Honey Ryder celebrate 3rd album with mini tour in UK

Honey Ryder celebrate 3rd album with mini tour in UK.
Having firmly established themselves within the inner circle of Nashville's elite, UK band Honey Ryder return to spearhead the British country crossover invasion with their third studio album, 'Born In A Bottle'. To celebrate this they have announced a mini tour.

Honey Ryder have already kicked off a busy festival season of touring with two performances at C2C at the O2 in March, followed by the Isle Of Wight Festival in June. Following this, they will be appearing at Weyfest and Fort San Antone Festival later it the year. The tour will be kicking off o the 30th July in London and the band will be on the road for the rest of year.

'Drink With Me' is the first single from the album. "We wanted to write a summery feel good song about hanging out with friends and partying, inspired by the bright lights of Downtown Nashville", explains lead singer Lindsay O'Mahony. "We had just come back to our hotel after a fantastic night at a bar called Pucketts, where we feasted on deep fried green beans and drank beer out of jam jars, and felt inspired to write, so we started jamming and within a few hours the song was pretty much finished. We then recorded it a few days later over at Ocean Way".

Honey Ryder sophomore album 'Marley's Chains' was a big hit on Radio 2 and achieved album of the weeks on the likes of Smooth Radio and Music Week. With hits such as 'Fly Away' and 'Marley Chains' the album received huge support all over the world, and 'Born In A Bottle' is sure to share the same success.

Live Dates:

July 30 The Bedford, London, United Kingdom
Sep 03 The Earl Grey Inn, Leek, United Kingdom
Sep 05 Weyfest, Farnham, United Kingdom
Oct 18 Fort San Antone Festival, Preston, United Kingdom
Oct 25 British Country Music Awards, London, United Kingdom

CD: JUNE WEBB - Reminiscing with Miss June Webb

JUNE WEBB
Reminiscing with Miss June Webb
Ages and Ages - Break The News - Oh Lonesome Me - Snowflakes - I Wonder Where You Are Tonight - I Think I Know - I'm Living In Two Worlds - Afraid - Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain - Long Long Ago - Making Believe - These Arms of Mine - Tribute

A couple of years ago it was my extreme pleasure to introduce June Webb to our large audience at the 'National Old Time Country Music Festival' in LeMars, Iowa, for a Hall of Fame induction.  Some folks remembered her, I among them.  She was the only female singer ever known as one of Roy Acuff's Smokey Mountain 'Boys.'  True!  June Webb worked for a long time with Acuff, on the road, on the Grand Ole Opry, in the recording studio. She also worked alongside the one and only Hank Williams.  Such a pretty and very talented girl, but very shy, she sometimes didn't appear she actually liked what she was doing.  However exactly the opposite is the truth.  She loved, with all her heart, singing songs with so much meaning, with all of her soul.  Her concern?  Maybe she wasn't doing it good enough.  That happens to all of us in the music business no matter what genre we might be in, but in country music it becomes a very basic feeling and sometimes masters our very existence.  June had to overcome that every time she walked on the stage, and guess what, she overpowered it.  If you were fortunate enough to see her in person, you were a very lucky person.  Sheila (my wife) and I got to do exactly that doing a concert with her in Florida (where she makes her home), and it staggered me to watch her, listen to her, indulge myself with her vocal interpretations of some of country music's greatest songs.  She has a very special specific 'style' that Roy Acuff loved immensely.  And here she is, back again after a long absence.  She still holds that special spot in her heart for country music, which she considers a truly American music.  Rather than lamenting the strange twist the music has taken today that eliminates the steel guitar and fiddle from it's very basic sound, she brings both back in this tremendously enjoyable listening experience. We also have an abiding love for the fiddle of Jake Simpson from Oklahoma who helped put this CD together.  Albert Svenddal is on the pedal steel guitar.  Both of these instruments are spectacular behind June's still vibrant and beautiful 'country' voice.  I"ll have a hard time putting this CD on the shelf and listen to something else.  It will be with me for a long long time.  If for no other reason, to remind me how great country music was, and is in the voice of June Webb.  It's so easy to reminisce when it's so beautifully well done.  This is the first recording June has made since her 1960 hit "I Was Just Meant To Be Lonely."  If she could see me now, she would see a standing ovation. I'm going to forward it to the Rural Roots Music Commission, and I already know what they are going to say.  yep!

CD: BILLY CHERNOFF - All Roads Lead To You

BILLY CHERNOFF
All Roads Lead To You
Stumble Stones - Every Day's A Sunday - On The Street Where you Live - I Am That Kind Of Man - Yesterday's Child - Going It Alone - Put A Little Faith In Jesus - The Fisherman - All Roads Lead To You - The One Thing - She Learned To Draw The Water - I Love You Lord - Shackles And Chains

Eleven of the thirteen songs on this album were written by Billy Chernoff who makes his home in British Columbia, Canada. The very first song is a knock-out.  It must be my lucky day to be doing a festival in LeMars, Iowa, where Billy Chernoff is going to be, right alongside the guy who wrote "Skip A Rope" for Henson Cargill.  That would be Glenn Tubb (Ernest's nephew), who also wrote ""I Am That Kind Of Man" on this album.  Both of these songs are similar in the 'message' they convey, but more importantly the composers both impart their very 'soul' on both these songs.  Billy is an especially gifted writer, he picks melody lines that enforce and propagate the message he shares with his listeners. He's a 'champion' for Jesus, and makes no bones about it. "And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die,"  is clearly printed on his CD folder.  This CD is another of those well done studio productions where both music makers and editors culminate their talents to make it all come out right.  Nashville musicians are outstanding, Wanda Vick on fiddle, mandolin, and Dobro; Dave Moody on acoustic and electric guitar; Josh Moody on drums; Ron de la Vega on bass; John Rees on piano; and Jennifer O'Brien on background vocals.  Billy works between his Canadian and Nashville locations with some of the overdubbing done in Canada.  It's amazing how that all works, but the end result is a super-star piece of fine music, right in line with the original traditional country music style.  Billy Chernoff might not be a young man, but he sure sounds like one, his heart full of love for Jesus, and his pen full of ink ready to write what he feels.  He also likes to use a lot of modulation in his songs, reminiscent of the 70's, but still a very strong and powerful tool that a lot of songwriters have forgotten how to use.  Not so with Billy Chernoff.  It keeps him young, and it keeps his listeners young too. Off it goes to the Rural Roots Music Commission.

CD: KRISTYN HARRIS - Down The Trail

KRISTYN HARRIS
Down The Trail
Down The Trail To San Antone - The Mustang Waltz - Travelin' In My Boots - Acres of Nowhere - Maiden's Prayer - Thank Heavens for Dale Evans - When The Bloom Is On The Sage - Diesel And Dust - Texas And You - Guitar Man - Amazing Grace - Yodelin' Fever - I've Been Everywhere In Texas

My affection for traditional music resonates whenever I hear it done well.  With a pretty voice from a pretty girl in Texas it doesn't get much better.  Reba McEntire was exactly that not so long ago, but she shifted her method to a kind of whiny note-twister style.  Kristyn Harris takes that terrific music back one step, eliminated the whine, and turned the music back into a joy to listen to. This CD is 'pure' country, and please include a little 'western' in there too, just as it was when it was so popular, and still is.  The very first song out of the chute, needless to say, is an old Sons of the Pioneers song, but Kristyn put the just right 'touch' on it vocally, and the triple fiddles of Hank Singer puts this song right where it needs to be, the opener of a stunningly beautiful CD.  Kristyn isn't just a beautiful singer of beautiful songs, she's also a protester of sorts.  Her own song "Acres of Nowhere" is her achingly beautiful rendition of how similar beautiful acres are being eaten up by developers that grab cow pastures and farmland and turn them into concrete rocket launching never ending pads of one sort or another.  Acres of nowhere is the right title.  I know "Maiden's Prayer" mostly as a terrific fiddle tune, just as Bob Wills played it, but here it is, lyrics and all, extremely well done.  Kristyn also makes it perfectly clear in "Thank Heavens for Dale Evans" that Ms. Evans made a cowgirl out of her.  She has a stunning yodeling song "Yodelin' Fever' as a bonus track, but we get to hear some 'mighty' yodeling on the Dale Evans conversion of Kristyn to a 'cowgirl.'  Kristyn wrote four of the songs and co-wrote one, all of them right in the groove.  She used excellent musicians mostly recorded at the Allegro Sound Lab in Burleson, Texas.  The mix is terrific, which tells me the 'mixer' was giving a little overtime on this project, because it is simply quite well done all the way around.  The incredible 1773 song "Amazing Grace" is just as important to Kristyn as it is to many of us who have a powerfully strong belief in the Lord Jesus Christ.  When musicians show how very talented they are, like this CD, I like to mention their names.  Kristyn took care of rhythm guitar, but she had help on lead guitar by Rich O'Brien who also sang some harmony; Russ Rand is on the upright bass (to me this instrument cannot be impersonated by electronic sound. The acoustic bass moves too much, it keeps it's spirit and resonance in tune with the singer, and Russ is a good one. Michael Dohoney on drums, and Gary Carpenter on steel.  Tim Alexander on piano and Jon Stutler on clarinet, but my favorite is the fiddler, Hank Singer.  He puts the 'finishing' touch on an award winning CD.

TANYA TUCKER TO PERFORM BOJANGLES' SOUTHERN 500

COUNTRY MUSIC LEGEND TANYA TUCKER TO PERFORM BOJANGLES' SOUTHERN 500 NATIONAL ANTHEM
Tanya Tucker

Tucker's performance, teamed with Grand Funk Railroad concert, make Darlington Raceway's pre-race ceremonies a nostalgic celebration of the early 70's

DARLINGTON, SC (July 27, 2015) – Joining in Darlington Raceway’s celebration of the early 1970’s during its Labor Day weekend events, will be country music legend Tanya Tucker, who will perform the National Anthem for the Bojangles’ Southern 500 on Sept. 6.

Tucker, a longtime Nashville recording artist, will sing the Star-Spangled Banner live on NBC.

“We are excited to have country music icon Tanya Tucker perform our National Anthem for the Bojangles’ Southern 500,” track President Chip Wile said. “Tanya Tucker has been a mainstay in Nashville since the early 1970’s. Her rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner will be a can’t-miss for our great race fans.”

For four decades, Tucker’s sultry voice and vivacious stage presence has helped to make her one of the most admired and respected female vocalists in the country music genre.

Part of that appeal lies in the fact that her resume contains some of the most groundbreaking songs of the format’s history. Songs like Alex Harvey’s Delta Dawn, Dallas Frazier’s What’s Your Mama’s Name and David Allan Coe’s Would You Lay With Me (In A Field Of Stone) firmly established Tanya Tucker as an artist from whom you could always expect the unexpected. Her early hits also contained some kick-up-your-heels moments, like Texas (When I Die), San Antonio Stroll, and Here’s Some Love.

And, the best is yet to come for this future Country Music Hall of Fame member. With a new album forthcoming, the powerhouse vocalist is set to remind listeners just why artists such as Miranda Lambert and Gretchen Wilson consider her to be one of their biggest influences. She’s lived a life full of love and heartbreak, and bounced back no matter the odds. In the crazy world of the music business, Tanya Tucker defines the word “legend,” but also “survivor.”

Tucker’s anthem performance adds yet another element to an already exciting 1970’s-style pre-race. She will join legendary rock band Grand Funk Railroad, who will be performing the pre-race concert for the 66th running of the Bojangles’ Southern 500.

Fans have the exclusive opportunity to watch the Grand Funk Railroad concert from the front of the pre-race stage. In addition to the purchase of a Bojangles’ Southern 500 grandstand ticket, a pre-race access pass may be purchased for an additional $45. This pass will not only give fans stage front access for the concert, but will also include an up close view of the Sprint Cup Series drivers as they are introduced to the crowd.
