Frizzell was diagnosed with an aggressive, rare form of Leukemia and was just hours from losing her life. Not only was it a parent’s worst nightmare to hear the dreaded words “Cancer”, but to soon find out that Lyric is the only documented case in history to have her form of Leukemia was unfathomable. She has endured six months of chemo, deadly infections and months of seclusion from family and friends in a protected, filtrated wing of the hospital for immune suppressed patients at the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, Myelosuppression Unit.
Lyric is now celebrating being declared in a partial remission from the Leukemia but frequents the Vanderbilt Cancer Clinic monthly and will continue to do so for the next four years to monitor her immune system and blood counts. If she can avoid a relapse during this period, having the greatest chance for one during the next year, she will be declared in full remission.
Songwriters appearing throughout the night will be Bryant Meltzer, Cowboy Slim, Lee Akers, JW Combs, Adrian Mahan, Analissa Garrett, Jenae Cherry, Tony Boatwright Jr, Josh Beal, Rachael Johnson, Lance Carpenter, Arlos Smith, Mary Hartman, Tommy Sutherland, Doug McCormick, James Slater, Bernie Nelson, Eddie Heinzelman, Jamie Burke, Rachael Hester, Claire Dunn and Melody Guy. A portion of the night’s proceeds will be donated to the Lyric Frizzell Fund, to offset the costs incurred during the two year olds cancer treatment at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
The Grascals are among the most beloved and acclaimed bands on today’s bluegrass scene, having won SPBGMA’s Bluegrass Band of the Year award in 2010, the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Emerging Artist of the Year award in 2005 and earning its Entertainer of the Year honor in both 2006 and 2007.
The story behind the song… Jamie Johnson on “I Am Strong” Back in February of 2010 I made a trip with The Grascals to present a check to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis TN, raised by The MACC Festival held in Columbus, Ohio each year and little did I know my life would change forever with this visit. I was nervous and a bit scared from the moment I walked through the front doors of the hospital, afraid of what I might see. I knew that St. Jude was a Children’s Hospital where children are fighting the terrible disease of cancer. Having my beautiful son Cole Train who is now 2 years old, thoughts were constantly running through my head as I watched young parents and their little boy or girl fighting for their lives. Many times I fought back tears and I just wanted to give them a hug for encouragement. If you've never been to St. Jude, do yourself a favor and go see these great teams of doctors show their dedicated love and determination to find cures for this disease. And go see some of the strongest people (the children) you'll ever meet in your life!
And if it’s still there, go see the wall of the alphabet where "I am Strong" was inspired. The Letter "S" stands for strong. I am more proud of this song than any other work I have created in my life and so thankful for getting to write it with my beautiful wife Susanne Mumpower-Johnson and our great friend Jenee Fleenor. To the children of St. Jude and any child fighting cancer anywhere in this world, The Grascals love you and pray for you every day! Thanks for showing us the real meaning of "Strong”! - Jamie Johnson
Also Joining the Lyrics for Lyric benefit, starting in March, will be two great world class companies as regular sponsors. TKL Cases and D’Addario have committed to being sponsors for every Lyrics for Lyric show. TKL Cases have donated two instrument cases per show to be raffled off to two lucky winners in attendance. D’Addario will be providing gift bags to be given to each of the artists donating their time for the benefit.
For those that can’t make it in person, you will be able to listen to live coverage of the show on Nixa Country Radio at www.nixacountry.com
March 23rd, Doors open at 5pm, No cover charge, 1407 Division St., Nashville, TN 37203.  For more information on Lyric, Nashville Music Guide Magazine, Picks Nashville, TKL Cases, D’Addario, Nixa Country, New Media Edge, Mark Newton or Jamie Johnson, please visit the following websites, www.lyricfrizzell.com, www.nashvillemusicguide.com, www.picksnashville.com, www.tkl.com,  www.daddario.com,  www.nixacountry.com, www.newmediaedge.com,  www.marknewtonband.com and www.grascals.com.

LEE BRICE PARTNERS WITH NRACOUNTRY

LEE BRICE PARTNERS WITH NRACOUNTRY
Nashville, TN (March 17, 2011) – Three-time ACM nominee Lee Brice is the latest addition to the NRACountry family of country music stars.  NRACountry is a partnership between the National Rifle Association and the hottest talent in country music.  Lee joins fellow country musicians Trace Adkins, Luke Bryan, Justin Moore and Blake Shelton among others.

NRACountry held its kickoff event in June during the 2010 CMA Music Festival with a sporting clay shoot fundraiser, which raised $30,000 towards the Middle Tennessee flood relief efforts.  It is charity events like these that encouraged Lee Brice to join the NRACountry team.  “After seeing the strong ties that NRACountry has to charity work and the classic American values they’re celebrating, of course I agreed to take part,” Brice stated, “I stand behind their work and am excited to begin this partnership.”

“Lee Brice is a great addition to the NRACountry family.  He is a talented star whose music moves millions of people across the globe.  Stateside, Lee’s legions of fans are inspired by his steadfast principles and love of country. Lee Brice's music, his words and his deeds will inspire a new generation of young Americans to stand up for freedom,” said Wayne LaPierre, NRA's executive vice president.

To check out Lee Brice on NRACountry, visit www.NRACountry.com.

About NRACountry
NRACountry is built upon shared values of patriotism, freedom and pride in America. Partnering with country music stars and their fans is a natural and seamless collaboration to promote what is important about being an American – Freedom. It celebrates these core values through concerts and other events to further educate honorable Americas on gun safety programs, youth training and education and nonpartisan voter registration.  Above all, NRACountry reaches out to everyday Americans to celebrate true American values.

About Lee Brice
Three-time ACM nominee Lee Brice released his debut album on Curb Records entitled Love Like Crazy in June of 2010.  The title track off of the album, "Love Like Crazy," reached the top five on the charts and was named Billboard’s #1 country song of 2010.  It currently holds the record for the longest charting song in the history of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.  The video for “Love Like Crazy” was named one of CMT’s Top 20 Videos of 2010.  Brice is also known for his songwriting, penning hits for many great artists including Garth Brooks and Tim McGraw.  His current single, "Beautiful Every Time," was recently released to radio and is quickly making its way up the charts.  You can find out more about Lee Brice at www.LeeBrice.com.

GEORGE HAMILTON IV New CDs Recorded In Texas and Canada

GEORGE HAMILTON IV
New CDs Recorded In Texas and Canada

While many artists, with over 55 years in the business, may well be giving thought to slowing down, if not retiring, it’s quite the opposite for longtime Grand Ole Opry star George Hamilton IV.

Well known for his hectic tour schedules, both within the United States and internationally, George equally delights his legion of followers with a steady output of recordings. Certainly March 2011 is no different with not one but two new releases on offer – and both revealing his ease and ability to tackle different country music formats.

The first, recorded towards the end of last year, found the North Carolina born entertainer in Texas surroundings, the second presents the first ever complete compilation of all his Canadian recordings for RCA released during the 1960s and ‘70s.

George Hamilton IV In The Heart Of Texas – recorded in Brady, Texas and produced by one of the Lone Star’s most versatile entertainers, Justin Trevino – presents new versions of some of George’s top hits alongside Texas favourites made famous by such as Ernest Tubb and Bob Wills. It all adds up to a highly entertaining programme that includes Truck Drivin’ Man, Before This Day Ends, Somewhere South of San Antone and A Little Bit Of Everything In Texas while, as a bonus, there’s a Hamilton-Trevino duet rendition of the artist’s 1964 hit Fort Worth, Dallas or Houston.

The album is another first for George IV and in true Texas tradition, gives him the opportunity to “let loose” with musicians who keep their sounds solidly country. George Hamilton IV In The Heart of Texas is released, appropriately, by Heart of Texas Records and is launched by the singer with a series of Texas concerts, some accompanied by much acclaimed newcomer Georgette Jones, in late March.

My North Country Home brings together all George Hamilton IV’s Canadian recordings in a 3 cd pack released by Bear Family Records – and, in the best Bear Family tradition, is beautifully packaged with a 68 page booklet.

George IV was always keen to seek out new songs and songwriters and none more so when, after achieving success as a top selling country artist in the 1960s, he became intrigued by the Canadian music scene and was the first Nashville artist to record “folkier” material from North of the 49th Parallel. After becoming aware of Gordon Lightfoot (and recording sixteen of his songs, more than any other artist), he sought out material by such as Ray Griff, Buffy St. Marie, Ian Tyson, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. In total he recorded 82 Canadian songs on six albums, which included such “folk-country” songs as Steel Rail Blues, Canadian Pacific, Early Morning Rain, Urge For Going, Four Strong Winds, Both Sides Now and Did She Mention My Name. This is the first time that all the Canadian recordings have been released in one package.

It was the success of such recordings that led George Hamilton IV to host his own Canadian television series for seven years and, combined with his surfeit of European activities (both sides of the Iron Curtain), earned him the title International Ambassador of Country Music, presented by Billboard magazine in 1974.
